Is Microsoft retarded?
...
>Muh 4 player co-op
>Every game has to have co-op
>Bring your retarded friends with you and chatter about normie shit while you have grand adventures with your dragon
Fuck MS
So did Kamiya wanted 60 fps on an xbone and MS nice graphics?
MS also wanted to steer it towards a 4-player co-op title when all Kamiya wanted to do was make an open-world RPG
I've noticed this too. Every E3 Microsoft comes out and shows dozens of really innovative AA projects, then they all get quietly cancelled before release, none of them ever see the light of day as he said there.
I wonder if they do it as a tax write off and to farm assets from. Or if it's really corporate fucking over the gaming division. I know the 360 was a massive failure for them and generated no profit, I dunno about the OG Xbox but I think that was a failure too. I remember reading that Corporate was thinking of axing the entire division before the Xbone was made, and probably why that fuckwit Don Matrick was appointed head, to try and save cost and turn it into a media centre. Obviously that failed and Phil Spencer was put in charge, and he seems like a nice guy up front, I don't know if he's involved with all the cancelations like Phantom Dust, Lionhead Studio's or this. But if he's not then I wouldn't be surprised to see him go soon as well for being against corporate and having faith in the gaming division. He has to be the one that greenlighted these games in the first place right? Did he say some where his pet projects?
>RPG about a girl and a dragon
>going with the idea to MS
Kamiya is really an idiot.
do you really have to ask that question? they got rid of exclusivity on Xbox one, the only reason to own consoles aside from local multiplayer (which they didn't even have in halo 5 kek)
...
>pre-alpha
>fully rendered, playable segments with ingame engine
This honestly, once Matrick left and Phil was put in charge, a lot of decent looking games were announced and I was considering getting an Xbone over PS4. But then they announced that every single one was coming to PC as well. Top fucking kek. Useless console.
Shame most are stuck on the windows store and on W10 though, fuck that shit. Microsoft truly is cancer.
Phil is better for the rest of us and worse for retards who bought an Xbone. Serves them right, they deserve it for buying a shitty console
>Pre-Alpha
sure bud
that webm is depressing
we don't have enough dragon games
Pre-alpha means its not quite feature complete. Sure some segments will be more polished than others, but it doesnt mean that anymore than they show off is stable. The Co-op probably shat bricks whenever a third or fourth player joined, hardlocks and bugs abound. I doubt they had even finished the rough assets for the whole game.
I bought an XBone and here's what I've played on it:
Halo 5
Forza Horizon 2
Forza Horizon 3
ReCore (actually pretty fun)
Quantum Break
This piece of shit had fewer games than the fucking Wii U. I was looking forward to Scalebound, which is now cancelled, and Below, which is "on indefinite hiatus".
The only things left are Cuphead and Crackdown 3.
The UI/OS is fucking slow as hell and extremely counterintuitive.
What a pathetic fucking system, but I do like the controllers.
The Xbox division was the personal project of a handful of higher ups in the company, who wanted Microsoft to branch out into a bunch of different markets with no concern for the profitability of each venture because their core of Software development could always eat the loses for however long it took for them to become profitable on their own.
All of these people have retired or otherwise left the company now, which is why every single division of Microsoft that wasn't a major success has been intentionally self-sabotaged and slowly scraped over the last decade.
that would be alpha user, not PRE alpha
After my disappointment with the Wii U. I made the decision to not buy the XBone. And I won't be buying the Switch
You know I wonder if it would be a good thing if Microsoft just sabotages the Xbox division. As much as Phil seems like a decent bloke, Microsoft really needs to fuck off from gaming.
Also the big thing, once Microsoft is out, maybe things like the OG Xbox's architecture can be leaked more safely so we can finally get a working emulator for it. Also they would likely sell off a lot or all of their IP's and studio's too which could be quite good.
Yeah I add the whole Halo franchise and the whole Gears franchise to that. Also Sunset Overdrive and some BC titles because I never owned a 360.
I'm an Idort so I'm not as mad because I had fun with it. But I would hate myself if I bought a Xbone as my primary console of choice.
I hope at least they bring Crackdown 3 with Crackdown 1 (and 2 but I heard it was crap) in BC. I should've bought a used 360 in the end but I had hope in some of the exclusives.
Same. I'll just wait for something good to come out but not fucking Zelda.
Impossible to say, but I feel like it would be a net bad. They would just sit on all of their IPs, not sell them off. Sony would double down on being as terrible as they can get away with, and I doubt Nintendo would try anything different at all.
It could potentially shake the market up, but probably not for the better. Every major smartphone manufacturer would try slapping together a shitty Android TV console together in an attempt to capture the section of the pie Microsoft would be leaving behind.
Crackdown 3 will be on PC. Why the fuck would anyone be stupid enough to buy an Xbone?
Oh yeah, I forgot about Sunset Overdrive. Movement was a blast in that game but overall I felt like it lacked staying power
Working at Microsoft, I can tell you that for the longest time the basic corporate culture was feudalism. While what became Bing was being developed, three other separate divisions were also developing search engines and all of them were fighting for money and resources. So Xbox has been stuck in a tug of war between divisions, and which division has control tends to change it to make the rest of their division look good. (Hence the ad space overload on the 360's later dashboards.)
I wonder how much of this game was done.
I heard combat was actually very fun. Like you could press a button and control your dragon directly so you can switch between your character and dragon on the fly. I wonder why they never showed it though.
Contrary to what Sup Forums thinks the vast majority if people dont have a gaming pc for multiplats and consoles for exclusives. Most people just buy consoles. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo could literally port every single exclusive to PC and it wouldnt shake up the market that much. Console gamers dont give a shit about PC for AAA, only F2P.
Last Gurdian but Actually Good was literally the one and only thing that had me slightly interested in the Xbone.

>Phil: HOL THE FUCK UP, WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT??? GET THAT SHIT OUT OF HERE!!!
Can't wait for nothing but more Halo and Forza sequels, Mmm what a great console :^)
Why would they just sit on IP's like that? I don't think that would happen would it?
Though I agree that Sony having competition and not free reign is a good thing. I think there could be positives of Microsoft leaving the industry alltogether.
Wow that sounds fucking terrible. So Xbox was given to other divisions?
Also Bing's image search is great for porn. I use it all the time. What division did that and what where the other divisions making competitors?
Also how many fucking divisions does Microsoft have?
Then they should have bought a ps4 and a Wii U for exclusives.
Just look at every other division they have shut down. They never sell off the assets or intellectual property, they just sit on it forever.
PS4 had no games at launch. Neither did WiiU for the first year really. Xbone at least had Halo 5 to look forward to. It was basically a gamble. Buying any console in 2012-2013 would have been a huge mistake but people still did it.1
What divisions have they shut down and what do they still have?
I am not an expect on corporate microsoft stuff?
Which division is responsible for fucking Windows 10?
The Windows division
What other divisions are there? So far I know of Corporate (the head), Windows division and Xbox division. What other ones have they had that were axed? What IP's did they own that they are now just sitting on?
Microsoft is made up of three main divisions, which are further subdivided into countless engineering groups. The Client division, which makes Windows and their Server related stuff. The Business division, which makes all of the Office software. Then the Entertainment and Devices division, which is where Xbox lives.
One big recent example would be their Mobile division. After they started losing ground to the iOS and Android, Microsoft pretty much just gave up. Over the last few years they have discontinued every single line of products they produced, bought Nokia out only to dismantle it and write the venture off as a tax writeoff, and Windows Phone as a platform was left to die completely unsupported for years.
So how do they make money off of buying things and then calling it a loss for tax writeoffs? Red pill me on how this works?
Do they just figure we gotta pay X amount of tax, so spend nearly X amount of dollars on something useless then claims it's a loss so we don't have to pay that X amount of tax?
Its how they justify shutting down stuff they no longer want to bother with.
>Division X has not been profitable since it was established
>We don't want to bother with this market anymore, but just pulling out directly would make the company look bad
>Buy up Company Y so that it looks like we spent a ton of money trying to make Division X profitable, but it just didn't work out
>Write off as much of the losses on taxes as possible, shut it all down, forget it was ever a part of the company
Over the next few years watch out for them making expensive vidya related acquisitions that don't seem to make much sense, that will be the sign the Xbox division is about to be axed
>1 billion dollar minecraft acquisition
Maybe they were going through with that plan when Phil came in?
Although some people say that was to make money of the merchandise.
Also what's the problem with just axing it straight away. Why do they have to justify it? Who will it look bad too? Do they actually make a profit by throwing all this money around to avoid taxes?
>Minecraft
It was all about the merchandise for that one, that was a very smart acquisition. Minecraft was raking in over a billion annually on the merchandise when they bought it, and I doubt it has declined very much since then.
>Also what's the problem with just axing it straight away. Why do they have to justify it? Who will it look bad too?
Investors and shareholders. If they just went around directly killing off unprofitable divisions, it could cause their stock prices to fall which hurts the entire company. So they slowly wind them down, and quietly kill them off so shareholders don't notice and go into panic sell mode.
