Why do Gamers have such fucking shit taste in aesthetics?

Why do Gamers have such fucking shit taste in aesthetics?

Gaming cases are all ugly, demented as fuck monstrosities covered in pulsating LED lights, shitty accents and bizarre shapes. Good keyboards and Mice are covered in shifting LED lights everywhere.

I tried to build the most simple, basic aesthetic looking high end gaming PC, but low and behold, even the fucking MOBO came with pulsating LED rainbow lights on it, the video card as well. FUUUUUUUUUUCK.

When will this shitty riced out gaming PC aesthetic trend die and we get things with actually some thought put into good aesthetic design?

IMO anything 'gaming' tends to hideous LED lights, super angular 'aggressive' designs that all look terrible imo.

Just looking at cases, it's hard to find a nice looking case in amongst a lot of stuff I'd consider ugly out there. I hate lights and LED's so much, I didn't plug in the Power LED light into the motherboard, so when I switch on the computer, there's no light to signal that it's on and I love it that way. Keyboards have all sorts of lights, mice have lights it's crazy.

I suppose by having the lights and the angles and the logo's embossed onto a product, it indicates that it's not a regular, cheap item. That it's a higher-end item and maybe feeds into the notion that it's better than the regular item just by its looks.

It all started with Alienware in the early-mid 00s.

Basically back then, all Gaming PC's looked like white plastic, aluminium boxes, then Alienware came along with these super high end overpriced PCs in these super futuristic looking cases filled with LEDs and such.

That is when the whole craze took off. Basically PC design trends have been since then the more "futuristic" and "Sci-fi" your PC looks, the more high end it is.

Everyone in the industry hates it, you sometimes get interviews out of CES about it, but it's the shit that sells. Your average hardcore gamer thinks that tricked out Gaming PCs with ledstrips and glowing fans and glowing water coolant etc is the coolest shit.

>When will this shitty riced out gaming PC aesthetic trend die

it will be a long while, it has take quite a awhile to evolve this far. first was cct's in your case, then led fans, then led strips, then tiny computers came along to let control your leds, then leds strips got even tinier to embed directly into pcbs. eventually a pc case will be a light source much like a lamp that simply doubles as a computer.

the rice has only just begun.

Fractal Design are the only people I get cases off for this reason.

>low and behold

triggered

I like how they fucking ruin the most basic of shit with bad design.

Because the people who design these things follow way out dated trends and dont know what people want.

user please, this is a SFW board.

Looks like a mini fridge.

This. My build is completely based on simplicity and the only "led" thingies that I have are my mouse and keyboard and of course the lights on my mouse are turned off from the software.

I like it. It's different. Everyone's obsessed with being minimalistic to the point where it's gotten boring.

Mini fridges are pretty fucking aesthetic.

Because gamers are subhuman autists.

For innovation,it has 220 hz refresh rate

Agreed. I bought a fractal define s, no windowed side panel. The beautiful finish in the front, that single blue light, all black, all smooth. It's minimalist perfection.

1) Stay away from "gamer" branded gear. 99% of it is overpriced. Most isn't good either.

2) You probably never touched a good keyboard.

Substance over style, you shallow fuck.

Arc Midi R2 here. I love their understated design. Wish the Define S did what I need.

Why the fuck does it have a fucking light coming off the bottom? Isn't the 240hz refresh rate a good enough selling point?

nzxt s340 or h440

whatever you do DO NOT buy anything else from them especially anything that requires their dumpster fire software

Companies realize it looks like shit, it's just what sells to teens.

And I for one, am perfectly fucking okay with that.

I'm planning on getting a define s in a few months. I don't want a window. I don't want LED's. I don't want flashy bullshit.

I just want a nice solid case that's simple in form/function and doesn't cost me $300 fucking dollars

9 times out of 10 shit like that is a smoke screen for shoddy hardware or workmanship (or both) and the user will accept flaws because it has a cool light feature.

I can't even imagine how bad it must be if you actually need a high performance laptop for work or something.
The only options with good CPUs and GPUs are all L33T G4M3R gear that are covered in gaudy bright red and orange Plastic and gaming logos all over the place.

>Gaming cases are all ugly, demented as fuck monstrosities covered in pulsating LED lights, shitty accents and bizarre shapes

>implying

Get it. I have one. It's perfect. Tons of rooms inside and minimalist looks outside.

>R5 Fractal Design case
>Dell UP3017Q (though it cost an arm and leg, use it for work as well though)

Feels aesthetic man.

>Why do Gamers have such fucking shit taste in aesthetics?
Gamers aren't the ones coming up with the design and packaging of "gaming" products.
It's a win-win for hardware manufacturers
>design regular products with unnecessary packaging and overdesigned looks
>sell it twice as expensive
I'd do it too.

I wanna go back to the quaint utilitarian look of PCs from the 80s/90s.

>Companies realize it looks like shit, it's just what sells to teens.

First computer everyone makes is riced out LED's everywhere "so cool!" mishmash edgy styles bullshit design.

Then you realize you paid an extra $400 for gimmicky shit that doesn't do anything except blind you when you try to sleep at night and nobody else ever even looks at your computer.

And the next one you make is just a box that sits there doing absolutely nothing fancy, just like it's supposed to.

Hey, I have that case
>sleek design
>that interior cable management
>easily removable dust filters
It took me a couple hours to clean/dust my old Zalmann case, now it's over in a matter of 5 minutes.

The only thing that color is good for is pretending it came that way instead of having to admit it's all just nicotine.

>all these posters appreciating the minimalist aesthetics of fractal cases
Glad to see Sup Forums has good taste on something.

>no VESA mounting

how plebian

Are those tiny side vents enough to get good airflow?

Give it a couple minutes and Sup Forums will hate them because it's popular.

What the fuck is it with Swedish people and fucking awesome design?

If Japan was any bit interested in PC gaming, I bet we would see some competition with Fractal Design.

I always hated fractal minimalist cases

>1 minute 20 seconds
breddy gud

My asrock gaymer board looks pretty slick. It does kinda have the ASUS ROG edgy colour scheme tho. No leds

>First computer everyone makes is riced out LED's everywhere "so cool!" mishmash edgy styles bullshit design.

lol yup. it's an e-rite of passage. my first machine was gigantic fucking tower with blue led fans and blue lights. now i just have a typical plain black monolith case.

Good thing about the case is that it has hidden vents, The front actually has ribs down the edge of it that allows a lot of air to come in, has big as fuck fan in the front and back.

youtube.com/watch?v=d_ZLKzqcUtM

gaymur mobos are the absolute worst

But they are hugely popular.

Kind of nice that for a while, the "gaming" boards usually came with some bullshit Qualcomm lan instead of Intel or at least Realtek, installed some bloatware, and then promptly ran into a memory leak.

what case?

You can throw in two to three front fans and one exhaust, my pc is fucking rigid.

I'll show you aestetics.

Looks like a Fractal Design R4 or R5

Define S

>linus shilltips

Can I get that without the red lines?

Minimalistic design is the new cancer

Doubt it. I posted my build to pc part picker and despite the insides being filled with top of the line parts a few whined how fractal cases are cheap and boring. They're affordable but well made, but they expect because I had a i7 and 1070 to have some garish bullshit with leds out the asshole.

im jealous fuck you

I like this case as well, don't know the cooling though.

no

yes. i have the one that's all black and with no window. it has a stupid light up logo thing on the inside that you can just unplug thankfully

I improved ur case

Reporting in.

That's much better, actually worth considering now.

Lian Li has some pretty aesthetic cases, real pricey though.

You know what trend I think is retarded? Those wall mounted cases that are easily a flat surface for you to mount all like shit in. It's such a jerk off case made purely to prove how much of a tool the owner is.

That's not really a trend, though. That's been a thing for people looking to show off for a long time.

And having to show off your computer part has always been really sad.

its nice. I bought this case in the height of the ricer case craze. I dont mind the trim desu. the rounded corners is what I really like about the design.

...

I think you mean brutalist

Define R4 is the shit, everything you can expect from the perfect computer case.

Also their customer service is top tier, they send me a replacement front jack for free.

I'll take your word for it. I just see it a lot, more than I've seen in older builds and it's the pc building equivalent of vaping in your lifted truck.

Don't mind me, I'm just going to go to my electro swing night at the local jazz bar now.

Why is it so hard to find something that isn't black or white?

tempered glass is the new trend
even on the fucking rear side panel

why would you want red or blue?
How could it possibly fit in with the other furniture?
Do you still live in your childhood bedroom?

I have a custom case and monitor decals in Hyperion yellow, and use Razer Chroma peripherals for MAXIMUM RAINBOWS, how mad are you, minion?

wubwubwubwubwubuhntissuhntiss *DROP!* wubwubwubwubwubwub

>take any metal case
>scrub it with sand paper
>spray with self etching primer
>spray any color you want
>???
>profit!

bonus points if the case can be taken apart and isn't riveted.

it matches his bed

Wonder how it'd look with opaque tempered glass instead of see through

>xe thinks people who play video games design these things

> smears everywhere, the case

I want a tempered glass case made from very dark tinted glass, so you can barely see inside

>why would you want red or blue?
Because I like those colors and would like a computer case like that.
>How could it possibly fit in with the other furniture?
If nobody but me is going to see it and it wouldn't bother me then why would it need to match anything else?
>Do you still live in your childhood bedroom?
No, I live by myself it a tiny little shithole apartment.

hey thats my case

This is why I am using a pretty basic Zellman case and a Zowie FK1 mouse that looks like a cheap Genius mouse from a library, but damn is it good.

A lot of modern interior design is based around bright punchy colours and along with industrial design.

I could see why people would want bright punchy colours.

Well the problem is that you're buying the GAMER GEARĀ©. There are plenty of high end components that have no LED lighting.

Actually no, it's more simplistic and white/grey/black.

>made by chinks (they can't into good design)
>aimed at the Sup Forums audience (Nintenyearolds)
I dropped PC desktops, because it's just hideous overpriced garbage.
>he doesn't know why plastic yellows

You'll actually find that very high end and expensive stuff ranging from pc components to headsets look completely normal.

I think we can all agree, that Bauhaus is the best design movement of all time.

What my next PC will look like.

>buy this
>build your peecee
>set it down
>turn around
>turn back again
>you can't even see the components inside because it's covered with dust and fingerprints

shit acoustics. everything in the case hums when on. from the psu to the fans to the hdds

get a fractal design instead

I'm so sorry

Are you an artist creating art for a living? Yes? Then that's an appropriate choice.

If not, you're a fucking moron, and i hope you get clubbed in the head and robbed by a pack of niggers.

Even then, Apple computers are not great.

Surprisingly, they are actually pretty good value for money once you take the Retina screen into account., like 95% of the cost is the 5K 30inch Retina screen.

The problem is, the Retina Screen has shittier colour accuracy that mid-high end dell monitors.

So you can build a beast of a computer, and get like a 28inch 4k 100% RGB Adobe accurate calibrated Dell Monitor for the same cost.

Sure, not 5K, but 5K is overrated as fuck anyway also with professional work, colour accuracy is everything.

I like how sleek and well designed modern game consoles are compared to the bullshit PCs look like.
Initially I was looking for living room gaming PC and ended up with this, because nothing on the PC market doesn't look like garbage.

All the components I bought let you turn that shit off. And Im running a 6core intel and two 980 Ti's. My case has no LED garbage either.

Is there a way to make this thing silent at idle or at least quieter in general? I bought one during a sale a couple years ago and found it disappointingly noisy with stock everything.

larger heatsink volume and less/slower fans

buy the biggest heatsink that will fit in your case and run your fans at a low RPM, many companies make special fans designed to run slow for quiet operation. You only need one intake fan, one exhaust, and one on your heatsink. The one on the heatsink isn't even strictly necessary if your two case fans are moving enough air.
Avoid watercooling, especially all in one setups. The pump noise is atrocious and if there's any bubbles in your loop it'll be noisy as hell for weeks until they settle.

As for GPU noise, you'll just have to settle for that. Huge aftermarket GPU heatsinks do exist but I've never used one personally, maybe give that a go.

this case has almost no sound at all and has heavy density foam on all panels and acoustically isolated hdd trays. you dont have a clue what your talking about.
