If you're unfamiliar with the term please feel free to Google it and use Wikipedia to inform yourself about it, yes it involves Microsoft.

What's going on with Microsoft and XBOX?

>Halo and Gears of War didn't sell phenomenally
>Dead Rising 4 is shit according to long term fans
>A lot of their games aren't even exclusive anymore

Feel like there is a juicy story to be uncovered here...

Kamiya just tweeted.

>Granblue Fantasy
I had forgotten they were doing this one, now i'm not as worried for them, they stil have 3 projects in their hands P* will be fine, but XBONE is fucked, since the last reason i had to buy one just went down the drain.

>the last reason i had to buy one
But it was a PC game too.

...

MS is slowly shoveling players to PC. Really it'd be wise for them to get into the PC hardware business and make a cheap prebuilt "console" that is a PC literally, i.e. you start it up and there's W10 and everything.

Was it? I knew KI was in the PC, but if that is true then the question comes, why the fuck someone would buy an XBONE?

Glad to see he is better, he may be saying this, but no one likes to waste 4 years on a project that just dies.

who cares? automata is gonna make so much money.

Please tweet words of support to kamiya in his time of need

he was probably under communication blackout for the duration of this shit. publishers don't really like it when devs go nuclear on them.

They really should. Kids these days already know about those "epic gaming peesees" that their favorite twitch streamers have.

I wonder if they can re-purposes assets or if Microsoft owns them regardless of project's completion.

>Sony gets involved
>Yoko Taro gets involved
>Drakengard 4 happens

any time a huge publisher funds a game, they own everything. Every line of code, every art asset, etc.

I just looked it up. So by saying that, are you trying to imply that microsoft was trying to make platinum put something in Scalebound that would hinder other companies in some way or something? And when platinum said no, that's why microsoft canceled scalebound? I don't really get what you are trying to say.

More like Drakengard 5. Yoko Taro wanted to pull a Leisure Suit Larry with the series

What the fuck IS Gran Blue? I thought it was just some dumb ass mobile shit.

What did he say on twitter on moon runes?

Kamiya is back to normal and spamming his waifu on twitter.
It is, now it's a 3d (coop?) action game

The Windows store is so fucking awful that many just buy an XBO so they don't have to deal with it.

You know, I'm just impressed that the main protagonist of Automata is getting so much fanart from nips and westerners.

Props to Yoshida I suppose, he created an eye candy.

>MS is slowly shoveling players to PC.

If that's the case they've done a piss poor job so far. How many failures does Microsoft have with their PC gaming initiative? GFWL failed twice, Windows store is an abomination and pushing Windows 10 has accomplished nothing.

I'm having faith they'll bounce back, the games they've been releasing have been pretty mediocre but Auomata could be the start of a return to greatness.

It's so awful that they gave out refunds for the new CoD game.

It's by some guys who wanted to make real games, but knew the money was in mobile shit in moonland, so they made Granblue as mobile garbage, and now that they have the money they are making real games, i think they are doing an Action JRPG with Platinum.

I'd love for Nintendo to buy them. In an ideal world they would just make games for every system but they need funding from a publisher and their work on the Wii U with Wonderful 101 and Bayo 2 was excellent.

Over 50% of Steam users are on Windows 10 now.

>Embrace Extend Extinguish

Ok, but what does that have to do with Scalebound getting canceled?

>LOST ORDER

The fuck is this

Probably hinder the other companies projects that were within Platinum. Maybe introduce more bullshit that will force Platinum to allocate more resources to Scalebound.

I hope that one day the Type moon dudes will contact Platinum to make a new Tsukihime game.

...

Cuhrayzeefags won't forgive Automata.

Though I'm seeing those Japanese combo videos so that's something I guess?

>and including products like GRANBLUE FANTASY Project Re:Link and LOST ORDER in the future.
At least we know that wasn't canceled, but Lost Order isn't worth jack shit since its a mobile game, then again, it might help them generate funds in the long term

>Installed W10 for FH3, runs like shit
>well at least Scalebound-

Pretty pissed honestly. I do own an Xbone now, thinking it could be a backup if Scalebound was trash.

Whats worse is I really didn't like Sunset Overdrive

Yeah, because they were free updates. It hasn't resulted in anything for Microsoft because they haven't profited from it in any significant fashion considering how bad the Windows store is/games are compatible with Steam versions.

This.

Hell, companies can own concepts if it's specific enough.

And Platinum is a contract-based company, they don't really go out of their way to go publish their own game.

>I do own an Xbone now
For what purpose

I did google it and know what it means.

So what does it have to do with Scalebound getting canceled?

Video games. Never owned an Xbox console before. So I am basically using it for backwards compatibility which is kind of sad.

>Cuhrayzeefags won't forgive Automata.

Automata is more for Nier fans, though. It's not meant to be a Bayonetta or DMC successor.

>Wants to play video games
>Buys an Xbone
I am so sorry

Yeah, I don't get it either.

Two things I can think of that OP's trying to say: They wanted Platinum to spend a ton of time and effort on Scalebound instead of, eg, Automata, OR

They wanted Platinum to compromise their action game formula in some way - "undermine the standard" - and then have that benefit MS somehow (maybe a Platinum buyout?).

Microsoft profited because now they have all of the personal information of every one of those saps who "upgraded" to Windows 10.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Scorpio is the actual Xbox 4. The Xbox One was a dud and there's hardly any exclusives on it. It wasn't a Wii U-scale disaster but Microsoft pretty much undid everything they accomplished on 360 with "Used games can be played with a $50 activation fee" and "Kinect is included and required." They released a big ugly box that was less powerful and more expensive than PS4 and it sold like shit until MS fixed it, and even now it will never catch up with the PS4.

I hope they get their head out their ass with the Scorpio because even though I prefer the PS4, I really don't like the idea of Sony having no competition. And Switch is not competition for the PS4.

EEE doesn't apply here

>granblue fantasy made by platinum.
I still say this is bizarre.

Well the console game is basically being made by a Japanese Dream Team 2 that hasn't been so well assembled since Chrono Trigger.

Art director is Minaba from FF6 and FF9, Uematsu is composing just as examples.

Basically most of the talent in the JP industry had come together to make a shitload of money with mobile games and they are looking to get back into form with a massive console project.

Nintendo never pulls the trigger on buying companies though. Just imagine if they bought Rare and Capcom when they were on the market. Capcom would have cost them next to nothing, something like 35 million if i remember correctly and they still didn't. Really bad move.

I hate to bring up the whole lost media meme, but doesn't it seem surreal that NOBODY will be able to see or play this game?

The assets are going to be thrown in a vault and never touched again. I'm sure this was a near finished product too. A few years (or rather a few weeks) later people will stop talking about it, and it will be a fully forgotten lost piece of history.

Sure, maybe it was going to be shit, but you'll never know for sure now. It's done. It makes you think how many times this has really happened throughout the years, on how many games we never even heard about.

People have an image of MS being some sort of hypercompetent evil megacorp, but the reality is completely different.

MS is a shell. They're nothing like what they used to be. Far from being an "evil megacorp", they can barely even tie their own shoes. They can only even stay afloat because they basically had a decade of monopoly over the entire computer market.

The talent has left Microsoft. Its management and executives are incompetent. Microsoft has become a bunch of retards managing a bunch of other retards. That's why MS is doing so badly. They have no fucking clue what they're doing any more. All they can do is hold onto Windows as tightly as they can, that product getting worse and worse with each iteration, falling deeper and deeper into the water, kept afloat by a lifeboat made of money.

They are assisting with battle system development mostly. Cygames is still the dev lead. But a lot of big names are working on the game.

>Basically most of the talent in the JP industry had come together to make a shitload of money with mobile games and they are looking to get back into form with a massive console project.

I wonder what Sakaguchi and Mistwalker are up to after Terra Battle made a truckload of cash. They're announcing something this year.

This is actually really cool if it ends up going well. I know the game is ultra popular in Japan, it'd be amazing if someone actually used the cancerous mobile business model to do some good.

I honestly think Yoko Taro and Hideki Kamiya would try to fucking kill each other over creative input.

>The assets are going to be thrown in a vault and never touched again.
I'm sure MS will pick at them for other titles.

>TMNT had co-op
>It was shit
>Scalebound had co-op
>Cancelled
>Granblue has co-op
Please no
>Cygames is still the dev lead
Which at any point might have gone south, the game started development with Granblue's previous producer but he was fired or at least replaced for his fuck-ups and since then they never bothered to tell people how it would affect the game
for a mobage it really isn't that cancerous

I think that would be a VERY likely outcome. They both do crazy, but different kinds of crazy that would not gel well at all.

Windows being the only thing that keeps MS afloat seems to be pretty par-the-course for them. Sometimes they get lucky and have a product that lots of people want, but there's this general perception that everything they do is like they're Apple's ugly big brother. I'm no fan of Apple but Microsoft seriously needs to stop trying to be like them because Microsoft will never be cool.

Blue Dragon 2

Please be excite

Oh yeah, both seems way too controlling to work together, you can't have too many chefs in the same kitchen or ends in a fucking ego fight.

You have to be wary on how much of their projects were banking on Scalebound hitting big. This cancellation could have rippling effect on the entire company. Automata is out of the woods because it's basically finished, but everyone else could be on the chopping block .

Just looked it up, seems like JRPG stuff with no gameplay yet, by the FF12 guys i think, not sure.

I know, they planned o releasing GBF in 2018 so they definetly wanted to wait for a profit from Scalebound, I just hope the game turns out to be at least Transformers-level and because it would still be good and it would sell like hot-cakes in Japan due to popularity

>Nier fans
Which aren't a lot. The number of Platinum fans and action game fans are the ones who will give this game the attention.

Crowbcat btfo dead rising 4 and sold me dead rising 1, god bless that individual.

GBF is funded by some of the most successful mobile games in Japan.

Project Re:Link is an AAA Japanese game in scope and cost. I'm pretty sure Platinums successes or failure will have little impact on this game.

>Lost Order

What's this?

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed TMNT?

It looks really good and runs smoothly and has great controls. It's the skill cool-offs and no local multiplayer that sucks though.

im fucking blocked though.

Mobile game, I wouldn't think too much about it.

None of those games seemed worth it.

CROWBCAT IF YOU'RE HERE (I know you come here faggot) MAKE A VIDEO ON MICROSOFT'S 2014 E3 AND IT'S CANCELED GAMES

I worked hard for thsi

>Star Fox Zero was average at best with a few stand out moments
>Nier Automata looks hype as fuck
>Scalebound looked middling at best.

It looked like Scalebound was a good ways in development. What's the chance that the game leaks out eventually?

That almost never happens, but reusing the assets isn't entirely out of the question.

A project from a lot of top talent in the Japanese games industry of guys wanting to basically make a new Square Enix. So far successful starting with mobile games.

But so much of the game had to have been finished. It's hard to imagine a game of such high quality being aborted and never seeing the light of day. How hard is it to just save that shit on a flash drive?

It's common though, you're just hearing a shitload about this because it's 2017 and Platinum games was trendy as well as Scalebound was supposed to be a system seller.

>we will strive to continue delivering low-grade weeb trash

The quicker this company dies the better

I'm pinning all this on MS honestly. Given this fiasco, what happened with Obsidian and what happened to Phantom Dust it's pretty clear that unless you're making the type of game they want on their system you're tempting fate by partnering with them.

so who would want to even make games for the bone anymore

Will they make Loli Dragon adventure for the ps4 and pc now instead?

>Scalebound
>game of high quality

Nobody does

Where is this meme coming from? We barely saw any of the game. We have literally no idea how good or bad it really was.

It's obvious that MS tried to take over the game for executive bullshit

Platinum would get sued out the ass.
Microsoft owns all the assets and Platinum signed a contract. Nothing from Scalebound is getting out.

Microsoft has the touch-of-death. Trying to kill Windows to turn it into Xbone10.
Killing all their "exclusives" left and right, even this game which clearly had to be god damn far in development they probably butted in (probably with a "I know the game is about a protag and his dragon, but 4 player coop is IN now so please repurpose your game to have it") and killed it too.

You can blame the people who work with them for not recognizing this, so its their own fault.

>How hard is it to just save that shit on a flash drive?

Anooooon, this is a fucking 18+ site please, you cannot NOT understand business to this level...

Alright Sup Forums, who do you want playable in Granblue? If you don't know the characters just look at gbf.wiki/SSR_Characters_List and let your dick decide

I don't know what a game development office looks like but I know a couple computers have to have the full assembled thing on there for testing. They released videos with real gameplay so at least a piece of that game is compiled.

Who the fuck was trying to spread that rumor anyways?

Directed by Matsuno with artwork by Akihiko Yoshida and music by Sakamoto. Might turn out decent.

>keeps shitting out real turd games
>is a giant money sink
>is shitcanned by console publisher who is already selling their pipedream of a next console during last E3

Just downloaded and am playing Shadowverse and it's kinda fun as a vs computer card game. The big vampire guy seems pretty cool. Lots of good porn of Cagliostro. Other than that far too many semen demons to decide.
