Is this the most timeless RPG ever made?

Is this the most timeless RPG ever made?

Yes.

You can put a J in front of it, but it's not an RPG.

no

I dunno, but it is my favorite.

definitely in the running, fuck the last boss tho the fight is just me rezzing my party over and over

Well it does involve time traveling of course its timeless

This is something i dont understand at all. I played through it and it seemed alright, but everyone goes on about how its the best game ever. Am i missing something?

Taste.

It's just plain good.

probably just not your type of game user, people have different opinions of damn near everything, people love the fuck out of Furi when I think its trash

Probably nostalgia. I played through it recently and it was alright, but nothing mind blowing.

i was blasting through it listening to sick jams and using x attacks when all of a sudden i got demolished by some floating robot fucker named giga niga or some shit like that. What the hell is with the change of difficulty

gg

Is the final phase even working as intended? You can keep one bit and the boss itself dead while slowly whacking at the final core which does almost nothing.
I always felt they accidentally swapped the health and win condition between the core and that bit.

nah its lavos fucking with you the core/humanoid bit is a decoy the REAL one is in the little pod that is intended

Then why are all the flashy, high damage attacks on the main body?
It doesn't add up.

its to confuse you so that you focus the core and not kill the little core they want you to think that is the real boss and be confused when it keeps getting revived with no end

Just admit they fucked it up and never fixed it in later releases for the sake of consistency.
That fight makes virtually no sense and that bait and switch does nothing but trivialize the entire thing.
>let's just make it easier to fuck with your head
Yeah, right.

Nobody made a time travel joke?

Yeah if you know the stats beforehand it doesn't make a lot of sense but if you're going in blind which you would for a game of that era it's a pretty neat trick.

I mean that's why they did it, you can take it or leave it, makes sense to me that he is the little pod since lavos is a parasite faggot

Don't be silly, it's got lots of time, that's what it's about. Like five different epochs at the very least.

If it's intentional, it's shit design. Right bit is absolutely no threat on its own.

keep up the j-cuck circlejerk
you will never discover any of the good games

super nintendo is for faggots

That's one scary trip you've got there, lad.

i played through it for the first time last year and i thought it was magical

Dues Ex

You need to be a weeb and have never touched a good WRPG

Might not be your type of game.

Still, what makes Chrono Trigger so good is just how tight and thoughtful everything is in its design. Sidequests aren't just random fetch quests but actually real quests that take you on mini adventures that all tie back into the main story and characters and through these sidequests, you learn some extra bits about each of the characters and they get just that much more fleshing out. Nothing feels unimportant. It's also cool to see how certain parts of the story in the past actually do effect things in the future times. The story is also pretty interesting with an odd turn of events and coincidences smartly twisting into a journey across time to stop a giant parasite from destroying the world. The antagonist was also pretty interesting in that it wasn't even really a villain. It was an alien parasite just going off of its instincts to evolve itself and reproduce. The soundtrack is also one of the best the SNES has to offer. Not a single track, jingle, or sound effect is forgettable. Not to mention, Chrono Trigger had the balls to kill a character off long before the days of FF7 and it was the MAIN FUCKING CHARACTER. Sure, you can get him back and the game wants you to but you could flat out miss doing so and still beat the game, getting a different ending for it. Plus, the multiple endings thing was pretty neat since the endings would differ not so much based on what you did in the game but rather WHEN you decided to go after the final boss. Battle system was also pretty cool for its time and has aged fairly well. It's classic ATB turn based but enemies actually had their own completely unique abilities instead of having padding their move pools out with generic spells. Some fights were actually more strategic as well with having to do things like hit an enemy with lightning first to drop its defense for a few turns or hitting another enemy with fire to destroy its wooden weapon. Combo techs were cool too.

Think of it this way. Right bit is where all of the genetic information and power is actually stored but it has no way to actually utilize that power which is why it creates the other bits to defend it and throw enemies off of focusing on the real bit. It's Lavos's core. It's a pretty common thing in games for the core of something to be a weak point with no defense in and of itself which is why other defense mechanisms are always put in place to protect the core. It's the same concept here but instead of making it blatantly obvious by making it some literal glowing core inside of a machine, the designers chose to obfuscate it and make it more of a light puzzle to figure out. It's a clever take on an already cliche concept and it's done in such a way that makes sense given the context of the monster you're fighting.

It's the not good. Fuck me I don't get it.
Also short as hell with 18 hours to finish it

Probably the most solidly made JRPG in terms of mechanics yeah.

Good game, but fucking overrated as hell. It and FFVII are the most overrated RPGs ever made

I see what you did there.

that's the gimmick, almost every boss has something

It's a really underwhelming gimmick for a final boss.
Why even give the middle part unique attacks for every time period depending on the background if it's dead for 90% of the fight?
Side bits can only heal and debuff while dealing laughable damage.
I don't know if they were trying to be clever there or genuinely fucked up this fight, but it's hella disappointing after everything that builds up to it.
