I got the Wii U 2nd hand and I'm planning on doing the same for the Switch. PS4 was nice but playing 1 game (a multiplat at that) for the 3 years I owned it seems like a bigger ripoff especially when I was paying an annual fee for the privilege

I got a generic one online rather than a Nintendo branded one. Wii U accepted it and I've had no issues online

I've never had serious issues playing over wifi on any console (PS4 dl times are junk always), and Switch has 5ghz capabilities so thats gonna fly even better for me. If you are some nigger with no good wifi around, 10 bucks is a small, one time price to pay to play online, its not like being forced to pay a subscription just to do that.

i've had problems even wired up, but thats starting to subside now. I can see how essential wired connections seem to be if you play games mainly on other consoles, but Nintendo has found a very nice groove wirelessly.

The only source I'm seeing in threads is from the screaming nigger, and he says its gonna be free at launch. I guess that implies that will change in the future, but it can also mean it wont. If Splatoon is a launch game as has also been "leaked", you cant cut off support like that.

As in using your phone as a hotspot and connecting your Switch to it while on the go.
It would eat up 4G/high speed data though, so people would be playing on much slower speeds.

The scenario is likely, but I suspect the experience would be pretty bad for the mobile user so they wouldnt last long.

i've only used the wifi on the ps4 slim, but it's good enough to where i don't mind using it if my move my console to another room. much better than all my other consoles with wifi at least.

switch will probably be just as bad as the 3ds, 'cause everyone playing outside of the range of their access points.
