Let's get a sega comfy thread going. Discuss sega games from the SG-1000 to now.

NIGHTS into dreams... is a pretty good game.
Any love for Resonance of Fate? I absolutely loved that game.
a lot
It's alot of fun I really liked it
Have it but haven't played it yet. Is it a shooter or rpg, or both?
I found it ok.
The battlesystem was awesome.
Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 on Gamecube are incredible and I wish I had the time these days to get into Yakuza. I'm glad SEGA is still out there being SEGA, still making weird shit and still embracing their arcade roots.
Looking forward to whatever they have in store for Sonic this year as well.
>Have it but haven't played it yet. Is it a shooter or rpg, or both?
both
go to the Arena when you play it for the first time
you can learn there, how the battlesystem works
>there will never be a sequel
I'm planning on playing through the Yakuza series soon. I'm glad that still take lots of risks, like Yakuza and Hatsune Miku.
how would you even do a sequel? the game pretty much ended completely.
people are no longer bound to the crystals and the world is not polluted again, so what would you do with it?
remember Shinobi?
Fuck yeah I do, was actually playing a bit of Revenge of Shinobi a few days ago.
I always preferred Sonic 3 to Sonic 2 but suddenly I feel like I'm enjoying Sonic 2 more. Is this just cause I've played Sonic 3 more times?
Shinobi III > Shinobi (PS2) > Revenge of the Shinobi > Shadow Dancer
still didn't play the 3ds one
Shinobi 3 is a top tier game. How's the 3DS one?
It might be the shorter levels.
Give it a shot, bad art style aside it's surprisingly decent.
Sonic 3 was always my least favorite of the 4
I don't even give a fuck what they would do storywise. Just improve on the combat.
Shit just make a prequel about Vashyron before he found Zephyr and Leanne.
as a rts faggot i have to say the stuff they publish to this day since the mid 2000s is so good
That may be part of it I feel.
It just feels weird since S3K was my first Sonic game so I assumed my constant replays and debug mode usage made me burned out on the game.
Kind of unrelated, but I also feel weird remembering I managed to grow up on S3K and Sonic Adventure 2 at the exact same time, what does that make me if I played the adventure games and the classic games when I was younger and still enjoy them?
Why does Sega make the best music?
Really got to get a 3ds, if not just for the 3d mega drive games.
I don't know why people say 2 is the best one i like them all for their own reasons, but 2 is just not the best one when 3 & knuckles exist
>hill top zone is alright i guess
>oil zone is not that great
>3 stages of the worst zone because reasons
>followed by a fucking autoscroller
>no rings for the last boss
>worst special stages i don't believe anyone can do them flawlessly without pause buffering
They about the only one making quality rhythm games too
Because they know fun.
>no rings for the last boss
To be fair if you lose a life S3K does this if you don't meet the requirements for Doomsday
>worst special stages
>have enough rings barely
>tails doesn't get with the program
I don't get how people can say Blue Sphere is worse than this shit
I softmodded my PS2 and put those Sega Ages 25000 collections on it. They're really great
What's a good way to soft mod a PS2? I want to play alot of imports on it
Everything about this game is comfy.
>The sound effects
>The music
>Graphics
>tfw we'll never get a remake or real sequel
I used FreeMcboot.

not the drop rate
It's more or less like a japanese diablo now
S3K autist here, you probably just played too much of it. I can personally lay claim to having completed S3K at least 30 times, and that number goes up significantly (probably above 100) when you consider Tails and Knuckles playthroughs, playing each half as separate games, Blue Sphere, dicking around in Level Select/Debug Mode, and ROM hack playthroughs. Recently I've found myself playing through Sonic 2 and CD and enjoying them far more than I would if I just played S3K again, since I never played them very much as a kid.
I think this is part of why I'm so hyped for Sonic Mania. I can separate my own emotions from the equation and say with confidence that S3K is the best in terms of features and content (extra characters, mini-bosses, elemental shields, act transitions etc.) but when it comes down to it, I've pretty much gotten all I can out of that game. It sure will be nice to get a new Sonic that expands on the features S3K introduced, but with new levels, remixed levels, and gorgeous new Saturn styled graphics.
Anyone got any cabs?
I love the Naomi/Net City design.
I wish. Maybe when I get a job in a couple years
Original Cave 2 > Ult Cave 2
I don't understand the battle like at all. Any one willing to step by step a retard?
I found that girl cute and hot. But holy shit that battle. I am completely loss. Dropped after several battle. I always want to know any lewd costume for her?
>do damage with machinegun
>then do damage with handgun or grenades
>always try to stay behind something so that the enemy doesn't hit you
HOW THE FUCK DO I ACTIVATE TERMINALS
Also who should I give the SMG to? It's with Leanne at the moment because she's underleveled compared to the boys.
This game will get Nier'd and get a sequel, bros.
Can anything match the comfiness of a long session of M2's 3DS port of OutRun? Are there any other SEGA racing classics I need to play, if I've already played through the majority of OutRun, Hang-On and Daytona games?
which terminals?
If she has the highest smg level, then sure.
Are you rushing through the game or are you doing sidequests? I would recommend doing some extra stuff to make the later game easier.
>Yakuza 0
>Persona 5
>Daytona 3 Championship USA
>Sonic Mania
>Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone
they pretty much saved the ps4 in my eyes. if only they were still making consoles.
The white terminals (uncolored?)
Also I do every sidequest before advancing the chapter. I'm at Chapter 7 and oh boy I'm running out of hexes and I know I'm gonna get shit on in the mines.
That infinite money exploit is neat, I bought two handguns.
if i remember correctly, you got to put a thing that changes it's color and then use color hex or something, it's been a while.
If that's the case, you shouldn't have much problems in the future.
wait wait, daytona comes out on ps4?
>he doesnt know
hated it as a kid, tried it again and still hate it. i still don't understand what i'm supposed to do
IT'S NOT FUCKING FAIR
...
moebius is dead and the art would probably look generic as fuck
It may be dead but it could be about Azel trying to find Edge
>sega thread that made it past 50 replies
thought i was in /vr/ for a second
... and the nostalgia suddenly envelops me. Oh man I miss that game and its unique sort of jank.
Virtua Tennis was the one sports game I liked.
Because it's comfy man
>sega killed off All stars racing transformed with their handling of the game
Will always feel 500% mad by that.
What was wrong with it?
Sure, we can discuss sega.
>Sega of japan fucks up the genesis launch in america by partnering it with tonka
>Sega of japan FIXES this by hiring tom kalinske and letting him run SoA
>SoJ tries to fuck up the ONLY good thing they have going for them, sonic the hedgehog. Created a horrid sonic OC to rival that of DA, complete with twin neck guitar, fangs, devil bat wings and heavy metal leather clothes. Is fixed by tom kalinske.
>SoA switches the pack in to sonic as he feels its a better game.
>SoJ screams at SoA for this, tried to fire tom.
>SoA dumps SoJ's ad agency. Switches from SoJ's standard nintendo based ads to the famous Sega Scream. SoJ tries to have tom fired.
>SoA is dominating the SNES. They own more of the market share, they are on better terms with the retailers than Nintendo and theyre turning decent profits.
>SoJ is failing. Their nintendo based marketing isnt working and their sonic sales are abysmal. SoJ tries to fire tom for this.
>SoJ decided that they are done with this gen since the genesis is failing in japan (which only makes 20% of the market), but doing well in america (still number 1 in almost every category, but nintendo is catching up because of DKC).
>SoJ decides to release addons for the genesis. SoA says this is a bad idea, people want a new console, not expensive addons. SoJ ignores this until they try to use these words to fire tom.
>tom kalinske comes to them with a proposition from Sony. They want to co-produce the PS1 with sega. Each one would split the profits 50/50 for the system and the 3rd party titles, but keep their first party titles profits. SoJ turns this down instantly and tries to fire tom.
>SoJ decides its time to make the saturn project finalized. Hides the system specs from SoA because their american.
>SoA sees the horrid shape that the saturn is in (despite them trying to hide it) and tom puts them onto the SGI chip (n64's eventual chip). SoJ instantly turns this down and tries to fire tom for this.
1/2
>SoJ has now somehow convinced their CEO that all of SoA's success was all SoJ's doing. Tom did nothing.
>SoJ says that all genesis sales worldwide are to stop. That this gen is over. No more to be sold.
>the saturn was designed and built in 9 months. It turns out to be a horrid system to program for. Launches it anyway. had 3 titles for launch. only 1 sold.
>Forces the saturn launch early in america by 7 months out of the blue. Pisses off everyone. No games are ready for it. It has 4 games for 9 months.
>SoA is now told to fire the team who made the sega scream. Goes back to nintendo commercials.
they lose their key demographic. They try and fire tom for the low sales of the saturn and the lost profits from the genesis being discontinued early.
>tom quits.SoJ replaced him with a man who instantly went to war with every single one of the 3rd party publishers/studios.
>Okawa, a well known and profitable japanese businessman, comes in and explains calmly how fucking stupid he has been. Nakayama leaves
>Launches the dreamcast with the SOLE purpose of rebuilding the sega loyalty lost by SoJ. Lets SoA do whatever they want because it worked before.
>SoA does amazing. Launches seganet , brings back the Sega scream & brings tons of 3rs parties back
>The only failure with the dreamcast was SoJ's Sato (the head of R&D and all consoles built around his whims) demanded that it NOT be based on DVD's and rather his CD based disc because he was super impressed he got a CD to 1gig and thought the would would accept his as the new format.
>Okawa kills the dreamcast as the ps2 killed it with the dvd capability. has sega firing on all cylinders working on ports of their games to other consoles
>Okawa dies, but leaves Sega almost twice as much money as their debt, bringing them not only into the black, but erasing all debt period. His Last edict before he died was to give sega time to make good games at the correct pace to keep the good faith they earned with the dreamcast.
Isao Okawa was a real hero
to bad his replacement ignored everything he did. Sonic 06 was made in 8 months. and even the director said it was barely in alpha when it was forced to be published
Nice history lesson mate, pretty sure any SEGA diehard knows most of this anyway. We're here to be comfy fambo
The history of Sega always depresses me
Star cruiser is an interesting little game.
how can you be comfy in a thread about literally fucking up at every turn, despite the world trying to hand you money.
Haven't heard of it. What's it for
Cause they make games still......somewhat
They seem to be doing well now at least, and despite the memeing about the franchise, and with good reason, I have faith Mania and 2017 will be good.
Same. Nationalist pride really hurt them.
all I know is I want SEGA to localize Puyo Puyo...please.
Genesis. It's an RPG of sorts.
First Person. And it's a Sci-fi one.
Oh. And was translated a while back.
Sega itself hasnt made a good game in a long time.
Their aquired studios have, sure. but segas inhouse teams? no.
Sonic generations was a great game, but it was because they left Miyamoto do his own shit
SASR did fine because they let Sumo Digital do their own shit with their IP.
SM will be good because a 3rd party is being left alone to do what they need to with sonic.
Sumo Digital was preparing themselves for continuing to support Transformed with DLC, mainly character DLC. They even had a poll which had people like Ryo Hazuki, Hatsune Miku (not a fan but i cant complain since Sega handles that property massively), and Bayonetta (though thet claimed that it wouldnt happen even if she got #1 due to her content).
Well sometime after the poll SEGA, in all of their wisdom, decided to pickup the Yogscast for some cross promotion of the game and themselves. Sumo Digital themselves were questioning SEGA's move with this and even asked SEGA to release a few character DLC before the Yogscast release, but they told them no. To compensate, Sumo made the DLC paid to lessen their impact so that people who didnt want it wouldnt pay for it, with all proceeds going to charity.
Obviously as you can see, the problem lies with the fact that SEGA decided to put a youtube group that, at the time NEVER MADE A VIDEO FEATURING A SEGA GAME BEFOREHAND, having higher priority over the characters featured in the tallyed(sp?) up poll which most SEGA fans both old and new voted on. The amount of rage that went on in the steam forums was immense, not helped by the fact that the yogscast themselves had little interest in the game itself.
playing 3D streets of rage, never get tired of this series.
>Sega itself hasnt made a good game in a long time.
miku would like a word with you
Fun Fact: Dynamite Headdy's hidden boss was a jab at the president of SoJ at the time, with him using money as a weapon. Treasure knew their titles were selling more in the west than in Japan and they knew the 32X was doomed from the start.
How ironic that it was Sega of Japan themselves and Bernie Stolar that were fucking up everything.
If only Nintendo could be humbled in the same manner.
Also where the hell is my Shining Force Anthology SEGA? It's like you DON'T want all of my money!
Who does Yakuza? Also, Miku.
This, and don't forget Alien Isolation and Valkyria Chronicles and some total war games and sonic generations
oh wow, i always wondered what the fuck was the deal with that, because it doesn't make any sense in terms of the story
>how can you be comfy in a thread about literally fucking up at every turn
Not that user but that literally doesn't even make any sense. SEGA fucking up monumentally business-wise doesn't make their golden era games any less great and/or comfy. Can you not separate your enjoyment of a game from the internal company politics that went into making/breaking them?
No wonder most of Sup Forums don't enjoy vidya anymore
Are the Project Diva games actually good? I know Sega can make good rhythm games because of Space Channel 5 but I don't really care about Vocaloid.
I'd rather ask in a this thread instead of that other one.
I always thought vocaloid was annoying but I tried out the demo for Project Mirai and loved it cause some of the songs were catchy, I proceeded to buy it and all the vita games. I wouldn't call myself a vocaloid fan but I'm a fan now of the game series and they're the best rhythm series on the market today
They're tough as fuck and pretty simple, but if you dig rhythm games and j-pop they're fun. They appeal to the part of me that's nostalgic about late night anime or cinematech on G4 before it went to shit with the music videos and soundtrack, I just wish I was better at the game.
Long story short I wouldn't really listen to many of the songs on their own, but playing the game they're great
Yeah, like this guy I don't care about vocaloids or the fan service, but the games are solid.
I have been playing Dreamcast pc ports and nostalgiad big time.
I really miss that arcadey feel Sega put into alot of their games at the time.
Yeah I don't do any of the dress up shit or "hang with miku" stuff, but the actual game is great
Allegedly, the reason Sega's seen a turnaround in recent years is because the CEO of Sega and Sammy handed it over to his grandson, who basically decided they would refocus on home consoles, regaining their reputation, and localising their titles for the West. He probably likes Sega games himself.
CRAZZZZZY TAXI
If you haven't played Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, highly recommend you do. It totally captures Sega arcady greatness.
Sounds promising. Going to try the new one and see how I like it.
>still no Skies of Arcadia port
Does Legends run well on Dolphin?
So anyone knows what's Sega's deal with Shenmue III? Apparently they lost the IP to Yu Suzuki.
I haven't played future tone but I hear alot of people like it. No physical tho ;_;
Yu Suzuki asked for the ip and SEGA just gave it to him.
I read that they bought a bunch of Shenmue-related URLs recently for a potential HD remasters of Shenmue I & II.
It should not have been possible for anyone to destroy a company as great as Sega but... they found a way...
If it's to be lost to anyone, you could not ask for a better person to lose it to.
