they can, Sup Forums is just full of dumb weebs that wish they could live in a shithole like japan
Command and Conquer
Halo
Doom
Donkey Kong
Blizzard used to have fantastic music.
Modern Warfare 2
Anything by Jeremy Soule
Whoever did the original Halo Trilogy tracks
they can, they just choose not to most of the time
World of Warcraft
Witcher 3
Total War
Homeworld
You need to look at older western games for good music like Morrowind. Western music these days just isn't fucking memorable at all and can't hold a candle to NieR OST or even Bayonetta OST.
Japs can only make silly upbeat platforming music though. Their orchestral music always sounds generic and forgettable, and their metal and techno are cheesier than Gouda.

>Sonic 3
>Halo
>Fallout 1
>Sims 1
>Civilization 4
I think the more likely case is that you don't really know much about vidya. Stop posting on Sup Forums and get to work.
They can, it's just most devs nowadays opt for generic "epic" Hollywood garbage
jap composers aim for F U N
western composers aim for hollywood-tier cinematic scores and ambiance
Jake 'Virt' Kaufman.
youtu.be
Because all Western shit is based on profit. No one cares for videogames. No one makes games because they love them, they just do it because its their job. They just pay someone to make the music and that someone doesnt also give 2 fuck about the game that his music will be in.
But in Japan there are passsionate lads that love what they do.
youtube.com
>used to
Because Sup Forums
1. have shit taste and
2. full of weebs
3. cannot appreciate good ambient and mood pieces
Isn't that simple?
You know OP if you want people to post good western music you just need to ask

>not In the Halls of the Usurper
Shit taste as to be expected.
>Kenji Yamamoto
>Western
Deus Ex had GOAT music
youtube.com
youtube.com
Hey I like pretty much all of SK's OST, I just see Plains of Passage and Hall of the Usurper posted here all the time.
but Killer Instinct is western and has the best fighting game ost of all time

Whoa there mate. I like KI music but those are some hot opinions.
>Why can't western devs make memorable music?
fucking kek
Pick any Red Dead Redemption track, any.
everything in the west is designed by committee
Name one (1) song which is better than Call of Magic. I'll wait
youtube.com
Road Most Traveled
Peaceful Waters
youtube.com
Jeremy Soule is pretty based.
I like Red Alert
But yeah Japs devs in general pay more attention to music. Square and Falcom probably pay more to musician than writer.
People may give Skyrim shit but I love the OST. The Main Theme is fantastic.
pic related series has great soundtrack, if you don't with me you're faggot.
how can the west even compete
Fuck the doom ost is fucking gorgeous.
youtube.com
youtube.com
Why's it gotta be a competition, can't we just enjoy both jap and western music as long as it's good.
>Sonic 3
Retard alert
First three minutes were good, but than it's one winged angle typical stuff.
Deux Ex has great music
Best NieR song: youtube.com
Sonic is japanese,Also Sonic 2 have better music
You're on a website made for weeaboos, of course they're gonna post nipponese music
Western music isn't memorable. It all sounds the same and just fades into the background like some ambient music
youtube.com
And guess what? There's a western ARPG with shit gameplay, but good story and music. Just like your NieR.
He's talking about how Howard Drossing composed for S3&K besides Jun and company. Also there are Western made OSTs in the series with the Saturn version of 3D Blast and Sonic R by Richard Jaques who also did some Jet Set Music.
On that note, Mania is going to have some sweet tunes from Tee Lopes.
Don't forget Plague of Shadows too, I love the clusterfuck music that is the Shovel Knight boss music, suited the battle brilliantly
youtube.com
western games are shit
but there's some good stuff
youtube.com
Because most western vidya soundtracks belong to the background of a movie, not a videogame
Because nips pay their composers more, and nip vidya composers know they're composing for games. Most western vidya composers have sob stories about how they wanted to compose in the movie industry and got thrown out.
This, why u all can't just listen and appreciate both?
Tim Follin
>western games are shit
DKC, Shovel Knight, Rayman, etc.
East vs West threads are some of the worst threads on Sup Forums.
>shovel knight
>not shit
>Not Cold Steel Coffin
>Not Ultimate Weapon
>Not Kaine/Salvation
Stop.jpg
Jeremy Soule
Frank Klepacki
Tommy Tallarico
David Wise
Alexander Brandon
This list can keep expanding, and I'm only including objectively brilliant ones, not personal choices like Mark Klem, Stephan Picq, and Lee Jackson / Bobby Prince
First post best post
yeah those are shit
and donkey kong is japanese
So this... is the power of... Nippon composers... woah
More shit that you don't know about video games. Go figure.
billboard.com
>Donkey Kong Country
>Japanese
Donkey Kong may be a Japanese IP but Retro is American.
>Not Prestigious Mask
youtube.com
How can their orchestra even compete
youtube.com
Retro is also fucking based and have made Nintendo's best games.
youtube.com
Western composers can't even compete!
as much as contrarians like to shit on it, HALO 3 had a fantastic score.
youtube.com
>Yfw the Plague of Shadows appears.
>Yfw the real final boss appears.
youtube.com
Fucking David Bergeaud, the music of PS2 Ratchet and Clank. Also Jak and Daxter music. Also Crash music. Also you are fucking retarded.
I was waiting for this to be posted, this shit makes me laugh my ass off every fucking time.
WOULD I?
>listening to vidya music
>instead of muting the audio and playing Iron Maiden or Queen or The Replacements
GG> BB personally
youtube.com
>western composers aren't experimental enough to sample porn
stop trying any time soon, west
youtube.com
Transistor in every music rhread
>Their orchestral music always sounds generic and forgettable
youtube.com
ARE YOU SORRY??
I guess it's because of the scene it was used in but this one has always stuck to me.
youtube.com
>All Plague Knight wanted was for Mona to love him
>In canon plot his plan is thwarted by Shovel knight
>Mona leaves out of false jealousy for the Magicist
>Plague knight never gets a chance to reconcile
>yfw you realise that's why she's with Specter knight in Shovel knights ending and you destroyed the only loving relationship Plague knight and Mona will possibly ever have
...
The koreans blew GG out of the water.
youtube.com
Nothing will ever beat the korean soundtrack.
I'm glad we didn't get this bad end.

>TFW 2:20
All of the spyro OG trilogy is great, even that fourth game with the horrible framerate is good.
Get fucked OP.
Those are cute doggos.
>Korean game music
Literally unbeatable.
youtube.com
Too bad their games are below trash-level.
I feel like Bastion was stronger, but you're right, Darren Korb should be in this thread. OP is retarded.
youtu.be
this OST is pretty much the perfect hybrid mix of American country/western and Indian music
>who is grant kirkhope
Spyro actually doesn't have any good music at all.
It just has very a recognizable style of music.
It's extremely generic and plain.
A guy who makes BOING-BOING ZoowooOOp BOING-sounding generic stuff.
