Everyone is saying that the Switch is gonna have a wonderful launch/launch window lineup but when we look at the lineup so far its literally just full of ports

>Smash Bros port
>BOTW port
>MK8 port
>Splatoon port
>Skyrim port

people say "oh well user no one bought Wii Us" but each of these games sold tremendously well even though the Wii U sold like shit. Mario Kart 8 has a 60% attach rate for fucks sake

nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/software/wiiu.html

Do people really think everyone is gonna buy the same games(with a few things thrown in) again?

Well, I am.

All those games, except Skyrim, are good. So what? It's a good lineup. Plus MK8 already showed more new content.
The ps4 got mostly remasters of ps3 games for 3 years straight and people sucked its dick anyway.

Yes? People bought GTAV 2-3 times due to ports and generational jumps

But this is all speculation, as always, how do you know how many new titles it'll have or not have? Just wait tomorrow, man

>Do people really think everyone is gonna buy the same games(with a few things thrown in) again?
yes

Having high sales on a garbage sold system is still garbage sold user

Also your ignoring that Zelda BOTW is a game people have been waiting for

>but when we look at the lineup so far its literally just full of ports
It might help if any of that was actually confirmed

my nigga smash bros sold 5 million, mk8 sold 8 million and splatoon which is a completely new ip sold 4.5 million

thats amazon considering the wii u barely sold a little over 10 million units

>literally just full of ports

So the same thing the PS4 did to pad its lineup? Have you forgotten that the PS4's library was complete shit for an entire two years after launch and people still bought it.

That's just how it goes with new consoles.

I don't understand this mindset, either.

It's safe to assume Nintendo fans are what kept the Wii U afloat and (based off of the attach rates) they've played most of the Switch's rumored launch lineup already. Smash, Splatoon and even MK8 weren't enough to make the Wii U a hit with casuals, so what are the chances those people will go out and buy these "old" games (that they apparently didn't want) for a new system?

Nintendo is betting the farm on casuals again and it's going to end the same way it did with the Wii U.

>Everyone is saying that the Switch is gonna have a wonderful launch
no they're not, stop making things up just to shit on it. we won't know the confirmed launch titles until the event, can't you just fucking wait one day

The rumors are just disappointing enough to be believable.

>mk8 sold 8 million
And Mario Kart Wii broke 36m
I don't like ports, but I understand the reasoning

Smash, Splatoon and MK8 aren't games you play through once and never touch again though. I'm happy to have them available on the Switch, especially if the Switch sells better than the Wii U. If they're charging $60 for them it's a bit silly, I think it would be wise to price them at $45 or less to make the switch more enticing.

you realize that was a concept trailer, right?

are people confusing backwards compatibility for ports again? why the fuck would nintendo reveal their launch line-up in a reveal teaser?

I find it funny that people have pondered the possibility of ports so much that they now believe that they are actually happening. Besides some bits from a concept trailer, there is no reason to think any of these are happening. Especially Smash Bros which wasn't even in the trailer at all.

>Switch literally coming out in two months
>E3 is a few months after Switch releases
>"hurr y wud nintedno sho their launch gaems???"

>switch
>backwards compatible
Are you alright user? Do you have brain damage?

>Nintendo is betting the farm on casuals again and it's going to end the same way it did with the Wii U.

A huge financial success?

I doubt it. Nintendo is chasing casuals on iOS now. Switch is too little too late. The reason PS4 sold well was because people bought it as a Bluray/netflix machine that can game.

>Do people really think everyone is gonna buy the same games(with a few things thrown in) again?
If the system more convinient?
Yes.
If the price is alright?
Yes
If people can whoop it out on the go and whenever?
Yes

The reveal teaser from three months ago was purely about the concept of the system. They wanted to show that and get the massage across. The launch line up is for tomorrow's thing.

I'd rather have new games on a new system. Seeing ports out the ass makes Nintendo look desperate.

Even if the ports are cheap, I doubt they'd allow save files or purchased DLC to be transferred (or reimbursed).

What? Are you trying to say Mario Kart and Splatoon won't be on Switch?

The ports will have all of their old WiiU DLC included since Nintendo is probably looking for an excuse to sell you to same game for exactly the same price as the base WiiU Game.

>BOTW Port

Remind me what its being ported from?

Let me remind you that the Wii U version isnt being developed anymore

He's saying they weren't formerly announced

All we know is that the Splatoon ip will be used. Is it a port? A remaster? A sequel? Will it have additional content? And so on

There's no reason to think there won't be new games as well, user. Letting these other games languish on a console nobody bought is just stupid.

They were showing that you could play Nintendo games in the different situations that the Switch can accommodate. The Wii U's reveal trailer had a bunch of "games" and ports that never released on the system, with the one exception being NSMBU.

Looking at Skyrim Remastered and Last of Us Remastered, yes.

Also, there's Breath of the Wild and Mario 3D potentially, and the ports seem to have additional content, anyway.

Let me remind you that no one bought the Wii U. If the Switch sells, say 20M units, that's another 10M customer exposed to these games that were wasted on the Wii U.

What exactly do you think Nintendo has been doing ever since they ditched the WiiU years ago?

Most people skipped the Wii U so it makes sense.

Nintendo marketers who go around randomly shouting Sony and calling everything Nintendo does ambiguously "comfy" are saying their tablet with tiny controllers glued to the side that only plays ports in 720p is "wonderful?" I can't believe it OP! It's too ridiculous to be true!

It's too early to shitpost. Wait after the presentation

I guess I'd like to see some new games announced during the presentation. ;_;

Nintendildos are literally defending fucking ports in this thread.

The thing is it is unironically okay when Nintendo does it. That's just facts.

There's a difference between making ports of a garbase selling system

and making a port of a game from a console that sold at a great rate

The Wii U isnt the 360 or PS3, not even fucking close

You guys are acting as if we arent getting new games

and again, these ports actually matter

>DQ Builders confirmed

Source? Just picked this up on PS4 a few months back, but I'd love to have it on the go.

I'm not disagreeing. I actually meant it when I said it was okay due to the circumstances.

You know what would really restore my faith in nintendo?

A trade in program for Wii-U owners to bring in their physical disks and get download codes for the switch versions.

>ports in 720p

There's that word again

How many fucking times do we have to tell you that the portable screen being 720p is not a fucking problem?

It's better than the 3DS, Vita and Wii U Screen

Why are you constantly memeing this fuck face

I honestly don't think the majority of the wii u ports will even be ready on day one. I just trust nintendo squandering every opportunity to do something good and just demand we be patient.

Cool, shame I already have a tablet.

There's nothing wrong with ports that will be considered new games for the audience Nintendo is trying to get back.

You guys are acting as if we arent getting new games

Zelda Breath of the Wild is still a game the fucking majority are going to buy on Switch, it's not a port if both were made at the same time

That's not even mentioning the fact that MK8 and Splatoon are going to have new content along with the extra DLC in it by default

and it's not like we have a new 3D fucking Mario coming or anything which people wanted as a launch game over another NSMB

>ports
>non-exclusive Zelda
>another Mario rehash

Funny how PS4 have one game more than Shitch does.

Yeah I'd be really ashamed if I was you.
>owning a tablet

>Shitch
You're gonna have to work on this Sup Forums, it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

I just want to play new Zelda in better framerate, the idea of portabilty sounds really cool to me too.

The difference
>PS4 has remasters and ports of games that were available to 80M people

>Switch has (?) remasters and ports if games that were available to 13M people

So yeah, it's okay HOW Nintendo does it.

Personally, I think it's okay when either Sony or Nintendo do it. If you don't see the value, don't buy them. Enough with the tribalism.

I feel the same. I won't be buying a Switch to just replay my Wii U games again. I am fine if there are ports, but there better be a LOT of new first party games. Like a new 3D Mario, Pikmin 4, and that rabbids rpg.

I saw this regarding the new Mario game coming out.

keklel.org/news/new-super-mario-switch-details-leaked/

I thought it was legit until I saw the other articles...but I don't know for sure.

>Cheese is a theme
That can't be realistic...right?

>but when we look at the lineup...
>lineup hasn't even been fully announced yet

Stopped reading there

>Nintendo makes almost nothing for 2015 or 2016
>Has all this extra time and resources to ensure Switch has a solid launch lineup
>Still can't release anything on time and has to pad it with ports from their last shitty console

How the fucking mighty have fallen.

satire

How much cheese is too much cheese?

>this thread

Were Nintendo fans always this bad?

Fuck Mario and Zelda, I want to play GTA V and Pokémon on the same console
GOD
DAMN
IT

>backwards compatibility

Not going to happen, the only reason the other consoles were backwards compatible was because the Game Cube/Wii/Wii U used the IBM's PowerPC.

The Swictch uses an Nvidia ARM CPU and GPU, there is no native compatibility anymore, the only "backwards compatibility" you're going to have is the Game Cube and maybe Wii emulated digital re-releases.

They did say it'd be a PORTable experience

When's the presentation?

I think that's DQ11

its only okay when sony does it!

In about 32 hours.

5 HOURS

I wonder if AGDQ donations fall off because nobody is watching it during the switch presentation.

its only okay when nintendo does it!

People haven't played most of those games because they are for the wii u

That's fine with me. I didn't buy a wiiu because I'm not a retard.

I think you slept a day long user.

>When I look at the lineup so far

You mean the lineup we know absolutely nothing about? Why don't you wait for tomorrow so you can shitpost about things we actually can confirm?

It's not a port if it's releasing the same day or before

It's just a "version"

its wonderful because only a small amount of people played them, and I'm not one of them.

I lose long tracts of time frequently. Thanks for setting me straight.

Wii U ports are effectively brand new games to a vast majority of people, it would be smart to port over every single decent title the system ever had.

Considering BOTW a port is silly

If it's not released it's not a port

>Skyrim port
Please stop posting this when it was debunked literally the day of the trailer.
Nintendo literally just superimposed skyrim gameplay on the switch. It is not planned for the switch and its definitely not on their at launch

The PS4 couldn't even play Blu-ray movies until months after it launched

can you at least wait for friday

>BOTW port

Did it already come out for Wii U? And how do we know other games aren't going to come out on launch? Did Nintendo confirm this?

Also this

Real Talk

Assuming Nintendo's advertisement and the "report" that Zelda is indeed a launch game for everyone that isn't Europe

Where does that leave the 3D Mario?

Is it going to release later or is Nintendo planning to have both?

Financially that's not a good decision(See EA releasing Battlefield and Titanfall 2 in the same Week), but it will make a fantastic first impression for buyers

You could argue they did it before with 3D World and Link between Worlds, but that was 2 games on seperate devices the Wii U and 3DS, whereas this situation is on the same console

Except Todd Howard basically confirmed it exists in an interview a few months back, even if Bethesda itself is being very hush hush about it.

>Can you really bring Skyrim with you on the go?
>It's the same game on the TV and on the other screen.

glixel.com/interviews/skyrim-creator-todd-howard-talks-switch-vr-and-elder-scrolls-wait-w451761

>Sonic 2017
>Dragon Quest
>Mario
>Possible Dark Souls collection

I don't know what you had hoped for user, or what you typically hope for in a launch, but this is honestly not bad at all. If I had to guess, I would say you need to tone down your expectations for launch windows.

Is there anything that suggests MK will be a port of 8 and not a brand new game?

Yeah let's put a CD into the Switch

Where does it say the switch is getting a port?

I know, I had hoped to make this thread so we could all just shit on Nintendo, but it seems things are going in the opposite direction. I think I better delete it and make a new one, maybe we'll get lucky user.

They definitely have a NSMB for launch, they're just making it a big surprise because the normies don't know any better.

Expecting Switch not to fail, is like expecting Trump to be a good president.

You can tell them all the facts but they will still disagree with you because of console loyalty induced cognitive dissonance.

How else could you possibly interpret that sentence? That they are releasing a Wii U port?

how long until the direct?

It's 11 PM EST tomorrow.

What is the best console for someone who only plays video games rated E for Everyone by the ESRB?

that's a pretty good point user, you got a bunch of people assuming both are gonna fail and both are bad because of a bunch of speculation and rumors instead of waiting to find out.

...

The only thing i'm excited is that this console may get all those cool games only Nintendo portables got in the past, for one this may get an actual solid lineup of rpgs, unlike the Wii or Wii U, but this is considered a hybrid, so the comparison may be unfair.

Really amazon
