Fuck you I liked it: The Game. #FE gets a lot of shit for not being what people were expecting from the crossover, and for the harsh censorship (which you can bypass in literally less than thirty minutes by hacking your Wii U and getting the uncensored version). But people never look at the actual gameplay which is amazing. Fun cast of characters, great battle system and great dungeons to crawl through.
I have to wonder though, if it would've sold better in the West if it wasn't solely focused on the idol industry. This is very, very foreign to most Westerners. That said, this is a solid game and I'm hopeful, and actually expecting, a sequel.
I actually got this recently and I enjoy it. When does that dickbag Yashiro stop being a complete dickbag though? I heard he joins your party later on but he's a complete dick
Juan Howard
Honestly, it gets more flak to being a game no one wished for. Both FEfags and Personafags wanted things very different from TMS.
Jeremiah Ross
why does tsubasa suck so much
>blandest character trait-wise >kiria is better at magic >touma is better at physical spears >itsuki is better all-rounder >ellie and mamori have unique attack types >dedicated healing feels pointless because of how cheap healing items are
i want to permabench her but now i have to fucking grind up her stage rank so she can at least get open audition and at least contribute from the bench, all while she has more carnages than everyone else
Connor Foster
For me it was more an case of "was expecting shit and got a decent meal". My hopes were really low and the game impressed me. But after finishing I realized it was just the characters and Persona gameplay that I liked.
Bought it, enjoyed it, there are clear flaws but not enough for me to make a hundred threads about how much i hate shit i never played
Jordan Diaz
Same here. My expectations were ridiculously low, but I love the game a lot. I was expecting a turn-based strategy with demons involved. What I got was a Persona game with mild Fire Emblem influences. It's a great game to play while waiting for P5.
Jaxon Miller
The gameplay is a slightly improved copy of SMT Strange Journey's combat system with battle animations and loading screens that are way too long There are 2 characters in the game that aren't just bland or awful and one of them is not a party member because Japs don't want to play as a fat smelly weeb Plot is complete trash Graphically it's slightly above acceptable Dungeons are pretty decent, nothing to complain about there Overall it's not a very good game
Grayson Lopez
I just got Tsubasa to Open Audition and I benched her. When will the other characters get Open Audition? I hate how I have to switch out characters all the time just to keep them up to speed. I like using them all, but I'm only allowed three, one of which is the MC who's locked. I'm in the Third Dungeon by the way, the Japanese-y one.
Joseph Powell
I don't like how everyone calls Barry fat. He's built as fuck mang. Japan's got a really weird position on body image.
Bentley Turner
Look, the game wasn't complete shit due to its theme, although it did allianate a lot of people because of it -HOWEVER- it's not a great game either. Pretty standard middle-of-the-road affair. Your counter-culture "fuck youu breeeh, t'was cool" attitude, which I've seen many times associated with other fans of this game, is quite cringy and not warranted.
It's an ok game, not memorable, something to kill time and move on to better things, except it was the second and last Jrpg of the system, and thus no "better thing" came after.
Still, it's better to be honest than pretend that it had >Fun cast of characters when at least half of them were very barebones. The combat once again is OK, completely standard, it's definitely not amazing unless this was your first turn based Jrpg. The mandatory drawn-out combat animations are pretty irritating after the first handful of times.
>and great dungeons to crawl through. Once again, compared to what? The dungeon design is better than Persona3/4, but that's not saying much. It has very common dungeon designs (not visually, I'm talking about the structure/puzzles themselves) nothing beyond other games of its genre.
And it's not a complex game at all. Everything outside the main quest/dungeons is very barebones, at least P3/4 make up for their boring dungeons with social links and misc. activities. In #FE you just... do the one thing. There's no SMT-style management either, or deep party building and actual difficult dungeon crawling like Etrian Odyssey.
Just.. a very very typical Jrpg.
If this was a PS1 or PS2 game it would've been forgotten between the plethora of other better Jrpgs.
Ayden Hall
Do not bully Yashiro, he is an autist.
Oliver Sullivan
They get open audition at certain stage ranks, I think Touma gets his at the same rank as Tsubasa, Kiria at stage 9, Ellie at 6, dunno about Mamori yet since I just got yet but probably either the same as ellie or one lower
Juan Moore
i liked it too but removing bikinis from the bikini dungeon is just way too dumb and makes the plot have no sense
Sebastian Ward
>Barry >not awful He's just an annoying pedo.
Isaiah Peterson
Now with the Wii U Emulator I can play this uncensored. Glad I didn't brick my Wii U just for this
Dominic Evans
>Glad I didn't brick my Wii U just for this
How technologically impaired do you have to be to fuck up Wii U piracy at this point, you don't even need to tinker with firmware nonsense. Download game, throw it on a USB stick, visit a website, and install.
Carter Thomas
Nah, I'm good, I just want to play uncensored jap games
Liam Diaz
It's a good JRPG on a system starved of the genre. It took what P3/P4 had and made it much better, improving dungeon designs and the battle system, while keeping waifu-bullshit to a minimum, while still making you able to get to know your party members better throughout the game. It's a solid game.
I agree though, that if it came out during the JRPG rush of the PS1/PS2 era, it would've been forgotten. But in the times we live in, JRPGs are scarce and only a few good ones come out every year, and this is definitely one of the good ones.
Gavin Sanders
Seriously. Did it last week, cost me less than half an hour. Download some files and put them on your SD Card, then visit a website. Done. Then download the uncensored patch for #FE and you're golden.
Henry Gutierrez
Being able to fix the censorship doesn't mean it never happened. I still cannot condone what Nintendo did to this game, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it had I bought it.
Jacob Hall
Tsubasa should have been the main character and Itsuki shouldn't have been in the story.
Jason Lewis
It's win-win. You get to play the game as it was meant to be played, and you don't give any money which would support the censorship. Just hack your Wii U man, it's a good game.
Isaac Harris
>make a waifu game >no romance options Dumbest decision ever.
Liam Roberts
I fuggin loved it but if there's a sequel then there's a ton of stuff they could fix
>either no locked MC or an MC that can switch between a few different Fire Emblem fags >more side stories for each character >way to view accepted side quest objectives without having to go back to the person who asked you to do shit for them, it gets messy when you have several going on at once >no fucking forced three playthroughs for the cheevos, one normal play and one Lunatic NG+ play oughta be enough >less of a focus on ditzy girly shit, my ideal would be the next one is about 'murica with shitty b-movie actors >more of a focus on the shady underbelly of show biz >better villain than "lol it'd be a great show to watch the world be destroyed even though i'm gonna kill myself before seeing it"
Also if the FE iPhone game ends up being a retarded gatchapon machine type game with all the different characters from accros the series then it has to have the crew from this game just to piss off hardcore emblemfags
Grayson Carter
I'm very glad the game flopped.
Brody Scott
Oh and the censorship bullshit is so incredibly retarded, I guarantee you the "director's vision" of the game isn't as importantly held as you all believe and any director would be willing to make the small few changes to deal with the ratings system
I seriously hope that they mega censor the next one so that you faggots are forced to kill yourselves
Matthew Martinez
I liked it too, one of my favorite Wii U games to date
Sebastian Sanchez
That's because its a good game. But a terrible FE game.
Along with Fates and Awakening, this represents how FE has fallen into shit.
