You have way too much control over your kart to the point where turning is trivial, tracks are wide as fuck, the rubber banding item roulette is fucking garbage, customizable karts make it so character selection doesn't matter which is why there are a million characters in the game since they don't need to be balanced, the single player is the worst of any racing game that isn't Mario Kart, the game is shit. There is little skill to be had.

Want to know a neat trick? The resolution and framerate of Nintendo home console games is always equal to that of the maximum quality on their official trailers on youtube. Xenoblade 2 is 720p for example whilst the MK8 trailer is 1080p@60fps.

The console has a screen of 720p. That means when playing in portable mode the game is 720p. However, the Switch is more powerful than a WiiU, so when docked it'll easily output true 1080p. Mariokart 8 on WiiU was 720p 60fps, Mariokart 8 Deluxe on Switch is the same in portable mode but 1080p 60fps in TV mode, as the official website tells us it's 1080p.

Me too, thank god it isn't. The portable version is 720p like the WiiU version was, meaning the PORTABLE VERSION is better than the WiiU version (all the DLC is included, plus all the new content). The TV version is FAR superior, with all the new content but also 1080p instead of 720p.

I can't fucking wait, I can only hope they do the same for Smash and have Smash 4 Deluxe with all the stages of 3DS and WiiU Smash, all the DLC, and a Inkling character and stage.

If you enjoy the game enough to play it online for 6 full years minimum (the requirement for 300 online cost since the first 6 months or so is free online), Nintendo deserves whatever money you give them.

Actually the console comes with 2 controllers capable of playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, since the website confirms a single half can play the game (either with standard controls or motion controls).

Don't worry, Nintendo didn't reveal a price. Do you know what that means? They're waiting to see how people react, and the reaction to paid online has been horrible. Either they'll say "Oh, it's $2 a month or something like that, don't freak out guys here's some free games" or they'll say "Select games are free to play online forever, including Splatoon 2, MK8D, SSB4D, and Tetris Puyo!"

Note that Nintendo is VERY good at making gestures that soften bad news. They dropped the 3DS price $80, and they knew that would make early adopters mad... so they gave them 20 amazing old games for 100% free, and a little digital certificate thanking them for their support. That's a really suave move.

I don't think we NEED a MK9 though, honestly. Like, Mario Kart games generally recycle content and change content, instead of adding it. Like, Mario Kart 8 features 32 tracks in all, 16 new and 16 returning. That's the exact fucking same amount of tracks that they ALL have. Since MK8D comes with all DLC free, that means it's the first one to actually fucking start with more tracks than the standard 32. Even if they don't add ANY new tracks, it's 16 additional ones for 48 total, right? That's a big upgrade.

The characters still look ugly, unfortunately. I was hoping they would re-do the models so they look as good as they do in the official art.

The trailer literally showed that this is not the case. You just press X to bring up the map. It's a bit more bothersome, but with such a powerful weapon, I think it's fine to leave you vulnerable for a little longer.

Incorrect. The system downscales shit for the portable mode (like how a laptop capable of 1080p can totally let you set it to 720p without it bricking itself, and the display still works), it does not need to upscale to 1080p because it's stronger than a WiiU and can render 1080p normally.

You DO realize that you aren't forced to buy DLC? If you're happy with the content the game provides, buy it, if you aren't happy, don't buy it. DLC is irrelevant in that sense.
