I'm rather new to Pokemon. I've played Pokemon Moon and I really enjoyed it.

Which is a better experience and a better game, I don't care about chronology or graphics, just which is an altogether a better game.

Pokemon Blue or Pokemon Sapphire. I narrowed it down to those two, instead of giving you guys a list of every other pokemon game ever made.

Emerald and Yellow, then platinum

Disregard Sapphire and play Emerald.

There is absolutely no reason to play Sapphire as Emerald improves on it in every way and is a much more complete experience, probably the most complete in the franchise.

What about the original Blue? Red doesn't interest me. I like that yellow is somewhat colorized but I don't like that you only have the option of pikachu. I'd rather have a squirtle.

You get all of the starters in Yellow

You should usually never consider playing one of the first two games in a set that got a third one, unless you want to eventually play ALL the games and would rather save the better ones for later.

Exception could be made for Red/Blue since Yellow is kind of an odd case.

I'd play Red/Blue, Crystal(or HeartGold/SoulSilver) and Emerald. Starting with either R/B or Emerald.

I thought you lost all options and only got pikachu...

where the fuck have you been since '99

play crystal, platinum, fire red or leaf green, emerald, black/white and black/white 2. disregard the rest

Nope

If you play Blue on an emulator, you get as many colours as Yellow. The colours were actually in the coding, they just don't work on an actual gameboy(or Virtual Console for some reason).

I'd probably go with Emerald over Blue unless you're going to play both anyway. In which case why not start with the original.

Just play the remakes of Red and Blue, Fire Red and Leaf Green.

Then move on to HeartGold and SoulSilver, remakes of Gold and Silver. Since RB connects a lot to GS story wise.

But my personal favorite Pokemon game is Emerald.

user you forgot to factor in X or Y in your consideration. I would say they need to make your list.

You get them all. The Squirtle you get is this motherfucker.

He's being petulant. You do only get Pikachu, and the game is based on the anime overall. You can get the others starters later, is all.

IMO, Red/Blue is still the better choice for the more memorable sprites.

>petulant
Bullshit

Which has the best exclusives throughout the game?

Do you even know what petulant means?

>Red doesn't interest me
There's almost no difference expect for a couple of exclusive Pokemon, which you probably don't even care about since you're new to the series.

Single player wise all Pokemon games are the same shit. You lose nothing by just playing the most recent one. in fact if you already played Moon all the little quality of life changes missing from the old ones will piss you off.

Emerald, HG/SS, Platinum, B/W+B2/W2 are the other games definitely worth playing, with either loads of content, challenging postgames, or semi-decent stories

Below them you have Firered/Leafgreen, Alpha/Omega RS, and X/Y

Vanilla D/P and R/S are skippable

R/B/Y/G/S/C are decent but use completely different mechanics and can be kind of frustrating thanks to things like >>>wrap and other random bullshit interactions (G/S/C don't have this problem so much but the remakes are just exponentially better)

Play pokemon emerald instead of sapphire.
Play either leaf green or fire red instead of blue
Soul Silver/Heart Gold are good too.

You have to start with pikachu but can get all of the starters relatively early on.

Why do they sell Ruby and Sapphire for the 3DS but not the Emerald?

Don't buy the 8-bit fucking originals, the 8-bit music will want to make you drive your head through your skull. Here's a sample.. it's bad.

youtube.com/watch?v=hLcJois9yTs

You're better off playing Fire Red or Leaf Green instead of Blue. And Emerald is objectively better than Sapphire. Don't bother with Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire, they're trash.

Why does no one ever mention Pokemon X or Y?

Childlike

There's a huge fucking difference, Red is the representation of Red aka Ash Ketchum and Blue is the representation of Blue Aka Gary Oak.

In every and all circumstances Gary Oak is preferable to Ash.

Fuck off Gary.

>red=ash

>Pokemon red/blue/yellow
Ok for a playthrough, but really dated mechanics and lots of QoL changes are missing. Some really stupid sleep and wrap mechanics.
>Pokemon gold/silver/crystal
Same as above but not as bad.
>Pokemon sapphire/ruby/emerald
Sapphire and ruby are kind of whatever, but emerald is a really good game, even if the lategame is ruined by Rayquaza.
>Pokemon fire red/leaf green
Better red/blue with a lot of the dated mechanics gone.
>Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
Diamond and Pearl are hot garbage, but platnium really fixes their problems and is one of the harder pokemon games.
>Pokemon heart gold/soul silver
Better gold/silver with a lot of the dated mechanics gone, has really long load times if you use a cart, and problems with emulation
>Pokemon black/white
Very good games, they tried to start the series over so there are no old pokemon until post game and it worked well.
>Pokemon black2/white2
Direct sequels to the above games, in my opinion the best games, very good although the early game is a bit slow
>Pokemon X/Y
very mediocre
>Pokemon omega ruby/alpha sapphire
better ruby/sapphire but somehow not, incredibly mediocre and no post game
>Pokemon sun/moon
Better than X/Y but still whatever, tried to do something completely different and some of it worked but other parts didn't

t. pokemon expert 1900 gen6 ou elo

Red is Ash and Blue is Gary.

this

>crystal over HGSS

Who honestly would believe Ash is better than Gary? Ash is a cry baby.

QoL? And whatever that means does that apply to the 3DS download versions?

Whats wrong with the music? It sounds fine.

why would you want to play red or green when they're in Japanese? You can't read any of the shit going on.

While I can give you Garyand Blue because of how similar they are, Red and Ash are completely different in every aspect apart from the fact that they know similar people: Blue/Gary, Oak, Bill etc.

Maybe you're too young to have appreciated them, they're pretty beautiful youtube.com/watch?v=4lrkpB9dXnk

XY is heavily underrated.

Which would you say is better Blue or Yellow as far as games go?

Which is better ruby/sapphire or sun/moon?

What are the two best and which are the two worst pokemon games ever?

Random pic you got there.

You mean that boo boo boop bu buh doo doo doola doop boo boo boop duhla doo doop?

Top 3 Mainline Pokemon Games:
1. Emerald
2. Crystal
3. Blue

>petulant child
>childlike child

I would kill for Pokemon Stars to come out by the end of this year for the Switch.

Quality of life.
The menuing in gen1/2 is awful and some of the mechanics and the way you do some things are counter intuitive.
sun/moon > ruby/sapphire

diamond/pearl are the worst
black2/white2 are the best

What the hell was that?

You say Blue is better than yellow? Noooo.

user said
>He's being petulant.
He never said petulant child.

Something I would really loves to see, but will probably never happen ever, is to see Gary Oak and Zamasu in the same universe and to do a fusion together and become Zamary.

DragonBall Fusions is GOAT!

Similar question to OP's but I've played Pokemon Blue and Yello and Sun and Moon. What is the best game to get on my 3Ds, (yellow, red, blue, ruby, sapphire, x, and y are all available), if I want to vastly expand to pokedex in sun and moon, meaning I want to transfer more pokemon that you can't get in the latest games to the latest games via the pokemon bank.

I took a break from pokemon for over a decade, so I don't know the gap between yellow and Sun/Moon.

Is missing no in the original yellow, I know it was in red/blue. And anyone know if it is in the 3DS Red or Blue or if they bothered to fix it?

BW and BW2 are best games user

Why do I almost never hear of BW ever mentioned?

I have it there for nostalgia and for starting it all. I prefer the original sprites and art from Red/Blue. The best Kanto region games were the GBA remakes though.

What's wrong with the yellow sprites?

if you've played blue and yellow theres no reason to play any gen 1 games again.
>ruby,sapphire
do you mean omegaruby and alphasapphire? either one is ok. you could honestly skip x/y if you wanted to but it's a really easy game. you could beat it in a weekend. i'd go y then omega.
play emerald, then heartgold/soulsilver, platinum, BW2.
then you're basically good as far as pokemon games go.

>playing gen 1
Just play firered/leafgreen.

And either way on red or blue you play as red, so it don't matter. If your STILL dead set on playing the orginal gen 1 games for any reason other than abusing the remakes to get gen 1 moveset exclusive pokemon for competitive, then play yellow, as its the only game where you can get all 3 starters.

the original red/blue/yellow lose out on a lot of quality of life features, bug fixes, and general polish later games have.

Firered and leafgreen are gen 3 remakes of the original red/blue, but Gen 4 is what really introduced a lot of the good features the earlier games lacked.

As far as Sapphire, you should really only be playing Emerald or Alphasapphire. Emerald is the ehanced version of both ruby and saphhire, but it's still in gen 3, wheras Alpha sapphire is the gen 6 remake. Emerald has more post-game content then Alphasapphire, but Alpasapphire has more polish, better graphics, and more quality of life features.

Platnium, Heartgold/Soulsilver, Emerald, and Blackwhite2 are generally considered to be the best pokemon games

Skip gen 1 and gen 6. Gen 2 probably also because while it doesn't suffer the problems of gen 1, the gen 4 remakes are so much higher quality.

Between XY and Omegaruby/Alphasapphire you can get every pokemon that's been in the series prior to SM, event exclusives aside.

i always liked red/blue more than yellow. they somehow seem more authentic as far as a pokemon game goes you can't get much more pure than red/blue.
its kind of a lame excuse though. it's more just personal preference. yellow seems like more of a dlc to me.

Or you could just just ask someone on /vp/ for whatever you want.

If you're going to play a Gen III game, is HAS to be Emerald.

This is non-negotiable. Don't fucking bother with Ruby or Sapphire.

Play Heart Gold/Soul Silver, Platinum, and Black 2/White 2.

And Gary is someone that prided himself in being the best trainer then lost to that crybaby and stopped being a trainer to focus on following his grandpa's path.

Except Red is Red and Blue is Blue.

Ash and Gary are anime characters, they aren't in the game you fag.
