It's gonna flop harder than the Wii U, isn't it?
It's gonna flop harder than the Wii U, isn't it?
Wii U launch
>Huge momentum from their most successful generation that had the DS (Most successful Nintendo handheld) and the Wii (Most successful Nintendo console)
>Backwards compatibility
Switch launch
>No momentum from their WORST generation that had the Wii U (Worst selling Nintendo console) and 3DS (Worst selling Nintendo handheld)
>Paid Online
>Overpriced
>1 decent launch title that's on the Wii U
Where's the fucking Pokemon main title that everyone was saying would "guarantee the Switch to be a success!"?
Doesn't seem as bad as Wii U really.
The extra waggle stuff wasn't necessary though.
You say that, but motion controls are still going strong in this age of VR. Continuing to include them doesn't seem like a bad idea at all.
Yes. It looks really bad in every possible way.
>Nintendo Switch
$300
>Standard ("Pro") controller
$80
>Online
$60 (doesn't even have new games just ROM's on a lease)
>A game
$60
...
$500
...
No thanks
It doesn't have ONE SINGLE fucking exclusive game at launch - nintendo are insane What the FUCK were they thinking??
It took 2 years for pokemon to come out on the 3ds it will probably be the same case here if it doesnt get a sun and moon port.
Currently? It seems like a real possibility which is insane.
It's really bad, there's just nothing to play at launch that will last more than 10 hours, and they want $300 at launch for nothing when I can probably pay $200 from some idiot on craigslist who didn't realize how bad it is a month in.
Zelda games take like 8 to beat TOPS
I'm pretty sure most casuals don't want a dedicated gaming tablet.
>300 $
Console
>I dont need a Pro controller
>First 6 months are free online
>a game
So it costs 350 wow
amazing
The Wii U failed partially because of how bad a job they did marketing it.
So far, the Switch seems to have done a much, much better job of that. That mythical Wii casual audience is forever lost unless you can find a gimmick as good as motion control in 2007, so nobody should expect that.
The real important thing is that they can keep a supply of good games coming towards it. If they can't give us good, actually fun games to play online then the paid service will bomb hard and it will become another weeaboo gaming device.
why would pokemon have a main title on a console
>First 6 months are free online
Wow what a steal!
did you even watch the presentation?
>Zelda games take like 8 to beat TOPS
>I dont need a Pro controller
If you don't want to hold that retarded dog, you do
>first 6 months are free
Top goy
Because splitting your games between handheld and console is extremely obnoxious. Since this is the meme system with the ability to turn into a tablet with joysticks, people think that it will replace the handheld devices to some degree.
I'm surprised the amount of butthurt the paid online caused on the nintendrones, so maybe
>350 dollars for a single game
>t-the only is free! for the first 6 months
Gladium make yourself a favor and drink bleach
I genuinely think it has a chance to be as bad as the Wii U which is terrible. Not a single one of my friends thought the presentation was good or has any plans to by a Switch
How many games is it launching with?
Arms is literally an android game.
>So far, the Switch seems to have done a much, much better job of that.
This is just a fucking lie and a desperate meme used to justify the Switchs laughable marketing
>I don't even know what the fuck the Switch is (A console? A handheld?)
>PAID ONLINE
>$300 BUCKS
>ONLY LAUNCH GAME IS A WII U PORT
There is NO evidence of them doing a "better job" in marketing in fact, the exact OPPOSITE is true
well you and all your friends are cucks it seems
Pic related
>300 instead of 250 when I can get a PS4 for 260 right now which already has an established library
>Paid fucking online
>Joy Cons are 80 together and 50 a piece. Pro Controller is fucking 70 bucks
>Paid fucking online
>Absymal Launch Line up
>every game worth getting (SMT V, FE Warriors Xenoblade 2) are all a ways off and are barely in the beginning of development
>Paid fucking online
>Console is being advertised as a handheld yet only last 3 hours
>32 GB internal storage
>No voice chat at launch
>Paid fucking online
Not even false flagging im probably one of the biggest Nintendo fans ever and love my 3DS but it feels like they learned nothing from the Wii U. This console was originally coming out late 2016 but they literally said they delayed it so it could have a better lineup? Are they trying to tell me this list was fucking smaller?
- 1, 2 Switch
- The Legend of Zelda: BotW
- Just Dance 2017
- Has Been Heroes
- Snipperclips
- Super Bomberman R
- Disgaea 5 Complete
- Puyo Puyo Tetris
- Rayman Legends
- Steep
- Skylanders: Imaginators
- I Am Setsuna
RIP Switch
I would have preferred if this did replace 3DS because personally I'm fucking tired of having to buy a shitty handheld just to play some of the few good games it has. This was a great compromise but they literally fucked that opportunity up completely with this atrocious launch price, arrogant accessory prices, no fucking games, and the only even remotely enjoyable ones (bar zelda) won't be out for almost a year.
People thought the Wii U was a fucking add-on for the Wii.
They are definitely doing a better job marketing it this time around. Wii U marketing was absolutely atrocious.
>they perfectly explain what the Switch is within minutes of its hardware trailer
>none of the other 3 points have anything to do with marketing
>only zelda
you shitting me right? not even that new mario at launch?
Idk about u all but wiiu seemed pretty good when they showed it off. I liked the idea of playing a game and being able to look down on game pad to see the map or view inventory. Problem is that it had lack of games so it never really got implemented much
>First 6 months are free
Yes and no.
The first 6 months are free from the time the console releases, when there is literally not a single multiplayer game. If you dont buy it at launch, which seems the reasonable thing to do, you also dont get free online.
Mario is Holiday 2017
What's amazing to me but not surprising at all is that the nintendo autists here are still slurping getting raped
Never seen a more retarded fanbase
They could sell actual human shit in a box and the great majority of you will defend it and go on about how much FUUUUUN it is
I don't understand how anyone could get excited about the same games generation after generation. Mario and Zelda. wow so innovative. What consumers really want are more waggle controls. When are they going to announce their also-ran VR headset? Consoles are a fucking joke. Video games are shit.
>Thinking momentum actually means something
Be honest, would you care if Nintendo died as a company?
It's gonna cost nearly $400 with tax for the system and one game, not even accounting for the cost of online, a second controller, or expanding the storage.
Yeah, it's gonna have a hard time.
So Zelda and Bomberman
got it.
That's all of the fanbases here, because Sup Forums is home to the worst examples of all of them.
I want them to die as a hardware company, and to go the way of Sega. Nintendo hasn't done well on their hardware since the Gamecube
>only game is a fucking Wii U port
>32 GB internal storage
I refuse to believe.
>MORE WAGGLE
>6 HOURS, 3 IF YOU RUN A REAL GAME
>$300
>PAID ONLINE FOR THEIR NO GAMES AND NOTORIOUSLY BAD ONLINE SERVICE
There's almost no way it doesn't do worse than the Wii U
it's a tablet
what's not to believe
I want them to stop making hardware.
They get too caught up in their gimmicky hardware and trying to justify it and it hurts their games.
How is that different from any other console?
Yeah.
I know it'd make you happy because you're a literal cuck.
Pretty much this. If Nintendo weren't such fucking coward that they couldn't just accept a loss for a few months in order to steal the market this thing could have done well. But no. All these extra fees and excessive prices and no fucking memory, just because it has handheld mode? No, If the Wii U was produced at $120 per unit AT launch, this tiny little thing can't even be close to needing to be $300. Nintendo has been arrogant ever since the original 3DS tried to charge $250. News flash, Nintendo. You don't run the show anymore. People aren't going to pay en mass for this kind of garbage pricing. It's like watching the release of the Vita all over again.
It's true, confirmed by nintendo's own site.
Zelda gets "about 3 hours" according to their site.
That's likely under optimal conditions, too.
Yep.
But I'm still going to buy it.
Still no idea why there's going to be paid online. Who knows, maybe if there's enough of an outcry, Nintendo will shelve that idea.
But Nintendo isn't MS. They don't listen to complaints...
thats a pretty fucking sad lineup , lol.
and all those little faggots who were shitposting vita getting hyped for switch LOL
A powerful handheld for 300 is fine. How poor are you?
>1 console left
>People who have a 3Ds and people ho own a Wii U have one successor
Maybe Japan will buy it when MH5 is out but yeah, it will sell way less than even the Xbone.
Sega making software for other hardware was the worst mistake they've made. Should have just sold all their IPs instead of ruining Sonic and ignoring their other franchises forever.
How much of nintendos dick do you need to have in you to think that presentation was good? Anyone know?
>list a problem
>Dude it's a tablet
>list a problem
>Dude it's a tablet
>list a problem
>Dude it's a tablet
>Why do you complain it's a tablet? You can connect it to a tv!
I mean, the cartridges will hold any save storage, but yes, it's fucking bullshit. I don't like DLC any more than anyone else, but we fucking know they will have it... and they can't even control it from outside publishers so why even fucking bother?
This shit will just limit devs trying to come to the device. I want DLC to die just as much as everyone, but they aren't going to stop it by having horribly limited storage space...
the other consoles have been out for some time now with established game libraries and online communities
>powerful handheld
my phone has more power than this handheld/hybrid and lasts 10 hours of constant use
3ds is the worst selling handheld? really?
....i like it..
and im waiting for the new yoshi game.
Because the other consoles are cheaper, often come bundled with a game, and are more powerful/have more features.
You try selling a mother of 2 a switch this holiday when it'll be
$300 for the system
$60 for a game
$x whatever for online
and potentially a $70 extra controller.
vs a
$200 ps4 bundled with at least 1 game
$35-55 extra controller
>$45-50 playstation plus.
You could get the ps4 setup with several games for the cost of the switch setup with 1.
Lets keep this in perspective; the main launch title and main draw to the console is a fucking Wii U game.
>Huge momentum from their most successful generation that had the DS (Most successful Nintendo handheld) and the Wii (Most successful Nintendo console)
They floundered any momentum they had beforehand, I realize the Wii U is over 4 years old now but you have to remember that 2011-2012 was a massive drought for the Wii. They lost the attention of the massive casual market and the more hardcore crowd shifted back to 360/PS3/PC. The momentum they built up from 2006 (not just the Wii but the DS Lite which is when it really exploded) to 2010 was gone. Microsoft had a similar problem with the 360 to Xbone, only Sony was half-decent in this regard.
I just can't fathom the HD Rumble and other stuff packed into the Joycons. The instant that came up in the presentation I realized why this thing got $300. I don't think Nintendo can win a spec war at this point, which is why they need to win a price war, and it's the same fucking price as a PS4/Xbone now. All for sensitive rumble and depth tracking for a couple minigames. This is going to be Nintendo's last hardware.
>People who have a 3Ds
Children and the Japanese? They already moved to phones
>Wii U
Nobody owned a Wii U
$250 was the sweet spot for most.
Video games are a luxury, many people who can afford it will not purchase it out of principle that they feel the value isn't there.
So Nintendo blew that, but they weren't done yet. They proceeded to announce a fucking online subscription service necessary for multiplayer. Nintendo's online is not worth paying for, too few games use it and the infrastructure isn't there.
As if that wasn't enough, there's no pack in game, few launch games, none of them that Wii U owners couldn't play, expensive as fuck controllers, piss poor hardware, and battery life.
All around an extremely poor device that will struggle in a market that sees no value in it at its current price.
The competition is presently much cheaper for entry with much more to offer now and in the future. Much better values for consumers.
They need to shit out a Sun&Moon upscale and MonHun upscale
In marketing, yes.
Not everybody is as rational as you senpai.
>Zelda games take like 8 to beat TOPS
>portable I Am Setsuna after NA vita version got canceled
rude
I was neither complaining nor defending
it is what it is
a tablet that docks into a video-out cage
in a world where miracast is a thing
It's not just a powerful handheld, it's also a really weak console.
That's not fine for $300.
stop spreading this crap.
Sega went to shit before going third party. Their management was practically insane. That's why they had to go third party in the first place, years of poor choices.
Nintendo is fucking dead, this is depressing
it's like they learned nothing
It's pretty sad when almost every Nintendo fan on Sup Forums has turned on them, now. That's how we know they truly fucked up... I mean, damn.
PS4
>Knack
>killzone
Xbone
>
Wii U
>NSMB U
Switch
>Zelda BotW
Not a good launch but I'll take it over any other in last few years any day
I'm hoping it does like the 3ds and get a massive price cut soon after release but paid online is too shitty even at that so I wouldn't be buying one anyways.
I still don't want it to do good because that would mean even more of this anti-consumer crap.
>I mean, the cartridges will hold any save storage
Saves are rarely bigger than 1 megabyte
The issue is not being able to download games or install updates
You'll be forced to get physical and get jewed
The same reason any sequel sells. Because those same games were good enough that people would like to see new levels, a graphical update, fixes to old problems, and maybe a new gimmick without using a bunch of half baked, amateur, and buggy mods. People want a shinier expansion pack of a game they already like.
I don't think anyone bases if they're going to buy a console based on how much the last one sold
It'll get more people to buy a Wii U.
It's interesting how you're comparing a console that's releasing to consoles that have been out for a long ass time now.
Compare the Switch release prices to the PS4 or Bone and their wealth of games on release then complain.
I unironically think a system needing launch titles is a meme.
No console has had a good launch since the N64 but people keep putting such a big emphasis on it.
Normally I'd say the first year as a whole is more important but the PS4 had jack squat for the first year and like half of its second and people are now praising it as the savior of video games.
In the end it really depends on if developers latch onto your console and keep supplying stuff throughout the life. There's no way to predict whether that's going to happen but at the moment we at least know the big third parties are at least giving it a chance cause of Skyrim and FIFA. You also have smaller companies like ArcSys even making a Blazblue project for it.
That's also ignoring the fact that with the Vita dead and the 3DS outdated, developers only have the Switch to go to for handheld development. You can already see that with the standard enhanced Disgaea port for D5 coming to Switch since the Vita is too garbage to run it(remember, D4 had tons of constant slowdowns).
Just gotta wait and see how things play out.
>People thought the Wii U was a fucking add-on for the Wii.
Citation needed.
Fucking pricing and paid online has nothing to do with marketing?

>Nintenbabbies
>In charge of knowing why their consoles flop
All the more reason they should have just sold their IPs and went bankrupt.
PS4 is proof that it absolutely does
They capitalized on how people reacted at Microsoft's shitty practices they wanted to introduce back then, this alone made a lot of people jump ship from xbox to ps, and then it snowballed because people get the console that their friends have.
They went all apple and did fun videos on using the switch.
Yeah it is better than the hot trash that was the wiiU
I just don't understand how people thought it was Iwata. Iwata was a programmer at heart, not much of a business man. He wasn't great at his job, but all the lack of features was the shitty Nintendo shareholders. And it looks like without Iwata, it's even worse. Because there seems to have been ABSOLUTELY NO attempt to stop the corporate greed this time around. I'm not defending Iwata, either, but damn... this is a serious fuck up.
>32 GB internal storage
This kills the third party support. Most third party games have 10gb patches day one.
I'm comparing it to its competition, the same product it's going to sit right next to at best buy.
Consumers aren't going to be choosing between a launch price ps4 or xbone and the switch. They aren't going to go
>Man these are more powerful and way cheaper and come with a game, but I should ignore that because it's not fair
That's insane to expect that.
Also
>Long ass time now
3 years?
The real golden era (recently) was E3 2014. They had a good lineup while the Xbone and PS4 were very slowly getting out the gate, the Treehouse was a fun and fresh take on the usual stale conferences.
E3 2015 was when shit really got bad and never really recovered.
>Citation needed.
my boss's wife thought the WiiU was literally Wii Fit and never bought a single actual game for it
Just uses it for Wii Fit
the launch lineup is awful
Nintendo will never steal the console market.
Nobody cares about Nintenshit consoles. The WIi was a fluke that Soccer moms bought and that's it. They've been in a steady decline for ages
These console manufacturers have grown so arrogant that the whole market would have to crash and be replaced again, starting from scratch with smaller businesses if we have any hope of getting rid of all the anti-consumer bullshit that's built up over the years. And honestly I wish it would, because then it would be like Sega's mistake... No one makes it anymore because they saw what happened.
is there even a launch lineup?
what is going to be available at launch besides Zelda?
It looking to be barely more powerful than the wii u also doesn't bode well for third party multiplats.
That's not momentum, that's not being as shitty as the other one
It actually is their worst selling handheld since the original GB, it's still making money, mind you, but in terms of units sold it is the lowest one.
>Zelda games take like 8 to beat TOPS
