Just got done analyzing the trailer to see how many moves Mario has in this game, but the trailer may not have shown all of them. Beyond the basic movement options of running, jumping, and crouching, listed in order of appearance:

Double Jump
Trampoline Bounce
Horizontal Pole Grab & Dismount
Wall Jump
Ledge Grab
Ledge Traversal
Long Jump
Rolling Ball
-> Rolling Ball Jump
Jump -> Forward Dive
Sprinting (?)

-> Hat Jump

And this is just from the one trailer, Mario hasn't had a fuckhuge amount of moves like this since Sunshine. I don't know about you guys but I got a good feeling that this is going to be the 3D Mario game we've been waiting for.

I think it's more pronounced that he's pretty short, especially when compared to humans. But he's not squashed like damaged mario

I just think it's because this is the first time Mario's hair is actually rendered as strands rather than just a solid chunk like always.
I'm going to take a long shot and guess that Nintendo, in their infinite Japanese wisdom, thought that because Mario is going to be taking his hat off a lot in this game then they should spend the resources getting his hair rendered more realistically since the player will be looking at it much more than in previous titles.
