What did everyone think of the big announcement? I'm fucking hyped - I can't believe Sega's bringing Puyo Puyo Tetris to the West!

I have it on ps3 and pirated on 3ds and I still got excited. It and that bomberman game are gonna be really good pick up and play games.

This is a dream come true for me. Big Puyo fan, I had given up hope that this would be coming to the west, I never understood why they didn't just toss it on the E-shop for the WiiU. But the fact that they held out and are releasing it on the switch as an early title could be MASSIVE for the Puyo franchise.

I'm already seeing people say they will pick it up (obviously because the recognize Tetris) thinking this is the only title since Robotniks Mean Bean Machine.

I'll be a regular, as long as it doesn't end up being a circle jerk like MK8. Shit got so bad that people were leaving races if their "friends" weren't in the races.

Can you just play Puyo Puyo or Tetris standalone or is every game mode a mashup of both games?

I believe you can choose.

You can. There are the classic 120 lines (or endless) and time attack Tetris modes, as well as the standard 1v1 Puyo mode.
The game is worth it even if you play just solo Tetris, it's one of the best Tetris versions available.

It's a shame that more modern Sonic-ish art style stuck around, I liked her best back in Madou and the old Puyos

Most of the essentials are there, Tsu is the standard ruleset. Fever ruleset is conspicuously absent however, though probably because they couldn't mesh Tetris with it. It's TECHNICALLY still there as Big Bang which is like Fever nonstop, but that's a rather boring mode that you'll play once and stick to other more standard modes like the default VS or Swap Mode. I like Puyo Tetmix, but nobody else does.

how did they manage to get puyo puyo tetris published in the west?
i thought it was impossible
