>Japanese sounded good in the reveal
>see an english trailer today
>vomit
do you think they'll let me choose japanese? I've been reading in zelda my whole life, so it wouldn't make much of a difference. It just won't sound terrible
>Japanese sounded good in the reveal
>see an english trailer today
>vomit
do you think they'll let me choose japanese? I've been reading in zelda my whole life, so it wouldn't make much of a difference. It just won't sound terrible
Agreed. I'd rather have gibberish than actual voice acting, but I can't understand Japanese anyway so it's basically the same.
Don't be such a weeb
Don't be racist user, it's not like the voice actress is getting paid to act in a convincing manner and putting some emotion into it.
It's region free, never buy an english game ever again like real normal people will, user.
YAMETE LINK-KUUUUUUUUUUUN
don't be such shit acting enabler.
>>Japanese sounded good
Oh god, kill yourself you fucking weeb.
Saged and hidden.
>Japanese sounded good
>dat Zelda crying scene
>sounded good
I guess if you like animu over acting. No one fucking cries like that for real.
>watch the japanese version of the breath of the wild trailer
>zelda's cry is pretty much the same as america's version
lmao, the way you people were sperging out I thought it was going to be the most emotion I ever heard. It wasn't even worth me watching two videos, let alone bitching about dual audio or playing the game in japanese like y'all were talking about.
Conference presented the trailer in Eng subs + Jp voices
No way that was just for the presentation
And even then, region-free dumbfuck
did you see it though?
in the scene I screencapped, zelda is bawling her eyes out, screaming in pain
in the english dub she goes "boo...hoo...hooo"
i mean come on, at what point do we cross the line from "lost in translation" to "didn't put any effort into it"
yes they do.
11 posts in and no one links the video that they're talking about
>No one fucking cries like that for real.
That's the point you dickfag. It's a video game, it doesn't need realism. If it was realistic, characters would hardly ever show their emotions
I just hate how she sounds like some brown third-world person when she has a fair white complexion. It just doesn't match and it's jarring.
>thinking voice acting is good in a language you dont understand
fucking google it next time
Its not region locked so you can just pick up the jap version if you want.
this is in japanese you fucking idiot... hoooooooooooly shit, i wanted to see the english dub
Japanese one was better mostly because it fit the scene and was timed MUCH better. Short sound of a heart breaking in two, then she slams her head into his arms, thats just good direction.
The acting in the english version was honestly not that bad compared to how much worse it could be. Maybe somewhat underacted, but was probably trying to localize it where it didn't need, because high pitched voices are apparently bad to western ears.
I see all these people saying that no westerner cries like the JP actress, when that's false, I've fucking seen that shit man. Its just NOA not having a fucking clue again, though they at least seem to have hired good actresses.
IMO, if you're gonna dub a game, you can't just swap the voice files if you want to do it right, you need to rebuild each scene from the ground up and GET THE FUCKING TIMING RIGHT
Overacting in cartoons is intentional too, and its most interesting in anime and even western cartoons when the vocal directors tell the actors to shift from projecting their voice like its a theatrical play to more realistic acting, it can throw the audience on an emotional roller coaster.
See the Family fight scene in Bill Burr's F is for Family, alot of scenes in Evangelion, so on so forth.
but what if I cant read weeb
>Crying is different depending on what language you speak
English Trailer:
>eeh...eeh
Japanese Trailer:
AAAAAAGH EEEGH AAAAGHUGUU
I'm not even kidding, the Japanese crying sounded fake as shit. I genuinely liked the English trailer more.
The other languages were better by a huge margin anyway.
See I fucking hate British accents
>actual old woman
>a badass deep voice
>crying that sounds legit
>a young girl trying to sound old with a hilariously raspy voice
>that """"""""deep voice"""""""""""'
>a literal "boo hoo"
Not to samefag but this is what I'm talking about in regards to western animation.
You can clearly see the actors switch from theatrically reading their lines to speaking from the heart.
I get the distinct impression that this is a scene from Bill Burr's childhood.
>I'm not even kidding, the Japanese crying sounded fake as shit. I genuinely liked the English trailer more.
the problem is, it was animated to fit the japanese scene, which was wailing
Dude the crying was shit in both languages.
The English version under-acted while the Japanese version over-acted.
>zelda cries in japanese
>it sounds like someone actually crying out of desperation
>zelda cries in english
>a couple of mundane rehearsed sobs
I usually don't cry over dubs and very rarely play games in japanese even if I have the choice but the difference is so big
youtube.com
forgot link
I can see how you wouldn't know what pain is when the saddest thing that could happen in your life is that the internet goes out for half a day.
>forgot link
yeah, he did
>so big
It's like Sup Forums finally funposted so hard it ripped open a hole and I entered a new dimension where everyone was retarded when it came to crying women. Like, whew. How do you people react to things that actually matter? This is borderline SJW-triggering levels except way more petty and pedantic.
>I've failed my kingdom and hold myself and my lack of competence responsible for the deaths of hundreds *sniff* uh eh ehhhhhhhh
Jesus. English vidya VA is a fucking meme.
it's big as in the difference in tone between each version. the jap version gives a more memorable impression of the scene. english version is just forgettable
I've heard good english crying scenes and that was not one
It's not about being good, it's just that even bad Japanese voice acting sounds better than most English dubs. Not because "superior nippon actors" or anything but rather any incomprehensible babble is better than a bad dub.
First off buddy, I'm a guy.....haven't cried in years. And sure as hell never broke down like the shit in that trailer.
Still doesn't change the fact that was some shit tier voice acting. Pure anime tier crying that sounds fake as shit.
Almost all japanese dub is over exaggerated. Only autists from Sup Forums prefer that shit because it sounds just like their anime rape porn. The english dub is also horrible btw.
found the autist
>10 hours of YAMERO
Oi
>10 hours of underacting and even more proof American voice acting is garbage tier and should be handed over to the UK.
>any incomprehensible babble is better than a bad dub.
This
I'd rather read everything through subs than be forced to listen to C-grade English dub VAs
>japanese sounded good
how will you even know if you can't speak Japanese you dull cunt
Don't give me this bullshit about "but I can feel the emotion and tone of voice". All the japs can do is fucking scream and it gets boring real fucking quick.
The only people who should be playing the jap version are people who can speak Japanese.
Anime was truly a mistake.
>American voice acting is garbage tier and should be handed over to the UK
But the worst voice acting in the trailer was Zelda, who's VA is British
>English
how people actually cry
>Japanese
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
the mute button what is it lmao
>how will you even know if you can't speak Japanese you dull cunt
I didn't know you can cry in different languages.
is it going to have the option to play with english subtitles?
I donĀ“t speak Japanese
>defending Zelda and her *autistic screeching *
>thinking I'm the autistic one here
Ha.
>all these years scrublords have been decrying Zelda's lack of voice acting
>i much preferred the silence and occasional single syllable when characters speak
>now we get voice acting and it's exactly as i expected
fuck this. zelda was always nice because i didn't have to hear some shitty 4kids dub whenever anyone spoke. it also allowed it to maintain a certain style - the way characters did a small idle animation between speaking animations, and written dialogue can afford a certain flow and delivery that sounds uncanny or weird if it was said aloud. so chances are the dialogue itself will be more plain-jane and awkward than it has been in the past, by virtue of the fact that it needs to be written with voice-acting in mind.
Crying in what context? Did she just lose her unborn child? Or is she just tired of being shat on for too long?
1st one requires a scream. 2nd just requires a little break down blub.
Zelda's american VA sounds like a robot
Orphan did the sobbing better.
Well, no. The idea is: The person can understand their own language and can understand when something sounds half-assed in said language. With an entirely different language, it's effectively gibberish, so it's harder to tell if the voice acting is better. But, it's easier to swallow than poor voice acting in the person's native tongue because the tone of voice will generally sound vaguely accurate, which is more than can be said of the dubbed voice if it's poorly done.
I realy don't understand you dude. For a Rei poster you should know how good Megumi Hayashibara is in all her roles.
posts like these is why Trump won
Well clearly they need a British voice director to perform well.
>not being able to tell the difference regardless of language barriers
Your lack of common sense and ears must make your life a living hell, my friend.
>Everyone cries in the same ways in response to the same things
Is this autism?
Wii U version will get an undub patch probably.
I'm no fan of the English VAs we heard in the trailer, but I didn't actually mind that scene. Sure it looks like it's supposed to be played as Zelda finally cracking under pressure or something, and bawling your eyes out seems like it would be appropriate, but I also don't see anything wrong with a VA playing it as Zelda just feeling completely defeated, so a few quiet broken sobs could still work as well.
Plus obviously the scene is cut short so there could still be some louder sobs by the English VA in the few seconds afterwards.
>mfw I just want the Xenoblade cast to VA this Zelda
We really don't know the in-game context at this point, but the trailer gives the impression that she's breaking down because calamity ganon and the spider things wrecked everyone's shit and she blames it on herself. I'd say that it warrants more than a few sobs.
Top tier japanese VAs are literal celebrities. They appear on TV shows and sometimes even get a show for themselves.
Meanwhile the most an american VA can expect is some ugly nerds being obsessed with him on a con or some random kid recognizing his voice "from somewhere, he's not really sure".
That's why japanese give their all while americans only want their paycheck and don't give a fuck.
Nintendo can't even do dual audio for something like Smash, what makes you think they're gonna do it for this? Especially with casuals who've been begging for Zelda to have voice acting who will eat this shit up.
...
>people can only scream out loud when their mouth is open
REMEMBER WHEN THEY INTRODUCED METROID WITH VOICE ACTING?
DO YOU REMEMBER HOW THAT GAME TURNED OUT?
NINTENDO, STICK TO TEXT AND NIX THE VOICE ACTING! DON'T FUCK WITH THIS! JUST WORRY ABOUT GAMEPLAY LIKE YOU ALWAYS HAVE!
Remember when Zelda didn't need good voice acting and scripts because it was a game?
>i've never had anyone i cared about die
But fucking screaming out-loud to anything like that would just never happen in real life and is the sign of shit acting.
Best VA tbqh
There's a reason VAs are treated like stars there user. Stop pretending to be retarded.
I can't be the only one who just wants them to have a no-VA option altogether, right?
Yeah, we should return to the era of space shooters and barely any music and graphics.
Fuck off. "muh cinematic experience" is only bad when the gameplay is weak or is too intrusive
You know what else wouldn't happen in real life? Giant monsters of pure darkness, rock people, shark people, bird people, magic stone tablets, etc.
It's fantasy. It's good to go further than the limits of reality.
>anime rape porn.
You don't know wtf you're talking about do you?
Yes, one side is unrealistic to the point nobody talks or cries like that. The other is more realistic as people stop making noises when they're crying.
Have you just never heard someone cry at all or something?
never forget... Don't trust Aonuma San
Nope. Out if the >
7 billion people on this earth, you alone are the ONLY one that wants that. Those other people in this very thread asking for the same thing? Must have been posts by bots.
It has nothing to do with how realistic it sounds. Have you actually listened to the dialog in something like OT star wars, nobody talks like that either but your suspension of disbelieve sells it.
Animation and Videogames work just fine with overacting, as long as the editing is good.
>its fantasy so that means every aspect of it has to be fantasy including the voice acting which is what draws you in and adds to the characters
Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc. Tons of shit are fantasy but it doesn't mean everyone has to go around screaming to the top of their lungs when crying or doing other nonsensical over-acting. Its nothing more than a distraction from something trying to display serious emotion.
>Middle aged woman pretending to be old
>Zelda putting 0 effort on crying because the actress thinks it's mysoginistic
>Generic Lord of The Rings fantasy old man voice
It's really not very good.
you've never had a girl cry around you.
English voice actors probably feel a bit embarrassed to burst out a full on bloodcurdling scream in the studio, japs go through voice acting course and prep for that shit.
if it's live action it's different, actors feel it's more natural when the scene is physically being played out and live action cinema is an overall more respected medium.
Watch a fucking movie.
>taking a common phrase like that literally
This is why I stopped posting here
>le english dub is bad mamy may
EPIC MEME FRIEND XD
CAN I USE IT?
>screaming in pain
Don't make shit up
Latam spanish confirmed. It sounds almost as good as the jap voices.
you know, all they fucking needed for a good English cast was to let NoE handle the dub and let whoever localized the first Xenoblade do it.
But nope, Nintendo can't let us have good things without fucking it up.
It may be hammy as fuck, but goddamn it it would have emotion.
Japan likes melodrama, I don't know why this is breaking news to you, and you're free to hate it. That doesn't change the fact it's meant for the original Japanese voices, and so the English VA's should try to keep their performance on par with the Japanese voice actors.
This person is absolutely right. The answer though, even if you hate overacting, is to keep it the same as the original and how it was meant to be portrayed.
>lol u cant even tell th diffrenz if u don spek japanes xD
youtube.com
youtu.be
literally kill yourself
People screamed at the top of their lungs in literally all those examples. Fuck of, mate.
And we're all better for it, if you weren't lying through your teeth right now.
EH REH
I liked both
>No Gameplay
>No Graphics
>No Story
Why would I pay $350 to play this?
I'm beginning to think some of you have never heard an actual woman cry, then again I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
You should be complaining about the old woman's (likely Impa) voice. Now that is a poor attempt.
