Mark my words. People are not going to pay for online on the Switch. Not to play Splatoon, MK, or whatever.
When the trial period ends, there will be a major drop in online activity, and Nintendo will be forced to remove the paid online by 2018 if they want people to get back on it.
Elijah Reed
Probably. Nintendo doesn't have the AAA console shooter 90% of the people getting these consoles play, so customers have no reason to pay for a subscription.
Aaron Torres
I'd pay for online if Nintendo had decent goddam netcode. Display ping you jap fucks. Give me GGPO.
Ryan Price
>Mark my words. People are not going to pay for online on the XBox. >Mark my words. People are not going to pay for online on the PS3.
Anthony Ross
You're a fucking idiot if you think the PS4 and Xbone audience is the same as the Nintendo audience.
Lincoln Robinson
You're a fucking idiot if you think people won't pay regardless.
Xavier James
They're still paying for online though when you can go to PC and get it for free.
Tyler Allen
I'll put it this way.
If Nintendo makes their online not run like shit, adds social features, and has a decent price, and I can play Smash/Kart/Pokemon online, I'll pay.
If any of those are missing, fuck that shit.
Julian Carter
We'll probably have to wait until the Smash port and Pokemon Stars to see how willing people are to pay for online.
Ryder Taylor
Dude, people are so stupid that they have paid for the same pokemon shit game that is the same crap but with different color over 8 times, what makes you think such retarded people wont just pay to keep being scammed with low quality stuff that is only popular because of the brandname?
Mark my words, they will pay for ANYTHING as long as it has "nintendo" on it.
Jacob Phillips
Don't understand how Nintendo is once again trying to market the casual audience, but also expects them to pay a premium to use their software. Feels like it should be one or the other.
Tyler Howard
Do you think people buy Pokemon for the story or something? They add new Pokemon with new abilities and moves that further expand the competitive play.
Gavin Foster
Keep telling yourself that, rscottycuck. :^)
Blake Green
Well yeah, especially when people's expectations are that the online won't be any better than it has been.
Michael Lewis
If you want an example related to the Nintendo audience specifically, millions of retards actually paid money so they could move their Pokemon from a previous game to the next game, which was a basic feature before XY. Casual audiences are always gullible brain-dead morons who will buy whatever they're told they "have to" buy.
David Miller
I love how no free online basically kills the Pokemon concept.
Jace Davis
>Do you think people buy Pokemon for the story or something? There are actually people who unironically do this. You can see them now on /vp/ defending the fifth and seventh generations.
And normal people only barely care about the story, the moves, the abilities, or even the new Pokémon. They just want Kantoshit, because people like references they 'get' and Kanto is something they all played as a kid.
Christian Wilson
Isn't it only like $5?
Get a job you fucking loser.
Evan Garcia
>$5 a year for Pokemon trading shit >vs $5 a month to even have the ability to play online
Not even remotely the same thing, retard.
Evan Harris
No price yet.
Elijah Carter
Why do people keep saying $5?
Matthew Jenkins
I did it because it let me clone a shitload of legends in emerald and then transfer them up through soulsilver, white, and bank to y, which I thought was a fun little gimmick. Completed my national dex for the first time with that + gts.
On that note it's also useful for competitive types, lets them store an assload of extra breeding sows without having to shell out for an extra game or two for the extra box space.
Carter Ramirez
Pokemon Bank is $5 yearly I think, Nintendo doesn't like making things expensive so $5 a month might be reasonable, especially for parents whose shitty kids are going to want to play Minecraft online on their Switch.
Jacob Martin
>playing Pokemon for the battle shit
Showdown exists, and you skip all the breeding and training bullshit
Joseph Martinez
people pay to use pokemon bank they'll pay to use online
Hunter King
...
Hudson Diaz
tons of people on PS4 pay even for less. you can't really expect people to be reasonable nowadays and everyone wants to milk money from idiots
Cooper Scott
>it's okay when nintendo does it
Nintendo fanboys are the worst
Ethan Flores
Nintendo still thinks people outside of japan actually bring their systems with them, it's a lost cause my man. They have this weird assumption that the internet is up to snuff everywhere as it is in japan, which is why they haven't learned to restrict online play regionally in most games.
Anthony Ross
PS4 amd XBone are usually owned by adults, who have jobs, and do as they please with their money. The Switch is aimed at children, who will have to beg mommy for their credit card info. Switch online is dead on arrival.
Carson Ortiz
PS3 online has never had a charge
Robert Martin
You're right, they are more stupid that the two combined
Hunter Barnes
they didn't even announce the price yet, what's your point here?
Parker Nguyen
>it's not okay ONLY when Nintendo does it
You Sonnygers have been doing it for years, how do you even dare to call out Nintendo for it.
Kayden Brooks
Yeah, I wont.
Because I don't play Splatoon, Mario Kart, or Smash. I play GOOD nintendo games.
Juan Ross
>w-well you had it first so you have no right to complain when Nintendo does it!
HAHAHAHA
Gabriel Wright
dumb phoneposter.
Thomas Nelson
>Main audience of any console is kids >mommy mommy can you pay for xbox live >mommy mommy can you pay for PS+ >mommy mommy can you pay for my Nintendo online Yea I don't see how it's any different. It'll only affect people who pay for online for themselves out of their pocket and that's if they care. If you like Nintendo and like their games, you'll pay for online if there's a game you wanna play online with, like MK. I forgot that Sup Forums has a strange strange complex where they think they are a majority or a huge influence to the rest of the video game playing world. No one thinks like you people, when you think Normies wont buy something for the legit reasons you present, you forget that you're talking about normies, the same retards who pay for all the dumb shit you assholes swear againsts. Microtransactions, DLC, paid online services, expensive cosmetics, buying new versions of consoles they should have gotten the first time etc....Normies pay for these things every year and they will GLADLY continue to do so.
You fucking morons think the same people who buy a new iphone every year are afraid to spend more money on dumb shit.
Adrian Robinson
I hope they realize they've effectively locked themselves out to the younger audience. Kids under 18 who like Splatoon and want to play, like hell their parents are going to buy monthly online play for them.
Nolan Cook
He's right, though.
Luke Nguyen
it's true though, why even attack people for diong things you do yourself? Why is it wrong for others to do it, but not you? What sort of retarded, fanatical stockholm syndrome is that? It's like when you complain about 30 fps in a "you don't have bloodborned" thread. If we listen to you fucking special snowflake, sony can never be wrong, and it's not because of Sony, it's because of "the enemy".
Tyler Ward
What the hell are you talking about?
Lucas White
I unfortunately will if MH5 comes to the Switch.
Ian King
This
My brother only has PSN because my father is paying for it so he to play GTA online
My brother's ability to play online was an afterthought.
You forget that those children probably already have either a PS3/4 or Xbox 360/One
If they have those, do you really think the parents are gonna pay for more than one system to have online? If the kid was lucky he'd be able to choose which one has online at the beginning of each month.
Tyler James
>Implying there wouldn't Be any "Nyt moooooom, all My friends are Playing online.
Connor Miller
Post your dick again
Xavier Edwards
>b-but Sony!
Kek I haven't owned a Sony system since the ps2, PC all the way but enjoy paying for the shitty online you consoltard
Gabriel Thompson
>it's a tripfag talking shit episode over again how surprising
Isaac Davis
Yes I do believe so. Lets say a yearly subscription to online with Nintendo is 50 bucks, about the same as PS4 or Xbox one.
That's roughly only 100-120 bucks to have online for a the whole year on both systems. Yea that's not so hard to believe at all m8.
Jacob Thompson
I love how people are falseflagging and shitposting SO FUCKING HARD already.
You guys DO realize Nintendo hasn't announced a price yet, right? That means they're gauging reactions, and when they see how pissed people are they'll do SOMETHING to make people happier, like how Microsoft had a similar reaction when they tried to force Xbone DRM, and then they flat out said "fuck it, you win, we won't do that at all".
Most likely we'll see 1 or 2 of the following:
1. Cheap as fuck online. $2 a month or $20 a year sounds like something they would do, after all they had the common sense to make Pokebank only $5 a full year.
2. Nintendo-made games are free to play online. That means you can play your Splatoon and MK8D for free, and when Smash comes it's free to play it online too, but if a game is multi-plat and costs money on other consoles it'll cost you on Switch too. Note the website says SOME games will cost money to play online, so they could 100% do this without lying or technically backpedaling.
3. The bonuses for subscribers are huge. What if one of the first exclusive deals was "Get Splatoon 2 75% off digitally!"? That saves you $45 compared to buying it for $60, so if online is the same as MS and Sony at about $50 a year the service will actually pay for itself over time. This one has the added benefit of giving you a game that you'll want to keep paying for online for, which Nintendo obviously wants.
4. Games in general are free online, but other stuff (party chat) still isn't. It sucks a bit, but if your friends can't get Skype or some shit fuck em. They could make some shitty MMO or something that still requires a subscription and say "see, TECHNICALLY some games are free online, 99% of them are, only this one isn't!".
Bentley Foster
People said the same thing about the Xbox
Julian Bailey
>1. Cheap as fuck online. $2 a month or $20 a year sounds like something they would do,
Keep telling yourself that, bud.
Connor Reed
and then you will be forced to pay for online when you want to visit another town or receive gifts in Animal Crossing Switch.
You want to share and play other peoples levels in Mario Maker, too fucking bad.
Share pictures in Art Academy Switch, pay up jabroni
hell, share drawings period in any chat format you will need to pay up
what a time to be alive.
Connor Edwards
This, OP underestimate how much shit consolefags eat
>Mark my words, No one will buy PS+ on PS4 they will be FORCED to remove it >Mark my words No one will buy Xbox live on Xbox one, thye will be FORCED to remove it.
Mason Baker
The Nintendo one actually plays the games.
Joshua Stewart
Holy damage control batman!
Easton Baker
And let me remind you I'm not saying it's a good price, or a good thing at all. I'm saying stop thinking your opinion is anything like the rest of the worlds. When you see something unfair and say "dead on arrival, no one will pay for this", you guys have been wrong every single time. Paid online, DLC, micro transactions, new consoles and remakes of the same game it does not matter. Normies paid for these things, happily, every single time.
Noah James
Learn reading comprehension kiddo. I said 1 or 2 of the following 4 is extremely likely. That doesn't mean all 4 of them, and it doesn't mean any single 1 of them is guaranteed.
Wyatt Lee
>Share pictures in Art Academy Switch, pay up jabroni They confirmed social features, including friends lists and sharing stuff through the Miiverse equivalent will be free. Does Art Academy only share through itself? If it does, I would expect the sequel to say "click the Share button to save this scribble and post it for others to see it", which would be free.
Michael Harris
They'll do like Playstation Plus, where people keep it running just for the free games. Except they'll be Nintendo games, so people will actually enjoy what they get.
Chase Morales
It's almost as if we've been in this exact situation dozens of times, like when Microsoft said "hey we'll add DRM to the Xbone" and then said "nevermind since you hate it we'll 100% remove it".
Carter Edwards
>one free NES/SNES game for one month and then you have no access to it after
HAAH WAAW
Niggers could emulate the entire NES and SNES library on their smart phones. Nobody is paying online for "free" one month games.
Carter Bell
wait its $5 a month? thats nothing. i probably lose $5 a month in my pockets in the wash.
Nathan Taylor
Pokemon Bank is $5 a YEAR.
Nintendo specifically avoiding giving the price of online because they want to see how people react to the news and price is accordingly. See
Sebastian Carter
. Nintendo-made games are free to play online. Nope >4. Games in general are free online Nope
Brayden Perez
Wow, killer deals for non-subscribers.
Logan Wilson
I just hope GF/TPC throws a shitfit at the idea of charging to trade Pokemon since it would fuck up their marketing hard.
Xavier Murphy
Scroll up and see that it clearly says SOME games required paid online. That little snag obviously exists specifically so they can backpedal without actually lying if they need to.
Joshua Morris
That and the BP it gives you for having an assload of Pokemon in it is handy.
Anthony Hughes
>rscottyg spent 12 hours post-presentation crying like a bitch
Wow.
Joshua Campbell
>Scroll up and see that it clearly says SOME games required paid online
It says nothing of the sort.
Hudson Cooper
You posted it yourself right there.
"After the free-trial period, MOST GAMES will require a paid online..."
The fact that they include the word "most" instead of simply not fucking including it means SOME will not.
