Moderate fans of Zelda, let's talk about Breath of the Wild. Ultra-autists, Nintendo babies, drooling retards, memesters, and general undesirables not welcome
Based on the trailer yesterday, what are your thoughts?
To me, it seems like this game will finally fulfill the promise of a "next-gen" Zelda. Zelda has been stuck on Gamecube hardware for over a decade, so this feels like a big jump. The world looks huge but actually interesting to explore. It seems like there are varied climates/regions and lots of different races and towns to find. I'm optimistic.

I hope dual audio is in because the JP trailer was better voice-acted than the English one NOA put up later.
Dylan Fisher
I think it looks interesting and I'm excited to try it myself. However, I will not be buying a Switch until it seems worth the price.
Trailer made me tear up a bit though.
Carter Gutierrez
My hopes are that the story is lengthy to accommodate the size of the game.
Grayson Williams
Zelda fan here but I think I'm not too bias. After skyward sword being a huge let down for me, I'm excited for this one. I haven't truly enjoyed a 3D zelda since Majoras Mask. (I like WW but it has its flaws) My only fear for this the map. It looks huge, which is great, but I hope it isn't empty. I'm more comfortable now they showed more, but I just want a lot of towns.
Daniel James
From what I've seen it looks fun. But obviously trailers and stuff is going to be bullshots to make it look great. I don't doubt that it'll at least be pretty fun like most Zelda games but I'm not going to say it'll be groundbreaking or anything until I play it.
Juan Taylor
will most likely get it for wii u because ninty didn't sell me on the switch
looks pretty grand in scope and fun but I hope a focus on story and characters doesn't end up hurting the game, given the usual quality of nintendo's storytelling abilities
seems like they're pulling out all the stops, this is their chance to return zelda to the limelight

Imagine being Reggie in that conference and having to be all like "damn, Switch, you fuckin' fine, all powerful with your 32GB sd and horrific pixelated Wii graphics. I would totally play with you, both the CEO and the real me." when all he really wants to do is play another round of MHTri in his dressing room. Like seriously imagine having to be Reggie and not only stand on that stage while the Switch reveals its disgusting specs in front of you, the favorable hype barely concealing the paid online and plastic gimmick shit, and just stand there, game after game, presenter after presenter, while the conference keeps going. Not only having to tolerate the 70$ toys'r'us shake weight, but the atrocious battery run time as everyone on reddit tells nintendo STILL GOT IT and DAMN, BREATH OF THE WILD LOOKS LIKE *THAT*?? because they're not the ones who have to stand there and afterwards tell your yakuza bosses while the stocks reached a new low you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been making nothing but a healthy amount of successes and later raping Sony and Microsoft with sells for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the favelas in Waikiki. You've never even seen anything this fucking overpriced before, and now you swear you can taste the icecubes that're breaking out on the unnecessary cardboard stand as the new game starts buffing, reporters assuming that you are enjoying the opportunity to get paid to stand there and revel in the "consolesque (for that is what the call that tablet)" beauty, the beauty Nintendo worked so hard for in the previous months. And then Miyamoto calls for another game, and you know you could kill every single person in this room before the Switch gets its first exclusive , but you stand there and endure, because you're fucking Reggie. You're not going to lose your future chief operating career over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it

Same, I'd love to play it with Japanese audio and English subs. It would seem more magical if I don't understand what I'm hearing.
Camden Cooper
I don't know, I have liked zelda games and I'll probably like this one
but honestly something like zero dawn just looks like the same except better
Luke Smith
really want to play it but from a technical visual standpoint it does look really dated.
don't have a wii u and not getting a switch at launch - i'd bet good money that botw will be running well on cemu within 3-4 months of release with the option to upscale.

>this game will finally fulfill the promise of a "next-gen" Zelda. Zelda has been stuck on Gamecube hardware for over a decade
These are my exact thoughts since Skyward sword released/E32014 happened and you are my nigger.
Nintendo games do great at taking advantage of spec leaps, and the creative team must have been keeping a creative cumload since quite a lot of years already. It's gonna be fantastic.
Justin Gomez
I think making the graphics stylized to look sorta like a studio ghibli movie is a wise move
I'm worried that npc interactions and side quests will be gamecube-era levels of basic though
Dylan Watson
I love how BotW is looking from the bottom of my guts, but I keked hard with this.
Isaac Barnes
I don't think their art direction is that good. Everything just looks so doughy.
Adrian Harris
I have 2 problems with it. The washed out colors and people speaking. They should have done something like have them speak Hylian, and I hope they fix the colors on the Switch, because the Wii U has an awful color output. Or maybe if you emulate it on Cemu you'll be able to fix the colors.
Brandon Garcia
wtf is with the washed out and fuzzy art in this game? it looks disgusting
Nolan Martin
Combination of low resolution and the Wii U having a lower color output than other consoles. It's link 16-235 RBG or something instead of 1-255. I probably got all of that wrong, but it's something like that.
Hudson Sanchez
yeah this is the nintentoddle excuse but this IS SWITCH FOOTAGE
Christian Brooks
Completely agree. I never even played Skyward Sword, but I watched enough gameplay to see that I didn't like it. The last truly brilliant Zelda was Majora's Mask, so I hope BotW is even better.
Isaiah Collins
Some of it comes from the video compression, so when you play it for yourself it'll look a bit more vibrant.
The color output theory of yours is bunk though. Dunno where you got that nonsense but go ahead and toss that out the window.
Robert Sanchez
I know. It seems like they put no effort into fixing the color.
Hudson Stewart
I think the new trailer finally sold me on the final product, it looks amazing and sounds amazing. Also it looks to be set in hyrule after the fall of ganon in ocarina of time, so needless to say i am super excited to explore the world and see the sights, i would imagine the majority of it would have been abandoned or like in oot most of the hyrule citizens were killed off so it will be cool to see where that takes things. This would be the reason the deku tree was reborn in oot as you see link talk to him in the trailer, further making me believe this is a continuation of the oot world.
