I started doing it for all passwords. If you always do it - even when not required - it won't be an issue when it IS required.

Mathematically speaking, a password consisting of words with 24 lowercase letters is a million times harder for a computer to crack than something like "Jd2VuS9n" and much easier for a human to remember.

Pick 4 words that you can remember.

Make one of them have a capital, and put a symbol in the middle of another.

You now have a secure password that's easy to remember.

Dictionaries exist, user. I'm pretty sure any good brute force attempt will start trying to match dictionary entries

Though I'll grant you that if it's like 5 different words, a brute force isn't going to make it that far in any reasonable amount of time.

As long as your password ever was a part of a leaked database or a variance of something from there, it is as safe as a paper lock in a shoddy neighborhood.

Nobody expects you to put nigger in a password.

Allowing symbols is great, a larger character set ruins brute force attempts. Requiring a symbol is not so great, since it actually reduces the potential password set and is potentially harder to remember.

Use a password manager if you can and change your passwords once in a while. Problem solved.
