I didn't really know about anything Nintendo-related aside from Pokemon, Mario and MAYBE Kirby until after Smash 64. There's nothing wrong with that.

Metroid was awesome and I wish Nintendo did more with it instead of disregard it's non-Japanese appeal.

They already announced games that are currently developing so they didn't even start or have the intent to produce a new Metroid game.

Super Metroid is arguably the best game for the snes, the original game was highly popular on the nes, and then there's Metroid Prime (they came after smash, yes, but still)

Metroid is one of the bests franchise Nintendo has, and it's highly underutilized
