What is the best Diablo-clone??

I absolutely love Diablo-Clones. They're the fast food of video gaming. Instant gratification without much work and tons of replayability

Rank these games from best to worst:
Diablo 1-3
Torchlight 1-2
Titan Quest: Immortal Throne
Grim Dawn
Fate 1-3
(More suggestions??)

Throne of Darkness is solid.

Van Helsing Final Cut is the deepest and most interesting and is the best overall. The rest are garbage.

Path of Exile is top tier right now. The true successor to Diablo 2

People say the Van Helsing games are pretty decent Diablo clones.

There's some 40k one where you play as an Inquisitor coming out soon, too.

Prince of Qin

Had a friend sperg out on me for calling these games diablo clones instead of ayy arr pee gees.

Is Victor Vran any good?

Path of Exile is pretty gud.

Marvel Heroes

Cookie Clicker is free.

Path of Exile is the best.

Darkstone was also good fun and very underrated.

Going to recommend PoE as well. Also heard good things about grim dawn but I haven't played

...

Path of Exile is okay, but it's boring to get started and only the wealthy can meaningfully participate in the economy. Is act 5 still an over-tuned clusterfuck?

Diablo = Diablo 2 > Grim Dawn > Diablo 3 > Titan Quest > pile of dog shit >>>>>>>>>>>> Path of Exile > all the rest

>only the wealthy can meaningfully participate in the economy
You do realize everyone is the same at the start of new league right ?
If you play less than others, dont complaint if you are not rich as them

Divine Divinity is good
other than that the only Diablo clone/game I liked was Diablo 1. D2 was too mindless and grind focused for my liking.

Grim Dawn

>3.0 previously announced for late january release
>january comes
>they announced another fucking league is set to release before 3.0
Jesus christ GGG

Whats wrong with Torchlight?

Diablo 2
Diablo 1
Grim Dawn
Torchlight 1
Torchlight 2
Titan Quest: Immortal Throne
Fate 1-3

Don't play Marvel Heroes. It's very shallow and doesn't have meaningful content.

You seriously can't get much better than PoE.
I'm not a fan of the genre overall, but the only game in the recent decade that kinda captured the feel of D2 is PoE.
Prepare to delete your character because of shit build like in D2 though.

Wasn't it hard as fuck thought?

I remember just the 1st dungeon was like 10 fucking hours.

>Meaningful content
>ARPG Skinner Boxes

Seconded.

...

Wolcen, currently in early access but looks and feels so good

Torchlight was my first game of this type. I had no real clue about making a build. It was fun and even when my character was weak and poorly equipped it didn't feel like a chore.

PoE

PoE is probably the best diablo clone out there, very solid game

only going to rank the ones I've played so:
Diablo 2
Grim Dawn
TQ
TL2
TL1

Path of Exile

Diablo 3 is fun

I don't know. It looks like it should be.

this shit right here
divine divinity is absolutely god tier

aleroth catacombs is pretty long for a tutorial dungeon but it gets you to the correct level to take on the orcs outside the gate

Not hard at all.

>learn the crafting system for pots/poisons etc.
>keybind and use your class ability (stealth can be amazing, warrior ability is fucking OP and mage's swap makes you super slippery)
>use traps whenever you absolutely positively have to kill every motherfucker in the room with a scorpion that's 50+ levels higher
>don't be afraid to run from fights, orcs can be nasty in the beginning
>use your pyramids, they save a lot of time
>given due time and enough experience you will become a literal god, don't give up!

PoE, kiwis man, kiwis.

Diablo 3 is a pretty shitty Diablo clone.

Not only is it a boring ass game, but it also obliterated a pretty large userbase.

How is Grim Dawn better than PoE, serious question. Played TQ and TL1/2 for a few hours and thought they were boring as fuck.

Been playing it recently. It's fun. Not a ton of depth. Feels really good on a controller. Traditional mouse controls actually don't feel great.

Main character is voiced by the same guy who did Geralt for the witcher series.

Not sure how the co-op is. Overall it's average. Does nothing amazing (except for the controller support) but it seems solid.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Raid mode

Try Vindictus its pretty good

Dungeon Siege 2?

How is it that you love Diablo clones and you didn't even bother to play/mention PoE?

Path of Exile

>shit 2000s engine
>zero balance
>"gold" system is rng based
>everything is rng based
>gem linking system is awkward as fuck and RNG
>cuck devs

Despite all that its still the best Diablo 2 clone. Fuck Blizzard for giving diablo up. .

When was it ever announced for late January?
It was announced for 3-4 months after breach back when breach was announced.

I thought the whole appeal of the genre was RNG, odd seeing people complaining about it

Dungeon Siege III

Wouldn't ARPG include everything from Fable to the Witcher to Dark Souls to fucking Dex?

Diablo 2 is still on Battle.net? Is there a chance that it will get a big update?

That's what I tried to tell him, apparently that was the trigger for his super autism.

Who knew.

>"Gold" system is RNG based
There isn't any thing in that game that comes close to being like gold

Having a RNG based
>gold system
>skill system
>progression system
Thats really too much. The genre's appeal was just gear RNG. They took it to the next level.

Diablo 2 is in maintenance mode. They haven't done anything with it besides minor bug fixes / server updates in years.

RPG is practically a meaninless term at this point aside from defining games with stats and progression. Anyone that gets anal about it isn't worth arguing with.

>have had every single witch doctor offhand in the game drop except the exact one I want at least 30 times this season
and I thought gearing in poe was bad

You used the orbs to craft your gear and buy gear from other players. Tell me thats not like gold.

Kinda agree with you. Everything is very RNG based, but I wasn't asking that in a snarky way, I'm just not familiar with the genre too much, anything you'd recommend?

so why aren't you cubing it?

I came to post this.

Thanks user. Now I know that some of us on Sup Forums don't have shit taste like OP.

>Diablo 3
>rank it somewhere

Lol. No ty.

Next thing you're going to tell me is that maps are like gold because you can buy shit with them as well

because it hasn't appeared? I don't understand your question

think he means crafting it

>tfw D3 is so shitty than half of the discussion on /d3g/ is about Diablo 2 builds
i just want to die

There is a recipe to upgrade rares into legendaries. You have a much better chance to get a particular thing you want that way.

I like everything about PoE except for the passive tree. I feel like I can either make my own build, play like 50hours until I hit a brick wall because my character is shit and restart or I blindly copy some build on the internet and then I might as well use a bot to play the game for me. I want to experiment with builds but I dont want to spend hundreds of hours until I realize I fucked up somewhere and restart again. I unironically believe d3 was more fun in this aspect, I moved my skills around a lot doing all kinds of stupid shit until I figured out something that worked

Path of Exile is practically Diablo 2 as if it were still being developed to this day. It takes everything good about Diablo 2 and builds on it. It's the closest thing to it.

oh nice, is there a specific base I need to keep or will any rare fetish suffice?

Unfortunately it has balance issues at the moment

The Lord of the Rings Two Towers for GBA was a pretty fun Diablo clone. It was pretty simplified but it was still good.

Since it's a witch doctor specific offhand, any rare fetish works.

When it comes to things like maces and such certain heroes have a better chance to get certain items so you'd need to look those up

Honestly? Diablo 2 with quality mods.
Other than that you can try Titan Quest.

That general died years ago

Fucking loved this game, 10/10

this game was fun

NOX

exactly like the diablo 3 community.

Played Titan Quest on release, thought it was neat, but at this point it's a game of "figure out the best build" since no updates.
What are those cool D2 mods though?

Path of exile for depth, grim dawn for an offline arpg that doesn't rely on trading, and the rest are shit. They're either too old with few features or far too clunky to be fun.

Just like videogames

Torchlight 2 was fun to mod the shit out of.
I might go back to it someday.

MU is so grindy it's not even funny.
>Path of exile
>depth
>mfw

Not everybody plays meme build of the month

Is PoE worth it if I have sup-par internet and more interest in fighting then trading?

D3
T1
T2
Titan Quest
Grim Dawn
D2
Fate games
D1

Hellgate London is an alright Diablo clone / FPS hybrid, and I say that hating Borderlands.

There was some Chinese Mythology Diablo clone that I can't remember the name of that was pretty cool for a playthrough or too, wish I could fucking remember it.

Rankings of what I've played:
Diablo 2
Titan quest IT (anniversary for game engine speed up)
D1 = D3 (For very different reasons, I played 2.0 but never the expansion for D3)
Path of Exile
Torchlight 2
Fate (can't remember which one I playued)
D3 (before 2.0, was fucking trash)
Torchlight 1

PoE, not close.

If you are startinf out just pick a random build from a random guide and go from there. Say you want to be a ranger, check Lightning Arrow. Start building towards that.

I'd also start in whatever extended league is going at the time.

GGG has made the game alot easier for new players. You get a ton of customization straight from playing the campaign without any RNG fucking over your build.

You can acquire decent wealth fairly quickly. The economy is kinda weird, but just look up your curency before you trash or use it. You can trade up pretty effectively. Getting shit legendaries is really easy through trading.

Book of Demons seems to have a lot of promise. It's like a more casualised version of Diablo requiring less input but is surprisingly addictive.

There's a demo on steam that's worth having a try. Still not convinced it's worth the full price yet, plus it's in EARLY ACCESS so yeah....

I played it for a month while tethered to my phone via Bluetooth

describe "sub-par internet". PoE serverss sometimes go poo. play HC at your one risk.

It's worth it even if you just play through the "story" once on Hardcore. After that you can decide whether you want to continue going through the difficulty tiers and start farming shit.
Many of the best builds for league-starts are incredibly self-sufficient and don't need any particular gear to succeed, try to start with one of these and tailor it to your liking.

There are plenty of conversion mods on the moddb for D2. I only played with MedianXL so far. Its pretty well made.
But the most important for me are the resolution mod MultiRes so you can play in whichever resolution you want and Plugy that adds a bigger stash and free resets.

...

Diablo 3 with RoS is actually a really good and fun game if you havent played it before.

Tons of loot and cool builds. People shit on it right now because they have played everything several seasons ago back when Blizzard cared about the game.

>putting d1/d2 up that high
>putting GD above PoE

Brain dead shitcrow detected

Diablo 2
Titan Quest: Immortal Throne
Grim Dawn
Diablo 1
Diablo 3
Torchlight 1
Torchlight 2

Don't know about Fate.

Dungeon Siege series is good, 2 is the best one I think. 3 is very arcade with no replayability, but I think it works very well for one or two runs. Van Helsing is ok. I personally think Torchlights are garbage.

LOL

Well I'll give it a try. I have satellite internet, its good but low ass cap hurts. I need to scratch my diablo itch

Alright time for my life's story guys. See if you can help me out here. So the last Diablo I played was the first one about 17 years ago. My friends were convinced if I liked Ergheiz I would like it too. And while I appreciated the music and atmosphere I hated clicking to move so I wound up sticking to console dungeon crawlers for the rest of my teen years. I loved Ehrgeiz's dungeon campaign, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath, shit like that.

More recently I've toyed with trying out some of the cheapo PC dungeon crawlers on occasion. I think one was named Fate or something. Never stuck.

So now I've finally given Diablo 3 a try because of this D1 anniversary promotion and I actually like it a great deal. I'm getting used to the mouse clicking a bit but I really would prefer WASD. Oh well. What I want to know is where do I go from here? Should I try D2? Torchlight? What?

TLDR: I've always liked dungeon crawlers but not on PC. I'm over that now and want to catch up. Wat do?
