>Miyamoto publicly apologized on the Treehouse Switch stream about being so assbackwards and senile recently >conceded that he is openly giving more younger *not senile* developers opportunities to provide ideas and feedback in Super Mario Odyssey >said lenience may be the reason why we have cool, original stuff like New Donk City, the rabbit quartet, the mechanical caterpillar, all the unique juxtaposed environments, Mario's new hat, the rideable statue lion, the skeleton people, and not a single Toad/Koopaling in sight >is actually very excited about the game because of this, you can tell there was a lot he wanted to talk about but couldn't yet, and that finally being able to talk about it at all was gratifying >confirmed straight-up that Super Mario Odyssey will be aimed at core Mario players because casual players can play Super Mario Run
Are you ready to forgive and forget, or do you need to see more?
I'm still so fucking annoyed there's not a prostate-massage minigame, but overall very happy with it.
Aaron Ortiz
Honestly, Odyssey looks like everything I could want from a new Mario game. I was expecting more generic NSMB/3D Land shit, but what we got kind of blew me away. It looks really creative and fun, and a breath of fresh air is what modern Mario games DESPERATELY need.
Ethan Green
It takes a lot of guts for an old timer to admit he can't call the shots forever
the same thing happened with Splatoon's early development. They faced harsh criticism in beginning but the designers shot back with impressive gameplay and eventually made Miyamoto proud.
Chase Evans
I will never forgive him or forget his bullshit. Just take him to the back of the fucking shed if he wants me to be satisfied with his decisions. And for fuck's sake, don't let him tell the RPG teams how to do their damn jobs.
Thomas Martin
source
where the fuck is the source?
Sebastian Peterson
Only if we can take you back there first subhuman.
Dylan Butler
I will forgive once he makes a good starfox unlike the last one, redeem himself there. Then announce metroid and F-zero and we are good.
Lincoln Morris
>OP says the source >where is the source!
Treehouse Switch stream from this morning, they had a segment with him on it for Odyssey, sure it's on their youtube channel now.
Isaiah Clark
Mario 3D world did not click with me at all.
I was beginning to think I would no longer play Mario games, but this new one has me willing to try it. Also less primary colors, less linear. It's just more interesting.
Jaxson Adams
He never "apologized" for shit, the most he said was that when he was making Galaxy he made the levels very linear so casuals could play the game. He also said that Mario 64's level design was based on how his pet hamster would run around his house freely to explore, but that's not important.
Carson Gutierrez
>wher is der source??? >Miyamoto publicly apologized on the Treehouse Switch stream about being so assbackwards and senile recently >the Treehouse Switch stream
The first fucking line you absolute moron.
Justin Ortiz
I think Minamoto can be useful in the way that he can apply external pressure to different teams to makes them make better games.
Benjamin Russell
Yes, he's the big bad villain who's coincidentally the good guy. Miyamoto obviously was under a lot of pressure when Iwata passed. The both of them were like mentors at Nintendo.
Iwata had vast technical knowledge and had a amazing eye for mechanics meanwhile Miyamoto had seniority and is still seen as game idea god around the place. Miyamoto is well aware that he is seen as a stern authority figure and that some teams worked better with Iwata looking after them, but that doesn't stop him from frightening the everloving fuck out of people. It comes in handy.
Jason Baker
not him but who wants to sit through a 5-hour video looking for a 2-second source that probably isn't even there?
Evan Howard
FPBP
Gabriel Richardson
Looking at it now, each segment is timestamped. No excuse.
Gabriel Perry
link it
Chase Ramirez
What makes or breaks it for me is how populated the levels are.
What we saw in the trailer seemed kinda barren, I hope it was just that they didn't want to show off the level design yet, but if they stay that empty then this game might be a pass for me. The reason why people loved Sunshine and 64 is because of the colorful, creative levels, in addition to tons of things to see and do in those levels. We'll see how well Nintendo understands that, they're notoriously bad at understanding what made their previous games good.
Aiden Price
I got to say, this is already looking like the best Mario game in a LONG time.
Though I'm still not planning on getting a Switch. Fuck paid online.
Leo Campbell
exactly, no excuse for OP to be a faggot and not link directly to his own claims.
Jaxson Clark
Then fuck off. No one cares if you live as the uninformed faggot, nothing changes and the discussion continues. Alls well that ends well.
Owen Stewart
Do you fucking work at Nintendo? Stop acting like it.
Landon Powell
>Miyamoto publicly apologized on the Treehouse Switch stream about being so assbackwards and senile recently
I think you're reading a little too much into his words. He just talk about how new developers who grew up with games are contributing interesting new ideas to the game. Where was this apology, as you put it?
Nathaniel Taylor
Is Miyamoto fucking dying?
;_;
Aiden Sullivan
Proof of any of this? Links to interview? Subs? Screenshots?
>Mario 64's level design was based on how his pet hamster would run around his house freely to explore
Why is Miyamoto so cute?
Asher Cook
>gamers are basically just hamsters who run around through a cheap plastic toy really makes you think.
Luke Kelly
>Stop acting like it. go suck a dick crybaby
people are going to talk about game developers regardless of whether or not you like it. they publish stories about this shit, it's not my fault you hate to read about people who work for a living
David Diaz
I watched it. I couldn't tell if it was anger or disappointment in himself, but either way, he seemed to disagree with some of the suggested places Mario should be able to visit, and when it was added into the game, the higher ups agreed with it. Basically, Miyamoto has lots touch with Mario fans.
Cameron Scott
No. You're a retarded fucking "expert gamer" who sits his fatass on Sup Forums and thinks he knows how game development works because he read some shit on the internet.
Hudson Young
If peach is fully playable like Marion I'll forgive him or atlesst make luigi and rosa be playable.
Dylan Perry
Minamoto gets forgiven when he releases his deathgrip on F-Zero.
Juan Barnes
To anybody that is interested in the treehouse livestream, don't watch the 1 2 Switch part. Is there a word for something beyond cringe? Cause that's what it was. This stupid fucking cowboy voice for quick draw was so bad, even the lady in the room on the couch was laugh about how bad it was. It was worse then the Wii, at least the Wii didn't have a obnoxious and corny voice advising you about the instructions. Its like if you picked up Wii Sports for the first time, and the tutorial had a baby's voice saying "prepair yousef by holding da, da wee mote lik dis goo goo gaa gaa"
Christian Cooper
>sandbox mario >expecting anyone but Mario being playable Besides, Peach was shown to be kidnapped, of course she's not gonna be playable.
Levi Bailey
>I project onto other people to alleviate my shortcomings in life keep crying boypussy
Noah Garcia
I was thinking maybe something like spm.
Dylan Rivera
Luigi yoshi and wario worked on the ds version.
Elijah Fisher
>Making Bowser the villain >Again
Aaron Hill
I guess I don't count Mario 64 DS because it's a remake. I did love that it brought in those characters though, that was great.
Adam Nelson
Fool! Once you go down the path of evil you never turn back! You hear me?! NEVER!!!
Luke Ross
The only good alternative to having Bowser being the villain is to have him playable. Yeah I know we've done this a million times but Bowser is the only recurring Mario character outside of Luigi that I genuinely enjoy seeing every time.
no I'm not gay, the RPG games just really made me appreciate Bowser as a character
Andrew Anderson
Shame that Miyamoto despises the RPG games because Bowser actually has personality in them.
Angel Peterson
>based on how his pet hamster would run around his house freely to explore, but that's not important. Come now, user, that's extremely important.
Charles Mitchell
...
Luke Gray
Speaking from experience Todd?
Luke Young
Co-op like 3D world
Grayson Cox
Ive always loved the idea in my mind of Miyamoto being a Sam Hyde character at the office. Just like the programmers are working at their desks and suddenly Miyamoto starts slamming his fists on the window and laughing like a maniac, or he chokes out one of the interns in the break room, or just walks by some guys desk and flips his papers on to the floor and just laughs as he continues walking along.
Leo Myers
>slamming his fists on the window and laughing like a maniac LOCK ME UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY
Owen Diaz
>rabbit quartet >new and original
They're basically just the koopalings, only they're rabbits
Jordan Collins
I'd be scared too.
Evan Foster
too bad its being held hostage on the switch
Logan Taylor
release bara bowser
Cooper Thompson
Really showing that underage right there faggot.
Michael Jones
Which was the case with Splatoon, you also have to remember that he just gives feedback and ideas. It's a matter of if devs decide to follow them. For the most part if you have Miyamoto think you should do something, you're going to do it 99.9999% of the time because it would be like getting art advice from Michelangelo. You'd be an arrogant twat to think you know better than him.
Of course it sometimes goes 'badly' like with Sticker Star where he told ID to not play it safe by doing a rehash of TTYD. (Which people would find a way to whine) and put a new spin of the series. But hey, you can't say they didn't try something new. And M&L series handles the RPG style Mario games. Paper Mario has it's own bubble now.
Thomas Jones
So what do you guys think about all those loads of DKC references in New Donk City especially Miyamoto acknowledging K. Rool's existence?
Bentley Rivera
>Paper Mario has it's own bubble now Terrible games that half-assedly imitate what the series used to be, but without any depth or substance?
Brody Butler
>yfw Donkey Kong is the boss Even better >yfw you can unlock Donkey Kong to play as him
Easton Hughes
no, you can't make me share
his meaty nips belong to me
Brandon Diaz
Day 1 buy for me if that happened.
William Gray
You clearly have no idea what the fuck it is you're talking about so unless your retarded stop fucking replying to me.
Brody Scott
Are you okay user?
Ryan Brooks
>other people don't know what they're talking about >for some reason he doesn't know how to reply properly couldn't you be any more of an asspained faggot?
Julian Wood
>I don't have a rebuttal so I'll just say he's projecting Typical dumb nigger.
Julian Kelly
>I'll call him a nigger! Yes, that'll do. i like the way snrub thinks
Anthony Evans
This game looks like shit
Evan Smith
>without any depth or substance just like the old ones
Aaron Miller
Mad nigger. Go back to Facebook, champ. Or should I say "unga bunga Facebook senpai".
Alexander Scott
I hope K Rool can be seen making calls from a office building window.
Hudson Ross
Is everything alright over there?
Did something happen?
Robert Diaz
the movement still looks pretty stiff and trash, nothing like SM64. but the openly designed levels may be enough to save it.
Thomas Perez
did we watch the same trailer?
Zachary Turner
PS4 is still better than a million Nintendo Bitches
SM64fag here, the movement looks pretty good. Maybe not as good as SM64's or Sunshine's, but the best we've had in years.
Angel Davis
holy shit it looks so good but i dont want to buy a goddamn switch
Caleb Carter
SHUT THE FUCK UP >SHUT THE FUCK UP SHUT THE FUCK UP >SHUT THE FUCK UP SHUT THE FUCK UP >SHUT THE FUCK UP SHUT THE FUCK UP >SHUT THE FUCK UP
Camden Martinez
This is how I imagine prostate exams will be. Send help.
Benjamin Sullivan
Is this even a real doujin? I see this shit get posted all the time as a joke.
Elijah Scott
It looks stiff. It's definitely less floaty than Galaxy, but it's got a lot of 3DW's somewhat limited capping on distance and height, although it's definitely a bit less severe.
Angel Butler
When's he going to give younger, less senile devs the chance to make a good Star Fox?
Samuel Torres
...
Jordan Peterson
...
Ayden Hall
This is absolutely great. Hopefully this and BotW's design philosophy means other games and spinoffs will be less rigid and handholdy in the future.
Make Paper Mario great again.
Robert Jones
Longjump looks majorly nerfed. In 64, Galaxy and Galaxy 2 it was amazing
