>all the 64 moves are back
my dick is diamonds
I don't wanna spoil any fun level details. I hate watching footage of games I want.
CAN MARIO CRAWL AGAIN?
I'm watching it on mute and yet I can hear Mario's voice at every jump he does
WOHOOOOOOO
I didn't see any crawling, but I wouldn't count it out.
Maybe this is premature, but if literally all of Mario 64's moves are back, does this mean that it's a game in the same vein as 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, etc? The recent Mario games (Land, World) are fine, but those star/shine collecting kinda games are just 10/10
>I'm watching it on mute
Sounds like the best way to watch these clowns.
Do you guys want Mahito Yokota to do the music for this game?

So they are now mimicking "open world" game action. Game looks LOT like Wii U game but only with better shaders. In portable format this will work but on big screen it doesn't unfortunately bring any improvement over Wii U. So they are now reinventing Wii U in fucking portable format. What they are thinking with 32 gig sd cards and these gimmick bullshits? I'm tired of Nintendo shitting on itself.
Issue is that when they go finally completely on mobile they will drag lot of game developers with them and this will affect the game industry as a whole in negative way.
That's what they said. City seems to be the Hub, like the Castle and Delfino Plaza were
Wait Punch and Kick are back?
Delfino Plaza is still the best video game hub.
Why does Mario's animations look so stiff compared to 3D world? It reminds me of Sunshine, especially how it looks like he carries very little momentum when he stops running
>new
this shit's been around around since last night
thought I was getting actually new footage fuck you my man
>open world
Are you people fucking retarded.
Are you late? All of those have been shown, answered, and confirmed straight from Nintendo a day ago
Honestly, what's been missing other than the dive?
I haven't seen this. Where are you seeing that it's confirmed to be a 64 like game?
Oh, oops, didn't see those. I honestly forgot he even had those moves
Literally came from Miyamoto's/translator's mouth.

>Mario embarks on a new journey through unknown worlds, running and jumping through huge 3D worlds in the first sandbox-style Mario game since Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. Set sail between expansive worlds aboard an airship, and perform all-new actions, such as throwing Mario's cap.
They said that it would be just like sunshine and 64 during the Switch reveal.
By open world he means large open levels. Not literal open world.
I know what he meant, but he still said sandbox and open world in the small talk on Treehouse segment.
nevermind, I just skipped to the timestamp OP had. Instead of looking at 5:06 to 9:44. It looks like they are trying to base the game off Sunshine's movement
>ity seems to be the Hub, like the Castle and Delfino Plaza were
I'm pretty sure that's not how it works
If anything there are multiple hubs. The entire point of the game is about hopping into different worlds/realities with unique aesthetics and themes. The city is just one of those themes
>base the game off Sunshine's movement
Good Mario controlled the best in that game.
There is going to be so much art of Peach in a wedding dress.
Well fuck, this just made it a 10/10 for me.
>Zelda BOTW
>Super Bomberman R
>Mario Kart 8
>Disgaea 5
>Splatoon 2
>Mario Odyssey
All in the first year, definitely happy I bought a Switch
>1080 60
HOLY FUCK
Yeah you are probably right, They just seem to be really concentrating on the City, Might be the first world then.
>not mentioning Xenoblade 2
I don;t think there's a real hub. It's probably Starship Mario where you can hang out in the ship and then select ur level on a shitty map screen.
Or maybe it's Tardis sized inside. Who knows.
>mario climbs up curved lamppost
YOOOOO
That's not confirmed for 2017, is it? Either way, yeah I'm pretty interested in that one too. Dunno how people can say that the switch will end up like the Wii U with a straight face. I mean, look at the first year alone, damn
>showed all of his moves except cartwheel jump even though it was in the trailer
CARTWHEEL JUMP IS CONFIRMED BEHIND A PAYWALL. ITS OKAY WHEN NINTENDO DOES IT
Glad they're done with galaxy and 3d trash
>all the jumps are back
fuck yeah
Nintendo said it is coming out in 2017.
yeah, sounds great
after two years since the only worthwhile launch title is also on Wii U, the console that just got a working emulator
Galaxy 2 is the best Mario game.
>Mario doesn't do a pose after the backflip or triple jump
DROPPED
Probably will be delayed
>only worthwhile launch title
>forgetting about best bomber boy
*breathes in*
Wrong
what does this mean? does it mean that oddysey is gonna be more like sm 64 and sunshine than the galaxy games?
It's a shame Mario goes from still to full speed in half a second. I kind of like momentum from 64 but ever since Galaxy they've given Mario a default "length" to his jump so you always know where he'll land (Probably so he'll always hit his boomerang hat when you jump)
fuck yes, that guy did an amazing job with galaxy
yes
Yes, ideally he'll control like he did in Sunshine as well.
>they acknowledge that Galaxy 1 & 2 were linear as shit
the first step to recovery is acceptance
Top row: 3D Mario games centered around clearing courses
Bottom row: 3D Mario games centered around exploration
Odyssey, as said by Miyamoto in they Treehouse stream, is a direct successor to 64 and Sunshine aimed at hardcore gamers. He recognizes that the casual children he was targeting during the Wii and Wii U days are now grown up, and wants to create a game that is much more difficult and in-depth.
Where will you be when Nintendo wins this holiday season with a single game?
>Galaxy 2's Perfect Run
>casual
But is the breakdance move back?
not the same user, and this is gonna sound close minded by $15-20 digital download games don't really count as system sellers
its 60 bucks
>>they acknowledge that Galaxy 1 & 2 were linear as shit
Why is linear bad
>15 years since sunshine
>tfw I love Bomberman
>but it's literally the only game I'm interested in on the Switch and buying a console for a single game is a cardinal sin
I'm sorry, explosives guy. I'm so sorry.
It's not, they seem to forget Galaxy 2 is the best 3D platformer ever made
...
It's not, but when they crank out linear titles for the next three main Mario's it gets a bit tiring
what's the purpose of the new york (new donk) level, have they explained anything? i didn't see any enemies apart from a bunch of goombas in one screenshot? also, weather changes?
alright it's a system seller
THIS^!
please tell me I can do sick coffee grinders again!
isn't that a placeholder price?
Weather/Time of Day probably changes between Stars.
They're open hub style levels, the new donk from the start is probably like level 1, star 1 so it's just about giving you space to figure out how he controls and stuff.
>Mario 64 sequel about traveling to parallel universes
damn this is making me erect. imagine all the secrets in that city. this and yookah laylee gives me hope that 3D platformers may be here to stay
I know the hat has porn already but what about the bunny chick
it's a full retail game
Because DK94 is canon and Mario did come from a unspecified New York styled city before coming to the Mushroom Kingdom.
It also showed up in Donkey Kong Land.
Do yourself a favor and pick up LEGO City Undercover when it comes to Switch. It's an open world, 3D platformer collectathon that was criminally overlooked when it came out on Wii U.
>hat porn
jesus, they're quick
oh my god
i was never a lego fan but i had some interest in picking it up
>New York level
>Construction site
>Donkey Kong series references
I wonder who might appear as a boss.
If Professor E Gadd is in this, does that confirm dankest timeline?
...
a giant mechanical centipede
This thing.
It's not really a LEGO game, which is what makes it so great. It has traditional LEGO game-style levels, but that's an extremely small and dismissable part of the game. The real game is a fantastic 3D platformer with a LEGO aesthetic.
It seems a little weird to be the real world. In Sanic there's enough npc variety that you just brush off repeats but here everyone is either a fedoralord or 50's woman. Plus nobody is fucking freaking out over Mario or the fact all the roads lead to a cliff like it's Silent Hill.
>implying donkey kong isn't the mayor of New Donk City
its a Mario game.
lookit all those weak points to attack for massive damage
...
is that...
I think, after careful analysis, Odyssey is in the timeline where DK befriends Mario.
>I'VE TRAVELLED THROUGH THE FABRIC OF REALITY ITSELF LOOKING FOR YOU, ITALIAN MEATBALL FUCK.
>HALF PRESS YOUR WAY OUT OF THIS
>we're finally getting a true 3D Mario platformer after all these years
better late than never I guess
Just buy the game. You don't even need to get the console. Do it for him.
Wait a minute those eyes...
Shiggy literally said in the treehouse live that Odyssey is going to be a spiritual successor to 64/sunshine. More difficult than mario world games and more exploration based
It's Game Based on The Move That was based on the Game
I hope Bowser gets his pizza this time.
>First Yooka-Laylee
>Now this
What went so right?
He could crawl in 3D World, so I don't see why not.
Punch and kick. Believe it or not, those meme pictures about 3D World being dumbed down or having less movement options were just lies.
honestly, this game looks amazing. it's just so far away. whatever, nintendo wins. I will buy a switch when this game launches.
nigga
nintendo has been making """open world""" mario before GTA was even a thing.
Now all we need is a Wario World sequel
