I started FES 4 years ago and dropped it at 50 hours and now I barely remember what plot there was or the mechanics.
If yes should I play as female MC?

Yes. FeMC is the more enjoyable route.

It's not bad or anything but it's basically a non-cannon story for the fans

If you like the story then get it and play Femc to see the changes and play on hard to compensate for the easier battle mechanics

Now that I'm at it, would you say the psp version of persona 2 is worth playing?
I heard that the gameplay isn't exactly stellar but bearable and that the story is great.

I made the mistake of not playing on normal difficulty and dropped it because of that.

The combat is retarded and every action is hidden behind 20 menus

Game is easy, but the battles are slow, the ui makes little sense, and random encounters are constant.

Its still absolutely worth playing for the story and characters.

Does anyone know if you can get +2 to all stats on the Aura Dog Suit in FES? I've seen mentions of it but never found anything concrete. Might just be a P3P thing for all I know.

FES is objectively better, but if you get sick of your team using useless skills, P3P tends to give you a less bullshit time.

FES is better but P3P has some good stuff too like better combat, a couple of minor improvements and most of all it's portable so you can play on a trip or in your bed which I think is the comfiest way to experience JRPGs.
