Trails in the sky

So, I've never been too big on jrpgs, but I recieved this gem in the monthly bundle and have played it and its sequel nonstop for a week now.

I'm afraid of the void that'll fill me when I'm done with the second chapter and would like some recommendations on other great jrpgs I've missed out on. Thanks in advance!

Play Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2 afterwards.

Trails of Cold Steel if you need to fill that Trails in the Sky itch right away.
Trails in the Sky 3 comes out this spring.
Trails to Zero's fan translation should be done this year, and the same team's translating Trails to Azure too.

Other JRPGs you should try are the Suikoden games, definitely.

Play xenogears

Growlanser IV, Valkyrie Profile:Lenneth, Fortune summoners

>would like some recommendations on other great jrpgs I've missed out on
Wild Arms, Suikoden, Dark Cloud

Suikoden 1/2 are probably closest match you will ever find if you like politics-focused story with great feeling of adventure and big cast of characters.

Is spring 2017 the new "release" date for 3rd? see you in winter 2018.

can i play cold steel on pc/ps4?

>Tfw still stuck on Growlanser IV's final boss for like months

No, the 3rd game's been out in Japan for a decade now, its translation is finally being finished in the spring. TiTS is awkward because it didn't come to the west until nearly a decade after it came out.

No, you need a PS3 or a Vita unfortunately. I bought a Vita solely for Cold Steel but I was pleasantly surprised to find out it's a JRPG powerhouse with tons of new ones and old classics on it.

CS1 and 2 are PS3/vita only, CS3 is going to be out in Japan on PS4 only later this year maybe.

The first cold steel is on PS Now through ps4 if you want though. not sure about the sequel. q

>would like some recommendations on other great jrpgs I've missed out on.

-Xenogears
-Chrono Trigger
-Xenoblade

1 and 2 are PS3/Vita and the 3rd one is PS4 only

if you dish out the money for a vita you can play the first two cold steel games and probably spend hundreds of more hours on other jrpgs too

The greatest jrpg ever, Chrono Trigger
Suikoden 1+2(don't skip 1, like you wouldn't play SC without playing FC)
Cold Steel 1 and 2
Xenogears
Final Fantasy 6
Final Fantasy 7(not a meme answer, it is actually good)

Th first game is so comfy.
Its unreasonably comfy.

No shit, dickwad. But the original estimated date for 2nd was winter 2015, but it ended up only coming out in late october.

cold steel has best trails girl

This to be honest. Vita is a pretty nice JRPG machine since you get access to a lot of great PS1 and PSP RPGs through PSN and the Vita itself has a very nice selection available. For instance the Vita can play the first ten Final Fantasy games in some capacity.

...

calvard when

Grandia 1-2
Lunar 1-2
Chrono Trigger
Suikoden 1-3
Baten Kaitos
Vagrant Story
Skies of Arcadia

you guys forgot to post alfin

Bring on the Thunder God kickers

>Trails to Zero's fan translation should be done this year
That would be nice. The last I heard of it there was a December '16 completion date but that just flew by.

suikoden

I sure do love muh Ys, so should I look into this?

Cold steel is fucking high school battle harem waifubait shit. Don't bother OP.

Then go play the rest of Legend of Heroes, preferably in their original PC 98 pixelwork masterpieces and not the PSP "remakes" that are done by industry 1st years.

Two completely different games.

Ys (atleast before the two more recent ones) focused on fast and brutal action gameplay over a deep involved story.

Tales kinda has shit gameplay, with a very involved storyline.

And if you do play the PSP ones, keep in mind that the first PSP game is actually 2, and the one they call 2 is actually 1.

Because retardation.

Is 2 the prequel?

I beat both Trails in the Sky and I was unimpressed. Shit was boring as fuck.

Cold Steel was way more entertaining.

Because you have shit taste

The music is the only thing at which Cold Steel is better than any other game in the series. It's incredible how the first game manages to be even slower and less interesting than FC, a JRPG that was slow paced for its time released in 2004, the premise of which is literally running errands for people across a continent

They suck, though.

no u
LOH III is legit feel-good adventure, well, technically a pilgrimage, that can hang in the likes of Grandia and Skies of Arcadia.

The assclown who was running it basically just disappeared and left the project for dead, but the remnants of what he left have been picked up by essentially the 3 biggest kiseki fans in the west so when they finally get it out you can be sure it's gonna be a good job.

Once you exhausted all the Legend of Heroes games, it goes downhill from there. Unless you play the jrpgs from the golden days. Its just not the same.

But personal 5 is better than cold steel

dumb phoneposter

Yeah, because cold steel sucked

or because tits isn't very compelling overall.. it has its high points but most of it is low points and repetition
