Is Xenoblade a RPG?
If so, is it a JRPG or WRPG?

Its a JRPG obviously.
JRPG
Not OP, but I missed Xenoblade when it was in the stores for the wii. Should I just emulate the wii version or is there anything extra in the 3DS version?
It's kinda like WoW and FFXII
It's a duck.
Should I play Xenoblade Chronicles on 3DS or Wii (Dolphin)?
I have my N3DS with me at school, but I know that port is somewhat inferior to the Wii version. However, both my Wii and gaming desktop are at home. Is it a substantially better experience that's worth waiting for?
I've decided that Xenoblade will be my first JRPG.
only extra things are a sound tester and model viewer. Just emulate it, Bionis and Mechonis aren't done justice on a tiny screen.
I highly recommend playing the game with the HD texture pack on Dolphin. It's too mushy on Wii and 3DS and looks incredible on an emulator, but I'd still recommend getting it for a system before emulating it to show support.

Preferably Wii, but the 3DS version is fine too if you're going to be playing out of the house for the majority of the game.
I would honestly recommend emulating the game using some post-processing and the HD texture pack. HD textures and AO do wonders to this game.
mmo
Alright, guess I'll go the emulator route then.
Good choice amigo. Personally I use an Ishiruuka build of Dolphin when emulating Xenoblade since that allows the use of post-processing, unless Dolphin changed at some point and has those features built in I'd recommend the same.
If you own a New 3DS and don't buy this game, you're basically wasting your money and should have stuck with O3DS.
Every 3DS can be hacked, though.
Maybe new 3DS was his first 3DS?
Even so, it costs more to get N3DS than O3DS.
No point in owning N3DS is you don't reap any of the exclusives
>Hyrule Warriors Legends
>Xenoblade 3D
>Binding of Isaac Rebirth
>Better textures, shadows, FPS and load times in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Pokemon SM also run significantly better on N3DS.
Is that confirmed? I could do a side by side comparison quite easily to see for myself, but I wanna know if ti's a confirmed fact from somebody like the devs of digitalfoundry
>Xenoblade Chronicles > Xenoblade Chronicles X > Xenoblade 2
What did they mean by this
Hyrule Warriors Legends isn't exclusive but it doesn't run as much ass as in O3DS
I didn't notice any difference
Well I know double battles run much better on my friends N3DS than they do on my O3DS
X is a spinoff
2 is a sequel
this isn't a difficult concept
It runs like complete shit on O3DS but N3DS runs it fucking perfectly so long as you leave 3D off.
It's only not exclusive because the devs wanted to fuck over some uninformed consumers.
It does seem to run a bit better at least. Double battles run like shit regardless of the system but it's a little bit better on N3DS. Boot time when playing on O3DS is much longer due to having to do some shit with RAM allocation or something (I think).
jrpg is not a genre.
Oh okay. So the typical boot time thing remains and there's minor gains elsewhere. I see.
Nothing significant.
It's a The-Best-game-ever-made-RPG.
New genre.
Pretty much aye.

This video explains it better than I could.
Japan hated X but we're talking about Takahashi and Xeno series, play Xenogears and read Perfect Works.
>tfw due to the negative feedback of X they are playing it safe and going back to the fantasy setting over the sci-fi setting
Play it on Dolphin, but don't listen to the guy saying to play with the "HD textures."
Play with vanilla textures, the original work done by Monolith is superior even if it was originally meant for the Wii.
I'm sure it's basically the same thing as what we saw with Smash Bros. My N3DS boots Smash super quickly.
X is an ACTUAL Xeno game. The first Xenoblade is actually a game called Monado: Beginning of the World. Xenoblade 2 is basically Monado 2.
The only reason they changed the title is to pay homage to the guy in charge of the Xeno series. It otherwise is not a Xeno game at all.
xeno is just his brand, its not a franchise
xeno in front of something just means "yeah I did that"
It pretty much is actually.
To be fair the lore and ending bits expecially kinda of ties in perfectly with the whole xeno series themes
There is that, too.
It doesn't change the fact that Monado was very different from the rest of the Xeno games and that Xenoblade X was much more in line with them.
When I use the HD textures the game stutters a lot.
What do?
Computer specs mi amigo?
Graphics > Advanced > Prefetch textures
If you don't have at least 16 gigs of RAM, don't even bother
I run Xenoblade and HD textures with 8GB RAM just fine though.
>The first Xenoblade is actually a game called Monado: Beginning of the World.
Its actually not, because they officially changed the title.
Going by your stupid logic, Paper Mario is not actually Paper Mario but instead Super Mario RPG 2.
>X is an ACTUAL Xeno game.
Gears and Saga weren't about Murricans rescuing everyone in space with knock-off Linkin Park.
>Paper Mario is not actually Paper Mario but instead Super Mario RPG 2.
Technically...
Japanese or britbong voices?
So far it doesn't make a difference to me so I've been using English, but I don't want to regret it later on. I only just reached Gaur plains.
Britbong voices are great
Most people like the dub better.
Britbong voices are fucking top-notch my man. Shulk's "I'll kill you" at the start really should've answered that. This aint no Burger dub where half the VAs phone their lines in.
Go all in on british.
Japanese sounds like a typical anime so if you can't get into the story atleast it is a bit more bearable with voices that don't make you want to shoot yourself
If it has the buttons for the PlayStation controller on the screen, can I choose to have the butoons for the Xbox controller on screen?
thanks fampai
Dunban and Reyn's English voices fit them better than Japanese, full stop. I would argue that they're downright iconic by this point.
this
>this
There should be a folder in the textures folder with some optional files, have a look in there?
Is the 3DS version that much worse?
I can either play on my N3DS or emulate on my PC, but I much prefer to play on the go.
>There most likely won't be a Xenoblade Chronicles HD on the Switch
Not really. The performance is a bit shakier but still acceptable and the visuals are a bit downgraded but otherwise it's the same experience. Emulating on PC with HD textures and some post-processing (SSAO) does improve the game quite a lot though.
Yes
I know it isn't the same but we could also get it through Virtual Console? It'd be something I guess?
Rewatched that scene and fuck me Xenoblade is such a phenomenally well directed game. Music, voice acting, visual direction are all superb.
Okay, looks like it was the internet hyperbole shitting on it as usual then. I'll go with the N3DS version. Thanks friend.
Fuck that looks so much high res compared to when I played it on Wii.
Wii U already has the Wii version on VC
I never really understood this
How does it expect you to ever fight enemies like that when there's no postgame?
Xenoblade Chronicles IS on the virtual console, but they didn't upscale it or anything so it still has an abysmal resolution.
>Amazing art direction
>Vast, rich world
>Vivid colors
>All ruined by the limitations of the Wii and its poor resolution
>Port it to the fucking 3DS of all things
I know but I'm saying they'll probably just put the Wii version onto Switch's VC. Xenoblade HD would be goat as fuck though. Imagine the OST being remastered with live performances?
I wasn't being clear. I meant to state this: I apologise for being a doof.
Xenoblade series will be fantasy
xenoblade X series will be sci-fi
they'll converge in the end because Takahashi
Probably because New Game+, dingus.
Not to mention you can potentially beat the strongest enemy in the entire game at level 53.
Thats why you play it on PC at 4k.
Did they really hate it?
WHAT A BUNCHA
