Dishonored 2

This game is just as fun and harder than Thief 1 or 2. It's a perfect new game for those that want more of Thief and want to try something other than fan missions.

I agree

>dishonored
>hard
Wut, the whole game is aimed to make you feel overpowered which contradicts the point of being a stealth game.

The only reason you use stealth is to avoid the bad ending it isn't because you feel weak and powerless like you're supposed to in traditional stealth games.

I thought the same thing until the level with all of the witches.
It's not the hardest game though for the most part, but it's still good.

Will this ever go on sale for less than $40?

OP is right in that, on the hardest difficulty, it's a considerably harder game than any Thief game.

And that's not even taking into account you going hardest with No-Marked.

>That fucking conservatory

I liked this game.

>Garretts voice for Corvo
My dick

It's pretty hard with no powers.

Have you played the game?

Because it's not strictly a stealth game. You can chose to play it however you want to.

I hate the fact that Corvo/Emily comment on literally everything and don't let me figure things out myself.

Voiced protagonists were a mistake.

is it as good as the first one? i just started playing and really enjoy it so far

It's better

It's better.
Don't forget to play the Daud DLCs before you move on to the second. The Trials of Dunwall stuff, on the other hand, is optional.

Bit disappointed there was no mine level with all the mentions of the mines

thanks anons. is it harder though? at some parts i find myself bruteforcing through and just killing everyone

Gameplay is objectively better.

Atmosphere and setting are a lot worse though if you ask me. Karnaca doesn't have that dystopian/apocalyptic/pessimistic feel Dunwall had.

It is. The Daud DLCs will give you a pretty good insight into how much harder it gets.

Can I pirate this yet?

Better level design (although the interesting randomly generated level suffers from all the same gripes as Lady Boyle's Party - in my run the first set of guards loudly stated where the target was).

Shorter, worse plot, performance issues.

Personally I like it more than the original, but it feels more like an expansion than a sequel. It adds little but refines a lot.

Shadow walk is broken as fuck

Domino is even worse.

it was for $32.5 on bundlestars for a while.

great game if it was possible to mute Emily

I wish this game was more like Thief honestly, or that there would be a Thief difficulty setting.

The amount of guards in every building is just ridiculous, there are three of them watching every broom closet, which is making stealth gameplay really tedious.

when in Dishonored 1 was it ever said that Corvo was Emily's father? and why does EVERYONE seem to know about it? I mean, even if it is true, wouldn't it be shameful to disclose that info? That practically makes the queen a slut who fucked her bodyguard.

>when in Dishonored 1 was it ever said that Corvo was Emily's father?

LITERALLY OVER AND OVER YOU DENSE MOTHERFUCKER

refresh my memory with one example (that isn't some 10 pages tldr note you found in a random bathroom).

playing corvo first, what does shadow walk do?

Its in one of pendletons record things in the inn iirc

low chaos final level has a text document and emilys drawing calling corvo daddy

It was heavilly heavilly brick in your face implied that Corvo was her father. Jessamine's hidden room in Dunwall tower pretty much sealed the deal. In 2 they just come out and say it because its the worst kept open secret.

You become a shadow, harder to spot and it allows you to incapacitate or kill any one human outright before it ends

Emily becomes a hard to see shadow on the ground and can do a unique assassination or knockout from that form

oh, so kinda like "Morphine Mode" in Velvet Assassin.

>when in Dishonored 1 was it ever said that Corvo was Emily's father?
Heavily implied multiple times, jst like it was heavily implied Corvo and Jessamine are lovers.

>and why does EVERYONE seem to know about it?
Everyone suspected Corvo and Jessamine are lovers. In the high chaos version of the final mission Treavor literally says "everyone knows you were screwing the empress".

Also he treats Emily like his daughter in public and when she makes a drawing of Corvo it's signed "daddy".

> I mean, even if it is true, wouldn't it be shameful to disclose that info?
She's an empress, she can fuck whoever the fuck she wants.

>That practically makes the queen a slut who fucked her bodyguard.
She didn't have anyone else.

>wouldn't it be shameful to disclose that info? That practically makes the queen a slut who fucked her bodyguard.

They have 2 reasons around it:

1) Jessemine was the first emperor/empress to get shit done in generations. She was already beloved by people, screwing a commoner would have made her more popular if anything.
2) The writers made up some bullshit "no rules apply during new year's eve or something" loophole; I think I saw somewhere that Corvo knocked her up during this time so there wasn't any retribution.

>makes the queen a slut
Or makes her a devoted lover, who maintained her relationship with her love over random noble suitors.

Reminder that the Dishonored writers came up with The Purgue before The Purgue did. Although I'm sure it's been done before elsewhere as well

They also made Corvo's character a bit weaker. I liked him more as the mute assassin than "Older Garrett"

I was sort of hoping that you could switch between Corvo and Emily in missions or something along those lines. I'm doing the Corvo route now and I'm not sure how Emily is supposed to grow as a proper leader if she spends the entire game stuck as a rock.

I played on hard assuming I was good because I had played the first one. Holy shit the detection of the guards...

How would you guys rate this game compared to other stealth games?

>They also made Corvo's character a bit weaker

But he had none in the first place, he was a silent protagonist i.e. a cipher for the player. How does taking that and turning it into an actual character make it weaker?

He was cool as someone who barely ever spoke words and made everyone shit themselves at the sight of him. They explored that real well in the Daud DLC.

I somewhat agree with this.
I barely use any powers except far reach and I'm just walking around knocking out every guard and I'm getting ghost and non lethal on almost all missions. I have about 25h played though, and I have yet to finish it.
Definitely my GOTY.

Yeah same thing.
I hopped in hard thinking the game would be easy, but it's much easier to be detected, it's rather impressive at first honestly.

He could still speak to people in terms of text. I think I can understand where you're coming from though, Corvo was more intimidating in Dishonored.

>? That practically makes the queen a slut
It sure is slutty to fuck one guy.

fucking your bodyguard is unseemly for a woman of her stature

Knocking out gaurds isn't ghosting I'm pretty sure. I so far haven't been able to get through a level without getting caught and dying because I'm playing on very hard and I didn't get the right powers for distracting gaurds.

(2u)^2

Really? I might be wrong but I think I think it says ghost at the end of the missions if you're never detected.

Better than Thi4f

is it still broken on pc?

Yeah, that's why I said barely. I realize he spoke a few times in the dialogue options, and I wouldn't have minded him being voiced and saying some lines like those, but they should have been as frequent as they were in Dishonored 1. Rather than have Corvo be someone who is incredibly chatty and shares his thoughts to himself at all times. They could have given that to Emily and kept Corvo more mysterious.

You're not fooling anyone todd.

How's the performance on PS4?

Really liked the first one and I'd like to try this one out

I might be wrong. Don't worry about it.

I'm not touching this shit until they add mission select, I fucked myself over on my lethal run on the third fucking mission bad I can't restart it

It's good for the most part. Loading screens take alittle while and the frame rate drops occasionally.

F L O P

>first time in the void
>heart confirms daud is still alive
God bless that bastard, though I hate how they spell everything out now, the empress being the heart and corvo being dad being just spelled out really wasn't a good idea

>bodyguard

The Royal Protector is not just a bodyguard.

>"In the capital city of Dunwall, each new Emperor is allowed to appoint a Royal Protector. This is far more than a trusted bodyguard. Much more revered than the hand-chosen guards defending Dunwall Tower or the food tasters, the Royal Protector is a court figure, given enormous latitude, who keeps constant company with the highest ruler in the known world. At the age of twelve, the young monarch participates in the selection process, making the final decision about who will safeguard his or her life." ~ from a book in The Knife of Dunwall

The Royal Protector is a constant companion and the throne's most loyal subject, I'm sure Corvo isn't the first one to have been sleeping with the ruler.

Probably very soon. Bethesda published games usually hit the sales bin relatively quickly. Probably be able to find a lot of used copies, if you're a console player, in the next month with everything else that's coming out.

I more dislike that they made him a murderer in literally the first scene after I painstakingly upgraded the sleep dart rendering everything else utterly pointless.

Todd makes shit open world trash games, don't compare him to Harvey.

My first playthrough, I went in blind on very hard without HUD and I got my ass kicked.
I played a lot of Dishonored 1 on Xbox, PS3 and PC mostly and I was really suprised at how they really turned up the difficulty. I turned on HUD and then went to medium, had a few small things off. A lot of people said they had trouble with the conservatory, even with hard and no HUD, i've found it quite a breeze.

What i've heard, No Powers, Very hard, No HUD, Ghost and Merciful with Corvo is the hardest way to play. I can see why Corvo could be slightly harder then Emily, Emily has a few abilities that can either make sneaking much easier or can make an area of guards much easier to dispose of. Corvo can only use possesion and bend time to really pass a large group like the area in Edge of The World near the Overseers or the Good Doctor's Salon area.

Pretty much identically to how DS1 plays on the PS3. 25FPS half the time with occasional slowdown.

Which is then super jarring when you go back to the Definitive Edition and everything is running at a silky smooth 60.

Emily>Non-lethal stealth
Corvo>Lethal stealth

I'll wait for a sale then, ty

>No Powers, Very hard, No HUD, Ghost and Merciful with Corvo is the hardest way to play
>No Powers
>Proceeds to discuss powers

> No HUD
That isn't really hard, it's just annoying since you don't know when to heal/eat.

>mfw sneaking around and hear the heartbeat
Every time it happens it feels like a small bomb goes off

>That fucking hospital and the doctor
Really didn't expect that shit

CRACK WHEN/WHERE?

It's a really geat game.
I keep discovering new path in missions... Can't wait for the advanced difficulty settings.

I'm guessing within 2-4 months

Should I capture the one of the two guys in the dust district or get through jindosh's lock?

going by other denuvo releases, probably after it's:
-stable
-confirmed no more dlcs to be released.

Is non-lethal low chaos still boring as hell to play, or can I run around knocking people out with fancy abilities?

Get Durante's key and unlock the objective where you put both of them in coffins.

You get the Jindosh combination this way too.

It's still pretty boring but you can actually fight back now.

You can knock out people from everywhere now
>slide
>behind
>combat
>air
>frauds shock mines
>dark messiah kick them at walls

You can knock people out in combat now and there are multiple skills and weapons to pacify enemies once notified.

Why is Emily so terrible?

It's a little bit more varied now. For example there this non lethal mine you can stick on to things, and if you upgrade it enough it'll knock down uo to 3-4 people. You can use doppelgänger and stick it on to her while using domino to link multiple people together. So when it gets close to any hostiles it can knock down around 3-4 people along with the others you link to them. I haven't tried this yet but I will.

Psst, hey you. Yes, you.
Thief 1 > Thief 2

I could go either way because they're both fantastic games

Fuck
OFF
Thief 2 > Thief > TDS > T4

BULLSHIT

IT'S BEEN 2 YEARS I NEED CRACK

Silly user, it's only been 2 months

It'll come eventually

...

During Black Friday the PC version was $27 at Best Buy. Physical, but it's just a steam code in a box (Plus a useless disc).
