Great.
They are TRUE video games and the antithesis to the cancerous modern game.
Fantastic.
I missed them so badly.
'S okay.
I swear to Christ, Donkey Kong better be the mayor of New Donk City. I want my ape in a suit, damnit.
It's a nice break from the browns and grey shooters.
Take me down to New Donk City
Where the monkeys are Kongs
And the bananas are cheap
oh boy, the only two that we're getting for the next 8 years
Very happy
We need a sequel to this
I'm pumped, I never would have imagined this could happen. And in a single year at that.
I'm not very picky when it comes to sandbox platformers so as long as they're playable I'll probably enjoy them a lot.
I hope Donkey Kong is next, with issues from DK64 smoothed out.
Agree. DKCR got a little stale. Retro said they'd consider a 3D DKC, just hope they actually make it.
Where's my fucking Sonic adventure 3?
What's cool is that so far there's no overlap in level archetypes between the two games.
>Yooka-Laylee
Birch Forest, Library/Factory, Jungle, Ice, Casino
>Super Mario Odyssey
City, Latin American Desert, Temperate Rainforest, Food
they hold up surprisingly well. 64, sunshine, and BK are still great fun.
so, looking forward to it
pretty happy. im making one myself
People are going to remember that 3D platformers aren't very fun. The only ones that are remotely good are the Mario ones but even then the 2D games are far superior.
Nostalgia aside, tell me that Donkey Kong 64 is a great game with a straight face. You can't.
Elaborate ;)
>DK64 is bad so all 3d platformers are bad
I can't agree. I replayed 64, sunshine, and Banjo recently and had great fun with all 3.
Of course the shitty ones are a slog, but that's because they're bad games. Not because the genre is inherently shit.
Yeah I hate fake video games ! All games should be variations of mario
No, fuck that game
me too user
I think the appeal of 3D platformers is still in DK64, it's just behind a lot of bullshit that shouldn't be in the game. If a lot of that was sanded out and the game as a whole was polished, I think it'd be fun.
>DK64 is bad
in hell where it belongs
>remember that user who said he was making an on-rails shooter ala SF64
>heard nothing since
sadimage.jpg
gives me gas
>BK, Mario, DK64, Crash, Jak & Daxter
Everyone talks about these, but what are some good, lesser known 3D platformers?
That would be great if they cut out about half of the shit you need to collect.
Tonic Trouble and Rocket: Robot on Wheels.
he probably was using unity
Don't forget Spyro.
Too bad we'll never get another Conker game :(
space station silicon valley
brave fenser musashi
jumping flash
What happened with that abomination? I don't recall that Xbox VR ever coming out to begin with.
How do you feel about the resurgence of my penis on your mom asshole?
Missing the point. Everyone knows about spyro bruv
The fucking hat eyes completely ruined everything.
Like, was it really necessary for them to suddenly make Mario's hat sentient?
It would be like giving Sonic's shoes a pair of eyes: it's fucking retarded.
I have no idea. Between that and project spark I don't think Microsoft knows what to do with the IP.
Microsoft doesn't seem to know what to do with anything.
It's just the justification for why the hat can levitate and act as a boomerang now. You won't see it in gameplay, and it's no different from the baby luma in Galaxy.
Not enough are, sadly.
Most of them are variations of Gears of War or CoD with a prioritized narratives.
Dying Light
Breddy gud. Been smashing out the Ratchet and Clank games lately to try get my fix but they don't entirely scratch the itch.
Yeah, I get all that, but it still pisses me off; I fucking hate how much it pisses me off because I feel like an autist
It just feels lazier, like they couldn't think of a good reason for implementing a new game mechanic (other than just doing the sane thing and just implementing it)
Not to mention, the baby Luma nor FLUDD took center stage as "the new side kick!" in the marketing.
It all just screams "we didn't have any creative ideas, but look! Mario's hat can talk and see things now!"
>Rocket: Robot on Wheels
my nigga
I don't really think it appearing for 2 seconds at the very end of the trailer equates "center stage"
It still blows my mind that someone thought that design was a good idea
I'd say Fludd took way more of a center stage than the hat. But we can never know until the game comes out.
The whole thing is seemingly hat-themed, so I think the hat character will end up fitting in fine.
the only good part about Fludd was that hilarious melodramatic "death"
Yes, and?
here's the hub world. you swap and play as different animals

The world looks cool, but I hope you're planning on touching up the animation of the dog.
>2 games
whooahh!!!! im overwhelmed by this resurgence!!!
You've had one IRL for the last 8 years.
we really really don't
Zero to two is a 2∞% increase.
Is that dog traversing at sanic speeds using the power of flatulence? Looking good so far.
...
If they didn't lock everything behind "you can't collect this unless you're this character" it would be GOAT
I just want Psychonauts 2 to be half-decent.
3d zelda and dark souls
...
>Schafer
Good luck, I wouldn't trust the guy to wash my car properly.
Is the main character going to be a dog or an anthropomorphic dog?
I feel good about it
Sonic 06 had all the marks of Adventure 3 except a Chao Garden, I'm sorry to break it to you user but that was it.
According to Izuka, it's somewhere down the line. Project 17 is likely going to be another linear Unleashed clone because it's the only formula that's sold well lately, so don't expect anything else. After Sonic Lost Cause they need a pick-me-up.
If you're desperate for a more open Sonic, you'd best just stick to fangames like Sonic Utopia, or Green Hill Paradise.
Three more months until YL
>2 games
>resurgence
OKAY BRO
These are the words of a person trapped in 2011.
Hololens has been out for like 3 months and so has Young Conker
Is he wrong? 2016 had
>Overwatch shooter
>Dishonoered 2, teleporting stealth shooter
>Titanfall 2 shooter
>Battlefield 1 shooter
>Doom shooter
>Uncharted 4 Third person shooter
>Hitman
>Another Dark Souls
>Watch Dogs 2, third person shooter sandbox
>Tom Clancy, another shooter
>NMS, a shitty "sandbox" shooter
>Mafia III shitty third person sandbox shooter
>Gears of War 4, third person shooter
>Quantum Break Third person shooter
>Far Cry Primal a caveman shooter
A couple other notable games include shit like Xcom 2, Civ VI, the Witness, TLG, or the pokemon games.
You are just triggered because it reminds you of the new Pokédex.
I am too.
Samefag
pretty happy, i just hope theyre not stupidly easy
that said, 10 years ago i was much worse at games so
>of sandbox platformers?
You mean collect-a-thons.
To be honest, they started getting out of hand with games like Banjo-Tooie and DK64, the last good one was probably Jak and Daxter.
I won't know how I feel about it until I actually play the games, but that city level in Mario Odyssey looks like it's leaning way too much toward the collect-a-thon side. Maybe it's just the hub world though.
A Hat in Time and El Lobodestroyo are still happening, I just hope they make the Switch to the Switch like Yooka-Laylee did, or at least get ported to it later.
> not liking collecting stuff
It's just bad on DK64 because of the monkey wall.
literally who of video games.
>he chooses to be annoyed by this
Children born after 2013 are not allowed here.
I like collecting stuff, but it has to have some moderation.
How is dishonored a shooter? Because it has a gun and a crossbow in it? Im pretty sure Civ counts as a shooter as well then, since people shoot at each other in a war
I think pokemon counts as a shooter as well, you know, because of the water "gun" attack
>"You can keep your Banana Hoard" they said.
you must be over 18 to post here
Mario MIGHT be good, but yucky lamey has all the telltale signs of a boring and uninspired game.
Sure El Lobodestroyo is kind of Literally Who but before Yooka Laylee was a thing A Hat in Time was heralded as the beginning of the 3D Platformer renaissance that Yooka Laylee is treated as now, Grant Kirkhope tracks and everything. And Lobodestroyo might have Grant Kirkhope tracks too I don't remember I know Gooseworx is the main composer on that.
While I agree DKC2 is better it's still DKC2>DK64>DKC1=DKC3
HE
dec 1st 1990 u fuckass
>sandbox
Then I no longer gave a shit
Don't forget crash remake too
Is 2017 the return of collectathon platformers? I really damn hope so as they are my fav genre of games.
Mine too. Banjo Threeie maybe?
You're fucking joking right? I thought it was supposed to revolutionize the way we live, why have I heard literally nothing about it since that E3 presentation where they showed off Minecraft?
>Mario Odyssey on Switch
>Crash 1-3 Remakes on PS4
>Yooka Laylee on all Systems
>A Hat in Time on PC and Wii U
Feels good man
I doubt it considering the old Rare staff are all off at Playtonic now and well... Just look at what they did with Banjo's Pal Conker, I fear anything Microsoft would do now would be worse than Nuts and Bolts.
Rare didn't make Conker or even approve its development. It was made by some French company.
It would be funny if you enjoyed minish cap
>Anything with a gun is just a shitty shooter! Modern gaming is dead save us Nintendo!
Are you stupid
