In the next generation of Nintendo games, you are going to have to
>pay online to do anything with Pokemon (GTS, wonder trade, Battle Spot, trading, etc) >pay online to play the majority of Monster Hunter >pay online to play with non-CPUs in Smash outside of local play >pay online to enjoy Mario Kart after singleplayer outside of local play >pay online to do any of the minor tasks in Animal Crossing >pay online to play Splatoon
If this doesn't sound like a deal breaker to you, it should.
>pay online to play the majority of Monster Hunter This hurts the most. I was really looking forward to Switch MH aswell.
Jaxon Green
Its just a tablet with two controllers. Oh wait its just a windows mini laptop with two controllers
Kayden Richardson
Switch is a local multiplayer system, you can tell this by its design. This is a non-issue for people who don't plan to go online with it, as well as those who see nothing wrong with paying for online access. Only Nintendo haters are whining this much.
Nathaniel Fisher
switch is aimed to >people with money >people with friends and a social life >parents with children
so considering you are just a bunch of filthy neets, how about you SHUT THE FUCK UP? had enough of this fucking threads. keep eating sony shit and go the fuck back to neogaf, you are not welcome on Sup Forums
Luis Wood
>butthurt drones eating shit with a smile Shame on you. this is why consoles are in the sorry state they are in.
Michael Hill
Here comes the NDF.
Jose Cruz
So what? Everyone else is doing it, so why not?
Julian Allen
What about MH? Its online is crucial in order to enjoy the game.
Kayden Garcia
>other people are doing it so it's okay Paid online has never been a good thing. Nintendo has less justification for it though. And they have too many series that have relied on the free online system they've used for ages. Their abysmal online capabilities were always made up by the fact it's free, but not anymore.
Charles Flores
Capcom literally only cares about the Japanese playerbase and they like to play local multiplayer most. That's why MH3U on 3DS didn't even have online.
Andrew Wilson
Meet up IRL and hunt together. Or is the thought of face to face social interaction too much for you neets?
Benjamin Russell
3U on the Wii U, 4U, and Generations all had a thriving online playerbase, it's clearly a big part of it.
Cameron Nguyen
I don't live in Japan.
My friends don't play MH.
Grayson Wood
It's not a Nintendo franchise though. It's not like Capcom can tell Nintendo not to charge for online.
Eli Powell
>It's literally worse when Nintendo does it You don't even know the fucking price shit.
Luke Gray
Then subscribe to the Nintendo online service or stop crying, you're acting as if the next game won't have online at all. If a few dollars a month is too much for you then you picked the wrong hobby.
Brandon Murphy
I can't wait for dauntless to release cause tired of playing mh on console
Robert Murphy
What about Pokemon? You don't like battling or trading Pokemon?
Parker Green
I picked the right hobby up until this cancerous gen.
Leo Jackson
Any price wouldn't justify it. Nintendo's online services have either had poor server quality or unnecessary restrictions or systems in place. Getting a NES/SNES ROM you get to keep for a month before having to get a different one is quite literally worse than what both PS4 and Xbox give. So yes, it is worse when Nintendo does it.
Maybe a drone like you is fine with supporting the cancer of consoles, but I've never bought a console with sub fees and I am not going to start. Especially when Nintendo has no good justification for it.
Cooper Diaz
The problem is that Nintendo is not going to notice the few sales they lose to people like you. You can't effectively boycott something this big. I'm not fine with supporting cancer, but I'm not going PC only when I'm like a single cell of a massive organism that will never be missed either way.
Brayden Edwards
>pay $50 a year for the two online games on the console No thanks
Ryder Gray
are all shitters in Sup Forums poor?
get a fucking job, paid online has been a thing since the first xbox, just accept it
>BWAAAAAAAAAAH I DESERVE A SHIT FREE ONLINE MODE
maybe that's why we got fucked with friend codes and shit
get a job you fuckers, most of you dont complain when you had to pay 60 bucks a year to get ass raped with anri's straight sword for the 999999th time
Asher Adams
I don't care if they notice. It's still a major problem and should be a deal breaker for anyone who isn't blinded by brand loyalty.
Andrew Ross
>this post It's Sony fans all over again You're no better than them
Jose Thompson
I'm pretty sure they were referring to the general social networking services available. paid online isn't required for actual multiplayer play, you should still be able to access all in-game online features.
Isaiah Brown
>that post
in reality i never gave a flying fuck about paid online because of ONE important reason
IM NOT POOR
Carter Martinez
There's literally no reason why a console should charge you to use your internet on their servers and essentially make you pay for your internet twice, poor or not.
>hurr but MMOs do it Microsoft started the trend with Xbox, it's also not the same thing in the first place
Dumb Nintendrone
Leo Lopez
>sonynoggers are a single conscious entity
Parker Ward
This. See, I recognize that it's a shitty business practice. I don't like that any of them are charging for what should be free because they can. But it's also not this major fucking issue some of you faggots make it out to be. It'd be one thing if was like 60 bucks a month instead of 60 bucks a year, then I'd understand all the pissing and moaning about it.
Grayson Phillips
Two things, user: >The paid online on Xbox was worse than the free online on PS3 >Decent servers don't cost enough to justify having to pay $60 a year You're being nickel and dimed and you don't even notice.
Jackson Morgan
If you can't afford to pay for online, then you can't afford a Switch in the first place.
Cameron Davis
Don't forget that you half to pay 110 for a controller and 70 for the pro controller
Angel White
Why is it only not okay to have to pay for online when Nintendo does it? Makes you think.
Benjamin Evans
Why do Nintendrones have to resort to deflecting and assumptions that people support it on other consoles? Makes you think.
Dominic Brooks
excuse me for not knowing shit about bad quality consoles with terrible games that do not justify a literal waste of money
Exactly, it's not the best of all situations but these niggers need to calm their tits about it, it's a standard practice nowdays.
>calling me a drone
i've owned every relevant console in the past 20 years and i can tell you something;
adapt.
It's no fair to complain about paid online in a console that has not even been released yet when you get a dick stuck up your throat with the other consoles too
just fuck you, shitter
Luke Young
>The paid online on Xbox was worse than the free online on PS3
No one who has any common sense would say this is true.
Anthony Reed
>adapt You mean let more and more bullshit slide on consoles because you people don't ever do anything.
Microsoft tried to make a sub fee for Games for Windows Live, the reception was so poor they had to get rid of it.
Valve tried to put a pricetag on video game mods, the negative feedback made them have to stop trying.
This is the key difference between PC and consoles.
>when you get a dick stuck up your throat with the other consoles too That implies I bought any of this gen's trash consoles
Kayden Diaz
>You mean let more and more bullshit slide on consoles because you people don't ever do anything.
You just proved you dont understand how this shit works
the cruel reality is that players like us are the 1%
we're the niche market
normies and casuals will chew this shit up, therefore, for Nintendo, their diarrhea business practices are ok and completely acceptable.
therefore; adapt.
Also, i have a gaming PC. Valve is above all other companies despite being shitted on by lots of autistic fuckers
Nathaniel Fisher
>Therefore, adapt
No. I'll continue to not buy any console that does this kind of shit. It's not about getting noticed, it's purely about not lapping up any shit like the majority of this board has been doing since the Switch reveal.
Lucas Kelly
Many bitched when Sony did it, and announced it in such a hypocritical way (during a youtube video blasting Microsoft for shitty business practices). They stopped when it became clear it's a losjng battle. Face it, paying for p2p online is the norm on consoles, Nintendo would be stupid not to join in. Most people complaining will still buy the system and subscribe like good drones.
Jackson Smith
Paid online subscriptions are literally cancer, and I'm surprised and disappointed that Nintendo is adopting such an anti-consumer policy. With that said, I'll probably be be signing up for the service, albeit begrudgingly. I continue to support Nintendo's products because unlike their competitors, I can trust them to put out polished, high quality titles on a decently consistent basis. I can't think of any Playstation games I'd even be tempted to give my money to for access to online multiplayer, but Splatoon, Mario Kart and Smash? Plus any other 3rd party franchise that's buddy-buddy with the company, like MonHun? It's definitely the least of three evils.
Austin Morris
How is providing a better online experience for such a low cost anti-consumer?
Grayson Cook
>Only Nintendo haters are whining this much.
That's right, guys. Shut up and eat Nintendo's shit like good little drones.
Jace Martin
>implying PSN improved post-fee >implying Nintendo's online will get any better
Parker Davis
>IM NOT POOR
Neither am I. I just don't enjoy paying for terrible shit.
Oliver Lee
Proof that Sonyggers are just starting flame wars.
Why else would you be in this thread? Are you intimidated by Nintendo?
Austin Edwards
>The paid online on Xbox was worse than the free online on PS3 That's just false.
Matthew Anderson
how can you know it's terrible shit when you literally dont know shit about it
fucking kids, christ
Mason Taylor
It's true though. PS3's online was decent enough for being free. I didn't need the Live shit attached to a fee.
Matthew Howard
>if you don't support Nintendo, you're a Sonygger! This is the greatest fallacy of 2017 I don't have a PS4, coincidentally for things it did that the Switch is going to do
Evan Sanders
Now that it is a paid service, there will be more quality, or they will have to compensate.
You win either way.
Tyler Cooper
>normies and casuals will chew this shit up
Nah, they have smartphones and tablets now. Absolutely no reason for a normie to buy a Switch over a PS4 or Xbone.
Tyler Diaz
>implying PSN improved post-fee It did though.
Carson Ramirez
>there will be more quality Tell that to PSN, which still goes down every month and didn't get better than it was before >or they will have to compensate. Their "compensation" is an old ROM you get to keep for a month before losing it
No, it didn't.
Charles Scott
>how can you know it's terrible shit when you literally dont know shit about it
Did you miss the presentation and the Treehouse stream?
Josiah Cook
It's anti-consumer because I don't believe for one second that they need the money to make it happen. This isn't a case of some Japanese suits at a table saying "If we just had a little more, we could really give them the experience they deserve!". This is them saying "Holy shit, what if we locked online play behind a paywall? Do you think they'd actually pay us for that?".
Playing with your friends for free is an expectation. It's not a privilege. Even if Nintendo's online features stop being total shit on Switch, it STILL shouldn't be something you have to pay for. It's just greedy and all around BS.
fuck you and your retarded """"""""""""""""""""""""LOGIC""""""""""""""""""""""""
Christopher Thompson
...
Josiah Barnes
>and I'm surprised and disappointed that Nintendo is adopting such an anti-consumer policy. disappointed yes, but not surprised
these are the people that would bind digital purchases to the system instead of the account and wouldn't include a fucking charger with some 3dS models because "we don't want the 2 % of you who own the other model already to have the inconvenience of having to have an extra charger laying around :^) "
Eli Thompson
Being "decent enough" doesn't make it better, and the fact you had to qualify it like that is pretty telling. LIVE was undoubtedly better than PSN during that generation.
Jace Jones
PSN is no better once they erected the paywall. Hell, when paying was optional they provided better benefits to the user. Only a naive fool would think your payment is going into providing a better service.
Kayden Bell
>WHY ISN'T NINTENDO MORE LIKE SONY AND MICROSOFT >okay faggots we're doing paid online now you seem to love that shit since you keep paying for it >WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO WHY DID YOU DO THAT
Dominic Hernandez
Except they can't play the latest Nintendo games on their mobile devices. For the average consumer who doesn't obsess over hardware specs, they actually have more reason to buy Switch over the competition.
Ian Anderson
I think those are just examples of Nintendo's long running history with unbelievably retarded decision making. I love'em, but they can be almost cosmically oblivious. An online subscription service, however, is something I have zero tolerance for. It's just a middle finger to the consumer, for no greater reason than "We want more of your money". Inexcusable.
Parker Hall
>If this doesn't sound like a deal breaker to you, it should. Great concern trolling, user. But the time to fight over paid online was when Xbox Live came out, it's ten years too late now. Xcucks didn't fight for free online, Sonyniggers didn't fight for free online. Instead, you bragged about it, you mocked nintendo fans for being poorfags who didn't even get "muh superior online". That expression you see on the faces of nintendo fans? It's resignation.
Michael Flores
I never even did any of that shit. If I wanted online gameplay, I'd use my PC. It sucks for the people who use online features, but it has no effect on me at all
Julian Edwards
I don't see Masuda letting Pokemon require paid online, he'd keep that free
The rest is all accurate, but I don't play anything but Pokemon online to begin with on any of my systems
Luke Reyes
Can we get a nintendo version of this image?
John Wright
so far most Nintendo people seem pretty upset with it.
Liam Gomez
No, you hope Pokemon is the exception when deep down you know the only exceptions will be MMORPGs and other similar games.
Lincoln Stewart
>tfw idort having to pay 4 times for internet hurts
Caleb Flores
surely you don't pay for Xbone or PS+ when the same games are on PC for free?
Noah Peterson
I really don't care about the paid online, I'm not poor or some NEET. Only thing I dislike is there is no DPAD.
I was hoping to buy this before going on a few business trips and playing this on a train and plane seemed like a fun thing to do. Figured I could bust out some super mario maker expert runs. But nah this thing is fucked on Arrival.
Gavin Johnson
you still have to pay for online to play games that are not on pc
Ian Cox
what fucking games that aren't on PC are worth paying $50 a year for
Xbone has shit PS4 has the same shit
Bloodborne is literally the only multiplayer game I can think of that defies this.
Parker Johnson
I mean as shitty as XBL and PSN are you at least get free games when you pay for them.
I guarantee you wont be getting shit from Nintendo. Their servers probably wont even improve.
And at least with my Xbone I can jew out my friend by exploiting the whole xbox home console thing.
Carter Williams
Out of all those, splatoon for me is the only one that matters, i dont give a fuck about those other shit games
Parker Green
>b-b-b-but S-s-SONEY!!
Every time.
Eli Turner
stop fucking complaining about it and just pay for it you little entitled fuck
Thomas Adams
>Except they can't play the latest Nintendo games on their mobile devices.
Normies don't give a fuck about Nintendo games apart from Mario, which they played on their iPhones. They don't buy consoles for Mario games. They buy them for Fifa and CoD.
Charles Brooks
Kill yourself
Samuel Bennett
no way fuck that. The consoles have no games that have the longevity to justify $60 a year. If they do 90% of the time those games are on PC as well.
Well they did massively rework their online services between Wii U and Switch as well as handing over the entirety of their online architecture over to DeNA to handle.
Brody Sanders
Also 3d mario game ripoffs are coming to mobile anyway and control pretty fucking well
Isaac Kelly
Didn't know that. It's a start to say the least.
Ryan Brown
no they aren't
Julian Evans
The government is going to charge you 5 dollars a month or you can't go above forth gear on your car. You bought it, but hey, it's only five bucks right?!
It's basicallly the whole reason they bought DeNA. Nintendo knows it's way behind XBL and PSN but they don't have anyone in the company who knows how to play catch-up, so they're hiring someone to help them.
Whether or not DeNA does a good job is another thing, we haven't seen what the new services are like.
Brandon Campbell
Even though I think the switch is overpriced and Nintendo is being a cunt with the controllers I hope they exceed expectations.
Ethan Lee
oh man that totally doesn't look like shit
wait.
>those movements That's literally the Mario Galaxy 3D Model with a skin, isn't it?
Aaron Ortiz
The Switch is as cheap as it could possibly be for what it offers. The people who were hoping for 250 don't really get how fucking expensive tech gets when it goes portable.
Aaron Peterson
Custom character controller as far as I know, still in alpha I'm talking about 70 dollar pro controllers and 50 dollar half controllers
Evan Nguyen
Hopefully the console itself sells well, but few people actually pay for the online service. I really hope they release a survey or something to everyone who tries the free service, and they overwhelmingly say "No, we would not pay for this" when asked.
If lots of people buy the console but don't pay for the service, and games like Splatoon sell fewer copies and have much lower populations online, hopefully Nintendo will get the message.
Jaxon Nguyen
>memespouting when you got BTFO with actual facts
kids nowdays...
Juan Turner
Blame hacking communities for the paid online, most exploits on Nintendo hardware are due to exploiting the internet browser. Let's just hope it's like a $30-$60 yearly subscription.
Jose Cook
>mfw there are people that play games online Why would you do this to yourselves? If you want multiplayer the local experience has always been the way to go.
