Give me one reason this shit isn't going to happen to the Switch?

Give me one reason this shit isn't going to happen to the Switch?
Hell I'm half expecting them to package in the charging dock as damage control before the holidays.

This this should have just been released in the holidays when it's actually ready.

If it happens hopefully early adopters will get games like last time

What did the early Wii U adopters get?

I'm sure every first buyers would be happy to get 1 2 Switch for free

Is 3ds still in production or not? new 3ds xl seems hard to find now and still costs a fuck ton.

>old tech getting sold cheap to make room for newer tech

Woooooah.. that's never happened before... and won't ever happen to every single piece of tech ever made....

But
The dock is already packaged in.

Nigga. Look at the date. That was only a few months after the release of the 3DS

Nope. You gotta buy this if you wanna charge and play. The one packed in is only plastic.

How long do you think it'll be till the Switch gets a price cut?

8 months. Since THERE ARE NO FUCKING GAMES AFTER LAUNCH TIL CHRISTMAS

You dont need to charge the joycons while playing because their charge lasts 20 hours.

>want to play because you forgot to charge them the night before, or haven't touched it for a few weeks
>lol you can't play now
Fuck off

I'm starting to worry that Wii U isn't getting a new Metroid, 3D Mario, or Zelda game.

It get a 2.5d Zelda and a cross-platform Zelda but really what the heck man? I'm getting scared.

user ..

>not docking them when the device is not in use
Fuck off

That shit happened a few months after launch of 3ds

>they stop charging after it's fully charged
>power slowly leaks out and when you go to play it again after a few weeks they are already dead.

Happens all the fucking time with my Wii U and PS4 controllers. But those I can play AND charge without buying an extra piece of plastic.

It happened so close after launch that to this day early adopters are the only ones allowed to play GBA games to make up for it

Don't think it happened to the Wii U but 3DS owners got a bunch of GBA and NES games for VC

>Have 6 AAs for the Xbone controller
>Use controller, charge the other 4
>For some reason the charger doesn't detect when the batteries are fully charged
>Batteries die, controller out of juice
>Resort to using the controller wired

T-the future is now, my friends!

Wait Xbone uses AA batteries? What the fuck?

You can buy a battery pack but it is sold separate.

Yeah just like the 360 the wirelesscontrollers dont have rechargeable lithium ion batteries. You either play it with the micro usb attached or buy your own rechargeable battery pack

The only benefit is that you can use whatever batteries you like, resulting in *endles* game time. Also if they had bundled the controller with a battery it would cost more since you need a decent battery because modern controllers have more electronics and parts inside.

See: the DS4 and it's shitty battery.

Believe there was a Club Nintendo promotion where you could get a free digital game after registering a few of your own.

Goddamn why is its replacement so shit?

>See: the DS4 and it's shitty battery.
This is a good argument but the Wii U Pro controller manages to outdo the DS3, which itself lasts over a week gaming 7 days.

The DS4 has the same battery life as the Wii U Pad, only without the big ass touch screen on it. I think Sony just wrapped up some wire and threw a capacitor in and called it a battery. There's no excuse.

I don't know much about the WiiU pro since I don't own one but I'd assume it has less complex circuitry.

This is why literally no one should buy the switch on launch and teach nintendo the usual lesson of trying to sell hardware at a premium.

Hardware should always be sold at a loss and money should be made through software sales, fuck apple for pushing the idea that you should make pure profit off hardware

amazing
free NES games

Wiiu is dead

It won't happen because Sony isn't going to release a handheld to compete with them at the same price and much better specs to where they'd need to.

>trying to sell hardware at a premium.
Like the gamecube???
Like the Wii?
Like the Wii U????

Nintendo sells their shit dirt cheap. The Switch is the same price as any other tablet on the market worth a shit.

Except Zelda, the gamethat Won E3 and will be a better game than anything coming out on the Xbox One or PS4 is launching with it.

The Wii U pro is a gimmicky piece of shit while the DS4 is engineering masterpiece. There's your explanation.

Nah son it should be cheap like the PS4 (399.99) or XB1 (499.99) at launch.

WiiU didn't get a significant price cut, I think it was £300 down to £250 - a price cut of 1/6. 3DS early adopters got 6(?) GBA games and eShop credit I believe.

A compromise like that would be something, yes. Alternatively, a few months of the pain online or something.

Maybe? With the 3DS they acknowledged that cutting your price by more than 1/5 wasn't really on.

b-but its ok when Sonyggers do it?

The 3ds was sold at a premium.
The Wii U was sold at a premium for what it was actually worth specs and hardware wise.
I think the gamecube was too at launch

If it was at least bundled with 1,2 switch and the extra controllers didnt cost 40 quid each for each side I wouldnt feel like I was being raped by nintendo by even thinkjng about giving them my money

Bad analogy, both of those recieved price cuts and the XB1 was recieved horribly and sold like shit and is still not recovering

The WiiU pro has a 70 hour battery life while the DS4 gets maybe 4 hours.

Stop being a defense force and accept nintendo are just as bad as the other two gaming giants

A valuable lesson

The gamecube was £130, Wii was £170 and the WiiU (understandably) was £300 given the tech inside.

So this will never happen because the switch has already sold millions months before release.

>should have been released in the holidays
that's what people were saying in July. Release it holidays 2016 or it'll be too late.

They wanted to release it before the end of the 2016 fiscal year (march). Prease understand.

The WiiU sold out as well.

The problems with the 3DS and WiiU were after their initial shipments, they shit the bed. The WiiU because no gaems and the 3DS because it was far too expensive for the tech inside it. The WiiU was never sold at a lost whereas with the 3DS they took a slight loss (Reggie said in 2012 that they make a profit on a 3DS w/ one game sold)

>Give me one reason this shit isn't going to happen to the Switch?

because it just came out and pre orders are piling up like snow on top of mount everest?

>not just buying a wired controller so you can use it on your PC

>one reason

They're going to basically sell out from release to Christmas.

So systems won't be rotting on shelves, like what happened with the 3DS.

>b-b-but completely made up arbitrary situation that will never happen to anyone!!!

you forget to charge them it's YOUR fault, go die

It happens to every single console you retard.

I think he's pointing out that the 3DS got a significant price cut at 4 months in.

>Wii U

All Sony need to do is make another vita model. Same hardware but smaller and cheaper, and actually make some of their A teams develop games for it.

It would be great and actually provide competition in the handheld space.

It didn't have a 30% price drop after just half a year, so it wasn't relevant to give anyone anything.

>The Wii U was never sold at a loss

That is some interesting historical revisionism you've got going on there.

arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/08/nintendo-wii-u-still-being-sold-at-a-loss/

>Give me one reason this shit isn't going to happen to the Switch?
It's a home console

That all?

They should throw R&D money at a failed handheld in a market that loves handhelds? They should uh...throw their, what, 3 first party developers at it? Yeah that'll work.

I don't trust 3rd party controllers because you can't try some of them before buying them. I bought the xbone controller because it had slight advantages but I still miss the DS3 layout

>he likes the dualshock layout

Whoops typo.

I meant "The WiiU was never sold at a profit"

>Give me one reason this shit isn't going to happen to the Switch?

Because I'm willing to bet the hardware is already being sold for the lowest price they can afford without selling it at a loss. They cut it by that much they'll be losing money on each console sold.

>The WiiU was never sold at a lost

Reggie stated quite clearly at launch that it was indeed sold at a loss, but that the loss would be made back as soon as someone buys one full-priced game.

Day 1 3DS buyer here. I got

Balloon Flight
Donkey Kong Jr.
Ice Climbers
LoZ
Zelda II
Super Mario Bros.
Metroid
Mario Golf
Wrecking Crew
Yoshi

FE Sacred Stones
F-Zero MV
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
Minish Cap
Mario Kart SC
Mario vs Donkey Kong
Metroid Fusion
Warrior Land 4
WarioWare Inc
Yoshi's Island

>one reason

3DS cost around $80-150 for Nintendo to manufacture throughout the years. They could afford to cut prices and not make profit on the hardware. Not the case with the Wii U and Switch.

...

>Battery life is a gimmick

Well there you go

>Not the case
Why? If the system sells well the games will sell well which is where the profit lies anyway

Of course it would get a price cut, they are getting ready to dump product support for it.

I don't understand how this is even news.

>80 hours of battery life vs 5 hours battery life, a touch pad that never gets used and a light that does nothing but drain the battery

Nice "masterpiece".

>This this should have just been released in the holidays when it's actually ready.

It IS ready though. Don't kid yourself. There is no fucking way Arms, Spla2n, MK9 port and possibly even a Smash port which they did not announce, are not complete by this point.

They are just padding it out.

Just get it during next holiday when it will have a substantial library just like everyone else will.

Early adopting is a meme and Nintendo clearly knows it considering how little consoles they are shipping out.

How bad do the GBA games run?

Also goddamn, just goes to show that Nintendo think their back catalogue is HONESTLY worth $5 a pop

They are only going to sell out due to artificial shortages in typical Nintendo fashion, not because they are super desirable. Once everybody who intended to get one, regardless of the presentation, gets one than its sales will sink like a brick thrown over a boat. Its going to suffer the same fate as the Wii U.

We don't know that, though.

Could be it ended up cheaper to produce, but I doubt it with the low volume of orders they placed in 2015, 2015, and 2016.

They have had to order tens of millions to get considerably better prices.

Wii was still at a profit when they lowered it to $150.

>Artificial shortages
>2 million shipped and already accounted for in launch day

you can get 8 core expandable memory phones with oled 1080x1920 screens for like $200 now

probably better then a 3ds, don't need to jailbreak, emulation up to ps2/dreamcast era, better battery, actual OS

>Could be it ended up cheaper to produce, but I doubt it with the low volume of orders they placed in 2015, 2015, and 2016.
That's the thing.

The WiiU shipped 15 million units in 2012, a large enough quantity was shipped back to Nintendo by March 2013 (large enough to offset all sales from December-February and post a minus number in their sales data for the quarter) and this isn't counting the 1 million they produced for WWHD.

My theory is the reason the WiiU never got another price cut, instead opting to reuse stock and push bundled games to maintain the price, is their shareholders would shit themselves if the company had to just write off the initial production costs of the thing. They never recouped that initial investment.

>Wii U meme
Nah. Maybe it won't outperform PS4 and 3ds, but it's still going to sell relatively well, if not as a home console, then as a sole Portable one on the market.

Well, that and obvious Smash/Monhun/Pokemon etc.

Especially Japan. They will be all over this shit.

According to my research done from browsing normie Facbook pages the public looks interested in the console. I'm not sure if they are Nintendo mini interested but they look interested enough to push a few million consoles.

They just need a person to endorse it, people like it when somebody else tells them what to do.

Sony let that ship sail years ago. If they actually cared they never would have stopped developing for it in the first place. Only reason why it's still alive is because they don't spend a dime advertising for it or any of its games, and third party games sell enough to still turn a profit, even in the west.
They actually vetoed different dev teams that wanted to work on Vita games so the different studios weren't the problem with Vita, it was Sony not wanting to throw more good money after bad that did it.

There was no price drop but those that had the console in its early years had the eShop promotion that allowed you to buy another game after purchasing one.

A new Vita model would do NOTHING but give Vita drones in Japan somewhere to go. It's likely not worth the trouble given not even Nintendo can make a handheld work in the west.

Only 2 million? Is that global? Holy shit they are going to be lucky to make pre-orders with a number that low. 2 million sounds like a lot but that is spread out over every walmart, gamestop/ebgames, best buy, staples, future shop, ect. Some will sell out but that is probably because they only got two or three in stock

There's been no indication Pokemon and Monster Hunter will appear on Switch

I expect this thing to sell worse than the Wii U, you can still preorder the thing from stores that only got like 20 of them. Nintendo is seemingly ignoring the people who actually supported them, as if you own a Wii U there's no reason to buy this thing for years.

>Only 2 million
>Only
>For launch day

Wew lad. Enjoy your shitposting.

I had no problems with performance but I'm not exactly picky (and I barely played them).

It felt more like an insult at the time. It fortunately allowed me to sell some old GBA carts to make up for the price cut.

For comparisons sake, the Wii (fastest selling console) shipped 1.5 million

At least when they designed the WiiU pad they had the decency to leave room in there to make it expandable.
Yeah it sucks the WiiU Pad has a small capacity battery as standard (likely to cut costs), but the DS4 battery will always be bad. Not even the chinks could improve it. Theres literally no space for a bigger battery to go into.

BOTW is coming to WiiU

The Wii was out of stock until Xmas or so, but managed 3.2 million in a few months.

It happens to your Wii U and PS4 controllers because after they finished charging you unplugged them you retard. There is no reason to take the joycons off of the switch except to play it. There's no convenience aspect or "just moving things around" that would make you slide the sides off of your system like you might unplug a controller.

>artificial shortages

Sure. Put on the tin foil hat and become impossible to talk to.

1 million ps4's were sold in 24 hours

2 million is not a large amount of consoles to have shipped for launch window

A "thanks for beta testing" card

No, the DS4 is a good controller but the battery life is pathetic. I barely ever play my PS4 and I always have to plug the controller in at some point after just an hour or two. Granted my PS4 sits a foot and a half away from my computer so it's no big deal but if I had a couch and a big TV I would be pissed that I had to keep plugging it in. The battery goes to 2 bars so fucking fast.

PS4 sold 2.1 in 4 months m8

The analogue sticks are pretty terrible, though. No grip whatsoever on them.

>mentioning Wii U as if Early adopters have ever got jack shit

Wii U adopters got a shitty bitch console with no internal memory.

PS4 adopters got "lol here's a new 400 buck console that will run games better than your vanilashit" the moment this fucking thing started actually getting proper exclusives.

Never buy a console at launch.

60GB PS3s and 3ds giving away shitty games are the only examples I can recall and the first one is not as much as a bonus as it is Sony being a bunch of tremendous faggots.

it was actually 1 million sold in just in north america

makes 2 million shipped worldwide not look very confident

>1 million ps4's were sold in 24 hours
And the Switch is getting 2 mil on launch day with extra shipments due by the end of March.

What's the issue?
