Any other WiiUbros here? What do you think of the Switch?
I'll be getting Breath of the Wild for WiiU, then waiting til holidays for that sweet price drop to pick up a Switch. Hopefully they will have a bundle for Super Mario Odyssey.
I guess that's the least Nintendo could do for us, since we'll be buying a new console barely more powerful than the last one and two expansion packs priced like full games.
I'm going to miss the old resistive stylus touchscreen, the new one is gonna suck ass for making Miiverse art in Splatoon. If that's even a feature still.
Jonathan Hill
there ain't gonna be no fucking price drop
Bentley Gutierrez
There might be in 2020.
Levi Wright
Preordered the Switch with Zelda, since having it portable is really convenient, and I want the best version.
I feel like the Switch is was the Wii U was supposed to be, but they didn't have the power to make the gamepad actually mobile. I'll be glad to have a console that actually gets games made for it.
Nathan Brooks
Is the Wii U still fucking $300? In 2014 I was telling myself I'll get one when the price drop comes. Fuck Nintendo.
Jaxson Watson
They might bundle with a game for the same price. Either way, it's a smart move user don't let the shills con you into buying one yet.
Mason Brooks
The Wii U no longer exists in stores, unless I'm wrong. Yes, even at its time of death it remained $300.
Leo Roberts
haha, what's that character next to the games? :p
Ethan Williams
i honestly feel bad for you. i really can't imagine how autistic someone would look if they played that thing in public. have fun hahahahahah
Wyatt Nelson
Listen to this guy. I literally camped outside Nintendo World NYC for ~30hrs to buy Wii U day one, and it most certainly wasn't worth it. This time just gonna wait until it's beefed up with games, then I'll have more money saved too
Jose Cox
I sold my wii u before thanksgivng for $400. I was super psyched for switch. Kept my memory card intact.
I just bought a new wii u for $200 and am gonna hack it. May skip the switch altogether if no full Zelda or Pokemon.
Mario looks neat but not $450 neat.
Gabriel Lee
>check Walmart's website >see this
Jesus Christ, what is going on?
Cooper Sanders
That is kinda my strategy for now as well. I cannot justify dropping such a huge sum down just to play zelda with slightly better graphics or framerate.
Hopefully Nintendo actually learns their lesson from the first few months cause their pro controller costs like 100 in my country.
Connor Jenkins
>launch line-up for Switch is atrocious >only good game is going to be on Wii U too >nothing coming out for first month after launch >MK8D doesn't have a single new track
Guess I'm waiting for Splatoon 2 then. Wew.
Jordan Hill
>Miiverse art Oh user, I didn't want you to find out this way...
Adam Miller
>switch >having the best version of Zelda I bet you think the Wii version of Twilight Princess was better than the GameCube version.
Jaxson Gutierrez
I really wish Super Mario Odyssey would have a Wii U release, that game looks awesome but I'm not about to drop $300 for a console that is in no way a graphical improvement and can handle the same games as evidenced by BoTW.
Nicholas Garcia
I have a WiiU and love it, bought plenty of games and Amiibos and whatnot, but I'm definently going to wait on the Switch.
I want it as soon as possible, but it's absolutely ridiculous to me how badly they're nickle and diming the fans with it.
>Full price for Mario Kart 8 again without any new tracks >Full price for Splatoon 2 which is filled to the brim with reused assets >80$ for another pair of Joycons >70$ for a pro controller >Have to buy the actual useful version of the grip separately >Measly storage space so will have to buy a separate SD card >Even selling the colored wrist straps separately >Paid online
It's ridiculous. I'll sit on it for a while, see what happens. I'll probably break when Mario Odyssey comes out.
Aaron Russell
>sold&shipped by Since Amazon got huge every other online store also lets 3rd party sellers tag along. It's just some shitty little store trying to get rid of their stock without a loss.
Henry Nguyen
>only good game is going to be on Wii U too this is really screwing with my head. what are they thinking?
desu though ARMS looks good, like Splatoon good. It looks like it has potential.
Adam Powell
GC was better on TP because of no waggleshit. Out of the two consoles, Wii U has the meme controller. Switch version is definitive. Get over it.
Adrian Sullivan
>red boxes >spine is still light blue
Disgusting
What was nintendo thinking.
William Davis
They're both tablets with buttons, user.
Juan Gray
Switch only has one screen, you don't use both at the same time. Besides, Aonuma already said he hates the gamepad and it won't have special features in BotW.
Colton Jackson
If you have a Wii U just hack it already and pirate whatever's left to play
Brandon Gomez
How easy is it to emulate old games on Wii U? I get conflicting reports.
Noah Rodriguez
But Switch has meme motion controllers...
Charles Johnson
Okay, but you're not going to have to use waggle shit on either one.
And if the gamepad doesn't have any special features, then what will the difference be?
Jonathan Gutierrez
not for BotW
Luis Davis
Another WiiU Bro i´ll wait for holidays for a Splatoon + Switch bundle, with arms they´re the only games i care on physical and bomberman on digital with the neo geo classics
BTW nice Squid Girls amiibos
Isaiah Flores
>Aonuma with a shit opinion No surprise there Great way to shit on the gamepad for a third and final time with another half passed Zelda
John Watson
>And if the gamepad doesn't have any special features, then what will the difference be? better resolution Switch is 1080p, Wii U is 720p plus its portable let's not pretend the gamepad was any good.
Jose Adams
You still got ARMS user
Isaac Bell
>no D-Pad >shitty analog placement >not the meme controller
Carter Reyes
>I'll be getting Breath of the Wild for WiiU, then waiting til holidays for that sweet price drop to pick up a Switch. Hopefully they will have a bundle for Super Mario Odyssey. that's exactly what I'll be doing. botw any better on switch?
Cameron Taylor
>Switch is 1080p Really? I've been hearing that Zelda is only 900p.
>plus its portable Yeah, for like two hours before the battery dies.
Aiden Parker
>>no D-Pad So? What the fuck did you ever use the Wii U dpad for? >>shitty analog placement wrong
Cameron Wood
it was $250 in 2015 during black Friday but yeah, Nintendo hasn't cut price AT ALL
Jacob Wright
The switch is actually significantly more powerful than the WiiU, and the gap will get wider as they actually start to use the new stuff instead of just running WiiU code on it. But this talk more about on how the WiiU is outdated rather how fast the Switch actually is.
David Hall
I'm pretty sure there is no big graphical difference between the two versions either, besides the Wii's widescreen support. However, Breath of the Wild will almost definitely run smoother and at a higher resolution on Switch. Will it run $300 better? Probably not, but it's something.
Aiden Fisher
>only good game is going to be on Wii U too
Ian Russell
Gamepad is actually amazing when used, keyword is used. Its not like you needed to do a lot to make it useful, a map and some quick access buttons was all most games needed
Dylan Thomas
Well, its a catch here. If you run the Switch at 1080p, it gets roughly the same frame rate hitches as the WiiU, as in the mario kart 8 deluxe runs at 1080p/60 except with frame rate drops on very similar situations where the frame rate drops on the WiiU.
Zelda on other hand performs a LOT better in 900p than WiiU at 720p, which means nintendo decided to trade some screen resolution for better performance.
Ayden Morgan
Bomberman is physical too.
James Morales
I'm just surprised Konami actually made a game.
Leo Powell
it started at 350 though. and 3ds had a pricedrop too. they will make a bundle first though
Michael Richardson
yeah im also waiting till christmas its a shame switch zelda isn't a significant improvement over wiiu
Camden Harris
Apparently, there is a "gem system" on the game that implies it might be a cancerous mobile like game.
Daniel Thompson
as a wii u owner, i'm seeing conflicting signs
switch is definitely shaping up to be another wii u, but if people are actually into the "gimmick" and there are tons of exclusive games, it might be successful. but i see absolutely no reason why anyone would buy it day 1 when it literally would only have zelda. what a fucking nightmare
Jack Moore
Sadly, that wouldn't surprise me at all.
Is it a full price game?
Chase Diaz
the gamepad was fucking great for local multiplayer. too bad Splatoon was a cunt and acted like the map was absolutely necessary so you couldn't take a friend online like with MK8. also they made Nintendoland and that was fucking it for the asymmetric multiplayer. shit was good but ultimately it was wasted potential.
Owen Parker
>I spoke with a Konami rep, who funny enough provided some of the hardest behind the scenes details of any of the games played. As for when led to its development, was told that both Nintendo and Konami came together to help make it happen in the first place It's because Kimishima took hostages from Konami, probably.
Benjamin Brooks
I bought the WiiU at launch with a bunch of games. I still love the WiiU and don't see anything announced so far that would make me get the Switch day one. I'll get it eventually just not day one.
If they don't allow me to transfer my bought digital games to the Switch then they can go fuck themselves until 2018.
Anthony Walker
Well, there's no improvement in visuals because nintendo is using the exacy same assets. But the performance looks like a hell lot better on the switch. In 40 minutes the autists at digitalfoundry played it, only in two 1 second moments the thing dropped from 30. Now WiiU well.. anything that looks slightly heavy will drop the frame rate to its 25 fps and sometimes even worse.
Not sure.
Caleb Wright
I feel like the old Hudson team took the Switch dev kit that Konami tossed to the side and developed it secretly while on breaks from being doormen and janitors
Charles Green
This is the best game Nintendo has produced in 20-odd years.
Let that sink in.
Ryan Miller
I got a wii u in 2015 a week after black friday for 250 usd bundle with splatoon and smash. Pretty good desu.
Brayden Green
People would be satisfied to buy a Switch if Zelda were the only game for it, it's just that popular of a series, and this game is very hyped, and the Wii U has been such a heaping piece of garbage that to them it's worth buying a whole other console for that experience.
Blake Baker
>botw any better on switch? 900p instead of 720p, and less framerate drops. I'm also expecting some bullshit situational wagglan gimmicks with the joycons so the WiiU version will avoid that.
Mason Morris
Treehouse just said you earn the currency in-game and it's used for continuing after getting a game over and for cosmetics. It's entirely possible that it isn't microtransactions at all.
Owen Gonzalez
>the gamepad was fucking great for local multiplayer. Nah, fuck you. multiplayer on gamepad is shit. I didn't pay $500 for my big screen TV just to play on the tiny ass gamepad screen.
Dylan Martin
Same as you, fellow WiiU user. Pre-ordered BotW ages ago for WiiU and didn't change that with the Switch announcement.
Won't be considering getting a Switch until probably halfway through next year, as I give myself a year and a half minimum before I consider buying a new console.
Evan Watson
>I'm also expecting some bullshit situational wagglan gimmicks with the joycons so the WiiU version will avoid that. The game can be played with a Pro Controller you dolt.
Luis Johnson
Just like the free to play games. They make harder and harder and harder to get more gems until you break and pay for it.
Brandon Hill
>I'm also expecting some bullshit situational wagglan gimmicks with the joycons so the WiiU version will avoid that. Source: your gaping asshole.
Connor Gomez
nice amiibos fag
enjoy your $300 chinese tablet with waggle
Christian Wright
Delet this. I'm trying to remain hopeful. I don't trust Konami and they would do something like this, but if this game isn't good and does shit, Bomberman is deader than dead.
Christian Stewart
I regret nothing
Isaac Rodriguez
Ill trade in my wii u for the switch. I dont play with it anymore
Xavier Mitchell
thanks homie
Oliver Garcia
i just hope they dont do that bullshit like they did 10yrs ago with the mirrored dungeons for both console games. I used IGN's wiki guide way back in the day and had to go in and individually snap every dungeon pic, reverse it, and then I could read the maps.
Carter Lewis
Not OP but I'm waiting for Mario Odyssey to drop and see what the general reaction to that is before buying Switch. I don't think a smoother BotW at 900p rather than 720p is worth $300 on its own if you already have a Wii U.
Cooper Russell
WiiUBro present
Not getting a Switch until new Smash Bros
Will also buy immediately if Bayonetta 3 gets announced
Gabriel Price
They probably did it because they're morons like that for some reason
Charles Allen
Those motherfuckers better not shut down the Wii U eshop anytime soon. I have games on my account but not on my system and if they fuck me out of games I purchased like that I'll be done with Nintendo.
Gavin Richardson
It was to make Link right-handed and it frustrates me to this day that they pulled such game-altering bullshit instead of just changing Link's character model slightly.
Noah Parker
basically this
i want some of its games, but i feel like they're already giving me a worse Wii U, we don't even have voicechat outside of a fucking smartphone app
Jace Torres
>hundreds of dollars on mcdonalds toys >didnt even get any cheeseburgers or fries with them i will never understand the psychology of nintendofags. its like an alien organism from planet X.
Joseph Russell
In ten years maybe but Nintendo produced a lot of great games during 1997 - 2005 >Metroid Prime 1 and 2 >OoT, MM and in some extent, WW >Melee >Baten Kaitos 1 and Origins (you said "produced", not "developed") >The first Mario Strikers >Mario Party 2 >Eternal Darkness >Fire Emblem 7, 8, and 9 >Battlion Wars 1 >Animal Crossing >Golden Sun >Hamtaro >Drill Dozer >Pokémon Gen 1 remake >Custom Robo >Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission >F-Zero GX
Evan Taylor
I was worried about buying my wiiu the last november but affert waching the presentation my hype for the swich died The only thing that make me sad is mk8 never have a good battle mode. It will be my last console for sure
Oliver Myers
at least it isn't funko
Gabriel Jones
I'm not sure what makes you think it'll be a worse Wii U. Maybe a marginally better Wii U, but I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe that it's actually worse than the Wii U, at least from a technology standpoint. Or do you just mean the library is shit in comparison with only BotW holding the system up?
Julian Stewart
The Wii U will be the last console I'll own. The next Zelda coming out will be the last Wii U game I own. It and my PC are going to carry me on for a while, I seriously have no real itch to drop $300 for a new tablet that can play games and lose essential parts to it. Oh what's that, need a new stand? Our Nintendo brand piece of plastic will do the trick for $50. Hope you never need a new tiny baby controller!
As far as I'm concerned, Nintendo is done and I can get my Mario Kart + Smash fix in from here on out with the Wii U itself or emulators. PS4 Pro and I'm going to assume Scorpio are going to eat shit compared to my PC so there isn't an incentive there either.
Goodbye Nintendo. It was nice growing up with you I guess.
Jordan Campbell
I like them and for a lot of characters those are the only figures they have
Kayden Cook
It´s a $20 dollar game so expect micro transations
Samuel Myers
Paid online and no built in voice chat are two negatives for me.
James Rogers
>needing a walkthrough for the entire dungeon What a fucking pleb.
Asher Peterson
You'll come back for Smash 5. They always come back. R-Right?
Lucas Long
i mean more in terms of sheer usability, the smartphone voice chat app being one of the highlights it's a bunch of good ideas that end up incohesive and lock you out of basic functionality you see everywhere else
for what it's worth i really like the look of Arms, and with Zelda and MK8 and Splatoon I'd probably be happy for a long time library-wise
Landon Baker
Wow OP, I don't think I've ever seen the entire Wii U library in one picture before.
Luke Sanders
my nigga
Blake Sanders
Paid online is bullshit, but I'm hoping it at least results in an actually decent service. Not sure if they announced whether they are getting rid of friend codes or not but I hope to god they do.
Isaac Rivera
>Switch has no games besides Mario >Wii U can be hacked to play everything Wii U is the best choice.
Gabriel Rogers
>I'm hoping it at least results in an actually decent service They've already shown that it isn't. For example. The """"free"""" games are just NES and SNES games, and only last a month. For comparison, the """""free""""" games from XBL/PSN are usually relatively recent games, sometimes even full price retail games, and last for as long as you stay subscribed. If Nintendo wants to compete with XBL/PSN they need to seriously step their game up.
Kayden Collins
easy, get injected roms from wiiuiso
Daniel Bennett
Source on image?
Jeremiah Butler
Hell, the 360 games XBL "gives away" stay yours even if you stop being subscribed.
Jackson Hill
>>Wii U can be hacked to play everything maybe some people don't like bricking their fucking console
Jason Torres
I think that Nintendo have learned nothing from the Wii U. They are still trying to cling to the wagglan legacy of the Wii, even though that market has long since moved on. They still don't understand the importance of strong software and third party support, what with the only game worth owning at launch being a port of a Wii U game. They still don't think they need to compete with other consoles. And their half-hearted attempts to "modernize" are honestly embarrassing and are more likely to alienate people than anything else.
Like, for what conceivable fucking reason would you tie core online services like lobbies and voice chat to a smartphone app? WHY? It boggles the mind. The only thing I can even think of is to try and incorporate smartphones somehow to appeal to stupid old investors.
All the effort they spent on hardware gimmicks and portability is wasted, because anyone who would be interested in those features just games on their phone. It's like they want the mobile audience, but also wants to make them buy Nintendo's overpriced, anti-consumer products, at no point realising there's no intersect in those two markets. Their decisions are constantly fucking baffling, as they make no sense both from either an economic standpoint or a "make good games" standpoint.
I own a Wii U and every year I hoped for something to make it worthwhile, but it never came. It has some good games sure, but less than even a handful of them even come close to their own predecessors in quality. I had to watch as Nintendo practically assassinated their own console with their stupidity, and now the replacement they killed the Wii U for, is just another Wii U.
So, I'm not going to get a Switch. It will be a shame to lose out on the small amount of good games it will get like Splatoon 2 and Xenoblade 2, but I'm not buying another console just to get shit on over and over again.
Jeremiah Parker
I read somewhere that you have to convert roms into virtual console format, how hard is that?
