General Drakengard thread.
Just managed to 100% the bastard. What boss fight is your favourite? I thought Furiaewas some great fun.
General Drakengard thread
>What boss fight is your favourite?
Inuart was pretty fun desu
Queen Beast
Black Dragon and Furiae were pretty fun
on ps2 ? its been over 2 decades since i last opened my save. i think i was around 98 percent weapon completion. what was your hardest weapon to get ????
Inuart was pretty solid but his magical ability to dodge 333 times a second can sod off.
>those last 20 seconds
Name a more compelling relationship in vidya
Pro tip: you probably can, but I still find them interesting
I just finished the DLC for Drakengard 3 yesterday, gonna read the mangos and then head back into Drakengard1.
>tfw Gabriella was the coolest dragon
Have the PS2 games held up well? I've never played them.
They were pretty much in love.
2nd game only reinforced it.
>held up
1 was bad on release, and now its a decade older.
Scream. All the weapons were fairly easy to get (Chaos form dragon deals with pretty much everything) but getting Scream relies on not taking too many hits from the fuckhueg cloud of enemies while you're waiting for the stone statues to become hittable.
I did manage to get Poisontongue and Widow's Death in the same run though, which I'm pretty proud of.
What's your favourite weapon description? I like Knight's Vow.
You're gonna get a lot of people telling you the games play like shit, and while I think it's often exaggerated they do suffer from some fairly major flaws. You can't reset the camera, for example, so at some points you're going to be relying on the minimap for your aiming while you wait for the camera to re-orient itself.
Enemies aside from standard soldiers often hit fast and hard (with ranged enemies being the absolute worst for this, they spam shots like motherfuckers) which is a pain in the ass when every hit will stun you for a couple of seconds.
The worst one I find is that you can't break or change your target in the aerial missions, so you'll occasionally take hits you really shouldn't while desperately trying to aim at things you're already looking at.
With that being said though, I think it's pretty fun. You should give it a shot.
I was just playing it last night, actually.
>mfw slaughtering so many child soldiers that even the massively racist dragon tells me to chill out
>unlock a special bonus weapon if you go out of your way to kill every last one on the map
I remember when I first started Drakengard. Just a few weeks ago I was on a Dynasty Warrior splurge so I was expecting something similar. What I got was a guy who moved like he had a broom stick lodged up his ass that moved and fought laughably, with the music in the first stage being pretty bad, the graphics were subpar, and the enemies were Dynasty warrior tier.
However, if you give it a shot and play through a few stages, the story begins to unravel and a lot of the faults become virtues, and the game becomes that much better for it. It was a very enjoyable experience, even if it is one of the most depressing games I've played.
Only Drakengard that's more depressing is Drakengard 2, an for all the wrong reasons. (aka, the game is horrid shit).
>Caim! Please! They're just children!
YOU CAN'T STOP ME NOW, LEONARD
NOBODY CAN STOP ME NOW
Although Leonard was a true bro, especially in the route for Endings D & E.
DEATH NEED NOT BE THE END OF HOPE!
To be fair, it makes sense that the guy with a raging murder-boner would fall in love with a creature that can effortlessly slaughter hundreds of men.
Which game series has more fucked up lore
Drakengard or Rance
The same type of creature that killed his parents? Caim fucking hates dragons, man. The only reason he makes a pact is because he can't kill the empire if he's dead.
I suppose he could go and do something brotastic when he was not busy diddling little boys.
Would you?
I would
Who says you can't build a meaningful relationship through cooperating in the murder of thousands upon thousands of people?
Leonard's a total bro who just happens to like interfering with little kids.
Oh yeah, that's what they do. I'm just saying that initially, the dragon who hates humans and the human who had dragons kill his parents don't get along so well.
Damn straight.
>Basically fantasy Hex Maniac
>One part of her pact is that she's constantly 'wet'
Better question, who wouldn't?
Oh man... Manah and now this chick are making me reconsider my policy on not bothering with Drakengard 2.
>the mangoes
I've heard about these, are they worth it? DoD 1.3 looks pretty fucking nuts, which is something hard to do when you're talking about Drakengard.
I don't know, I haven't read them yet, though 1.3 is not a manga I think, just novellas
Utahime 5 and Shi ni itaru aka are the ones I meant.
its been a long time to be honest. haven't opnened my ps2 or the save.
>novella
Oh shit, thought it was a manga. Where the hell is this from, then? Some fan thing?
Leo was a real bro, but it probably shows how fucked up the game is when the pedo is one of the most sane and bro characters
I guess the point was to show that he's a person too, maybe? Or maybe it's just because the other options consist of a) an insane child-murdering cannibal, b) a child or c) Verdelet, who is probably the most sane out of the lot of them but is pretty goddamn useless when it comes down to it.
I really thought they did Arioch's insanity well, though. I don't think she says anything that's not based around her hunger or murderlust throughout the entire game aside from her name. Was she even conscious of what she was doing when the Watchers ate her? The game calls her a "true friend" for it but she didn't even seem to do it intentionally.
If you made a pact, what do you think would be the worst thing to have as a price?
Losing the ability to go to the toilet would literally be like hell for me
Sense of taste. Being unable to see or being deaf would also suck mad dick, but imagine not being able to taste a goddamn thing. Everything you drink, everything you eat - just the same flavourless mush, forever.
Fuck that.
the ability to sleep, probably. I'd probably get really depressed if I couldn't just sleep away negative thoughts and wake up fresh.
not having an orgasm
That elf prick in 2 had a pretty rough one
>Wants to impress his boyfriend
>Makes a pact with gnomes
>Loses his ability to feel any and all kinds of physical pleasure again
Even if he hadn't have been rejected, it still would have sucked
I think it may just be fanart, no page number and all.
>Being able to eat disgusting health food without worrying about the taste
Enjoy giving away something useful like your libido, I'll just be over here becoming an eight-foot tall Ubermensch.
Yeah, but you'd never be able to eat your favourite foods again. No fine breakfasts, no delicious beverages... Fuck that. There's nothing I don't like to eat anyway.
My best's friend's father had fallen once and hit his head on the concrete, after that he conpletely lost both his sense of smell and taste.
He says that everything doesn't like anything so it's not a big problem, he actually jokes about it a lot.
It's really not a big deal, stop being a pussy. Not being able to see is fucking terrifying to me, it's much worse.
Doesn't taste like anythin*
Yeah, being able to see wouldn't be top of the line or anything but I really do enjoy being able to taste things. Underrated sense.
Giant Manah was pretty fun,if not a little annoying.
Furiae battle gave me erection when I finally won
I don't know if I sucked really hard at it or if the most efficient way of defeating her was a battle of attrition.
Just shooting her repeatedly whilst taking shots to the face was the only way I could beat her.
Furiae's attack patterns were at least reasonable to dodge
>mfw grinding weapon levels
I'm not very far into the game, maybe I should leave it be until I get farther.
same as Arioch's
A lot of the starting weapons suck balls in my opinion.
level 4 cometdance can get you to like chapter 3 without much frustration, after that I used swordsmasher for a few chapters.
Make sure you use the weapons guide to get all of them in case you want to get the last ending
I got Caim's sword to max on the very first mission. So far its the only one I really like using.
>Inuart was pretty solid but his magical ability to dodge 333 times a second can sod off.
I think it's intended that you blast him with non lockons. It's what I did and I completely pounded his asshole in like 10 seconds.
Not that user, but I too used maxed Caim's Sword for a long while.
I'd suggest when you decide to switch main weapon, switch to Nobuyoshi,it's good.Look up from a guide.
Also, the Free Expedition Chapter 1 levels are good places to grind for weapons.
Yeah I used it for quite a bit as well.
You get swordsmasher in chapter 3, I recommend getting it to level 4 as well if you like swords.
You can also exploit magic immune foes with its invisibility spell in some bullshit way.
Robber King and Knight's Vow are both excellent weapons to deal with problems.
That's what I did, but shit was still slightly irritating. Hitting him outside of his magical charge was some shit to pull off.
>That's what I did, but shit was still slightly irritating. Hitting him outside of his magical charge was some shit to pull off.
I don't remember how I did it but there's a way to set him up so he can't dodge. I remember being as annoyed as you until I figured it out and he just sort of became a joke.
>Rance
What is it about?
it's still doable with lock-on he gets hit occasionally when flying and you get a guaranteed hit when he's channeling his gay burst spell.
FU RI AE
FU RI AE
If you blast him when he's really close and you're to the side of him he generally can't dodge.
What I ended up doing was just completely ignoring him until he did his charge then hitting him twice.
>If you blast him when he's really close and you're to the side of him he generally can't dodge.
I think that's it because while trying to remember how I did it I had vague images of being very close to him and the phrase shotgun.
Also how are the pact penalties ever decided? Caim loses his ability to speak but Inuart just loses his ability to fucking sing? Verdelet only loses his fucking hair? Caim got had by the gods.
Seems to be mostly like a monkey's paw effect.
Inuart loses the one thing that made him special to the one he loves, his songs.
Arioch loses the ability to have more kids after losing the ones she cherished.
Verdelet must have been vain as fuck or something because >hair
I didn't really see the issues with Caim's or Seere's but an user in the last thread pointed out that Caim was a leader who lost the ability to speak (and thus lead) and Seere lost the ability to grow up into a hero. I can see them, although they're a little tenuous and don't give me much to go on for Leonard. Not that losing his eyes ever really held him back, anyway.

Leonard I can get behind as sight is kind of associated with lust. Caim losing speech really doesn't effect his ability to lead though since he has a dragon that can speak and just read his mind anyways. I mean if you exist as a soldier in this universe who would you rather follow? Normal Caim, or Caim that speaks only through his murderous dragon?
Caim's and a couple other long blades are good but what you really want outside of the red armor dudes is a cash money alt-spell. there's a few weapons that have serious insane spell moves.
Yeah, they weren't always an actual problem. Leonard does pretty well for a guy who can't see and as you said, Caim has no need to speak when the dragon can do it for him.
And It didn't stop Seere from being that hero ;_;.
The dragon fights with Inuart were the closest I had to actual fun.
Furiae and/or the Queen Beast were the most frightening though.
I think Leonard won the shortest end of the stick as far as pacts went.
Furiae was fun as fuck. QB was some insane shit and was bloody hard to boot.
Cometdance actually has a really solid magical ability because it's got range, stuns and does great damage all in one package for the cost of like 2 mana-orbs. My next go-to is Wisdom because Thus Spake The Aesir desiccates niggers, especially when they're grouped-up.
On that note, which ending was the coolest? I thought Furiae demons exterminating all life was pretty awesome.
Ending B was the most ominous note to go out on.
Ending E was great because it actually entails all the other characters and takes what should have been a joke ending, and frames it like it's a series of shots from a quiet psychological horror movie.
The were all pretty fucking cool in their own right and I don't think I could pick a favourite. A's probably the least depressing overall, which is not saying much.
I liked Caim's smirk at the ending of C. Bumped that ending up a shitton, especially after what I'd just had to do to get it.
D is probably the one I'd pick as my favourite if I really had to, but one thing I wasn't sure on is is the world permanently frozen in time, or just that one area?
>A's probably the least depressing overall
I would've gone with "bittersweet," considering that it's the only ending where there isn't a literal apocalypse starting out with child murder.
>is the world permanently frozen in time, or just that one area?
I think it's just that part of the world, going by the final shot of the ending.
What about E? They might have gotten away with it there.
You might be right, since the world's still turning. It just seemed pretty encompassing based on Seere saying this at the end.
>Ending E
Caim's world survived. But most of his party and Nier's world were decimated in the process.
If Drakengard 1 had 3's gameplay, I might even be bothered to play it.
A rapist.
I honestly think 1 had better gameplay than 3.
That opinion might've changed if they ever fixed the framerate, though.
>A remake of Drakengard 1 is announced
>Release info for the game would indicate its a remake
>It turns out to not be a remake but a completely new game/story once playing the game
Would Taro do something like that?
God that makes me so wet
Yes Taro would totally pull that shit
Definitely, he already said he wanted to go straight from Drakengard 2 to Drakengard 4 and make it about the search for the missing game, Drakengard 3.
Question is, would they'd let him?
All things considered,probably not.
They just might if Kamiya supported him, though.
