>Every unit of Wii U sold was at a loss.
>Gamepad cost to build including Labour was $95.
>Wii U console itself costed $140-150. Add in shipping and retailer cut and there’s no room for price drops.
>Switch price is set up for future price cuts that are still profitable. Ditto the expensive accessories.
The Wii U never made money
>It’s not just a passthrough. You won’t see third-party docks. It has proprietary technology. Not just an empty shell that charges and passthrough hdmi. That’s why it’s expensive.
>It has to read that the switch is docked, switch the signal to hdmi (since the switch doesn’t have a hdmi port on the unit itself) and then hdmi to TV.
HAHAHAHAA!
I don't get it?
The same could be achieved pretty cheaply using open-source tech like a simple NFC-chip in the Switch and a reader in the dock. It's fucking bullshit. It's like Apple trying to tell people why they removed the headphone jack. They want money.
>transmitting 1080p video over NFC
wouldn't that have delay out the ass?
Also I'm fairly sure the dock has cooling built in so it can handle the extra power required for 1080p out.
And what are the chances of a Switch price cut based on what it cost to be made?
The dock doesn't have cooling. The fans are in the screen part itself.
The dock is just charging, HDMI out, and USB stand that probably uses a magnet or something to tell the Switch to go into HDMI out mode.
doesn't it connect via USB-C to the dock?
It really seems like Nintendo still think they have a monopoly over the industry with how they act. They legit act like they think they can do anything and that 3rd parties will flock to them for no other reason than they're Nintendo. Where does this mentality stem from?
