What is Sup Forums's honest opinion on the Uncharted series?

What is Sup Forums's honest opinion on the Uncharted series?

They're fun to play through once, i never could be bothered to replay them though due to all the scripted events.

I like them. They're one of the few games I've played that don't use "cinematic experience" as a cop-out but a genuine virtue and design aesthetic.

Literally the cancer killing gaming

I think Uncharted 2 is fantastic despite its shitty writing. Uncharted 3 is overrated and uncharted 1 doesnmt hold up. Still have yet to play uncharted 4

>4 games released in the past 10 years

far from the cancer killing games

I enjoy them
I like how the ND collection allows cheats for uncharted 3
>tfw glitched to get a weapon as kid drake(cant use cheats in that section) and he had a finger pistol
Same with the brawl fight section
Fun fact if you turn the camera for the first portion of the bar fight the other half of the bar isnt there

>Just Tomb Raider with a penis
>Somehow killing gaming
It's not even an open world game

3>2>4>>>>

The occasional impressive set piece masks the blandness of the minute to minute shooter gameplay.

Uncharted 4 actually has the least set pieces/biggest gameplay focus and is my least favourite because of it. They did improve the gameplay a bit but it's still subpar compared to shooters like Max Payne 3, Dead Space, Re4, etc.

They're cool games. I wish 4 was more action heavy, cause the crazy shit Drake does hit new heights for the series.

Pretty fun narrative-focused adventures.

The writing is meh but the performances are always top notch.

Gameplay is pretty standard, nothing too crazy.

3 sucked though

It's one of my favorite series but the praise it received is way overblown. And it's a bit like magic, once you know how it works it looses a lot of it's appeal.

I fully expect to like Naughty Dog games less and less with each new game they make tho unfortunately.

5 if you count Golden Abyss

I'm playing 1 right now, it's really short, TPS combat is super generic and feels like there was some gimmick they designed for it then scrapped it before release. Story lsnt awful but I don't feel compelled to finish it.

Good for what they are, great production values and acting, excellent multiplayer

They're pretty good.

I like the gameplay for what it is and despite how generic Nathan Drake is as a character, he's still pretty likable and memorable.

I only liked 4. And even then only the gunfights, SO much of the game is made up of boring walking sequences it's ridiculous.

1 is genuinely a very bad game. 2 is okay but mostly just praised for its technical achievements. 3 has some interesting fights like the ship graveyard but holy shit what the FUCK is with the gun sounds in that game, they're so loud they give you fucking tinnitus. Also the story was blatantly tampered with and turned out really bad.

4 has probably the best character stories and gameplay in the series. I can't believe Druckmann had a tantrum about people wanting more fights and less walking around.

Only played a bit of 2, the demo of 3 and almost finished 4. Didn't like 2 and 3 at all, boring, way too over the top, console so ugly as shit, really not engaging.

4 was way better but it was still pretty average IMO. Graphics and TECHNOLOGY were fucking spectacular for a PS4 and that's what kept me going, I wanted to see what they managed to achieve on such underpowered hardware. And it was great. But the game itself? Polished as fuck, great and smooth as shit gameplay but again, really not engaging, extremely predictable, riddles were way too easy. But the madagascar part where you slide on mud was top tier.

I think U4 is an extremely solid 7.5/10. Can't rate the others, didn't play them enough.

My favourite one is when he grows his beard out and helps a girl escape from mushroom zombies.

2 is the only good one. All that needs to be said really.

They're really mediocre. Perfectly fine for killing time, very few flaws, but very few noteworthy qualities either. They just feel like soulless, textbook games, like they were made in a factory. There are no attempts to innovate or do anything creative. The only standout thing for me is that they have pretty good setpieces and the train sequence in Uncharted 2 felt like the most well thought out thing in any of the games, and I thought it was above average for a train level which is saying a lot seeing as train levels are usually fantastic.

>Also the story was blatantly tampered with and turned out really bad.

It wasn't that it was tampered with, it just had poor directing.
The developers pretty much had a bunch of cool scenes, moments, and set pieces they wanted to use and built a lot of the game around those, so it's never really a cohesive experience.

2 isn't even good it's only remembered as such for having one good level.

Basically, with TLOU, the Uncharted serie killed the gaming industry. Now, every retards just want a movie with good grafix.

Competent but ultimately un creative larger than life movie games the tribute it pays to the mythos of Indiana Jhones and Laura Croft is notable.
They're feel good games with some great set pieces and some admittedly great graphics and animations. The gameplay is functional and responsive although hardly standout or genre defining.

Ultimately it's a solid if predictable series and accomplishes what it sets out to do. But you should not confuse its set pieces with ambition, because the actual ambition of the game is quite small. Its ambition is to make the player feel like a bad ass movie star.

The train sequence is actually 2 levels.

>10 years since it began
>2007
>the year where gaming became gayming

Uncharted did aluminium age of gaming

Some of my favorite multiplayer.

I like watching movies as well.

It certainly feels like it was. Talbot's spooky shenanigans look like they were UNDOUBTEDLY leading to some supernatural twist where he's a lesser version of that devil spirit manipulating Marlowe to let him escape. That's why he has those darts with the same effect as the water.

But no he's just some dude.

Just like the Last of Us, it's one of my top favorite movies. It's so amazing that they used Ellen Page's and Brendan Frasier's likeness.

I really enjoyed them. They are the definitive example on how to make a great action tps game. The only thing is they started adding non-gameplay gameplay after the 2nd one and it has only gotten worse.

You get what I mean, still only 2 chapters out of the whole game.

UC 4 has great gunplay and the fact it actually requires you to use stealth if you wanna progress is a really nice change to the core gameplay.

The story is meh but it's a pleasant rap up for the series.

I agree aside put uncharted 1s story after uncharted 2.

Uncharted 4s was awful/had no mystical element to it.

How the fuck is 1 a great action tps game?

never played 1st one, 2nd was fun, 3rd - boring as hell. do not have ps4, so no uncharted 4

Uncharted 2 is very good the rest are mediocre, online is fun

1 sucked, 2 was good, 3 had the most underwhelming final fight I've ever experienced. Haven't touched 4 but it looks really good.

I almost smashed my Vita when playing Golden Abyss. Those QTEs were ignoring my inputs and I know it.

>had no mystical element to it
Just fucking why. This was defining every Uncharted game until then.
>encountering the zombies for the first time in 1

4's lack of a supernatural twist was disappointing, but its character writing is much better than the other games. There's a lot more going on with Drake, Sam and Elena than any of the characters in other games. Nadine is generic strong bad guy, but Rafe had a pretty cool parallel to Sam as being a rich kid living in the shadow of his dad's successes, wanting to achieve something himself for once.

1s final fight was much more underwhelming.

It was literally just a single shotgun enemy with starting out in a bad spot

Only played the second game, loved it. Tried the third game but I just couldn't fucking care enough to keep going. Didn't play nor see gameplays from the first or the fourth one.

>biggest gameplay focus
theres very little shooting and A LOT of shit puzzles, fake platforming and hook your car to the threes for the tenth time

is a shame because the shooting is good

Uncharted 2 on crushing is one of the greatest tps experiences in the history of gaming.

Prove me wrong.

Masterful technical showcase, though a standard TPS.

Waiting for SFM porn of Cassie

Too mainstream/casual for me. Did play the first one, it was fun. But I got it for 9.99.

Reminded me of the old Indie games.

Movie games.

Never been interested in playing them, just a pseudo-Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider game.

"YAWN"

>I can't believe Druckmann had a tantrum about people wanting more fights and less walking around
can you explain this user I been out of this shithole called Sup Forums for a while

Everybody else already said my sentiments for the story and gameplay so I'll move onto the second most important aspect: the waifus

TOP TIER
Chloe

GOOD TIER
Elena

OKAY TIER
That chick from Golden Abyss

MARY SUE TIER
Nadine

I loved 1-3 I haven't played 4 yet. I'm not sure that I want to, it looks really shitty and would rather ignore it

They're nice little adventures
The brutal difficulty added in the collection wasn't thought out very well at all though

Great for weekend romps when you just want to play something brainless, just like Last of Us.

>Mary Sue Nadine
>No chloe
>Canon nate and elena
>No more bachelor Drake with a new girl in each game
>Sam

You actually liked 3?

I was massively disappointed with it after 2.

Then again I played through it before they patched the aiming.

I like Marlowe. What tier is she?

Shittiest gameplay ever conceived and the most boring and dull story ever written. At least it looks cool on the PS3 but what a fucking blurry mess is on the PS4. Also this.

Great acions games with one of the most likable normies of all time

not that user but U2 was fucking great, the levels, the gunfights, the multiplayer, my waifu Cloe and it actually had a couple of good boss fights

was meant to write "normie", characters other than Drake are just meh

They're okay. It's nice to play a mostly fun linear action game in an age of open world trash.

Bought the Nathan Drake collection for my PS4 on the cheap since I never played them on the PS3.

1 was alright but suffered a fair bit from that "first game in a series" jankiness. I started 2 but only got a couple hours into it. Never touched 3 or 4.

The series is just sorta underwhelming considering the ridiculous praise its gotten. All the big action setpieces are completely transparent, the story isn't anywhere interesting enough to make all the "slow down and talk for a bit " sections remotely interesting, and the gameplay itself is serviceable at best.

Tomb Raider for dimwits.

I spent way too much time in U2's survival mode

I only played Uncharted 2 and it was like going to McDonalds, comfortable and pleasant, but not remarkable.

It surprised me how absolutely shitty the writing was because that's where I was expecting the game to deliver.

It was also too long. Tibet just wouldn't fucking end.

Impressive production values.

It actually made me delay playing TLoU for a long time because I thought it would be similar. Boy was I wrong. TLoU was awesome.

overrated games for low class people.

>make the game harder by giving hitscan enemies laser accuracy
Such great game design

Being in the multiplayer beta for U2 was my favorite multiplayer experience.

I never touched it when I got the full game though, I dunno.

Ever fucked a granny advert. tier

I played Tomb Raider 2 shortly after Uncharted 2 and it's not even funny how that old game completely shits all over everything Uncharted strives to do.

What did he mean by this?

I feel that was intentional, the story this time was about uncovering a treasury rather than some blue gel that gives you power

>Fair enough
>shame but she wouldn't fit into the story that well
>no problem
>game's about settling down anyway
>shoe-horned and obviously thought of after previous three but decent enough character

The levels and gunfights in 2 were shit, baring the train. The gunplay is the absolute bare minimum for a TPS, nothing more, nothing less, and most of the level design is just straight corridors of whack-a-mole.

I liked the first one, the island is very cool but the constant cover and shooting of enemies that look the same and come out of everywhere is very tiring and frustrating.

Been playing 2 and it's better in every way though the first couple of levels were kinda boring.

They're contrived, like all Naughty Dog games sans the Crash series.

They just don't put any thought into the gameplay and think they can tell a good story by making it as cliche ridden as possible and making the characters entitled white americans who take great pleasure in mass murdering literally thousands of south americans. The gameplay is essentially Gears of War with control stick+X point to point climbing sequences breaking them up.

Same deal with the Jak series. The first game was good because they put the gameplay first, but when Sony bought them up and they made the sequels they forced on this extremely contrived story with gunfights and a godawful city setting that took away everything good that the first game achieved.

It's more like Tomb Raider for people that aren't horny teenagers.

>entitled white Americans killing South Americans

I hope you're being facetious because all the enemies in the game are mercenaries who've probably killed more people than Drake.

Also they only fight South Americans in the first game.

1-3 were "ok"

4 is a legitimately good game though.

I bought the collection and have been stuck playing Drake's Fortune.

A lot of the controls when you're jumping and climbing are very unresponsive, and I'm getting cheap deaths where Drake doesn't even attempt to jump when I hit X or a ledge, and just falls down like a leaf.

I put this game down so much because I've been on this island forever fighting the same type of guys, using the same guns, and it's just boring.

You don't have to be horny to notice that Tomb Raider does everything better than Uncharted in the gameplay department.

As soon as the platforming in 4 even gets a little bit interesting the game is over, its a fucking shame.

If Naughty Dog actually knew how to make games anymore, gameplay would consist of Drake using both mystical artifacts and regular equipment for platforming.
>Rope
>Climbing pike
>Stamina system
>Spirit of Djinn lets you double jump or dash
>Indra's Eternity lets you slow down objects and enemies
>Cintamani Stone lets you shortly rewind time Prince of Persia style
>Staff of Ayar Manco is your Witcher/Batman sense for puzzles and seeing enemies

Had 4 been about Drake and an undead Blackbeard working together to look for his long lost stolen fortune with said gameplay mechanics it would be GOTYAY. Just think of the quips between Drake and a centuries-old pirate that understands none of the dumb shit each other say.

I also want to fuck Lara's pixelated tits.

Once you've played 2 you've played them all

I played 70% of 2 yesterday for the first time. The franchise feels like popcorn. If Joe Carnahan does make a movie of it, he's the perfect guy. The gameplay is solid but far from ambitious. It's enjoyable, but not enough that I'd recommend them to anyone. I'm glad I got the Nathan Drake Collection with my PS4 because I wouldn't want to have paid for it. They make great tech demos to use a PS4, but holy fuck, I would resent the fuck out of Naughty Dog if I paid $60 for one let alone all of them. I still need to play 3, but if it doesn't change my mind, I have next to no interest in playing 4.
If I ever climb something and have it fall leading to my falling with it as well again, it will be too soon.

They're fun and pretty well written compared to a lot of other games.
Solid gunplay, good platforming, good graphics, tends to run well, and has good voice acting.
The majority of Sup Forums seems to hate games just made for fun for some reason.

Made by devs who know how to make a good feeling third person shooter as evidenced by the multiplayer and sparse shooting there is in the single player.
This is blocked by their boner for set pieces and sub-par action stories.

>It actually made me delay playing TLoU for a long time because I thought it would be similar. Boy was I wrong. TLoU was awesome.
I played both side by side, there is difference in tone between them, which makes it good for variety. I finished UC2 earlier, because it was over after about 14 hours, while I still have to finish TLoU.

Campaign is good fun, multiplayer is great.

I'm playing through 4 and it feels like im not really playing at all
im just kinda being lead through corridors and set pieces

>DRAKE'S fortune
>among THIEVES
>DRAKE'S deception
>a THIEF's end

Woah...

I still have to play Uncharted 3. I have the PS4 collection. I think they're pretty decent games for a playthrough as long as you treat it like a Michael Bay movie and you're not expecting it to be the next Half Life.

They're very competent third person shooters but do nothing innovative.

7/10 they're okay

I was surprised how well Sam was handled, it never came across as forced as I thought it would have been.

Made me think really hard

nothing more than a fun popcorn movie
Characters aren't complex, plot is often chit
but the way the dialogue is written and how the characters interact with each other is easily the best in vidya.

Gameplay is horrendous but the set pieces and the pacing make up for it.

They're good, although not really heavy on the replay value as far as singleplayer goes. I think this is one of the only story-heavy games of the last gen to have likeable characters. I'd prefer Naughty Dog make a new series with relatively lighthearted vibes like this series instead of something like TloU.

It's funny how series like this get so much shit for being cinematic, yet the dame people who shit on a series like this will then go to circlejerk other cinematic games like SotC, Bayonetta, HL2, etc. All linear games who's cinematics arguably get in the way of gameplay more than Uncharted's.

Im my opinion, I'd say 2>4>3>1, as overall games I mean
