I'm more falmiliar with the way Yakuza operate but all East Asians in general are openly xenophobic and would never accept an Americanized gook within their ranks. Wei Shen was way too American. It'd actually be more convincing with a White guy playing the lead role.

Because he grew up in that neighborhood, with Jackie, Winston and everybody else, and therefore can easily insert himself in their group. Did you play the game? I mean there are things to criticize with the writing, but at least don't ask something that's answered in the first 20 minutes of the game.
