Who else played it and loved it/still plays it?

Who else played it and loved it/still plays it?

Tenchu 2's story was so bad.

It's amazing

Yeah, but all those bosses

As a hardcore tenchu fan, 2 is by far the worst in every way.

I loved the original Tenchu, it was one and continues to be one of my all time favourite games but I really didn't like Tenchu 2 at all.

The level design felt sloppy, they pushed the tech too far trying to create these vast outdoor environments and it just resulted in shitty gameplay, an over reliance on fog and absolute forgettable missions.

Did like that it added weapon holstering though.

I got to disagree about that, first because it played better than Tenchu 1 and had better music, and second because the Wii Tenchu game exists.

>it played better than Tenchu 1

In what respects?

I remember the controls being more responsive and some animations like the grappling being faster.

Wrath of Heaven is still my favorite.

ps1 games are too archaic desu

can someone rank ps2 tenchus?

I just love Tenchu. I bought a classic playstation just to play it on. Shame barely any tv's these days have composite inputs. Have to get some wacky composite to hdmi thing which costs a lot of money.

Dude just get an old CRT tv for retro vidya. ps1 games on modern TVs look like shit.

All two of them?
Wrath > Fatal

yeah im gonna keep an eye out for one.

I could've sworn there was a third ps2 game, like a shitty psp port or something

huh. thanks user

I haven't played it in a while but I love the shit out of Tenchu 2. While I loved the original's music more. I loved how quiet and and ambient the maps were.

There was something crude about the design of those games but they were fucking fun as shit. Not to mention the great opening.

For some reason I can go back and play Tenchu 1 but Tenchu 2, the camera just pisses me off and the movement as well.
The ps2 versions had way better controls.
The psp game by From Software was also decent since it was more puzzle and less racking up kills.

anybody else play tenchu with cheat codes cus it was fun as hell messing with the enemies with smoke bombs, dummies, etc?

The last PSP game was made by Acclaim for the Wii and ported on the PSP by From you piece of shit Fromdrone. And it was awful considering it was made for the Wii.

I love making maps in Tenchu 2 so fucking much holy shit.

is it wrong to say I loved Tenchu Z?
wasn't quite like the previous games, but it was very fun to play and had a solid amount of content and unlockables

Fucking loved Wrath and I'm currently emulating Fatal Shadows (outside of items being invisible in UI when using non-software modes, it runs well). The latter is kinda silly with the weird episodic structure they did with story delivery, and the story's more "anime" this time, to its detriment. I always felt Tenchu was at its best played somewhat straight with a supernatural element, but the awkward story direction in Fatal Shadows really shows.

No, it was a great game outside of the presence of repeated content. Sure, the content is recycled but there's only so much you can do until it starts to feel like the same thing over and over again. Ninja customization was awesome though.

how much suspension of disbelief do these games require

yeah man the map making thing in tenchu 2 is awesome fun

in the other tenchu game it was fun playing the weird ass characters. that fucken wooden doll thing was lols

My friends saw me playing Tenchu and he said 'Hey dude you shouldn't play Tenchu like playing some musou game'

Shinobido was better

the amount required for video games

The tenchu series was at some point, considered the most "realistic" (using that word really loosely) ninja game. I would parellel it a bit with the MGS series in that it has some realistic elements paired with fantastical ones. Though it depends on which entry, I know Tenchu Z was played relatively straight.

For example, some games have mythical elements like demons and magic. Of course, no matter the entry, wall running, grapple hooking, and "ninja rebirth items" may be unrealistic to you.

Tenchu 2 was annoying in that sometimes enemies don't spawn.

The mission editor was so advanced for the PS1.

Tenchu Z is best Tenchu

>had better music

Eh I wouldn't say that.

I don't mind the gamepla stuff. MGS is a great example, since you mentioned it - it has these TECHNOLOGY details, weapons and gun porn, everything that should really make it super believable... but it's way too fucking whacky. Whereas when you play something like Splinter Cell trilogy you can really take it seriously. It's a stupid thing and a personal pet peeve but I like when I can take a stealth game seriously.

Sheep Raider is the only allowed exception.

The only music I remember the game having was in the intro. Everything was ambient sound

>had better music
Nobody will ever respect your "opinion". EVER.

I'm sorry but I can't hear you over the boss theme.

How shit is the Tenshu game for the 360?

Wrath of heaven was the GOAT, you literally CANNOT deny this fact

it's not really a story driven game. it's all just missions and gameplay, tons of character customization and unlockable outfits and stuff. lots of skills and abilities to choose from. some samey missions, but it's not that big of a deal. pretty great game honestly, just don't expect it to be a Tenchu story game

It's the prime example of the series. How many hours would you say it has with all that replay. 3 Variations of each stage with 3 characters.

>3 Variations of each stage
Even Tenchu 1 did that.

anyone else pop an awkward boner during the rape scene in tenchu 1?

i'd have sleep-overs as a 10 yr old at my neighbour's place, he had a playstation, we'd play the demos and shit that came with the playstation mag.

one day we rented out tenchu, played the fuck out of it all night. was amazing. the rape scene stayed with me tho.

How was that implemented? It's been a real long while since I played 1.

Each time you play a mission an enemy layout is randomly selected. You needed to use a cheat for seeing which rank you got in which layout, and some layouts were noticeably more annoying than others.

the second is still my proudest purchase. Bought it for Vita on a whim, when it was extremely nogaems, and had a blast. Haven't bothered with blind purchases since I was a little kid

What rape scene?

>had better music
Nah

Anyone here played Aragami? is it any good?

when old mate is forcing himself on top of the girl, then you kill the guy. felt good to kill him.

I always thought the story of Fatal Shadows was the best simply because it was grounded and don't have those fucking chinese ghosts cult shit.

He was just pulling her arm for fuck's sake.

There are rape scenes in other games. Wrath had the fake rape scene where they end up just playing cards, and Fatal Shadows had the massuse you can fight or stab through the floor.

was it really just that? i always thought it was rape. maybe i was a sicko kid

Well that's where you are wrong. The gameplay is way better than 2 and 3. Tank controls were its only flaw.

I don't remember the story.

Got a suggestion on how to fix this?

I used to love making retardedly difficult levels with the level editor and make my little brother try to beat them. Fun game. Wrath of Heaven was even better IMO.

Video - Plugin Settings - Configure Hacks - Set skip draw to 3.

The side effect will be that in some levels (I would say about half, having played through most of the game) the items in the UI display will be invisible. It seems linked to whether or not certain post-processing effects are present. Emulation seems to struggle most with that, as some levels have a constant, but subtle blur no matter what you do, while others are flawless.

Two solutions- play in software mode and bear with the awful graphics. Even in software mode there are graphical glitches, but everything runs fine.

The other alternative is either to memorize and mind item positioning, or switch on the fly to software mode (F9 by default) to check what items you have.

>emulation

dudes just buy a ps2 with a busted laser for like 15$ and a softmodded memcard for 10$ and a cheap used CRT for 20$.

beats all this fucking hassle.

The alternative is to not be a pleb so stop using items.

Yeah, clicking a fucking drop down menu is a real hassle.

it actually is.

Other question- how do your screenshots turn out that way? I have the resolution upscaled to 4x but my screen shots always turn out like pic related.

Fuck you Funny thing is I thought the same exact thing to myself when I encountered the issue

Thanks.
I use Fraps.
With the built-in screenshots from F8 it takes them at rendering resolution.

Thanks- ended up using that Nvida shit for screenshots since it's there and does PNG.

How is that game?
