Will we ever get another game like it?

Will we ever get another game like it?

no. even if zenibeth were to contract out another game, fallout 4 set the bar so low it would take a dev 3 years just put the game in a state where you could actually start building on it.

with HDR becoming the norm, i can't wait to see all those additional shades of brown possible

Ok, I enoyed this game for 100h. It's a good game. Not great. Did I miss something or why is this supposed to be one of the best games ever. I just don't see that special ingredient.

fuck you contrarian fallout 4 has some of the best mechanics and is one of the most full of life rpgs of all time.

>I just don't see that special ingredient.
That's because you have no clue what makes RPGs actually great. New Vegas has god-tier roleplaying with shitloads of quests that have alternative solutions that depend on the way you have built your character.

>hating on FO4
>being contrarian
LMAO.

>RPG
Keep trying Todd

trying too hard, learn subtlety.

Ok. The RPG Aspect is really good but the rest is mediocre.

How do I mod this game? I got it for Christmas but have never modded an RPG before.

F:NV is open world game, you can do anything in a way you want, it's also RPG with well balanced map.

it's not amazing, it's not special it's just good.

Your right user but no need to resort to insults!

Just go to New Vegas Nexus and start installing mods until your game breaks, then start uninstalling them until it starts working again.

>Play it again

shitty, overrated, broken games? we get those games all the time

I heard you have to get the order of them right though? How do you know how to get the right order of mods in place?

Download the nexus mod manager, it allows you to install most mods automatically and it also allows you to sort their position in the load order manually. The higher the mod on a load order the higher priority it has when the system has to decide which mod overrides which.

Generally, just put the most complex mods as high in the load order as possible and shit like models and textures at the very bottom.

there's plenty of tools for that. wrye flash, loot, fnvedit, etc. just read a few tutorials or follow a guide.

VATS is cool but the gunplay is shit. There is a little delay when shooting guns and high rpm weapons stutter when fired. It came out that guns are literally magick, and magic isn't meant to be "fired" instantly and fast. Fuck bethesda and their engine.

Movement is utter shit.

FoxEngine would be a perfect engine for FNV

>Johnny Guitar

No and it's pretty devastating to be honest.
Bethesda wont allow it for obvious reasons.

>Fallout 4
>RPG
Hi Todd

Ok cool thanks. What happens if even just one mod doesn't work? I remember I attempted it once with FO3, just one graphical mod which a lot of people had and was well made, so not like it was a shit mod. Even then though just the one and it kept crashing my game so I stopped trying.

FO4 sex mods when?

I don't know about that. Obsidian spent a considerable amount of time overhauling F3's engine.

Another Fallout game? no

Another game that's similar? who knows, maybe

youll cowards dont even jingle jangle

>What happens if even just one mod doesn't work?
uninstall it, if it doesn't work uninstall every other suspicious mod as well and if THAT doesn't work, you'll have to do a clean reinstall. Modding these kind of games can be a time consuming and frustrating experience.

I dont think the mod is to blame for Fallout 3 crashing.

Also, why does Fallout 2 feel so much better to play than Fallout 1? They are basically the same core game but 2 feels so much more... clean. Is it because the UI looks more polished?

Avellone left so you'd end up getting SJW fallout instead, either way New Vegas was much better than the turd that is Fallout 3 despite it being rushed as fuck.

if a mod doesn't work it might crash the game because the mod could be loading a resource your missing. in the case of graphics mods the game will still load but your textures or whatever just wont show up. textures are probably the easiest to get working though. graphics mods can crash the as well because you could be running out of vram which usually just ctd's the game.

Everyone except braindead bethesda fanboys and video game journalists disagree with you.

Play Fallout 3, 4, Dragon Age 2 and 3 and all of the Mass Effects and understand why New Vegas is superior.

Why won't Bethesda just hire Avellone and Sawyer?

Oh so you're saying the game itself might be the problem in that case, or need a reinstall?

Ok thanks, I'd never considered that.

Pride. Old Toddy boy wouldn't like the OG writers and developers shitting on all his crap writers and "it just works" ideas.

Because Bethesda doesn't want to make game likes that, they want easy shit that doesn't require too much thought, there's a reason why New Vegas has rabid haters out there.

Here is a Prey situation, but on different level of quality.
Everyone thought that Prey was just another good oldschool (if Half-Life/Unreal style games can be considered that) shooter. But it wasnt the another one, that was the LAST one.
Same with NV.

when f4se becomes feature complete (read: eons)

why can't Bethesda give Fallout to Obsidian and focus fully on next Elder Scrolls? or is Fallout that good for business?

Avellone wrote Cass, Legate and Veronica for base game of FNV. Out of those, Cass and Veronica are arguably SJW companions (bisexual slut who cucks you in the end and a quirky lesbian).

Bethesda already hired Avellone. Sort of, he's working on Prey. He hinted he'd love to work with them on Fallout some maybe one day he will.

>no. even if zenibeth were to contract out another game, fallout 4 set the bar so low it would take a dev 3 years just put the game in a state where you could actually start building on it.

What would they have to do to rebuild it? I guess I'd say:

-Story has to actually make a lick of sense
-Dialog needs to be expanded and accommodate stat-dependent responses
-Weapons and armor need much more variation, not just linear upgrade mods

Plenty more but this would be my Big 3 I think

I still can't get Elijah to walk into the vault, he always sees me. At least I get all the goddamn gold.

I like being hunted by Caesar and the NCR though, makes it fun to jack their weapons, fix them up, sell them to the Khans for more bullets and repeat until I am an unstoppable kill machine.

Still want to try Hardcore mode but I'm a pussy that hates water/sleep/food bullshit. How annoying does that make the game and can I still fuck about however I want?

hardcore mode is piss easy, food and water is never a concern just bring some fancy lads and bottled water every few days and you'll be good

Fallout 3 is easily one of the most broken games ever made. Its poorly optimized and crashes all the time.

I dont know what kind of wizardry obsidian used to get New Vegas more stable on the same engine.

Avellone is a faggot who shouldn't write characters and instead focus on the setting, world believably and general storytelling, JSawyer is king.

It's not annoying, there's plenty of food and water, especially if you have hit-squads after you.

>bethesda gives obsidian 17 dollarydoos and a weekend to make a videogame
>they somehow slap together a broken masterpiece

It's a gem of a game and a total fluke

>instead focus on the setting, world believably
You mean things he was never famous for? That's bizarre. I liked his characters in FNV, for what it's worth. I thought Dead Money and OWB were excellent.

>as usual misinformed SJWSawyer drones start hating on Avellone even though he is the reason why NV is as good as it is.

So its my first run, got the game during the winter sale and I do like it, but I just don't get some of its functions like repairing or science. Also I keep running out of ammo. Anyone have any tips?

Also, I got into some science lab DLC and I keep getting my shit rocked.

it hilarious and that's why they will never allow them to do it again.

Because they spent money to buy the IP and Fallout 4 was one of Bethesda's most successful game they developed, making 750 million dollars on first day sales.

At the very least he could ask for advice. What's there to be prideful of? If anything Bethesda would get far more critical acclaim for making it true to the lore, base RPG mechanics etc. while making up their own innovations.

>did nothing of note, except for (admittedly mostly good) DLCs
>is the reason FNV is good
jej

Alright then maybe I don't know anything about anyone, but I'll keep running my mouth as if I do.

Which one is the better DLC crisp, Dean Domino or Joshua Graham?

>not annoying

Gonna fire that shit up then. Time to piss off the legion with the Merc Grenade Launcher in nipton and the NCR everywhere else with it. Wish there was a Khan ending though, or an ending for every faction in the game. Would side with the Van Graffs for once instead of just murdering them and stealing all their sweet laser beam guns.

I can't stand Veronica. Something about her voice just works my last living nerve, her fascination with dresses makes no sense, and her joke about sweatpants both dates the game terribly and harms the immersion. I kill her at the 188 every time now and I've played through the game many, many times. The most memorable would be when I unloaded a minigun at her and her torso exploded, and the force of that explosion sent her four limbs and head sailing through the sky, each in a different direction. I'll never forget it, nor the rigidity of the erection it gave me.

Cass is fine

obsidian managed that strange type of quality that usually only from games like stalker or the witcher, where you can just feel janky programming talent and magic is the only thing holding it all together

If it wasn't for Avellone NV would not be fun at all.

If you're playing it unmodded, Chet's store in goodsprings should have some surplus boxes of ammo, so you get plenty of shitty ammo.

>DLCs are the best part of the game
>except the one made by Sawyer

>tfw Veronica is a qt, fights with fists and fun to talk to
>she will never love you because lol lesbians

For a drone like yourself, sure.

The best part of the game is the game.

Thought about getting FO4 but the pics I've seen of it look worse than NV with most objects looking like melted wax. Does it really look that bad?

>make bug ridden half assed piece of shit game
>earn 750 million the first days

really makes you think

I shoot that bitch every time I run into the trading post, fuck her and her voice actress.

That DLC has some pretty high level requirement. I heard getting one of those energy axes helps against robots even if your Melee isn't too good. Repair helps you repair stuff, science helps you hack computers and make drugs, also there are some skill applications in quests and dialogues.

>contrarian
Dude, even if you're baiting, F4 was a failure. Nobody gave a fuck about it three days after it went out

Get your Repair skill up to 90 and at level 14 you get Jury Rigging. Up until that point you'd need an exact identical item to slap together, with that perk you can use anything roughly similar.

Science helps you hack terminals which is usually worthless, Lockpicking is a much better skill to get.

If you're in Big Mountain, go the Little Yangzte or whatever that internment camp is called, and find the little dilapidated building on the other side of the tower and grab that sniper rifle, it's one of the best guns in the game.

Science can also help you make grenades'n shit out of the energy weapon ammunition if you grab one of the perks, I forget which one, but you can browse the whole list any time you want to see what you need.

Dump charisma, it's a useless stat, jack your luck to 10, rape the casinos for every dime, then go to the New Vegas Medical Center and get yourself some implants.

Also since you're in Big MT, keep all the cool body shit they give you. There's tons of resources everywhere, if you run around the whole place and get all the operating systems for the Sink, you can recycle garbage into useful items. The only thing you can never find enough of is Wrenches, sadly. Do EVERY quest in big MT, it's worth it.

Everything is gigantic and looks like its made of plastic, yes. Just look at this plasma "pistol" my character is holding.

This is a joke right? There's no way that's an actual in-game pistol.

The people whom Bethesda markets their games towards did like it, one of their former employers called it the perfect game. Think really hard and understand what that means for the franchise.

>Jury Rigging

The biggest trap option in the entire game.

They do that shit with consoles in mind, a normie won't be able to see how cool a gun is if they are sitting on their couch from across the room, The model of the gun has to be blocking a fourth of the screen so they get to see all the details.

Das it mane

The shot is clearly cropped so the perspective is a bit off, but yup

all the new games look like plastic for some reason, I guess it started with gta v
i mean look at the new red dead redemption trailer

but Sup Forums loves traps

Seems like it's doing fairly well.

What do you mean?

I never said they weren't doing well you mongoloid. I thought that at this point it was common knowledge that Bethesda games sell.

>biggest trap option in the entire game

What did you mean by this? It's a perfectly legit thing to have, though it makes the game A LOT easier.

You can always ignore it and just grab whatever guns are around, use them until they break, and throw them into the road and beat stuff with your fists instead. Or a board with a nail in it.

meant for

My bad. Linked the wrong post.

i think hes talking about how you can repair shit items with rare ones by accident

I personally had more fun on Fallout 3. Something about the overall vibe was so perfect. I really enjoyed NV as well. The scaling on world objects like doors compared to the player character was fucking stupid at times though

My best guess is that he's talking about Dead Money's infinite Weapon Repair Kits, though I still find Jury Rigging neat since I play with JSawyer.esp and I can't really afford to carry too much of those kits.

just enjoy your lolified skyrim

Would I lie to you?

I get a lot more stability from Fallout 3, oddly enough. With New Vegas, I've made a habit out of quicksaving before entering a new area, since going through a door leads to a 50/50 chance of the game crashing

You can get those after you leave the Sierra Madre?

that's deep

Thanks. I needed a laugh.

...yes. There's a vending machine in the Abandoned BoS Bunker. There's a safe in the wall where you get a bunch of chips every week or so. The fake chip recipe that Christina teaches you works too, IIRC.

Also nice for crafting a bunch of Med-X for waifu suit.

Oh yeah I remember the vending machine in the bunker.

Play fallout 4 then go back to the lifeless, time freezing dialogue where your companions don't comment every now and again and tell me it's not the best game bethesda's made as far as technology and lively it is go.

No it's a perfectly fine looking game considering it's emmince size. There's a lot of things wrong with fallout 4, I mean ALOT. But Sup Forums makes it seem a lot worse than it really is

*unzips pants*

That's enough outta you.

>Fallout 4
>lively
>biggest city still has a population of 15

Are all romance options in FO4 bisexual?

>FoxEngine would be a perfect engine for FNV
>FoxEngine would be a perfect engine for Every fucking game ever

God why..
