Zelda, easily.
>tamable horses
>tamable dogs
>friendly NPCs with AI to fight enemies
>MonolithSoft (Xenoblade, Xenobalde X) helped on development for the world (so you know it'll be littered with secrets and an insane amount of hand-crafted detail)
>enemy AI that's actually good (e.g., lighting up their wooden clubs with a fire Link created; throwing nearby barrels at the player; avoiding bombs when they spot them; etc.)
>4 colossal sheikah mech beasts to slay, each with a dungeon inside
>120 shrines with a unique mechanic each, some of them pretty dang large as well
>decent physics engine that can simulate various effects
>mechanics that actually work together within the world (for example, if you want to make a fire, instead of opening a menu to "craft fire"; Link chops down any tree, cuts it into wood pieces, carries the bark in his hand, drops it anywhere on the ground, drops flint on top of the wood, strikes it with any metal melee weapon - boom, fire)
>actual challenge for the first time since LoZ 2 - guardians alone deal a whopping 6 hears of damage
>dynamic weather, temparature, and wind that influences the world as a whole and what equipment the player needs (e.g. if Link gets too cold, you'll need to eat food that warms you or wear thicker clothing)
>sick slow-mo effect then drawing your bow and arrow whilst falling
>fire creates and updraft for your glider
>elemental arrows (so far, we've seen Fire, Bomb, Ice, Lightning, and Sheikah(?) - although we do not know what the last 2 do)
>can climb quite-literally anything in the world - trees, buildings, mountains, even large enemies can be climbed (such as the Steppe Talus rock monster in the Great Plateau)
>no bullshit 2-hour long tutorial anymore, just straight into the game
all this and we still haven't seen gameplay within towns, nor any of the dungeons (aside from a tiny teaser of presumably a sheikah mech dungeon, possibly another dungeon that was set in Death Mountain as well)
Horizon can't compete.
I'm primarily a Sony gamer, but Zelda being the better game seems like a certainty. Guerilla's games have never been that great to begin with, while even the weaker Zeldas are at least decent. And BotW looks like it's going to be better than most recent Zeldas.
Scalebound will beat them all
zelda hands down no question
Compare this to Horizon
wccftech.com
And Level scaling.
>zelda
-same puzzle mechanics/themes since the 90's
>horizon
-IP completely wasted because ubisoft same-shit syndrome
I like the look of both, but it definitely looks like Zelda is going to be the bigger and better game.
Nintendo and monolith built the engine from the ground up for this game. Can you imagine if they made a monster hunter using it? Big huge open worlds with no loading zone? No monster limit. Shit would be so cash.
and shit AI
and horrible camera
and stiff animations
what's wrong with level scaling
Same problem oblivion and skyrim had, there's no real sense of progression because the normal bumfuck bandits that normally slog around in leather armor start coming at you with glass armor and daedric swords
play oblivion and you'll immediately see what's wrong with it
Um, whatever Sony viral marketer is doing this its advised that you stop. It is backfiring. You are actually "positive advertising" Zelda. Unless these are falseflagging threads.
Horizon has enemy scaling so Zelda is already god in comparison
Damn, hype just dropped a lot after seeing that.
So yeah probably Zelda.
nothing in the OP is even remotely biased
>Breath of the Wild one of, if the not the most hyped game of the year releases March 3rd
>Horizon Zero Dawn a game released by the people who brought us the Halo killers (LOL) comes out February 28
What did Sony mean by this?
Did people really get hyped about Horizon?
Personally what I got from their trailers was a tired concept without any charm, heart or innovation It really feels like they just made it to cash in on the open world craze.
Horizon has some pretty impressive looking enemies and animations.
I get the feeling it'll be a mediocre game though
Hype might be the wrong word, but I was at least interested. I was going to get Zelda before even considering Horizon in the first place.
You got your answers the last 3 threads you don't need any more.
and yet it's better than the system that punishes you for doing side quests because you outlevel the main content
and skyrim still had progression, most enemies had a max level and even before I was halfway done I was one shotting bandits
Horizon objectively, not even a contest. But it's gonna have worse sales because it doesn't have ''zelda'' or ''nintendo'' on the box.
Im sorry
Zelda will get a better metascore from the name alone.
Game can be trash, but because it's made by Nintendo and it's a Zelda game it is guaranteed a +90 metascore.
Zelda also has blind rabid fanboys.
That said Horizon could be garbage, but it's also doing way more interesting stuff than Zelda is so it might be the game that is most worth playing out of the two.
I also don't think that the open world aspect makes BotW a better Zelda game and the talk about "100 dungeons" tells me that they're stupidly going for quantity over quality with that game. Less meaningful and satisfying content just to pad it. That's bad game design.
Finally some sanity
>and yet it's better than the system that punishes you for doing side quests because you outlevel the main content
not really, as long as the developers ensure there's areas in the game that have challenging enemies regardless of your level/gear (bonus points if the player is made aware of this early on), it really doesn't matter if the player ends up able to steamroll the small fries.
>4K 60fps
1080p upscaled w/ checkerboarding at 25-30 fps ;)
Sorry for what?
>Horeizon 4K 60fps
LOL SURE OK
>Zelda will get a better metascore from the name alone.
>actually believing this
every entry in the zelda series has been a good game, many of them being great games.
>it really doesn't matter if the player ends up able to steamroll the small fries
it's not just the small fries, games like the witcher were fucking awful without level scaling because you'd shit on everything in the main quest, even the big bads, because you wanted to do a few side quests first
the worst part is that people unironically suggest to play bullet sponge mode to """"fix"""" this
Can you tame foxes? Because the first thing I'm going to do once I get the game is create an animal entourage.
This is more interesting than any combat we've seen from Horizon.
that doesn't mean level scaling would be a good solution, it only means that they did a poor job at providing challenging enemies regardless of being high level.
>it's also doing way more interesting stuff than Zelda
name a few, i dont like open meme games but whats diferent
As far as sales go, it'll be Zelda.
As far as gameplay goes, I don't know, going into both mostly blind so we'll see.
>they did a poor job
doing otherwise would be too much to ask for, and at worst would result in a game that's shit to play because the final boss would be behind 100% of the game's content, all in the name of "progression"
>>Zelda will get a better metascore from the name alone.
>>actually believing this
It's a fact.
>every entry in the zelda series has been a good game
False. Claiming otherwise is blind fanboyism.
You think slow-mo aiming is "intersting"? It's not new and it's just a crutch.
Nintendo just saw some "focus mode" from some last gen game and copied it. This is understandable since Nintendo as often a gen behind.
>ignoring that you can create your own updrafts with fire that you made from an arrow you shot
World/setting, story, enemies, how you fight said enemies, more satisfying combat because you actually deal visual damage to the enemy, etc.
idk, maybe?
depends if the game treats those like doggos, or if you're supposed to hunt the foxes
>the talk about "100 dungeons" tells me that they're stupidly going for quantity over quality with that game
they're 100 mini-dungeons ("shrines"), and the ones they've shown off have been great - you can tell they cut some corners in terms of their aesthetic design (since they mostly look the same), but from a gameplay and puzzle design they looked as good as any other zelda dungeon would have. - I think this is why many have described the shrines as "reminiscent of Portal", since Portal did the same thing in regards to having stoic and plain environments but good level design focus.
>You think slow-mo aiming is "interesting"?
Not him, but there's more than just slow-mo aiming going on here; I'll break it down:
>fast horseback fighting
>fire arrows that can burn any patch of grass
>said fire creates and updraft from the rising hot air as Link glides up
>slowmo as Link draws his bow whilst falling
it's a great example at how they've tuned various smaller elements of the combat to be chained together like this.
>False. Claiming otherwise is blind fanboyism.
Wrong. Claiming otherwise is literal shitposting see, I can do that shit too; give me actual reasons you lazy fuck
I'm looking forward to Conan Exiles personally.
I should care about this how? Similar stuff has been done before. Flying/gliding under fire or some air vent to go upwards has been done before many times.
So in this game they most likely added it to fire arrows as a puzzle element. Big whoop.
What games have this because I would like to play one.
shrines with a unique mechanic each, some of them pretty dang large as well
this sounds like those youtube videos that say
>wow you think botw will have seasons that change?
i mean im excited about the game too but dont overhype it user.
>start game
>takes a minute to kill a robot deer with starting gear
>go through game
>get legendary bow and sword of techno superior pre apocalypse super humans
>reach max level
>kill max level scaled robot deer in 50 seconds
also what games have stais launch
zelda
guerrila haven't made a good game since killzone 2, and that was only good MP wise
they're not competent enough to do sandbox right
me too. they released the price today too and im okay with it.
How many threads are we gonna have of this
Wait till they come out.
>they're 100 mini-dungeons ("shrines"), and the ones they've shown off have been great
Did it ever occur to you that they're only showing off the best ones? Also that is but one thing that points to the game moving away from quality and meaningful content/upgrades.
This direction is never a positive, which Nintendo doesn't seem to understand. Some games even turned to shit like DA:I because of that direction.
>fast horseback fighting
>fire arrows that can burn any patch of grass
>said fire creates and updraft from the rising hot air as Link glides up
>slowmo as Link draws his bow whilst falling
This is special how? Other games have used horseback fighting. Even Darksiders 1&2 did this.
Fire arrows burning grass has been done over like 10 years ago.
In regards to the hot air see The slow-mo is also nothing new and is just a crutch anyway.
>Wrong. Claiming otherwise is literal shitposting
You're unironically claiming that every single Zelda game ever game is good while at the same time claiming you're not a fanboy. Ok.
what game has level scaling that works like this?
a more likely scenario is that you kill the final boss at some low level because it gets scaled down
>they're only showing off the best ones
no they're only showing off the ones in the demo area
dummy, it's literally been confirmed by the developers that there's over 100 shrines before, and a few hours ago the BotW guidebook was put on amazon with a description stating it'll help you find the 120 shrines (among other things). We've seen around 6 of the shrines already, and they were good designs.
Same. I've played Guerrilla's games and question if they are capable of making a compelling open world game. I don't play many zelda games but I know Nintendo is alot more capable of an open world RPG than Guierlla. If I had the dosh to preorder one, I'd probably get Zelda and wait for reviews on Horizon.
>no they're only showing off the ones in the demo area
Which is a slice of the game they want to show off.
You think if they have like 100 dungeons they'd show off the weaker ones? Of course not, their job is to sell their product. This time around it's even more important because if this new Zelda doesn't blow people away and get people excited then their new system will suffer directly since Zelda is basically the only game the system has for a long time.
>Also that is but one thing that points to the game moving away from quality and meaningful content/upgrades.
honestly with statements like that it just comes across that you're just reaching to find anything that looks bad in the game, whilst knowing fuck-all about it. In other words: you're a shitposter.
Also, you blatantly ignored the fact that my point was that those various mechanics in the combat gif were all working in conjunction with each other, as obviously they aren't themselves new mechanics to videogames as a whole.
>Less meaningful and satisfying content just to pad it. That's bad game design.
The truth is that most of zelda's "good" dungeons are "good" because they hide how shallow the core mechanics of the game really are with unique challenges.
Why does this one faggot keep making these threads?
blah blah blah
Skyrim Special Edition
>Did it ever occur to you that they're only showing off the best ones?
stopped reading there, Nintendo has no history of doing such a thing so its not a legitimate concern, if you honestly think so you don't know what you're talking about
That's obvious, it easily going to be the one you buy.
true, and breath of the wild finally fixed those shallow mechanics, the combat is actually good now, finally.
but those starting area ones were really weak, they later showed 2 outside of the starting area that are far larger and more involving. They also mentioned that the starting shrines are smaller than most of the others since they're basically tutorials. Do you expect them to just show off all 100 shrines before the game releases or something?
playstations have been the best console to own 4 out of 4 times.
nintendo are mostly retarded and their fans are brainwashed during childhood.
horizon will suck and zelda wont.
>playstations have been the best console to own 4 out of 4 times.
not really, ps3 was crap and so is ps4
this post was a wild ride
has anyone actually played it or are we just going on the videos here? most zeldas are just "rush and mash B" is that still viable? if yes then it's still shallow
I wont deny it will be fun, but probably not any harder than past zeldas
3 was crap but 4 is not.
>Negative, negative, positive
Is there a name for this type of shitposting? It almost never gets any replies, but I see it a lot and know its not a genuine post.
>honestly with statements like that it just comes across that you're just reaching to find anything that looks bad in the game
I'm commenting on things I don't like or that I'm sceptical about. I am not a supporter of quantity over quality design, especially in Zelda. One of the things I liked about Zelda is because they stuck to more meaningful content, upgrades, etc. and didn't fall into the trap many of these open world games did. Until now, that is.
>In other words: you're a shitposter.
This comment right here makes you come off as a close-minded fanboy.
>Also, you blatantly ignored the fact that my point was that those various mechanics in the combat gif were all working in conjunction with each other, as obviously they aren't themselves new mechanics to videogames as a whole.
So? Using this logic you can paint a "unique" picture of any game. I could do the same with say Shadow of Mordor.
If you actually just look at what he's doing he's just jumping and firing an arrow. I'm sorry if I find the fights and enemies in Horizon to be doing more interesting stuff where you can break off parts of enemies (to weaken them, just take that part, take that weapon and use it against the enemy, etc) or whatever.
I've played games since the C64 and what you're getting all giddy over with Zelda doesn't excite me at all since it all just feels like something I've already done a million times before.
it's kinda dumb that the rabbits from early game can still fuck you late even with your super cool robot power awaken and that laser nuke bow you freshly unlocked.
Fuck the game didn't need a stat system to being with. Just ad items to the inventory and that's it.
4 sucks ass
samefag still right tho
Diablo3. Fuck it makes leveling up from scratch retarded
>stopped reading there, Nintendo has no history of doing such a thing so its not a legitimate concern, if you honestly think so you don't know what you're talking about
This is borderline delusional fanboyism.
>but those starting area ones were really weak, they later showed 2 outside of the starting area that are far larger and more involving. They also mentioned that the starting shrines are smaller than most of the others since they're basically tutorials. Do you expect them to just show off all 100 shrines before the game releases or something?
I don't think that having over 100 shrines will result in the majority being good.
I'd rather they shaved off 50 or more and polish up the ones they had.
I prefer quality over a massive bloated quantity.
the point is to show how even someone like me thinks guerrilla games sucks.
>FANBOY!
>I literally can't find a single example.
Horizon
>inB4 le Ubisoft mechanic meme
Zelda also has that shit too. So fuck off.
Wrong.
>Bloodborne
>The Last Guardian
>Gravity Rush 2
>Nioh
>Senran Kagura Estival Versus
>Uncharted 4
>Horizon Zero Dawn
>God of War 4
>The Last of Us Part 2
>sucks
I see you prefer to fall back on logical fallacies and greentext.
You're actually saying that Nintendo would never market their game by prefering to show off the better stuff for such an important game like BotW while at the same time expecting to be taken seriously.
Sorry, but if you want to play the part of the fanboy then we're done.
worse than the ps3
the fact is that they've only shown the first area, you have no way of knowing that it's the better stuff in the game outside of conjecture
Regardless of actual quality Nintendorks will spam this board about how great and groundbreaking Zelda is. Both will probably be alright.
How so?
The only exclusives I remember really enjoying were Last of Us, Demon's Souls and Uncharted 2 and 3. Metal Gear Solid 4 was extremely disappointing and Catherine was ported to 360.
That was the only gen where I owned all three consoles and PS3 was probably my least favorite.
End yourself.
Almost assuredly Zelda.
I swear this meme never gets old and I say that as a Nintentoddler.
everybody knows TLG didnt live up to expectations from 9 years in dev hell, stop
>Uncharted
ecks dee
>unreleased games
that's a big shitpost, you got a permit for that?
>press x to cinematic cutscene of Alloy taking down a robot.
Saaaalllltt.
>the fact is that they've only shown the first area, you have no way of knowing that it's the better stuff in the game outside of conjecture
I'm assuming Nintendo has the brain to actually how off the stuff they have more confidence in than showing off just random stuff that can paint their very important game in a bad light.
I'm sorry for being reasonable and making logical conclusions.
In any case, are you claiming that most of the 100+ dungeons will be great? Really?
>has anyone actually played it or are we just going on the videos here?
many people have played it, it had booths at E3 2016, and the switch version has had numerous public appearances across the world in special events.
>most zeldas are just "rush and mash B" is that still viable?
definitely not - guardian enemies lock-in with a laser beam and cannot be damaged at all except for their eye seemingly (smaller guardian's lasers can be deflected with a perfect shield-parry counter attack, for example), Lizalfos camoflage with the environment now, the Steppe Talus miniboss requires Link to climb up and attack a crystal sticking out its back/head(?) (think like SotC); even the basic Bokoblin enemies can use the environment to attack you - like throwing explosive barrels, even ones the player put there, or taking their wooden clubs to fire (even if the player created said fire, doesn't matter) to provide more of a threat.
Also, the aforementioned guardian enemy deals 6 whole hearts of damage per laser hit. That's an insta-kill early-game.
>I'm commenting on things I don't like or that I'm sceptical about
such as?
Since you seemed to backpedal on your comment about the "100 dungeons" from earlier. Also, stop calling everyone a fanboy like some kind of fucking shitposter then, I don't even like zelda games as a whole, I'm mostly excited for BotW since I found out MonolithSoft have helped create the world, and all the gameplay footage I've watched of it looks really promising.
>If you actually just look at what he's doing he's just jumping and firing an arrow
but that's false, the player made the intentional decision to fire a fire arrow at the ground and use their glider to be able to get a clear shot of the Guardian's eye.
>I don't think that having over 100 shrines will result in the majority being good.
Well zelda games have a pretty solid track record for dungeons overall, so I don't think any of them will be outright bad designs
The Last Guardian was great.
Also I didn't mention games like NieR that will be getting a PC release alongside console exclusivity on the PS4.
Sounds like a lot of this coming from you.
Who are those faggots in the pic? Do they really have a Nintendo bias?
It was cancelled
