What went so right?
Sonic CD
It was just that good.

God tier level design.
I fucking loved the american soundtrack. Reminds me of a e s t h e t i c. Sadboys tier.

the economy was growing. Japan was healthy. Everything was better.
I'm playing it on my Amazon Fire tablet for free. It's okay. I don't know why people love it so much. It's just another Sonic game.
The levels, music, and boss fights were the best. Creative stuff like racing Metal Sonic.
>Playing it on that shit.
Are you fucking kidding me? Buy it genesis/sega cd after you travel back in time to the 90s to feel the nostalgia zone you newfag faggot.
>anything but the Taxman port on steam
Oh god no fuck off
Best art style and music.
The steam port is outdated. Only the mobile version is the most up-to-date.
>great level design
Wacky Workbench LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
People who complain about Wacky Workbench are bad at it. You jump on the platforms, its an easy level, miss and you're punished. Couldn't be simpler, user.
Definitely not the hallways leading directly into spikes.
Someone who plays that level for the first time will NOT be able to figure it out. Also
>get blasted super high
>have to jump below you on moving platforms but don't know exactly where they are and you fall super fast anyways
>hit floor
>spring way the fuck back up
Not good at all.
Yea if you were to beat it in one sitting and it was easy the game would be just over an hour long. All game devs did that kind of thing, its meant to be learned. If you just take your time its not a hard level. Rushing it carelessly causes endless loops of being launched in the air.
>jumping on precision platforms in a game about going fast
>good design
Even that's not fun since you've got the ridiculous spinning platforms and jumping off of them is a complete hassle in and of itself. Also the floor blasting you up could just lead into the shocking circuitry above, costing you all your rings, send you back to the floor, only to blast up and get cryo-frozen and lose a life.
Worst 2d sonic game by far
Sonic 1 & CD are the best aesthetically appeasing classic sonic games.
Its a game about platforming and controlling momentum. The game that focused on that the most was the first and Sonic CD was developed as a sequel. Speed was a marketing thing.
Well once I learned how the spinny things work I didnt mind them. I mostly breeze through the level now. Its too punishing but not the worst level by far, I even still enjoy it for the challenge of not fucking up.

Jumping from platform to platform has nothing to do with momentum, user

"muhmentum" is a meme defense used by nostalgiafags
Momentum was never a mechanic after Sonic 1. The spindash made any notion of needing to build up momentum completely nonexistent as you could go from 0 to fast instantly.
There are filthy poorfags in this thread RIGHT NOW who didn't own a Sega CD.
Their opinion is completely irrelevant.
How? Momentum affects how far and fast you jump. You need to speed up or slow down for different jumps and the gameplay is controlling that to stay on the fastest path of the level. You wouldn't say sonic standing still jumps as far as sonic jumping at full speed, right?
How does that contradict anything? If you just spin dash through everything youll die, controlling when to go fast and slow is essential and means the same thing as momentum basically. Im not even old, I grew up on Sonic Adventure, wise guy.
Anyone who was a teenager prior to 2010 is old
Here's mine
anime intro, mechasonic, sweet tunes
When you're forced to sit still on a tiny platform, momentum is not relevant. We're talking specifically about wacky workbench here, user
>controlling when to go fast and slow is essential and means the same thing as momentum basically.
Did you unironically just confirm you're using momentum as a buzzword and not to mean what it actually means?
Stop posting before you embarrass yourself further

> AESTHETIC CITY ZONE ACT 1
Would you play it?
Literally god tier soundtrack and art style, both up in my favorites of all time. Just the aesthetic and music of Palm tree Panic alone are goat.
Aside from that, though, I think 2 and 3 have better gameplay/level design.

NAME A SONG BETTER THAN THIS
PRO TIP: You probably can, all the songs in Sonic CD are amazing and choosing one song to be the best is probably impossible

Worst Sonic or best western sonic?

People born in 1999 will become legally adults this year
>those aesthetic as fuck special stage backgrounds
Seriously, why haven't there been proper levels built around them yet?
Why have almost none of special stages in the more recent titles been as fun or interesting?
literally one of the most boring choices, user
