76 sidequests could be shit fetchquests but the 120 Shrines definitely hype me up

I'll play it to completion and love every second. Give it to me now.
I can wait until March desu, pretty busy this period

sounds tedious

Breath of the Wild
Yakuza 0
2 Kingdom Hearts compilations
Ni-Oh
Persona 5
Bomberman R
Resident Evil VII
Nier: Tomato
Horizon: Zero Dawn

So many games guys. Zelda better not disappoint

I'm hype as hell for the game, but...

>Pick up a rock for your own purposes
>Control taken away as a cutscene of the Korok appearing loads
>"Oh hey you found me, lol!"
>You got a seed!
>Wait for jingle to end before you can finish prompt and are given control back and remember where you were taking the rock
>Remember you'll need to sit through that small but unskippable distraction 899 more times.

The side quests and dungeons seem find, but the 900 seeds are a bit overwhelming. Like, that just seems really silly, but I probably won't go for it unless it's required.

Do we know if it's unskippable after the first time?

It has to be, since you're receiving something. Probably the closest it'll get to skippable is the ability to hasten the speed of "lol you found me!"

I don't think you realize just how big this world is. Like, most of Red Dead Redemption could fit in the Hyrule Field section. That's how insanely huge it is.

NINTENDO WON

900 individual seeds? Part of me wants to believe it's going to be like Kingdom Hearts where you have to find the 101 Dalmatians, but they're always in groups

>900 Korok seeds mean there's 900 Koroks
>each Korok planted a tree which grew more Koroks and each of those planted more trees
>until eventually the Great Sea was drained

Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnope! A seed per Korok, my friend.

sounds like the shitty side ops from MGSV

>link! fill this bucket of water and bring it back to me!
>link! run to that cave and bring back the item i need!
>link! run to the next village and deliver this item!
>link! go collect 30 acorns and return them to me!
>and if you tire of these, there are plenty of sidequests for you to do as well!

Sounds like quantity over quality as a game design philosophy.

I'm pretty fucking sure 900 is a typo, and 90 sounds more in style.

I dunno, they got a lot of space to fill

>Thoughts?
Nintendo went full Ubisoft.
You never go full Ubisoft.

No dungeons?

archive.is/xB858
>You can get to the game’s first shrine, or mini-dungeon, in under 20 minutes. Franchise head Eiji Aonuma told me that he guesses that it might take an hour or so to get to the game’s first proper dungeon.

or maybe majora's tier side quests

Now post the quote where they talk about what a proper dungeon is and how BotW doesn't have themed dungeons with unique looks anymore, rather just larger shrines.

I know it's fuckhuge, but 900 is still a lot to go for. I just hope it's completely optional.

I can't because I've never heard that. You'd have to link me it.

Is it fair to call those who are going to 100% this game even human?

The same text OP got his info from (the description for the game's official guide) also mentions dungeons, and calls the shrines "mini-dungeons" to differentiate the two.

This is why open world memes NEVER FUCKING WORK. Dragon dogma was this, final fantasy 12 was this.

>thinking this even come close to actual completion games like Monster hunter

You'd think that No Mans Sky would have taught people size is not always what matters. It doesn't matter how much content there is, if that content is shit
>20 billion different planets to find
Yeah but it's all unfun trash

The fact that Ninty is hyping BotW by showing off how BIIIIG it is is extremely perturbing

>76 fetch quests
>120 dungeons reusing the same gimmicks over and over
>900 shitty collectables to find

>Thoughts?
How does that stack against Far Cry 4?

Don't know the full extent of the side quests, but I know what to expect from shrines and some of the koroks. This is pleasing news.
I just hope the main dungeons are well designed and unique. I don't want the main dungeons to look like all the shrine interiors.

HAha you are like a child, this will likely be an easy 100%

>That's how insanely huge it is.
That's how insanely empty it is.

Good.

Bad.

>900 of anything

Sounds like Ubisoft tier feature bloat.

It can't be as bad as XCX

Good.

But its Zelda.
It's gonna have proper enemies, dungeouns, bosses, items, plot
NMS had none of those and it was procedural shit

Google translated from French. Seems like the "dungeons" are just bigger shrines.

>Previously, for each dungeon, you start with a specific theme and object, such as fire and bomb, water and bow, and so on. Now that you have dozens of dungeons, how do you to keep the variety?

>There are more than 100 in fact! We no longer speak of "dungeons" but of "sanctuaries". If they had all been long and complicated, the players would probably never have finished the game, so we wanted them to be rewards rather than trials in themselves. The fun is greatly to the find , as some are very well hidden. They are very different from those of previous Zelda , though some are much larger and have a boss at the end of more traditional way.

>On the other hand, we do not do as before. If a temple was in a forest, it was made the dungeon of the forest. Now they are rather designed to make progress and Link are all built on a very similar basis, but using the engine physics of the game to offer challenging puzzles

lemonde.fr/pixels/article/2017/01/21/jeux-video-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-sera-un-moment-cle-dans-l-histoire-de-la-saga_5066750_4408996.html

that's a lot of shit
but the real question is...
can I kiss the Red Zora girl?

Kind of hope there's something cool rewarded to you for going the korok puzzles like a double helix sword or something. Also it's just occurred to me that this game would be perfect for having some kind of big foot npc like hide skull kid in there and make him watch you from a distance. XCX did that whole thing with the centipede creatures watching over NLA and it was creepy as fuck

What the fuck are these Korok seeds and why do you need them?

Do those Korok seeds have a function in game besides being collectable?

Just hoping for something neat when you've collected them all.

Don't be silly, they're just for the autistic cheevo fags and to make it sound like there's content.

nah son u missed the obvious
>collect 1 korok seed
>collect 10 korok seeds
>collect 20 korok seeds
>collect 50 korok seeds
>collect 100 korok seeds
>collect 200 korok seeds
>collect 400 korok seeds
>collect 650 korok seeds
>collect 900 korok seeds
there u go 10 quests already

Heard of the guy who did 100% on WOW?

Maybe a garden of korok seed
And each time you collect one it plant some flower to finally form Iwata's face

Ifthe koroks seeds are as annoying to find as the blood lobsters in XCX they can just forget it.

That just says 100 shrines. Doesn't say there will also be larger dungeons.
Also, if they all look the same inside, that metallic techno look, I'll be upset.

He seems to be talking about the shrines here, and how they are all high tech and a bit copy paste, and not the true dungeons. At least I fucking hope so.

I think when he says "some are much larger and have a boss at the end of more traditional way." he's not saying he counts those as "dungeons" but rather just bigger sanctuaries.

And in the second part, he's talking about how all sanctuaries have the same design.

I don't think he's saying that there are only sanctuaries. If he was, I don't see why he would've said there were "proper dungeons" a few months ago, nor would strategy guides say "dungeons and mini-dungeons"

Although it's a bummer if the "proper dungeons" DO end up just being large sanctuaries, at least they're not all tiny.

>tfw playing breath of the wild at 4k in cemu

the future is so bright i better hope im not blinded by the light

based on previous games there will be some kind of reward for completing the big collections
it'll probably be some kind of garbage, like a huge wallet or heart container. I'm praying that when they said they're fixing the mistakes from SS it includes mistakes the series has always had, like pointless money and big collection rewards that are fucking useless
hopefully it's an outfit

Oh wait.
>Some are much larger and boss at the end
That's what I get for skimming.

DESU My biggest fear with the game so far is that the proper dungeons will be the exact same theme as the shines.

monolithsoft already proved their salt in making large, interesting and beautiful landscapes. provided nintendo didnt drop the ball with filling in those landscapes with meaningful content, the game will easily be a 10/10 the pieces are there and the companies have reputations and histories. unlike indieshit by a bunch of nobodies, like they were the only ones to think of their ideas and that they are so easy to achieve, just for some reason no major developer has done it.

there's no way they're stupid enough to make that mistake
right?

Its pretty much my entire reason for hoping the colossi are not the dungeons.

I agree, dungeons were where a lot of creativity shined and if they just look like sanctuaries that will be lost

>We no longer speak of "dungeons" but of "sanctuaries"
>...we do not do as before. If a temple was in a forest, it was made the dungeon of the forest. Now they are rather designed to make progress and Link are all built on a very similar basis
Search your feelings. It's pretty cut and dry. Gone are the Forest Temple and Dragon Roost. Now is the return of copy/pasted dungeons.

I mean, we should have seen this coming back when Aonuma said they were drawing inspiration from the first game. We a dungeon crawler again.

At least they kept puzzles from LttP on.

>that dungeon entrance
The fanservice in SS was top-notch, I hope BotW follows suit.

Probably the one thing that has always pissed me off in Zelda games. Yes I know a blue rupee is 5, STOP TELLING ME RIGHT BEFORE THE FINAL FIGHT WITH GANON!

ss had a couple of really great moments, but fuck it was dragged down hard by its flaws
it's the only 3d zelda i just can't finish because it's so boring

Majora's mask's sidequest were a delight to do, even factoring in the fetchquests.

Fetchquests are only shit when the design is bad

>76 sidequests
some will be fun, most will be stupid. Expecting it to be like xenoblade

>120 shrines
neat, I like the concept of mini dungeons since WW/MM are my favorites and they have more minidungeons and less main dungeons

>900 korok seeds
if this sounds like what I think it is, planting seeds all over the world, then no fucking thank you

I agree, but the Cistern was neat so I used it as an example

The Zelda team wised up to this starting with ALBW, don't worry. They even took the repeating text out of TPHD.

How are they showing off how big it is?

Too many to have any character importance
It'll just be like ass creed side quests or some shit

I hope it isn't
but Im downplaying my enthusiasm like fuck, I don't want to get hurt again

I've already played a demo of the game, and it feels nice to move and do, but its the rest of the game I want to play.

ya

Everything about the volcano sucked dick, I don't know why it sucks so much, the dungeons are the worst in the game too

the forest is ok but loses points for tadoons/imprisoned. The dungeons are great though

The desert is one of the best places in any zelda games, god tier overworld/dungeons. too bad the pirate ship boss sucks as

also fuck the sky boring and empty, at the very least they could have proportionally had the same amount of stuff as WW but it's not even half that

It's definitely being marketed differently than those other games though
>skyrim: you can do anything! But you can't actually do anything, just look at how big the world it
>NMS: procedural universe! Infinite content! Lol what's gameplay?
>zelda: hey look at all this shit you can do. By the way it's a huge open world. Did we show you all this cool shit you can actually do?

>Imprisoned
Don't get me fucking started on that shit. FUCK the Imprisoned.

The very essence of >it's ok when Nintendo does it

>i didn't actually read the comments but here look at my memes

Disgusting.
>hard to find treasures with great loot > 500 chests with next to nothing in them

That's good to hear. I really should get around to playing ALBW.

No. It's like the skulltulas from OoT, except that this time you need to do some specific shit in order for them to appear.

fuck that's even worse

>more interesting content
>worse
I don't get you Sup Forums

Then don't do it, retard. It's just a cool regard for those who like to explore and try weird stuff in every single part of the map.

it's a fucking hunting mission but some stuff is locked behind triggers, sounds like a nightmare

>900 collectables
>more interesting
Show me one time this was ever done right.

Exploration is my #1 thing in games, it's why bloodborne/xenoblade X are my favorite games of 2015

but shit like this, especially fucking 900 of them drives me up a wall. so yeah I won't do them

collectables you have to work to get are more interesting that just stumbling across skulltulas is the point I'm making

Anyone who seriously thinks this might happen is either braindead or the biggest, worst kind of pessimist.

Cap this post.

>T-T-T-T-There's no real dungeons!
>T-T-There's only recolored S-S-Shrines!
>F-Full U-U-Ubisoft, r-right guys? C-Can't wait for the new Assassin's Creed...
>D-Do the Dew....

Then don't do it. It's optional content for people that want to do the game 100%.

...

have you not seen the videos? the dungeons look fun af

Collectables that are actually worth something and not so many in number, yes.
Collectables that aren't worth something and are huge in number, no.

This and are not doing it right. It's disgusting.

Now post the proof that your screen isn't an outdoor region with lava. Bonus points if you manage to ignore developer quotes directly contradicting your assumption (again).

>76 Sidequests
>120 Shrines
>900 Korok seeds
>Sheika Towers
Literally Ubisoft Tier game, enjoy your garbo.

you know those chests in windwaker with like 50 rubees in them when you pick them up? it would be probably like that

But user look at all that content.

You want content to fill your massive open world game right?

Bigger is always better right guys?!

The skultulas were some of the best collectables ever made in videogames and fit the design schema of OOT perfectly. No clue what you're on about.

Inb4 stupid retards call it a fetch quest.

You can literally see the ceiling of the area in the trailer.

If only the core gameplay was fun.
