Why does Nintendo do better graphics and art

...than all other developers?

Just look at this Zelda BotW mountain here. It actually FEELS high, there is a sense of scale in this picture.

Can you go underwater?

Meanwhile... other games don't really do it.

The only mountains in Witcher 3 that "feel" hgih are the ones in Kaer Morhen, and you can't climb any of those.

...

It's called composition, numbnuts

>Even bethesda games have better draw distance than BoTW
Really stimulates your prostate

Just look at this. They basically did this on Xbox 360 hardware back then.

At 60 FPS.

...

>meanwhile on equally strong hardware

That looks like San Andreas with a skybox mod.

How is the draw distance bad in this Zelda shot? You can see the waterfalls on the left side, you can see the fire of the volcano in the background, those weird pupped enemy monsters(?) to the right of it.

Do Sony fans get paid for shitposting?

Just how fucking desperate are you Nintendrones?

God i love that map.

Are those mountains to you, Op?

Those are large hills.

>Just look at this Zelda BotW mountain here. It actually FEELS high, there is a sense of scale in this picture.

Only Nintendo gets this right, desu.

Other devs don't do verticality. That's all. Nintendo (Monolithsoft especially) is just legitimately good at making vertical maps.

BoTW has insane draw distance. That's why it looks so ugly.

Although I'm convinced that it's more a problem with the way they're doing LOD than with the power of the system itself. Like, oftentimes even close stuff, which should and CAN look good in BOTW, just looks muddy and weird.

>just a hill
>still feels higher than mountains in other games

...

It's neither a mountain or a hill. It's a cliff.

Is that a mountain to you?

>The most obvious difference between a mountain and a hill is the name. Mountains are normally preceded by the term Mount, while hills do not typically have a formal identification. Hills are also rounder, softer in appearance and easier to climb. There is no standard method of determining if a large landform is a mountain or a hill, which makes their differences nebulous and difficult to identify. The United States and United Kingdom used to determine the two by height, but the height classification was abolished in the 1970s.

Looks very steep and hard to climb to me, i.e. a mountain.

There are far better example of Nintendo games and art direction, windwaker for example is one of the best cell shaded games I've ever seen

Breath Of The Wild's art direction is honestly kind of bad

>blizzard
>in 2004
>runs at 144FPS on intel core2duo found in a trash can in brazil

this thread is hilarious

>looks nice in the thumbnail
>those trashy textures in fullscreen

Its art is amazing and this thread isn't just about "here, look, colorful anime stuff." Otherwise you'd be right with Wind Waker and the legitimate shitgame you just posted. It's about the Japanese word "Ma", stimulating the player's fantasy and his sense for depth and scale.

Kinda ugly screenshot but it shows what I mean. This wooden thing or whatever it is feels huge.

This picture is the exact counterexample of mountains that look or feel high...

Keep this uninspired Jewzard shit out of here, please.

I really like that kind of cartoony artstyle, sly cooper had a similar level to this too.

Look like shit toy logs in a kids basket from 2004.

>Make a large open world with a long draw distance
>Fuck up the LODs so bad that the game looks like it's flat textures in most places

Well, thread ruined by literal retards who don't understand the point.

this looks simply amazing

yes

>Breath Of The Wild's art direction is honestly kind of bad
When it works, it looks really good, but there's just something about it which makes it look off 90% of the time.

It's the same problem No Man's Sky had - although NMS never really looked good. The land forms just look weirdly blurry and the lighting is all off. Even when you're standing right on top of a 3-polygon mountain which takes up the entire screen, the texture is still just, mushy, or something. And sometimes it all just weirdly comes together and you see what they were going for, and then other times it doesn't.

Literally zero sense of scale in this picture. The character model could very well be just as tall as the mountains and it wouldn't look weirder than it does in the first place.

Yeah that image you posted doesn't look good. Breath Of The Wilds artstyle is really just not good, it hardly has one.

Look at Tales Of Vesperia for example, this is a good artstyle..

Can't wait to climb all those handcrafted, huge mountains fighting some unique enemy on top of it or shit.

That's what you get when you start a thread with an ellipses, dummy.

Could it be that it has no sense of scale because the shot is taken from the same elevation as the cliffs themselves and not from the viewpoint that a player on the ground would have, you dummy?

No, blurry generic anime shit is not a good art style.

And BotW has literally the same shitty villages.

Oh hey it's that guy. Ask anyone what they think of when they think of a mountain and it won't be the piddly shit op is posting. Literally thinks a high cliff or hill is a mountain. Guess Halifax is the city of mountains eh. Hills everywhere. Didn't know I was a mountain man.

Eat a dick.

Why is grass just a flat texture in BotW?

this

No, the reason is that it's just a muddy, computer-generated piece of shit and you can even see "stretch marks" of it because it isn't even supposed to be this tall and the developer were too lazy to design unique assets for mountains.

No game really does mountains justice. XCX is pretty good but it's still not even close to enough.

Mountains are fucking huge. If you took the entire Skyrim map and turned it into one gigantic equilateral pyramid, you'd get something about the size of a small mountain.

Reminds me of no man's sky to be honest. Looks like a bland blurry mess. The characters admittedly look nice, especially Zelda. But those landscapes are awful.

You could ask this about any game in this world. Or at least 99% the games.

Yet you picked the one that actually has amazing grass in many places.

I am really not trying to start a flame war here but...

It's a mountain to (you).

>It actually FEELS high

Do you even realise how retarded that sounds?

Try Rockstar or Naughty Dog you fucking dingus.

>that fucking huge thing moving in the background

No developer does scale and art better than Nintendo.

Holy shit, this looks like horrible, generic cancer.

Well, some people are idiots and some aren't. If you can't tell the difference between handcrafted, unique locations and proper sense of scale and computer-generated shit like No Man's Sky, you are probably an idiot.

Not my loss.

This does look absolutely horrible in comparison

...

Where are the shots of amazing grass in BotW, then?

And that's a blatantly wrong statement. Many open world titles, including Bethesda games have actual grass and not just a green grass-like texture stretched over the ground.

Good example of a mountain done wrong. Literally zero soul, zero atmosphere, zero scale. Just a piece of shit you probably can't even climb and with nothing on top of it.

Horizon is confirmed generic, anyway: playstationlifestyle.net/2016/12/12/horizon-zero-dawn-ps4-will-harness-procedural-tech-to-render-environment/

...

Isn't it kind of sad the hand crafted environments you are so proud of look on par with computer generated trash?

.

>better draw distance
>even on a mid-tier build the land turns to pudding barely halfway through

Can't wait for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 I want it so badly

But it looks tall doesn't it?

>Where are the shots of amazing grass in BotW, then?

Videos, shots don't do it justice. It always moves, has great collison detection, actually reflects lighting properly, you can cut it, burn it etc.

>WOW. That ledge is HIGH. I can tell because it goes UP. It's like.... I can FEEL THE UP. Why can't other developers create things that go up?

this

>Xenoblade 2 trailer

Probably the king of scale so far. Blew me away.

ITT: Sonyggers continue to try and dump on Nintendo for their graphics when their own shitboxes just recently managed to get on par with my mid-tier pic from 4 years ago.

Zelda breath of the wild....... has an artstyle? This is news to me.

Why does this literally look better than everything on PS4? Can someone show a more beautiful PS4 or PC game?

Wtf?

Holy shit. That much of bloom hurt my eyes.

Why is the grass absent from almost every screenshot, then? Is the hardware so poor that they can only afford to create a few meadows here and there before their machine chokes?

It doesn't have actual collision detection. They are using the same as what the devs did for Bloodborne.

God, this looks like shit. Just a generic "le fantasy" tree with DOF and fucking gay Lego emos.

Are you an idiot? Are you that FFXV-kun guy?

Don't compare that From Software waggle grass to it.

this is a better spiderman game than any spiderman game on ps4

Mario Color Splash is artstyle perfection.
This looks like any MMO from 2002.

>Lego emos.

Looks pretty nice!

>This looks like any MMO from 2002.
Only if you are an idiot who doesn't know what he is talking about.

If you had a brain, you could cleary see the entire location is handcrafted, including those small cliffs on the mountain wall which most definitely have some hidden stuff on them.

This convinced me to buy a Switch ASAP. So long Shitstation 4.

>Why does Nintendo do better graphics and art ...than all other developers?

They don't though? And BOTW is probably the worst art direction in any recent game I saw.

this, only nintendo gets it right
pic is zelda running in REAL TIME on a wiiu

...

I am starting to understand why i shouldn't enter nintoddler threads.
They are simply tech illiterates who will deny facts when faced by them.

Actually the worst art direction is the bullshit you posted.

No sense of depth at all, and they contradict each other in style so horribly

This was my thought too upon watching the recent trailer.
Their animations and art direction far surpasses triple a games.
They may lack the raw power for textures and polygons but they have the talent.
Bethesda are hacks compared to them.

jesus this is ugly

>who don't understand the point.
What is the point? You are claiming Nintendo has better graphics and art than ''all other developers'' and this thread is people proving your wrong.

you dont know what good art direction is fool

did they go in-depth of what you can climb and what you cannot?
Im a huge autist, climbing is one of the top reasons I want that game
other is soundtrack. jesus christ that last trailer theme was amazing

>Lego emos.

Holy fucking shit rekt

The point of this thread is the sense of scale of the world.

Like mountains feel high, lakes are wide, etc

say goodbye to multiplats and final fantasy and dark souls ya dumb nintendildo

>minimalistic with lack of detail
>very good or even one of the best, let alone the best
pick one

And he is at it again comparing rocks. Where is that guy who gets a boner from good looking water? Where is that one fetishist who likes his hd textures?

WHAT ABOUT GAMEPLAY MOTHERFUCKER? I DONT GET A BONER byLOOKING AT MOUNTAINS....

this looks better than Zelda desu

IIRC you can climb everything except smooth dungeon walls in the shrines

I expect limits in dungeons too

you can climb literally everything but not at the start cause your stamina will be shit and stuff

Maybe. We don't know yet. The presence of zoras suggests its an ability you earn after doing a quest for them.At least I fucking hope so.

Can we all agree that developers are shitheads that focus on the wrong things?

>tech illiterates
>Posts a ps4 exclusive

Okay nig-nog
