I've been replaying all the mass effects and the jump from 1 to 2 is so noticeably different it's like a new series. Then 2 to 3 seemed like sequels.
Ones writing wasn't fantastic but it's clearly the best. Just looking at some of the pacing of conversations and the actual dialogue from one to two. In one paragon and renegade aren't "I'm mother theresa" or "I'm the fucking devil" it's more nuanced in terms of being xenophobic. Or out for yourself, or cold hearted toward death.
But in two and 3 renegade is Donte levels of fuck you and even then there was one part where a Volus accused a quarian of stealing his money. Renegade would of been not giving a shit about this petty squabble. Instead paragon is telling the Volus and the human cop to fuck off and apologize to the poor picked on quarian.

Mass Effect 2 is so out of place in its role as part of a trilogy.
They invented a new self contained story, and we begin exactly where we end. The Reapers are coming and they're slightly nearer now. You could skip it and not miss a thing.
I dunno why, but I really like electronically altered voices like this. Always gives me chills.
Also like the Turian voices in Mass Effect, with that flanging effect.
