What did you think of the Weeb Souls demo?
What did you think of the Weeb Souls demo?
Preordered after beating Muneshige
>apparently this was the worst demo
>I still loved it
It almost felt like playing Dark Souls for the first time again. I really like the stances and the Ki system. Pretty hyped senpai
Would be better if dodge was bound to circle and you could dodge while holding down R1.
good goy
I honestly don't understand why console games never allow you to rebind controls
Seems like a pretty basic function to put in
The controls for switching and dodging are just not intuitive. You want to switch to light stance to dodge with minimal Ki usage and to do this you have to press R1+X and and then let go of R1 and press X to dodge, and at the end of the dodge you then switch (or don't) to whatever stance you want, which means you'll have to press R1 again. If dodging was bound to circle and it worked while holding R1 it'd eliminate a lot of unnecessary steps in a whole bunch of situations. The controls are just not elegant the way they are now.
Too difficult for a casual like me, but I'm getting the hand of it. I just got killed by water while trying to dodge a yokai so I'm just resting a bit before I try again.
the game is GOTY the demo is boring if you played the beta since like 90% of the skills are locked.
then go into ps4 setting and swap X with O, its not perfect but it works, i usually swap dodge to R1/L1 so i can dodge and move camera at same time
Reminded me I was bad at video games and convinced me not to buy it.
Cool game though.
Learn to Ki pulse user. Every time you don't Ki pulse you're throwing Ki/stamina down the drain. Alway Be Ki Pulsing.
Usually that just gets you hit
I found it difficult to get good ki-pulses against fast enemies when I played through it, only real pulses I got were the dodge pulses from high stance with uchi
I pre ordered it. Not sure if I'm going to regret that or not. I like Souls games, but didn't care for Ninja Gaiden. That Tachibana guy handed me my ass for hours. I tried to go back and see if I could beat him again and no dice. If bosses get much tougher than that, I'm not sure I'll be able to beat it.
How? Ki pulses take like a second to do. If you're hitting an enemy with a combo or single hit and they are immediately attacking back you're doing something wrong.
I honestly have bigger issue with not being able to attack and move camera at the same time. There's just too many functions to have them all bound to a shoulder button.
It was okay i guess. Played trough demo last night, but wasnt very impressed. Combat was bit blergh and weapons dull.
the PS4 system allows you to rebind the controller buttons if I'm not mistaken
Oni and Yokai usually don't stagger when you hit them, which means if you hit then pulse you get fucked
Fucking souls niggers.
I didn't have much time playing it because I was busy with GR2. I'm kinda disappointed, the alpha blew me away with that first stage and for some reason it's still the best one. Not because it was hard but the way it was build up. The other new stages were all worse than that particular one, they felt smaller and more linear than the first stage and also visually less impressive. The boss in this demo also felt more like a souls boss than the others we had so far. Like that thunder cat piece of shit or the vampire bitch had low health but very fast moves, the oni bitch had a massive health pool and was slow as fuck most of the time so you basically just hugged her belly and massacred her while you only had to dodge 2 attacks of her. Honestly the tengu youkai felt more like a nioh boss than the ogress.
pc port when?
Most of the Yokai are really slow. So you just hit them with one big swing and dodge. Unless your taking about those bird fuckers. Either way you should either be Ki pulsing when it's safe or dodging (and you should have the skills which let you Ki pulse when you dodge). Otherwise you just run of of Ki and get fucked.
I have't figured out the fucking leveling system, I don't know what to level up, or if I should level up at all. Other than that I'm in love with the game, played for 9 hours, taking a break just now.
How mad are you user?
I think I made a mistake by going uchi, the pulse on dodge is tied to high stance there, and medium stance has most of the good swings
Not a fan. I've played all the DS and BB, but to me the combat just isn't as good. They've spent so much time on what I feel is gimmicky shit like stances and ki pulse that it takes away from the combat for ME.
Yeah I went dual uchi and never went back. Near infinite Ki. Feels good.
You can rebind both PS4 and Xbox One controllers via the system menu now. It's not practical at all since it will apply to all games, and you have to change it to play something else, but at least you have the possibility now.
Pathetic. You miss out on so many games with that mindset. Why don't you just get good?
enjoyed it immensely. Day one buy for me
I beat Ogress and then immediately got my shit pushed in by Muneshige. I like the Ki Pulse mechanic, I just wish the particle effect were a little more apparent since it's a little obnoxious to glance at my stamina bar after every combo.
I'll probably pick it later this year.
Like what, Mr Hardcore Gamer?
A little too easy. Don't even mean that in the try hard way, just didn't seem like there was much depth to the enemies or level design.
Maybe it's because I didn't play the past Betas and Alphas (I hear they were harder and better) but I just didn't enjoy this that much.
Completed it relatively easily. That Ogress boss was laughable mechanically speaking, you just hug her stomach and wail away and she's meant to be the 4th or 5th boss in the game. The Samurai boss was a little more difficult but at the same time, not really. He just felt more boring as all you had to do was kite him and drain his Ki down.
Bosses = 4/10
Combat = 6/10 (better mechanics than Souls imo but sadly, the enemy movesets and overall variety made it pretty damn boring)
Level design = 3/10 (what level design?)
Difficulty = 4/10 (felt like a more casual Bloodborne)
Armor designs = 10/10 (loved the Armor designs in the game)
Weapon variety = 9/10 (same as the Armor designs, great variety and aesthetics)
Overall, solid 6/10. Will probably be a better Souls clone than Lords of Fallen but it will probably be literal who tier within a month. Too much style over actual substance.
>souls
>substance
lol
I play video games to relax. Every once in a while something like Nioh is fine, but I am not feeling it right now. I loved Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne, they took me forever to actually beat though, maybe I will try Nioh out during the summer if I have more free time to get good.
t. Means regards, it's foreign internet slang!
>he thinks nioh is hard
Haha
That fag gave up on the game because it was too hard for him, when it's not even a hard game in the first place. Try some actual hard games, JP rhythm games and bullet hell shmups.
Somewhat short. Easier than Alpha and Beta.
Easier than the other 2 demos, but still fun.
I hope that the final game has more weapon classes and fixes weapon balance a little bit.
After what felt like banging my head against a wall for hours, I beat Muneshige today, went into the twilight mission and beat the boss in my first try. This demo was a lot shorter and easier than the other two.
>Try some actual hard games, JP rhythm games and bullet hell shmups.
No thanks You can keep attempting to validate your life by playing "actual hard games" though.
Fucking kill yourself.
>ha ha
>not even hard
>ha ha
>look at me how good I am
>ha ha
>git gut
>ha ha
Was awesome.
Plays way better than any souls game I played, but to be fair I only played 2, 3, and bloodborne.
I much prefer Nioh over all of them for a fuckload of reasons, mainly that I haven't died from any cheap bullshit and the pacing is far, FAR superior, at least in this demo. Perfect ammount of shrines spaced just the right distance from one another.
Someone post the webm of one shotting the samurai nigger with fist
>nioh thread
>just 10 shills and a bunch of ds memefaggots replying to each other
>there he is
>a poor guy with his shill paranoia
I was waiting for you :3
>to be fair I only played most souls games
>weeb souls
>souls is already weeb default
???
>mobawatch player this butthurt his game is dead here
lul
...
Incorrect. Souls games are based on western lore. Niou is about a white Geralt clone praying at shinto shrines.
>JP rhythm games and bullet hell shmups
I think I'll pass. I don't want to lose my remaining neurons playing braindead weeb crap.
Well apparently aside from bloodborne the other 2 were the worst.
Every thread I've ever seen on souls heralds Demonsouls and DS1 to be the best titles of the series, with Bloodborne either being just above or just below them depending on taste.
Didn't really care for bloodborne, like I said I hate dying in cheap bullshit ass ways and running back to where I died, which was 80% of the game for me.
Never felt it was worth my time to "Get gud" if I'd still be wasting most of it backtracking by dying to poor hitboxes, ambushes, and cheap bullshit.
Nioh has none of that and even deeper combat to boot.
Another example of a meh game over hyped by sonyfags.
It's a shit darksouls with shitter level design than DS2.
>It's a shit darksouls with shitter level design than DS2.
It's really bad desu
Sorry you're not getting it on PC, friend.
Literally GOTY
I'll never play dark souls again, I can't, this game raised my standards, even bloodborne which used to be my favorite game feels clunky now
Already played the best versions of it m8, try again.
>Bloodborne
>Poor hitboxes
Nigga what?
You should just become a movie buff instead, that would suit you better! I believe in you user!
You are very original.
Haahaha xD How triggered can one man be?
>my 3d waifu in the game
dousio
>multi replying
heh try containing your asshurt senpai
It's great, it builds on the souls formula really well.
I did this as well
She also voiced the heroine in DQ Heroes 2
wew
pretty disappointing with the changes to stances, beta was better
>souls formula
>great
lul
It's really good. It takes the soul formula, but then builds on it with skills and abilities. And the ki burst dodging is awesome. Same as Ki Burst Flux into a combo into another Flux Combo.
When you have a few different skills and can Flux Combo into another Flux Combo, the combat goes pretty cuhrazy.
I thought it was OK. I like the setting and monsters but the combat seemed a little clunky at times because every human enemy blocks all the time and the guard break moves seem to suck. I started liking the game more once I unlocked some ninja tools and magic to fuck around with but getting those things spread my stats too thin and now Muneshige is a bitch to fight. Dude's like Shao Kahn, he seems to break certain rules that the player can't ignore and that makes fighting him face-to-face more tedious than anything.
...
Kek
I got 313 attack lvl 31 kusarigama. Anyone got a higher one?
>Having trouble beating Muneshige
>Can get him down to 20% or so health normally but inevitably I die to some bullshit
>Try that meme bare-handed parry kill
>Beat Muneshige within seconds
I feel like I cheated. I want to go back and have an HONOBORU DUEL but I'll just wait for the full game to come out.
>ps4 exclusive
it looks fun but im not buying a ps4 only for this and bloodborne
You didn't cheat, you cheesed.
after doing my best to get him to like 20% I discovered that, because of lack of scaling with shiggy, even at level 18, my HQ 1kat did the same damage to him as a wooden sword in the previous demo at lvl 1.
Fuck him, he should be dead. I'll make sure to cheese his has when the game comes out. Save honor for PvP.
Ok guys I just got this shit downloaded and is about to go FUCKING FAST through this shit. What do i need for the dank ogre mask?
>PvP
>honor
Just compete the first mission, no need to finish the twilight one or the duel with shiggy to get the mask.
>heh
Wtf
where can you unlock the unarmed parry?
Stuck on the final demo boss. REEEEEEEEE!
I can't ge into souls because It has no direction, I feel like I'm just killing things because they're there. I'm not reading item descriptions to understand the basics of the story.
Nioh actually has characters and a story.
If I had a dollar for each "I'm not buying a PS4 for just one game" and "wow finally the ps4 got it's second game" I'd be richer than notch.
Even Bloodborne?
>Chain weapon
>Hold Square to pull yourself to enemies or pull them to you
>Fighting Yokai on twilight
>Don't even need to dodge anymore, hooking to them makes me leap over their shit 90% of the time
Didn't know this was going to be Spiderman Souls
Just summon a bro nigga
Well mustards are plentiful and extra salty all the time.
I had to drop it because I had no idea what was going on. Why did I get a password to open a door after defeating Amelia? I don't know and everyone is too vague. Thank god Nioh is straight-forward.
Ninjutsu tree
Nioh is my most anticipated title of the year but holy fuck was this demo garbage
>Shitloads of abilities locked off instead of letting you experiment
>Ogress jumping causes the camera to shit itself
>Map layout is poor with one half of the map holding 3/4 shrines
>Mune goes from OP asshole to cakewalk by just grabbing a few pieces of armor and a sword from the twilight mission
>Drown in a fucking pool of water because the graphics make it hard to tell if it's water you can stand in or a fucking ocean right in front of a waterfall
>Fighting Oni
>Instant claw attack at mach speed with no indication of it coming if you stay close range
>If you stay at medium range he does the one-shot overhead club attack that literally hones in on you even if you move behind him.
Yep. This is a souls game alright. I see they didn't get the hint with the first beta and just kept all the bullshit in
Which enemy are you even talking about?
Sounds like somebody needs to get good. Neither of those things are a problem if you can dodge properly. Bait and punish with heavy attacks, learn to pulse properly and stop whining like a little bitch.
I only have 2 summoning cups left.
Fair enough. Bloodborne's story tends to be a lot of looking back and making connections after the fact--to the point of madness. It's a nice fedora tip to its Lovecraftian roots in that manner.
IIRC, there's a note in cathedral ward saying that the password is an old healing church adage.
When you kill Amelia and touch Laurence's skull, you get a flashback to a conversation between Willem and Laurence. They end the conversation by saying "Fear the old blood", which is the adage.
Anyhow, you're autistic if you're capable of dropping a gamplay-driven game because you're too dumb to connect the dots.
Such a great explanation to help others see the brilliance, then you go and bully. Why? Be nice, user.
>:)
