Another crash.

When was the first?

In 1983.

Don't you mean when were the first and second?

Oh wait underage.

No. The gaming industry was at one of its strongest points at that time.

Personally I hope it's real and that kid grows up to be a serial killer of furries.

The gaming industry has never crashed.

Meme magic.

No, nintendo had a boom after the recessive period from 83 to 85.

That's the second crash.

Hahaha.

i would throw him out a window any day

Oh there was another before? My bad.

Nintendo is not the gaming industry.

dont they usually do a pretty good job of offing themselves?

Explain how the gaming industry crashed, then. Because there has never been a gaming crash.

1977

video games did crash for a bit during the early 80s thanks to atari fucking everything up and having only shovelware available on their console.
im sure arcades were still doing ok i guess. and pc gaming literally didnt exist yet

Nope. The American pong console market is not the entire gaming industry.

In a two year period the industry revenue tanked 95% and the vast majority of companies went out of business while consumer interest in gaming was at (even still to date) an all-time low.

But no, you're right, that's totally not an economic crash, 14-year-old-friend.

not good enough

It was the market in the US, UK and Japan. And it wasn't just the Pong clones. The arcades also took a huge hit.

Atari was nothing outside the US. The "gaming crash of 1983" was just the North American home console market crash. Consoles, like the SG-1000 and Famicom were doing well in Japan, the Japanese and American arcade markets were still strong and while PC gaming was non-existent, the home computer market was booming in Europe and, to a lesser extent, America, with the C64, ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC and a large pool of game coders.

Only in America and only consoles.
UK and Japanese markets were not effected. You're pulling this out of your arse.

...

That's because all other markets other than the US before the Master System and the NES came out were negligible. Before then the industry was dominated by Atari and it was a mostly US domestic company.

The American home console market was dominated by Atari, but they were limited to the American home console market and a small share of the American and European home computer markets with the 800 until the ST in 1985, which was a much greater success. They did not dominate the gaming market. The closest any machine came to dominating gaming at that time was the C64, which fared poorly in Japan.

>Only in America
>only
Are you retarded or what

That's not what i said, i meant to that the gaming industry did indeed reach one of it's strongest points, but only after the crash of 83, with nintendo as a dominant force.

That is one market of many, yank.

No, one of its strongest points was the boom of 1982/3 on home computers. Nintendo fared well in Japan and the US, but when the Nes landed in Europe in 1987 it was primitive and outdated.
If you're only going to talk about the US market please specify. Don't act like America is the world market.

I guess i just don't know enough about the subject.

>this ancient post so old it's livejournal
>literally, "DEFENESTRATE_ME"
Golly.

No, but Nintendo saved it.
Maybe that SJW whore will win the seat in congress, then she can become Queen Sperglord Of Gaming and tell the gaming industry what type of games to make.

Saved what? The only thing struggling was the American home console market and the Nes was a Japanese console. The American home console market was the only thing that crashed in 1983.

The whole gaming industry crashed in the usa, nintendo make it great again, but you probably wern't alive back then and go by other's stories.
Underage detected!

The "problem" with video games is that the people talented and dedicated enough to create them don't give a feather or a fig about the politics. They're gonna make what they want to make. If feminists want more video games that cater to their ideas then they need to make them.

Arcades and home computers were doing well in the US at the time while Europe and Japan were in boom periods.

Yes until the crash, moron.
What's your point?, I don't care. I am neither eurotrash nor a nip.

Only the US home console market crashed in 1983. Everything else, including American arcades and American home computers continued unaffected.
