Mine: hurr durr let's troll people in games or on game forums. grow the fuck up already or get that ass banned
>disliking 2D
>disliking turn based combat
I think only underaged twerps hold these opinions.
i dont get mad by opinions
basically anything you read on Sup Forums
>99% hit chance
>miss
>enemy has 1% crit chance
>lands crit
uninstall.exe
>game forums
ah those were the days
>(x) is clunky
You only say this when you can't think of a reason to hate something
As a lover of strategy games and especially realistic and historical strategy games, turn based is cancer if it is "igougo" style. It's shit and extremely obsolete. "WEGO" style is superior. But real time will always be superior.
>trust nobody, not even your cameraman.
Your hit chance is not the only value in the equation. It's calculated against the dodge chance of your opponent.
I try not to but I always get mad whenever someone tries to bring politics into vidya
>hurrdurr if you like game with boobs you objectify women
>hurrdurr if you like game with a tranny in it you're from tumblr
Everyone needs to fuck off with that shit and keep vidya a neutral ground.
>ALL of Mass Effect 3 was terrible.
This just isn't true. I agree the ending was bad. I also agree that, at times, the conversations were too linear.
But Tuchanka is the peak of the franchise. That mission alone has so many permutations, major decisions, and different endings. It's character-driven and engaging. Does it make the bad ending worth it? I don't think so. But the game wasn't 100% bad head to toe.
>fo3 is better than New Vegas
Fucking normie scum needs hard hitting narrative or the won't play a game
>"MGSV has the worst gameplay in the series"
nigga...
>[Game] was great when it came out, but it's shit now because it aged poorly!
t. was not born when the game came out.
>western characters are more complex than jap ones
This. By definition, games cannot age and anyone saying otherwise is an underaged faggot.
> Skyrim > Witcher 3
Skyrim does everything, except maybe exploration much, much worse than The Witcher 3.
>Mature games for mature gamers
fuck off with your kiddie shit
Said the two underage faggots.
Many mechanics age badly because they were so terribly improved upon later thanks to technology.
But hey atleast you get to feel superior to others, right?
Skyrim mods though. Adds a ton of replayability.
*tips fedora* yeah those fucking kids just cant appreciate retro games, bros *brohoof* +1
Gimmie my chance after the opponents dodge chance then.
You got a point.
Name one previously good game that automagically got shit later on, compatibility problems don't count.
Nah m8. Its tougher getting into older games. Are they bad games? Not really no they were great at the time but its tough going back to older games after all the quality of life improvements added.
>not noticing someone pressing the barrel of a gun into the back of your head
He deserves it.
Stalker is a good series
>3D Zelda is bad
>Zelda formula is stale
I hate this shit so much, especially on other sites like IGN where they praise far more mediocre and disgustingly repetitive games, like Assassin's Creed and Elder Scrolls.
The idea of exploring areas using items to clear out paths, or going into dungeons, getting an item, doing some puzzles and then defeating a boss using said item is a good design. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's far more engaging than simply walking everywhere and fighting corridors of enemies and a boss who is just another enemy but slightly bigger.
And these special snowflake fucks repeat this diarrhea so much that it actually gets back to the developers in Japan and alters the development of the game. Holy shit it makes me mad. I'm so fucking sick of reading interviews where the thick-framed hipster faggot demands Aonuma to explain why Link isn't female. It wears down on the guy, and it feels like he doesn't get to hear what the majority of fans feel.
This. The old games don't get worse, your expectations of a functional game change.
Go back and push blocks around ever so slowly for "puzzles" in action games if you want to feel what aged mechanics feels like.
>hurr durr let's troll people
I am certain that almost all cases of "trolling" going on is idiots just having shitty though genuine opinions.
which game?
Pokémon Red and Blue
I don't need to mention a game if you played any between 95 and 2005.
Literally everyone says its the best gameplay in the series. The problem is the garbage map and repetitive missions
I see you've never been to gamefaqs.
>The use of the word "comfy" to defend a game
Don't get me wrong, when people first started using comfy, I liked the idea. There are areas in certain games that do feel comfy. But a whole game can't be comfy, nor is it a real point to defend a game. Yoshi's wolly world isn't comfy just because it's made of yarn.
Comfy is misused so much that you can't even tell what people mean when they use it.
I played a fuckload of games from 95-05 and I can tell you that they still hold up just fine.
It's pretty obvious you are an underage faggot who got too used to the brainless crap for ADHD kids nowadays.
>DQ8 english dub was terrible on the PS2! muh olde english! I'm glad they're finally adding japanese VA's on the 3DS version, 12 years later! I've waited so long for the definitive edition!
GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I HATE YOU NIP WORSHIPING FAGGOTS SO MUCH
I know this will fall on deaf ears on a japanese hiragana training facility like this board but come on sub vs dub is incredibly childish and makes you look like a fucking race traitor
So convincing, mr.bornin95.
>garbage map
Please explain, I might misintepret this.
>repetitive missions
Yeah I agree with this, following the Peace Walker format hurt it. It worked for a portable game, but not really for an AAA console game. The game should have been basically Ground Zeroes 2 instead of Peace Walker 2 in terms of mission design and gameplay loop.
That would kinda have made the game play it a bit too "safe" though.
You do, in your next round.
I think you misinterpret what hit chance means. Hit chance means the probability of you connecting your hit, forcing the enemy to do his dice rolls. Usually the enemies and player characters use the same Stats model (unless the dev is a masochist), so the enemies face the exact same problem as you do.
Have you ever played Hentaiverse? My character had a hit chance of 120%. That still doesn't mean that every attack of mine does damage, because the monster can block/dodge/resist whatever. But so does my character.
>Loll >liking DaS2 lol what r u fagget its the worst hoho am i fitting in lol right guys we hate 2
Its personally one of my favorite games ever. I know theres a difference between favorite and best and I accept that but the shit you people complain about, you're looking too hard and just trying to bitch. Get the sand out your vag and have some fucking fun
This, but some of the dislike is justified because devs won't add features to turn based combat that has been around since D&D and won't streamline the UI experience. The biggest one being movement, outside of an SRPG. And comical visceral detail is another plus of turn based combat that rarely makes it into modern video game RPGs.
>skyward sword is a good zelda game
It has nothing what defined past zeldas, even tp while lacking a lot of things was better than that shitfest.
I'm fine if you like SS but it is an insult to true fans really.
>Ranked is all that matters for LoL/OW/Dota
Yeah okay, get mad that you'll drop to bronze/2k MMR/whatever OW has and not realize you're not having fun anymore to get imaginary titles of "Who gives a fuck?".
By garbage map I mean, the map is too big with a whole bunch of little outposts that are kind of the same, and some bigger ones. Ground Zeroes did it right, a lot packed into an area.
You have to admit that some (most) dubs are fucking horrible
>PS4 games don't count because you can play them on PS3, btw I'm sooooooo hyped to play Zelda on Switch.
Honestly I was just thinking of Xcom when you said that.
>garbage map
For the most part it was really empty. I played the game until the end and for the life of me I can't think of any environment that stands out besides the fucking hospital that was sooooo good I got to play it twice.
It is literally impossible to have fun playing a MOBA, so what else is there beyond your rank?
>Whaaaaaa, fighting games have too much DLC
>MGSV is a disappointing shit fest
>OMG the Witcher 3 is sooooooo gooooood
>Overwatch is overrated garbage. I'll stick to TF2 thank you
Yeah, I'm not so sure about XCOM to be honest. I think they calculate the dodge% right into your prediction value (you know, "50% hit chance" while standing right in front of them).
Outside of Sup Forums I usually hear this from people who went back and replayed a game they grew up with. Granted they're usually love it or hate it titles like Sonic Adventure 1&2.
>defending DLC and Overwatch
neo-Sup Forums never not manages to fail to not disappoint me
You don't need to go for "no true fan", the foundation of the gameplay is motion controls which are objectively bad game design.
By the way,
>Gaming journalism and professional reviewers have a single shred of credibility and you should not disregard absolutely everything they say or do
Fuck I was googling those terms for like ten minutes before I realised you were saying
>I go, you go
>We go
Fucking this
I agree most dubs are shit but I'm not obsessed enough to track down some fandub of an obscure anime or game from the russian darknet just to prove I'm a REAL weeb.
much worse
>I think reviews should be objective truth, because I don't realize they're just opinions
>Bashing witcher 3
I too like to be contrarian.
Turn based combat is fine
Turn based combat where characters have a stat that lets them take more turns is absolute cancer
>There's nothing wrong with a 1 sec delay between input and action
Reviews are subjective, aren't they? I feel a lot of people just throw the word "objective" around. These words too:
>optimization
>coding
>assets
>textures
>IP
you are a literal retard
Not really vidya, more Sup Forums related.
Why are there so many oldfags here who don't even like games anymore? Fucking get off my board or kill yourselves already instead of whining about >muh golden age.
Why? It encourages the player learning to use the weaknesses of their opponents to their advantage. What is your problem with that?
I assume you mean SMT when you write that.
If you ask me, yes. But a lot of people on Sup Forums don't share my viewpoint.
Not that guy, but Witcher 3's combat is absolute garbage
wording this post
Fucking this.
Why do you cucks keep missusing the word weebs? It doesnt mean anything anymore because of you tards
JRPGs, and some poorly run D&D campaigns, just ruined the first style with padded design and number wank. In tabletop each round is happening in a matter of seconds or less. These games dealt with small relatable numbers, not big inflated numbers and things rarely went on longer than 10 turns. Ironically to make it work again you'd need to go backwards to its point of inspiration/origin.
>Fallout: New Vegas is good
>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen has great combat
I don't understand why it is SO BAD to dislike games for kids on the chins? It's just a preference, I grew out of Yoshi's Wooly World-tier games a long time ago.
So many manchildren here.
>turn away from ledge
>slide off
Almost quit the Nioh beta right there
Not my fault you have ADHD
Comfy is just a synonym for degenerate around here.
It really isn't. It's not extremely good but 'absolute garbage' is a big hyperbole.
>Its tougher getting into older games.
Any game that you don't pull out of a bin for $1 at a flea market isn't any kind of task to get into. Super Mario World, Tetris, Ocarina of Time, etc acclaimed older games are all as easy to pick up and play as they were the day they came out. The only time you're going to find old games that are hard to get into is if you're straying off the beaten path into more C-list games like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein for the SNES or whatever and at that point you might as well just say bad games are hard to get into because those games are still being put out today.
>clunky
Why can't people just outright say what they don't like, with actual examples?
Something like:
>Well the time between the button press and action is too long and feels sluggish
No no they always resort to buzzwords like that.
No, the SMT/Persona knockdown system is great.
I'm talking about systems where each character has their own "turn meter" that you have to wait to fill up before they take their turn. It's a shitty hybrid mechanic that just combines the worst parts of real-time and turn-based.
heh yeah i agree.....im too old for that childish shit...............i need dark games...............dark like my soul.......................
If you think games like yoshi are something you "grow out of" then you can't be older than 14. Prove me wrong.
Compare it to like, literally any other ARPG, and it's garbage.
It doesn't matter how big the numbers are. Jesus you're an idiot.
If the enemy has 6hp and I do 1 damage per hit, how many times do I need to hit him until he dies?
Now, what if he has 6000 and I do 1000dmg?
>I'm talking about systems where each character has their own "turn meter" that you have to wait to fill up before they take their turn
There arent that many of them though, are there? I cant even really think of any examples
To be honest, 'clunky' can be a general impression of a game that is often true to some degree that is hard to really split up into specific aspects of the gameplay.
>when people don't understand the different between the "game" (the collection of scripts and codes with which the player can interact via input to have outcomes based on the rules of the code and the inputs of the player) and the "video game" (the collection of scripts and codes with which the player can interact via input to have outcomes based on the rules of the code and the inputs of the player as well as the graphics which represent them, and optionally the music which accompanies it, narrative the developer has decided to put in)
>misuses cucks
>"d-don't misuse weebs!"
>Weeb/Weeabo: Someone who is obsessed with Japan/Japanese Culture/Anime, etc. and attempts to act as if they were Japanese, even though they're far from it.
What part of trying to embrace japanese culture as your own to an obsessive degree by watching/playing everything in subs, collecting japanese figurines, amiibos, every collector's edition, lusting after 2,000 year old dragons in 10 year old bodies, defending Sony/Nintendo, and shitposting on jp doesn't make these people weebs?
Tell me what it means you weeb faggot so you can go back to sucking ramen soup out of Long Dong's 2inch dick.
I think he means the ATB system of FF7,8 and 9, also Chrono Trigger.
Yeah, no. Every bethesda RPG has worse combat for example.
"Zelda is a good game series"
It blows my mind that adults still pretend like this game has any depth or anything positive gameplay wise.
It has been the same fucking game since OOT which was already an overrated game. How many times can you play the same exact game with the same exact story and characters.
inb4 durr hurr X IS THE EXACT GAME EVERY TIME
WELL THAT SERIES BLOWS TOO
>misuses cucks
>gets mad over someone else misusing another word
haha
I guess I should move the goalpostsa little, I mean third-person hack/slash sort of ARPGs.
Literally every game that has "random" chance manipulates it against the player at some ratio in order to induce challenge.
I didn't want to call it shit until I knew that it will trigger you. Nostalgia for shit doesn't make shit taste better.
>proving my point
nice
But Majora's Mask had a multitude of different gameplay elements in the form of masks and transformations.
>It has been the same fucking game since OOT
Go to bed Arin
