What games have done stealth right?

What games have done stealth right?

Metal Gear franchise.

If you disagree, leave underaged.

Styx master of shadows

Early thief was great fun (props to the dark engine)
Splinter Cell was a fun genre-changing adaptation
Changing costumes with Agent 47 was pretty good too

Thief 1 and 2.

And... that's about it.

MGS has always been what I like to call "dumb stealth", with Hitman being in the same vein.

The last of us.

if you break it down then the correct answer is none, because everyone that someone lists as being good takes liberties here and there

but thief and metal gear and splinter cell and hitman

Metaru giah sorido or Thief 1/2

...

Splinter Cell Conviction.

skyrim

Men of War

I wonder when video game Ai will be good enough for a good stealth game.

Must have been the wind.

>giant resolution
>well aligned
>quality definition of the cover art
That graphic shouldn't make me as happy as it does.

Well since everyone picks AAA titles

>Mark of the Ninja

Was pretty fun DESU

>Hitman Blood Money

Pretty good but you could definitely cheese/exploit all the levels

Good AI makes a bad stealth game.
>guard hears footstep, radios callsign of guard nearest when he heard you
>no response
>base is on alert for 24 hours
>get seen
>base is locked down for 48 hours

MGSV.

>Hitman Contracts being lower than 2
>Hitman 2016 being lower than BM
>Tenchu's 2 and 3 being lower than 1
>Dishonored being that low
>considering Alpha Protocol a stealth game

Good list otherwise.

World of warcraft

>death to spies
good shit, that game pissed me off though, still haven't fully finished it

And this is the big thing.

If AI was smart, it'd be an unholy effort to stealth. The genre depends on NPCs being simplistic and not acting like real life guards.

I thought the last of us did it well, because they notice dead bodies and always go to the last known location.

Anyone else played this? I found it enjoyable despite the unpratical controls and the lack of enemy variety.

2nded

It'd be good to see this as an added difficulty level.

In a way the Extreme/European Extreme difficulty in MGS is kind of this, because you Fail when being spotted. But it's hardly the same.
