You can only post in this thread if you have hacked your Wii U
>Updates + DLC + working online >free games with haxchi CFW >can get Zelda dubbed in ANY language we want and keep English text >can get uncensored versions as well >emulators, VC, etc. The ultimate Nintendo machine
do I need an SD card larger than 2gb to hack my wii u?
Zachary Hernandez
You can hack it, but you need bigger SD cards to move games from PC to Wii U and install large games.
Brody Davis
is there no way to install games with a large enough SD card to do so?
Luis Torres
Christ, man. Just buy a damn 32GB SD card.
Kayden Hughes
would that enough be enough though? wouldn't I want 128GB or higher, especially for installing multiple games at once so I don't have to keep going back and forth
Daniel Bell
For what purpose? Are you really that impatient or you just have shit-tier write speeds? You don't need to install them at all once in one go
Mason Jenkins
>tfw hacked my wii u >only game i get is skyward sword >i already own every worthwhile wii u game S H I T. Aye can I still do the inject VC thing using haxchi? People told me loadiine is old and broken but it runs games like that perfectly. Same thing for uncensored games, doesn't that only work on loadiine?
Andrew Jackson
I already own every game I want for the WiiU. I will hacknit if and only if there are custom features available now. I want to be able to check my cumulative play time for games like the 3ds. Has that been added yet?
Anthony Scott
The last thing I did with my Wii U was get that loadiine shit on my Sd card. What has changed since then?
David Bell
The only thing I'd want to hack my Wii U for is to play the uncensored version of XCX but it doesn't seem worth it just for that.
Zachary Hernandez
still using kernal exploit and loadiine. Don't really give a shit about online games (own Splatoon legit) and updates are usually applied/available from my online WUD hook ups. Should I actually get onto haxachi CFW?
Jeremiah Young
Last time I hacked my Wii U, only loadiine was available and worked 40% chance. Has the scene improved?
Joseph Sanders
>tfw cemu user
Gabriel Gray
> Just got Rednand (without Haxshitti) set up on 64GB SD card > Don't have to jew out for shitty ext. drives > can reuse SD card's 32GB partition for whatever else I can install 48GB of games onto Sys mem+Rednand with brick protection. Feels good man
Justin Baker
>fearing a brick >not using haxchi lmao
Leo King
I'm on the same boat. I'd like an answer to this as well.
Liam Richardson
With haxchi you can rip games directly from nintendo's server using the brazilian method and then install the games directly to your system memory/external hdd with the WUP installer. You will also be able to get into the homebrew channel without going online to do the exploit. This will still give you the option of using loadiine, you can just do it offline now.
Landon Sanchez
Vastly. It's on par with 3DS. Loadiine is total dogshit
Liam Clark
If you don't have an external HDD or dont plan on using one (aka I'll stick with my SD card), is it still worth it?
Eli Cox
rednand is completely worthless on Wii U since you won't be able to update it, and the wii U won't be getting another update anyway
most games can be installed directly to sysnand without even an exploit needed to run
Jace Rivera
I have loadiine and have installed games through the Brazilian method. Is there anything worthwhile now to bother with CFW?
Owen Phillips
So what all can I do? I would just want this for SNES, NES, GBA and n64 emulation. Can I do that? Can I do any other emulation?
Nathaniel Rogers
You can install stuff to the internal memory. So like, a whole 2 games since it's only 32gb.
Dominic Torres
Are there known issues with the BR method? Music for some games stop at times and anime cutscenes in TMS stutter like hell.
Gabriel Morgan
You dont even need CFW to install games, way easier than the 3DS
Jonathan Ortiz
If you got a copy of the DS braintraining on thw WiiU, you can install haxchi which is an offline version of the exploit and has built in sig patching. You can now install custom channels onto it in this mode, and install anything you want on it with DLC usng tje brazillian method.
Even better, if it was ripped from a disc it will work even without launching haxchi, unless it has DLC or came from eshop. Then you need to boot into haxchi cfw to do it.
Josiah Wright
You install the games directly from the eShop. If there's any issues it's an issue with the legit game too.
Carter Thompson
Yes since you can still use loadiine with haxchi. Once that site goes down you will have wanted to do it.
Dylan Hill
Is there anything you can do about the craptastic load speed from the SD card?
I didn't go through with the haxchi shit because as far as I understand all it does is make it possible to access shit offline. But it will still be the same terrible load speed shit, no? I only tried to play 3D World and while playable, definitely not optimal, and I can only dread to think what the situation would be with a game like BotW.
Angel Bailey
CFW is only if you want to run brazil method eShop games, or brazil method games that have DLC installed
Jack Reyes
>But it will still be the same terrible load speed shit, no? No. You can install games directly to USB or system internal memory. They load just as fast as real eShop games because they technically are real eShop games.
Carson Hall
Anyone got a Uncensored WUP version of Xenoblade X and #FE? >Aye can I still do the inject VC thing using haxchi? Check WiiUiso.
Bentley Morris
Can I use the Brazilian method to download games and use them on loadiine?
David Stewart
This. I dont even have my WiiU online anymore now that I got haxchi installed. (Just in case but I doubt there is going to be an update) A 500gb HDD is all you need for the WiiU games. Then in vWii mode a 1tb should cover GC and Wii games. You could even stick some GC roms onto a 128gb sd card (with all the hack stuff on it) to use with nintendont if you needed that little extra space for more Wii games.
Wyatt Foster
Why would you still use loadiine when the brazilian method is so much better?
Evan Ortiz
I see loadiine as being handy of you had some Japanese games you wanted to play abd you didnt want to fiddle around with region patching to get it running. (We need a homebrew that lets you do this on the fly really)
Jacob Sanders
You are referring to the brazilian method right? When you say USB, can it also be a pendrive, or it definitely needs to be HDD?
Eli Fisher
I remember there was somekind of gamepad homebrew that allowed for other controllers to be used. is that fleshed out yet? Can I use both my gamepad and a PS4 controller to play some couch co op now
Daniel Martinez
CFW makes your console region-free bruh.
Thomas Nguyen
It's recommended to use a HDD as pendrives have limited write cycles. They recommend a HDD with external power but you can use a USB Y cable.
Caleb Anderson
Pendrives aren't really recommended but there's nothing preventing it, assuming the Wii U recognizes it and can format it
You can also install games directly to the internal drive
Juan Sanders
So does this have a freeshop kind of thing like the 3ds?
Noah Rivera
My pendrive works fine. You're just limited to 128gb, but that's enough to fit every Wii U game ever anyway.
Not directly on the console but there's loads of PC programs to get games/DLC from.
Xavier Thomas
I'm a little confused as to what Haxchi FW is compared to loadiine (It's been a while since I touched my wii u). Is Haxhci just a way to let you install the homebrew channel directly on the wii u, rather than having to run a browser exploit to run the homebrew channel?
I get the impression that all I need to do is run the Haxchi step and get the homebrew channel installed on my wii u. Then I don't need to do anything more because I already have loadiine and some games on an SD card. Is this correct?
Chase Taylor
Does it? I heard that you could install Japanese games onto a WiiU but you couldnt play them without modifying the files over the network to change the installed software's region code.
Its no big deal to me since the onpy games I got on loadiine are the taiko drum games I rarely play anyway but if it really is as simple now as installing the game and just running it in cfw mode then thats good to know.
Michael Fisher
I'm unironicly thinking about buying one once it gets a price drop.
Can I hack ANY wii u? Can I play GC and Wii games? That's the reason why I want one, I can't find a cheap wii anywhere, so I might as well just buy that shit instead.
Alexander Howard
Are there certain HDDs you should use for the BR method? Puyo Puyo Tetris seems to be having music issues where it'll stop for a bit then start up again, I'm not sure if it's an issue from reading the game from the HDD or the game itself
Robert Anderson
Thanks. Just to confirm, is it possible to run modified games using this method, meaning uncensored or undubbed games, or that's loadiine only? (#FE, XBCX, upcoming Zelda)
Nathaniel Carter
Depends on the format
Cameron Bailey
I sold my Wii U but I sorta regret it now. How long until a massive price drop?
Aaron Perry
They stopped producing them now so the price is going to rise if anything.
William Edwards
Is Haxchi or Mochacfw better?
Bentley Perez
There's literally no point to still use loadiine.
CFW makes you install the games to the drives, so no more insanely long loading times. Plus you can play online, use DLC, etc. And you don't need to run the browser exploit every single time.
Seriously, using loadiine is the equivalent of still using emunand and rxtools on 3DS
Lucas Morales
Haxchi but it technically costs money. Mocha is free but you're at the mercy of the webexploit page going down.
Adrian Edwards
They're the same shit, but with haxchi you can do it offline. If you don't care about permanently having your games then you can just use mocha.
Mason Hall
Yes. Infact you could hack any WiiU's vWii mode for a very very long time. You can hack the vWii via haxchi and homebrew browser now but before it was as easy as getting a Wii lego game and some files on a SD card and bootng it into the game and loading the save up and doing something in that game. Trouble is though, you need to plug the HDD AFTER its in vWii mode. Because the WiiU menu will try to format it for WiiU use. You can hide the drive but you have to keep unhiding and rehiding it all the time.
James Ward
Why the fuck would you use emunand? Just use haxchi
Jace Ramirez
Does CFW let you install games onto an SD card instead? I have a 64 gb SD card I'm using with loadiine. The Wii U doesn't have much space on it and I don't feel like getting an external HDD.
Dominic Thompson
So basically it depends whether I can find online a version which was prepared already for this format by a technomancer.
Caleb Perez
Im using a 500gb drive from a PS4 in an external closure just fine. You got the drive attatched with a Y splitter cable? Many HDDs needs this to even be detected. The WiiU's usb ports supply very little power.
Jose Rivera
>tfw I'll be getting BOTW, FE Echoes, and the 3DS SMT project all for free
Jack Walker
They're working on a port of Retroarch. You can download it.
Leo Nguyen
Just use Funkii to find all of your games + DLC + Update. Its a Python app that downloada it all for you to drop into your install folder on the PC. Its stupid fucking easy.
Jeremiah Gutierrez
Meant to say SD not PC.
Jace King
I've been using Wii U USB Helper. It has a nice interface and you can have it check your games before you transfer to SD.
Tyler Taylor
Ive only used Funkii so far its been great.
Adam Hill
I see. Call me when it allows you to play Wii and GameCube games with the tablet controls, then.
Nolan Fisher
Can I play games online if I install this?
Charles Kelly
That's not the ONLY thing cfw is used for. It's for offline homebrew use so when the website goes down you're not fucked.
Nathaniel Peterson
>Can I read the OP?
Gavin Johnson
Oh shit. Sorry. I'm a silly billy.
I bricked my 3ds so I doubt I'll do this.
Angel Peterson
this is literally brickproof
Jason Nguyen
Well, Coldboot has the chance of bricking the system.
Wyatt Flores
>Updates + DLC + working online
Woah hold on. Can I play Mario Kart 8 online? I hacked my WiiU like 6 months ago.
Brandon Parker
then don't fucking use it that's why it says OPTIONAL on the guide.
William Flores
Hmmm. Ok I'll give it a try I guess.
And smoking. I see you smoking all the time. That looks cool.
Benjamin Russell
okay jeez i was just pointing that out
Chase Wilson
>already own all 16 worthwhile games on Wii U Is it worth it for me to hack mine? I never hacked my Wii so if I can get Wii and VC games I'll do it in a flash.
Henry Wright
You can sell your physical copies to get some of your money back.
Unless you were retarded enough to buy digitally
Nathaniel Hall
nobody on Sup Forums smokes we do enough damage to ourselves posting here all day
Dylan Morgan
Do you need an SD card or a micro SD card?
Benjamin Lopez
you can use both, but whit the micro sd you will need to use an adadpter.
Oliver Nelson
Im gonna get a lot of shit for saying this, but the only reason for possibly hacking it is so i can run emulators on it. I've emulated pokemon crystal on almost any device but never on the TV via gamecube or whatnot and i kinda dig that, seems comfy.
Mason King
Is buying a DS game the only way to get Haxchi installed? Is there any other way to get the homebrew launcher installed on the wiiu so I don't need to use the browser exploit?
Joshua Watson
So I already have the thing that lets you go to that webpage, choose the option to open the homebrew and play the game. What else do I need to be able to play online?
Also what are some WiiU games that are still active online? Besides Splatoon I guess.
Chase Ward
Nope, they haven't found another exploit yet to install haxchi. Just buck up and pay $7 to Nintendo so you can pirate all their shit afterwards.
Jose Allen
Installing Homebrew launcher on Wii U isn't the problem. The problem is that you can only use that method while on CFW, and to enter CFW, you need to run haxchi first, and for that you need to enter homebrew through browser exploit. Just buy Brain Age and save yourself a lot of headaches.
Camden Rogers
You can get Wii and VC, yeah.
Why not? RetroArch has been ported to both Wii and Wii U, boot up gambatte and play away.
Nicholas Nguyen
Is this "Dr Kawashima's brain training" the same NDS game as Brain Age?
Gavin Long
In EU, yes.
Alexander Baker
Is there really no FTP method or USB HDD to install games from? I just don't have an SD card at hand.
Jordan King
I do have a micro SD and adapter lying around so i could give it a shot, but after the 3DS shenanigans im a bit paranoid so im gonna wait it out for a while till the hacks are Wii tier.
Daniel Powell
What about the mocha CFW? Right now my Sd card is already set up for loadiine. I can easily run the browser exploit to launch the homebrew browser, run loadiine, and play games off my sd card. The only thing I'm afraid of is that at some point that exploit will no longer be hosted online. Otherwise I'm not all too interested in any of the other benefits that having a CFW gets you.
The only other method I'm aware of is self hosting the exploit but I don't really feel like running a web server my self just to run the homebrew channel.
Adrian Bailey
will this cfw automatically prevent updates from Nintendo? I had to keep my console unplugged because one of the dns servers went down or some shit and I was unable to go online with it anymore and I do play Mario Maker so keeping my WiiU offline is a no go.
Lincoln Gonzalez
So which steps do I need to follow to download hyrule Warriors?
Carter Phillips
So this works without coldboothax? I heard that can brick your Wii U.
Nolan Richardson
Recycle that SD card for stuff in vWii and just to move games from PC to Wii U
Seriously, just install CFW. It's not hard. It's simple, and you get to play games online like Smash and Mario Kart.
Dude, if the DNS servers go down, you don't connect to the internet at all, so you don't need to worry. Unless your DNS are set to auto-obtain, you'll never update.
Kevin Harris
Yes. Without it, all it does is leave the haxchi app installed on your system menu (which you will run every time you want to enter CFW) All coldboot does is start Wii U on CFW from boot, but it's still unstable and not really worth it.
Julian Moore
>Dude, if the DNS servers go down, you don't connect to the internet at all, that's the fucking problem, genius. I don't like having to fuck with it every time the one I'm using bites the dust.
