Is this game worth getting? I'm not big into Metal Gear but everyone raved this was amazing. I don't feel like I would be good at it because it's a military style game and I know nothing about how to "properly" play it. I've noticed there are multiple ways to complete each mission, and I guess you can just choose how you want to play each game.

But I'm not really a "military" kind of guy, I'm not sure if I'll understand the jargon of the game. I mean, I'm sure it's not a hard game if you play it on a easy difficulty but is the whole appeal of the game just the fact that you can replay each mission and figure out different ways to complete it? Seems like everyone gave it a 9/10 or 10/10 so it must be fun, or at least enjoyable to play. I'm more of a Revengance kind of guy, at least you got to play as Raiden and do cool weeb sword attacks with all the fancy anime style shit in it. Phantom Pain is more like a traditional military experience where you extract targets, assassinate them, and I'm not really sure if I'm going to like it or not.

Metal Gear is not 'military' in the same way CoD is. It's stealth. Of course you can just shoot everyone if you want to, but that will only hurt you on most story missions.

Try it, it's fun. Story is mediocre, but it has the best stealth mechanics of any game yet released. At least, you'll know for sure afterwards if you like or dislike the genre.

Knowing military jargon is hardly necessary. Part of the appeal is definitely the ability to approach missions in different ways.

don't worry about knowing how to play. it's pretty easy to grasp and the tutorials explain it fine.

One caveat though: it starts EXTREMELY slow. As a lifelong MGS fanboy even I was almost wanting to turn it off halfway through the first level. The rest of the game is totally different to the first level so don't get discouraged if you hate it.

Wait for it to go on sale, but it is the worst metal gear game. The game play is fun, but the story is pathetic and unfinished. You'll find a better story on a mobile game. It ends with a cut scene that is supposed to initiate the 2nd act and doesn't even trying to conclude any of the story. The stealth combat design is some of the funnest in years is its own saving grace. It only made me want to play the other Metal Gear games that have great stories, but they are not on PC. :(

This game doesn't really have to do with military jargon. Yes, the story and setting involves military themes, but the gameplay has almost nothing to do with it except for shooty guns. It's a simple, but deep, open-world, stealth game. A lot of side-missions have you capturing people or items, but that's it. If a stealth game does not sound good to you, don't get it.

Maybe once it's finished... (never)

at least you get to kill Commies in sand nigger land

I've spent 30 hours on it and dropped it twice because it wasn't that entertaining. I liked the other MGS games where you were in an enclosed space a lot more.
The open world isn't fun for me considering you have to spend time getting to each mission start and then each mission itself is so long because the world is big and annoying, especially if you fail at a mission and then have to walk across a giant field again to get back to exactly where you were.
Open world made the game not fun.

>What is FOB missions and MGO

Get infinite heaven. It lets you skip helicopter rides. No excuse.

I'm sure MGO is fun but I never spent time with it at all because I didn't want to be progressing through the story and then "oh noez mother base is under attack you lost materials!!"
But since I don't care to play the main game anymore maybe I'll check it out now

You missed 70% of the game tbf

FOB missions are easy as fuck and boring and MGO was literally fucking terrible.

Yeah its pretty good. desu though just kill quiet, having a bikini sniper is cool but a lot of her cut scenes are pretty cringy. luckily D-Dog is a good buddy

>FOB missions are easy as fuck

kek newbies' FOBs don't count, scrub

Using D-Dog and Quiet is like cheating. D-Walker is best buddy.

>I'm not big into Metal Gear
Then you won't be disappointed with the story. Gameplay is where this game's at. Go for it, hombre.

If you want to spice things up, disable markers and turn off reflex mode. If you're on PC, install the "Infinite Heaven" mod which makes the experience a lot better.

You can turn off enemy markers

wow one long mission. you fucking casual.

Sure, but then why would you bring D-Dog with you? His other abilities aren't that great. D-Walker is the fastest and comfiest means of transport.

>It's stealth.
TPP is more accommodating to action approaches than nearly any other game in the series. I think it's fair to say you get the most out of it if you incorporate at least some sneaking into your playstyle, though.
>it has the best stealth mechanics
Eh.

I guess youre right. I liked having D-Dog so id know where prisoners are but I guess it is a bit casual

>one HOUR AND A HALF interactive cutscene before you get to play the game

Fixed that for you.

Well, I bring Quiet with me just so I can look at her boobs, I won't judge you user.
