Why is this game so hard?

Why is this game so hard?

Dodge through the bullets and only if you can't dodge them normally.

Enemies are damage sponges and the guns and urgrades are shit, few and far between

Because you didn't play Nuclear Throne

Due to tons of inconveniences like your starting gun being the most inaccurate piece of shit ever (especially when playing as the pilot), enemies getting an additional hitpoint each level, dozens of weapons where most felt like they put more thought into the gun and ammo pun instead of the gun itself and much more.

I don't understand why the game has such good ratings when it feels so unbalanced

It looks good
That's it

Pretty much.
The presentation is pretty good but as far as gameplay goes it's meh.
Even the whole bullet hell aspect is unsatisfying since it feels like playing something like DoDonPachi or Gigawing while controlling the ship from Space Invaders that can't shoot straight.

>Fast paced action game running at 30fps

How about no

>bullet hell
>without a clear hitbox
>for both bullets and yourself
That's the entire problem right there

Health scaling, slow movement, reloading, and the decision to implement a "dodge roll" instead of proper hitboxes.

i have like 15 or so hrs logged on this and i have to say it was pretty underwhelming. i waited forever for it to come out and i can't believe i'm so disappointed.

pros: the game looks really pretty and the art direction is so cute that it almost makes you forget how bad of an experience you're having.

my main problem with this bullshit is that it's so fucking slow, you know how in other videogames you'd use your dodge or dash mechanic (megaman x titles etc) to get around the stage quicker? - your fucking dodge moves you at like .2x the speed you would normally run at. the fucking potential powerups you get from a chest might aswell literally do fucking nothing because the stat gain you get from them is so fucking minimal that you wonder why you spent your precious key on it in the first place. your starting weapon as many others have complained here is the worst piece of shit ever, god help you if you run out of ammo for your other potentially shitty weapons.

i can understand fucking the player over and giving them a shitty joke weapon for the lol random aspect of things but when make a third of the games weapons shitty joke weapons then it's not fucking fun at all.

there aren't even that many weapons or room variations to make it feel like a true ''roguelike'' experience. the devs should make a turbo version or something so i don't feel like fucking killing myself when i restart the game and have to trudge through that slow fucking bullshit.

there are also situations that appear in which you are unable to dodge at all - why.

i cannot stand devs who don't look at other successful titles in their genre and use the things that made it great.

it's clearly trying to be a mix of touhou and the binding of isaac and nuclear throne but completely disregards the pacing and precision required to play those games.

for what it is, it's just too much of a timesink.

i'd rather play any other of the titles mentioned here.

I did and im awful at gungeon. So you're wrong that the skills translate

>it's just too much of a timesink

Yeah, what's also terrible is that those Hegemony Credits that allow you to buy new equipment to appear in the dungeon almost only drop from bosses.
These bosses are a fucking slog due to their healthpool to the point that if you don't find a better weapon in the first level you might as well restart since it probably takes less time replaying the level than trying to fight the first boss with your inaccurate peashooter.
Compare that to Crypt of the Necrodancer where you find diamonds in the levels themselves which gives you a sense of progression even when having a couple of shit runs.

>£10 for barely a shallow roguelite made in gamemaker running at 30fps

I'd rather hammer a chopstick down my dickhole than play that abomination

Oh yeah, the rat is bullshit. You cannot control when you receive ammo drops, forcing you to take the ammo in all situations. Even if you try to teleport back to the rat to catch him in the act, he just activates his impenetrable personal shield, runs away, and steals your loot if you leave again. The rat exists exclusively to fuck over the player and restrict their options.

We still upset over junk nerf?

slow paced, no fun allowed

I'll always be miffed.

from my experience the game was tediously slow because you couldnt find good weapons and when you used your weapons you would just run out of ammo

so what you basically did just use basic gun unless the situation calls for additional firepower

I got the plat for this game, I had pretty good time overall. I think the further you get into the game and the more unlocks you get, the easier it becomes. It really boils down to "gitting gud" with the starter weapon and holding out on your good guns for bosses, everything afterword is cake except the secret levels. That shit is hard i'll agree, but the rest is pretty easy once you get used to the mechanics

this
And most enemies are bullet sponges, especially bosses.

you can memorize their patterns and dodge it perfectly, but unless you have one of the few guns that make boss fights go by quickly, it's a tedious slog for most runs

plus it has slow pacing.

so basically devs of this game, if you're reading this - you made your game too fucking slow and not exciting enough.

gg learn from this experience 6/10 u tried

>make the starting gun shoot straight; you can even slightly reduce the firing speed if you want
>reduce the HP pool of the enemies and instead of increasing their health by one each level come up with new enemies instead
>let the shop credits drop in the levels themselves or add other ways to earn them

there, the game is fixed

You forgot
>increase movement speed
>remove El Rato
>for the love of god get rid of the guns that are worse than the starting gun
