What the fuck happened?
THIS IS A 10 YEAR OLD GAME
>2007 was twenty years ago
Mods
Crysis looks terrible outside of the forest
>16:10 will never be the standard aspect ratio ever again
couple of years since I switched to a 16:9 and I STILL can't get used to the lack of verticality
so it doesn't look bad at all
We settled for less.
>THIS IS A 16 YEAR OLD GAME
What the fuck happened?
>1995 was 48 years ago
No it doesn't. It's actually the prettiest in the weird alien mothership level.
>my son is 7 years older than me
>tfw you got cucked by your 7 year old son and you were born from your wife.
shite
Now compare it with a game from 1997.
Seriously what the fuck happened.
Yes, and not a single computer could handle the game on high settings back then.
memes
Indie trash took over. Even console games are starting to look better than most PC exclusives.
crysis 1 was outstanding and way ahead of its time in every way except for a dead multiplayer.
This is what happens when they develop a game for cutting edge hardware, which consoles don't have.
i don't mind consoles though, they play their role in the industry.
Vanilla crysis isnt even that good looking. It has great modding capacity and community.
God bless, we need another game like that but people would just be too salty when their GTX 1080ti can't max it out on 1440p with supersampling.
Also its only 6gb installed, well warhead anyway
compare it with doom 2016 which is around 70gb with patches
>This is what happens when they develop a MEDIOCRE game for cutting edge hardware
The gameplay itself was just a generic shooter with a gimmick imo. If they would've made a platform-exclusive game and hype the shit out of it, like they do with console shovelware, then maybe it would have inspired the pc market a bit more.
I'm not a huge fan of Crysis' gameplay, but you've got at least give it credit for being better than average.
At least in terms of the openness and what's at the player's disposal compared to say, a Call of Duty campaign.
maybe it didn't suit your tastes.
the "gimmick" that you speak of, I played through the entire campaign using ONLY the default armor mode because i thought that was more fun and fair, so no gimmicks there.
as for the rest of the game, everything blew me away and still blows away pretty much every single player game to this day. everything was produced with such quality, especially the gunplay, ai, animations, art, and level design.
It is definetely better than the average modern shooter. If you are into arcade shooters (serious sam, doom), you might not like it, but it is a good linear game with massive areas and multiple options.
Also the zero g section is great.
At the time, I wasn't exactly blown away or anything. It's better than average I'll give you that, but the engine was spoiled on what they used it for.
Fuck the ending was bad
Have you noticed as graphics get better, gameplay gets worse?
muh aliens is the bane of so many otherwise good fps'. they start out strong then around half way through, herpa derp heres some aliens.
I remember I got my new gaming PC a few years ago and immediately booted Crysis, praising jesus I could run it on max at 60fps
[spoiler[ its shit [/spoiler]
>Halo came out 25 years ago
consoles always win babyyy
Halo is actually closer to being 25 than its release date.
Crysis is only good for GPU benchmarking and making PCfat feel superior about their purchase.
Boring ass game with no soul, charm or fun
I have crysis but only really used it as a graphics benchmark back when I got a 9800 gtx+ but never modded it. What are the best mods available for it now that I have a more powerful rig (6600k and 8gb rx 480)?
What is considered an amazing shooter to you if you think Crysis was just mediocre?
If it werent for Million Dollar man and that one banana leaf being too shiny, I'd almost think this was a real life photo
...
>that post
>smug anime girl
Consoles, greedy publishers, fear of diminishing returns, and lazy developers in no particular order.
That's the truth take it or leave it.
I have a feeling if a Crysis 3 or AC Unity looking game came out in like 2010, graphics would've have stagnated by 2014.
nobody could run it when it came out and it just became a meme. Publishers realized that it would be better to just make a game that's worse looking but easier to run on consoles and most gaming pcs fiscally. Also diminishing returns on hardware improvements and realism in graphics.
Consols
>Crysis
>Not fun
LUL mate have you even played it? Just running around the first level is a joy
Didn't Crysis and Witcher get pirated in the millions? I believe both still run like shit.
Really makes you think desu
I'm so sick of this meme.
Crysis is actually one of the best FPS ever made. I'm not even joking.
The suit system is pure genius and the physics and movement are perfect.
Seriously, being able to use your energy pool for crazy actions is an idea that needs to be explored again.
It's how it always used to be.
Nowadays you can go a full fives years with a mid range computer and run everything in 1080p... Hell even now how many games are actually optimized for multi threading and designed to use >3GB ram?
I want to switch computer badly, it's getting so old I'm just waiting for some part to break. But i just can't see a game that would significantly benefit from a brand new comp.
Just got a 21:9 and really hope it becomes a standard cause god dayum
Meh, I thought the game was pretty boring as well.
