Why do people here shit all over the Switch's launch line-up when the Xbox One and PS4 also had literally nothing worthwhile in their first year?

Because console wars

all three launch lineups were shit.
so fuck off comparing diarrhea of a swine to diarrhea of a donkey and a horse

People have issues.

the switch literally had nothing and you're probably comparing a "first year" of a console released in march to those released in november. great logic. really made me change my opinion about the switch's barren ass launch.

Because people always shit on bad line ups

because nintendo went full jew with the high price of every single peripheral

PS4 STILL has no games, which is the sad thing. At least with Nintendo you know there will be solid titles 4 YEARS into the console's life.

Knack
vs
Zelda Breath of the Wild
vs
Forza

Switch > X box One > power gap > PS4

prove me wrong

Idk. The launch seems alright. My concerns are:
>32gb storage
>no mention of which machine, if any, we'll be able to transfer our DLC from to the Switch
>paid.fucking.online
>ridiculous amounts of overpriced peripherals, including but not limited to an OPTIONAL AND MORE EXPENSIVE charge dock for the fucking controller

there weren't many ""next gen"" games when the ps4 and xbone got released. Now there are plenty, but only a handful will be playable on the switch... and of those, a good portion are old as not relevant anymore.

the switch will be a first party machine, and since nintendo can only make like 2 decent games a year, it's gonna be wii u all over again

>Implying Smash won't be an "Ultimate edition" with all dlc added to begin, when MK8 Deluxe is that and more

I think because Nintendo are in a position to react rather than innovate, then it can be seen as pretty pathetic that they don't have anything good to offer given how much time they've had. When they showed fucking Skyrim in their promos a while back I was gobsmacked.

I'm happy with it so far personally. I'd list what games I'm getting but it's like... Half of these

Don't the joycons last about 20 hours? You won't be playing for that long, surely.

I loathe and detest rebuying games when it's not unreasonable to expect BC.

More talking about VC here than their repackaged games like MK8 though.

An Xbox charge kit is $20, and until you get that it's AA batteries exclusively. These by default are rechargable and last for 20 hours and come with a charger (the unit)

>Half of these
You must really like indie games, why not buy a PC? Or hell a laptop would run most of them

You could probably buy every single indie game on that list and the total would be far less than $300

This is what gets me. I gladly bought a ps3 when the slim was released and it had quite a few good exclusives 3 years into its life, but i still don't have a ps4. what gives? gen 8 sucks.

I don't give two fucks about what XBOX is doing. But I'm glad they're cancer too I guess.

There should be more on launch for the switch given how bad wiiu did.

There should be more AAA titles in year 1 given how bad the wiiu did.

That being said, people forget that GENERALLY this is how launches are. A couple of wonderful games in the first year and irrelevant shit.

is there a reason we can't shit on all three OP?

besides, the switch lineup is basically shit all year, until POSSIBLY the holidays. there's a lot of games on the above that i'm excited about, but most are multiplats and i'm almost positive many of those will be delayed into 2018.

I've got a great PC, i7 2500K, GTX 1060 dual 1080p monitors. I just like portables

The PS4 and Xbox are still being shit on for having a lack of games.

And I mean I really like portables

Except BTOW is already on WiiU
Having a multiplat as your launch title isn't a good thing

They don't have enough Wii U units out there and active to consider it a risk

PS4 has all the multiplats and console exclusives tho, nothing gets released on nintendo shit other than marios and zeldas

Yeah and people will still get the switch after seeing what they did to WiiU. At least Sony had the decency to keep PS3 propped up till it is good.

Nintendo wants to pretend WiiU never happened and hopes you forget what happened to it might happen to Switch as well. 4 years down the road if Switch is WiiU 2.0? Well they are gonna wipe the slate again and you are keep going to gobble that up.

You cant god dam, nigger

Because we shit all over the ps4 and xbone's launch lineup too.
More importantly, why do nintendo fags take criticism of a company they don't work for so personally?

Most people still don't know the Wii U is a thing that exists

roster updates are not propping up the PS3
that's fucking life support

Because Sup Forums shits all over the PS4 and Xbox too numbnuts.

Sony supported PS3 throughout it life cycle despite it floundering start. It was WiiU level in terms of sales for the first year or so but by EOL, it had more sales than the 360.

Because we want the console to actually do go. instead it's pretty much gonna be dead for the first year. unlike Sony and MS, Nintendo doesn't have 3rd party support to get afloat the console, while the make 1st party games.

I mean the launch is mediocre at best, since the most likely people to buy a Switch at launch probably already own a Wii U and there's almost no difference between the two versions of Breath of the Wild by Nintendo's own admission

The real issue is that it's a mediocre games lineup along with all the other shit Nintendo is doing
>System more expensive than the competition, and if someone wants to make the argument it has to be because it's a powerful handheld then it's Nintendo's most expensive handheld to date (which worked terribly last time around for the 3DS)
>Poor battery life when actually playing games
>"Benefit" for subscribing to Nintendo's online service is one NES or SNES game a month that gets taken away at the end of that month
>Required to use a smartphone app to talk with your friends, party up and maybe even matchmake
>Pro Controller and Joycon set are $70 and $80 respectively
>A little nitpicky on this one, but Nintendo actually thinks 1 2 Switch is worthy of being a $50 retail game and not a pack-in

If Nintendo's lineup was truly stellar people could handwave away all that shit, but it's not so it makes the console look that much worse

Because the Xbox One and PS4 aren't under one year old anymore, they're three. Many games have come out for them since. Meanwhile the Switch is releasing at a price that can actually be more expensive than buying either of those consoles, and it currently offers less games. It's really not complicated. The Switch would be a good deal if it were releasing back then, but it's late to the party.

>More importantly, why do nintendo fags take criticism of a company they don't work for so personally?

They're like battered housewives (expect the Metroid fans who've taken so much shit that they're just bitter at Nintendo and broke out of it)

>the 360 and ps3 have been out for 5 years why buy a one or 4 when the older ones are cheaper and have more games
Fucking poorfag

Liking Nintendo is like being a white male in 2017

Look, people need to realize that the Switch will not get AAA multiplats. It is too weak to play those games, it will require significant work to port a game like Resident Evil 7 to the Switch, and people would most likely just decide to get it on another system. Most people who want to play the latest multiplat would take better graphics over portability and already have a PS4 or Xbox One. Or they have a PC.

The Switch is best looked at as a next gen handheld device. It has a market here - People want first party Nintendo games and they want third party handheld games. A market that really has no good competition. Anyone who wants to play the next Assassin's Creed or the next Battlefield already has that covered, but I need my Monster Hunter and I most likely will not get this anywhere else.

Sup Forums plz go

Also are you gonna post that in every thread? It's not that clever

Liking nintendo in 2017 is like liking Apple in 2017.
It's clear neither company has any respect for it's most avid fans anymore and is gearing their business model around exploiting them for everything they're worth instead of improving the quality of their products.

It's funny how people say this shit but Nintendo is far better than Sony or Microsoft

I have a PC, I don't need a PS4 or Xbox One. There's maybe one or two games I want on either console, the Switch is basically the successor to the 3DS which is far better than any current gen console.

From November of 2012 to November of 2013, the Wii U had, at best, two worthwhile exclusives - Super Mario 3D World and Pikmin 3. Switch might do a little better than that from March to December.

Good thing they focused on making it the next gen handheld device with implementation such as

>Mobile phone usage, so you can use your third arm to fiddle with your phone while you hold your switch
>Lack of multimedia options because who doesn't like carrying an addition tablet sized device on top of already carrying a tablet and a mobile phone
>Shit battery life so people can carry USB power banks around
>Always online so people can pay as they go and play

>Nintendo is far better than Sony or Microsoft
Sony and MS don't have something called WiiU happen on their watch. Even with the initial flops of PS3 and Xbone, both companies still supported the devices they put out. Meanwhile WiiU is getting swept under the rug and you better hope Switch doesn't have poor sales and get the same treatment.

Cool, tell me how great it is when it actually gets those games, stops somehow having even worse online plans than XBL and PSN and stops ripping people off on controller prices

Because a shit launch is a shit launch. PS4 and Xbone have had over 3 years to get their shit together. I imagine Switch will have a respectable repertoire of games in 2020, under the same conditions that the other consoles are currently in now. But for Switch that's neither here nor there, and the reality is that it's launching under far harsher competition.

>4 years down the road if Switch is WiiU 2.0?
If the switch is another console with solid first party support, but very limited third party support? Sure, I wouldn't care.

I get the shit about the high peripheral cost but let's be real here, vast majority of people will buy at most the pro controller and that's it.

And that's fine, if the product presents a value to you worth your money, then it is a good product to you, but the same is true of the new dongle book and dongle phone.
I just can't stand the principle of it, the enormous barrier of entry that is the cost and how hard they're hitting me with regional pricing and that virtual console shit and how they're charging full price for less and less content in their games, I feel like i'm being insulted for buying their shit.
They're personal problems so if you don't have them I can't perfectly understand not giving a fuck, i'm just judging you for it is all.

>solid first party support
>No metriod
>Zelda gets held hostage for Switch
>Rehashed Zelda
>Solid first party support

You can't actually be this stupid, can you?

The phone app has yet to be showcased, speculation is just speculation.

Lack of multimedia options on release because nobody is going to buy a Switch for Netflix so that may as well come later - The system was announced 3 months ago, app development takes time and resources away from more important things

2.5 - 6 hours battery life is not bad when you compare to any mobile device with a decent dedicated GPU - Most gaming laptops have 3 hours battery life, even the minimum battery life (2.5h) is good enough for most people. How often do you play games for 2.5h with nowhere to charge? I drive to work, I work at work, I have a 30m lunch, I drive home. I used to take transit to school and spent 1h in transit, it would still last an entire day when I went to school. I'm going on vacation to Tokyo in a few months and my plane has charging outlets on every charge.

It is not always online -- consider most of the situations I posted above.

Chances are it'll get Pokemon, Monhun. Zelda and Mario are confirmed. Reggie mentioned a "true" Metroid game. It's going to have a great library. I don't have a Wii U so I can look forward to Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon as well. Also controller prices aren't that high. Look up any console controller. Look at the price of two PS Move controllers. It's expensive.

Nintendo forgot how to make good games about 5 years ago

You're forgetting the part where the Wii U was abandoned and many games that should have gone to Wii U owners were converted to Switch exclusives that you can no longer play without upgrading to their next flop

>Reggie mentioned a "true" Metroid game.

He also hinted at that for the Wii U, and look where that went

Because at least there were more games on launch day for those consoles than this and Just Dance.

The Nintendo 64 had TWO (2) (dos) games at launch.

its only bad when nintendo does it

>Metroid for Wii U confirmed!
Man. I'd feel sorry for Switch buyers if they weren't amply warned

You do know the PS4 and Xbone got shit on for their launch lineups too, right?

>The phone app has yet to be showcased, speculation is just speculation.
Valid speculation based on what has been announced is still valid for discussion. Don't worry given Nintendo backwards online services, you will be eating humble pie when it is showcased.

>so that may as well come later - The system was announced 3 months ago, app development takes time and resources away from more important things
Oh but speculation on this is fine right? Despite there being exact zero basis for you speculation. Fucking hypocrite.

>
2.5 - 6 hours battery life is not bad when you compare to any mobile device with a decent dedicated GPU
Except I don't give a fuck. I don't care if it is a portable PS4 if it has shit battery life. I am sure the 3DS was successful because of it graphic fidelity. Remember 3DS had an average of 4-6 hours of battery life playing games and still got shit for having shit battery life.

>even the minimum battery life (2.5h) is good enough for most people
No it isn't. And by your estimation it is the bare minimum and Nintendo has been known to over estimate the "minimum" battery life for their devices before.

The N64 was obliterated by the PSX

But i cant run zelda on a 300 laptop

Because the Switch is coming out midway through a generation and is competing against 2 consoles with established libraries at the same price point.
>inb4 ps4 has no games
>inb4 just buy a pc

>nothing gets released on nintendo shit other than marios and zeldas

It's like people enjoy those games and want to play them

Sad because Zelda sales have been declining with every new iteration. As more kids grow up without Mario and Zelda, I am sure by the new Zelda, all that is left will be manchildren playing it.

>The phone app has yet to be showcased, speculation is just speculation.

Then why the fuck hasn't Nintendo actually told us anything significant about it, and everything they have said so far points to the worst possible outcome with it? Reggie got fucking interviews and he outright said "we believe (the app) is going to be a very compelling part of the overall proposition because that’s how you’ll voice chat, that’s how you’ll do your matchmaking, and create your lobby"

>all that is left will be manchildren playing it.
we're already there

nintendo is mainly about their first party titles, and a lot of them have been ruined.

in all honesty if their first party aint all that great, and they have no god damn 3rd party to offer like the other consoles, that just says enough.

I have a feeling that a Wii U Metroid game has been in development for a couple of years and they decided at some point early in development to move it over to the Switch.

Yes, sadly they can only play the new ones on nintendos retarded hardware.

>best game is a multiplat

literally no reason to buy a Switch

Watch it be a remake of Metroid 2

And it's worse than AM2R

And both were actual games, and good ones at that yet it still got destroyed.

It was still a good system

>4 years down the road if Switch is WiiU 2.0? Well they are gonna wipe the slate again and you are keep going to gobble that up.
If the Switch is the WiiU 2.0 Nintendo won't be doing anything besides iPhone games anymore.

I think it's painfully obvious that the Switch's 2017-2018 launch lineup consists mostly of games that Wii U should have gotten

Because from what I've seen here, Sup Forums is Tsundere about Nintendo.

Something that Switch buyers don't see.
They think they are paying 300 dollars to play new games.

No consumer is going to look at the Switch lineup followed by examining the CURRENT library of the PS4 and Xbox One and say "Yeah, but they had shit launches so this system that offers inferior features and no new games until Splatoon 2 is worth it."
The Switch is priced out of the handheld market and not valuable as a home console as it's so bare bones it does nothing but play games which other, cheaper, more powerful consoles already do in ADDITION to being media centers.
Nintendo is trying for the second time in a row to go after the Wii market through extremely expensive joycons packed with superfluous tech that inflates the price to make people feel like they're holding a glass of ice water and 1 2 Switch is the only demonstration of it where you don't even look at the fucking screen.
Nothing is novel here, the Wii's thunder will not strike twice.

They'll go 3rd party
There's too much money to be made in console games, mobile-only would be completely wasting their assets. They don't even make their own mobile games, those are handled by DeNA

Only in retrospect, to be honest. The best thing about the N64 was 4 player local multiplayer, but its release schedule was BARREN.

To give a comparison, the XB1, PS4, 3DS, Vita, and WiiU all have >several times< the amount of games the N64 had by the time it died.

So should no one ever release a new console unless it comes with 100+ games to match the other systems?

Do you dumb fuck. Why did people buy the PS4 or Xbone over the extensive library available from PS3/360 or even the PS2?

Because the hardware was a significant upgrade over existing consoles. Nintendo and their fanboys like to pretend it's console exist in a bubble and doesn't compete with the rest but that isn't true.

You're thinking behalf of a company as though you're invested, act like an intelligent consumer and you'll come to the same conclusion:
No one should ever buy a launch system.

Enjoy playing the multiplat BOTW on your PS4 and Xbox

>Because the hardware was a significant upgrade over existing consoles.

And this is a 2-generation leap over the 3DS, which it replaces.

I don't know about him, but I'll enjoy playing multiplat BotW on my personal computer

I'll enjoy BotW on my Wii U.
Switch offers nothing to me.

Yeah I will on CeMU

Good luck playing it half a year later when everyone else already has.

It replaces 3DS by
>Having paid online
>Needing a phone to matchmake
>Costing more than what the 3DS cost at launch. A price that made Nintendo cut it in months and launch the ambassador program
>No multimedia options so people are stuck with a tablet sized device that only plays game
>Shitter battery life than the 3DS

MULTI PLAT

Oh and what are you going to do in that half a year? Wait for Mario Odyssey to launch while replaying Zelda for the 100th time cause it is the only game worth playing on the Switch?

>b-But muh ARMS and online paywall Mario Kart

Why make the argument that the Switch's library is worse then its competitors when you say that the reason people buy a new console is because of hardware.
The upgrade that the Switch offer is its portability. It doesn't have to be a direct power upgrade like the PS4 and Xbone

>I never played a 3DS game online
>Smartphone matchmaking more or less as annoying as friend codes
>The 3DS' price didn't hold it back as much as its shit library and hardware
>All it had at launch was a barebones MP3 player.
>Its battery life was in the same league as the Switch.

I bought a 3DS at launch, it was hell.
